FFXIV: Level 1-80 Ocean Fishing FAST & FREE (Shark Mount & Minion Guide Patch 5.5)

hey guys fur daddy here and uh i finally have an excuse for my bad microphone quality because i'm currently [Music] underwater guys fur daddy here and i'm coming at you with a guide for ocean fishing uh it shouldn't be too long of a video but i thought i would go over some of the discoveries that i made while i was learning more about fishing to get this mount before i made the video um i felt like i should probably like actually get them out and then make the video because i hadn't gotten it before even though i leveled my fissure all the way to 80 doing ocean fishing so i was able to get it in just a day of trying to go out and do it a lot of it comes down to the group that you get but at the same time there's a lot of things that you can do to ensure you'll get it so i'm gonna go over unlocking the content uh a brief description of what it is and then some tips and tricks on getting a high score in case you want to get the mount or the pet or whatever so let's get into it in case you guys are wondering uh the rewards you can get from this this is the mount that you get from ocean fishing it's kind of scary looking but i think it's pretty cool there are also a few minions you can get from doing ocean fishing you can get the major general the dolphin calf as well as the gull and those are all obtained in different ways that i'll go over later on in the video in addition to that there's a whole bunch of titles you can get that i'm just gonna put on the screen scrolling credit style as well as a bunch of other visual effects at the same time crazy so i'm going to be getting a lot of my information from the ocean fishing guide which you can find uh in the description in case you want to just read that but hopefully i'll give you guys some insight into my experiences leveling up my fisher and getting them out so you wouldn't have to worry about that so the first thing i want to go over is just a little bit about how ocean fishing works so basically uh you and 23 people get on a boat every two hours and you go out uh you fish a whole bunch of fish up using like a certain type of bait that you can only get from there and then you come back and you get a whole bunch of xp um you can think of it a little bit i keep using runescape metaphors but a little bit like fishing trawler but uh it's a little bit more like temporos or winter tot or anything like that like any group skilling where there's goals you can get that you can achieve as a group and that gives everybody a bigger xp bonus at the end so uh let's get into how to actually unlock fisher and this because you can do it all the way from level one so this is also a guide from one to eighty fisher so at the limsa luminza lower decks here you can find the fishing guild here you're going to want to do two quests in quick succession the first one is from uh okay and once you finish that quest the way of the fissure uh you're going to want to do my first fishing rod which is from sissypoo here that's an easier name to pronounce and finally you're going to want to do the quest all the fish in the sea from phil phil's now alright so grab all those quests and that should uh send you down to the area you have to go for ocean fishing as well as prepare you for it so i'll meet you there so this is kind of weird but if you're trying to get to the ocean fishing really fast the fastest way to get there is using the aetherite to get to the arcana skill and then just running down from there and right here here on the map is where you're going to want to be for fishing now i'm just going to go through each npc here and explain a little bit about how they work and everything like that so this merchant here they sell you the gear that you actually are the the bait that you actually need for fishing so you can buy just like a hundred of those for very very cheap this person here gives you information on the following schedules for fishing and when the next one happens there'll also be a website about that but i'll get into that in a sec this guy here it's just a pretty face and this person here is the script exchange so if you're level 80 this is really useful to you uh you'll see on the website that i show you later there's certain fish that can only be bought with certain bait that you purchase with scripts which you can get from here you can also buy commercial engineering manuals from them as well which allows you to uh or commercial survival manuals which allow you to get more experience as you go along so these are all really really useful um i suggest if you're level 80 and you're wanting to let's get a little bit extra stuff here like at level 80 in any gatherer you can get the survival manuals as you're leveling up there for yellow scripts as well so that's all the npc's here okay so i'm gonna do my best to try to explain this website a little bit it's pretty daunting when you look at it but i'm going to try to do my best anyways so bear with me and if it doesn't make sense right now i'm going to be going over uh like a voyage of me fishing and explaining why i do the things that i do so just hold tight if that doesn't make any sense so um what you need to understand and this is taken exactly from the fisherman's horizon discord on the top here is that there are three ocean specific bait that i showed you earlier there's krill there's ragworm and there's plump worms so beside each fish uh here and this is this would be the route it'll automatically fill in the route that you're going on to so for this route uh it has the krill to catch the tortoise shell crab etc etc but the one that we're interested in is catching spectral fish to trigger a spectral tide um and here is the fish so for example uh in the first zone you want to catch use ragworm to try to catch a spectral butterfly it'll show up as a three-star bite okay uh what else it means here is uh yeah so because it doesn't have a star next to it that means that you can technically catch it with any bait the ones with a star beside it means it's required bait as you can see when i mouse over it there that's what you need to understand if you just want to show certain fish you can see time sensitive fish high value fish and intuition fish now this line here down the middle shows you the fish that you get outside of a spectral tide and then the fish that you get inside of a spectral tide and as you can see the fish in a spectral tide are worth a lot so if we just go to see all the fish you can see in a spectral tide you have fish that are worth like 178 and 84 but in other zones you have ones that are worth like 230 465 and if that's high quality that's double and then if you double hook it if you use the ability to double hook that's like 800 points so you'll see in the video that i show you like how i get a lot of points really really quickly uh through doing that so i'm gonna try to explain the intuition fish a little bit better um here we can see in this first zone there is the sealy sela deus geode and this shows here that uh you will get a buff after catching a specific quantity of fish that allows you to uh catch it so in this case after catching three metallic bok fit box fish you'll get fisher's intuition buff and be able to use a krill to catch the cladis geode which is worth 246 points so uh if that doesn't make sense you'll see it in the video but hopefully that's at least pretty clear so without further ado i'm going to get into the video and i'm just going to explain skip around it and explain what ocean fishing is in case you don't want to jump in without seeing an example or something like that all right so i'm just going to commentate over this as we go so this is the ocean fishing you can speak to that person to begin it and then when we get in it's uh it's pretty simple so you'll be waiting in this area here after a shortcut scene plays and soon they'll release you into the water so i double check here and make sure that i have the right bait before going and starting to fish so that's simple enough uh what i'm doing while i'm doing this is i'm looking at the website and i'm taking a look at the ocean fishing and just seeing like what uh like oh if it has a one star odds are i'm probably not going to get uh a lot of points because like like you can see the whole list of fish right so i see that uh one star is probably not going to be a huge amount but i also know that there are one star fugus which is the quest so this on the this thing on the right here shows the quest that you have to do and you get a bonus to your points for that so i'm looking at it like okay well maybe i want to use my double point to get a double fugu which i could get here uh you have to kind of do that thinking as as you're doing fishing if you want to optimize your points um yeah so that's what i'm doing here i i just use up all my uh gp right away so i can use a cordial and get some of it back as you can see and so far there's nothing really remarkable happening i want to make sure i have a good amount of gp available in case there's a spectral tide but more or less i'm just fishing now i'm not like super optimal about everything so don't use this is like the very best way but yeah so what we saw here was two things happened really quick uh we saw the dolphin buff happen and what the dolphin buff does is it increases the chance of a spectral current and it also uh increases the regeneration rate of gp so that's really good um you get uh both of those buffs if there hasn't been a spectral current yet in the stop and uh the if if there has been you just get the other buff so that's what that is on the side i just had to pause there because we're gonna see uh with that extra chance we get a spectral current really easily this is a very lucky run so once that happens i really want to start making sure i'm doing my double uh my double cast because we still have the dolphin buff regenerating gp right so i want to make sure that i'm using these when i can we can see my points go from 20 to 1000 to fifteen hundred pretty quick uh just from using them and i see now that i have my cordial up i wanna use another one of those to be able to benefit the most from the uh from the tides so that's what i'm doing in this area right now five so what we saw there is i did a double cast of a uh a double cast of a fish and because i fished it quick up quick enough i got four instead of two and so i got 500 points um yeah so we're just going to go through the rest of this one i continue to catch fugus doing good there and we're off to the next zone so in the next zone here my main priority in this in this run was trying to get all the fugus so uh on the website it shows you the goal overall for the whole ship and for this voyage it was to get 250 fugus across the party so across these eight people not the 24 on the ship we had to catch 250 fuvious which was uh uh quite a bit so yeah i wanted to make sure we would hit that goal or do our best to and i do want to say that aside from uh manta rays the uh mission for the voyage is uh is just for the the party not for the um yeah the the eight-person party that's that's what it counts for uh and so yeah we see another dolphin which is just really really good luck so we get the other chance of an increased spectral tide which is crazy so i was going for the bait that wasn't really optimal just to try to catch more fugus but um hey i mean if you get another spectral tight that's great three is always better than one and an extended one so i want to say that if you don't get a spectral tide um in the second zone then if you get one in the third zone it lasts for longer so it's not a huge deal it's not the end of the world so we'll see there's another spectral tide coming up here and we start doing the same thing i did in the previous step so we see that uh i'll start using my double cast i use my double cast a bunch here getting up my points at this point i'm doing really good on points for this zone uh my biggest problem is that i don't have ferocious bite fish now uh i try to remedy that coming out of the spectral tide here by switching to plump worms in a minute yeah but unfortunately i'll skip ahead a little bit uh we don't end up getting the other ferocious bites that we need but it's okay so this next zone here the final zone uh we [Music] see that we get a third spectral tied uh in a little bit now this is like the guy doesn't just keep doing runs until you get three spectral tides um but this was super good luck so i already had five thousand points at the point of this one here and just catching these uh fish here i want to say in general because the roclet muscles are coming up if you can mooch to catch another fish it's almost always a good idea that gives you a lot of points almost all those fish do and yeah so by the end of it i have 6600 i use a and then we're out of it so now i'll go over the end screen here these bonuses you get for completing missions and for your party completing missions so i was able to get a 90 bonus which is great uh really thankful for having a really good party for doing that and i got them out so uh there's a lot of good luck there but obviously also like if you didn't do those things you're not going to get them out you're going to be just shy you're going to have 8 000 or 9 000 points so you do need to do the methods that i went over in this video as well if you want them out but other than that uh yeah so hopefully uh that was useful for you guys um i'm just gonna go over the things that i covered in this video uh one more time so there's the website that you use the ocean voyages you go out to every two hours and just making sure you follow the steps that i laid out you'll be sure to eventually get the mount now this is all you do all the way from 1 to 80. so just a few things that you might want to know your gear does not matter all that matters is having a high gathering points so if you have if you're level 80 and you have like land saint gear you'll be totally good uh you don't need to get like penta melded a stick gear or anything like that the gp that i had was plenty uh you can just use level 80 gear that i laid out in my gear video which is in the description if you don't have your level 80 gatherer gear and if you're not level 80 yet just chill buy upgrades from the vendors that you've seen in that same video if you want the extra little bit of gp but other than that just go out every two hours set a set of timer on your phone go out every two hours and when i was doing it i think i had level 80 fisher in about two days uh two or three from level one so and i wasn't even doing every single one i was trying to but uh i didn't get every single one so this will be a really easy way for you guys to get your fishes leveled up all the way to uh level 80. so again this video is a little bit longer than other guides for ocean fishing the reason why is just because i really wanted to go into like how to get it i watched some other videos on how to get the mount and a lot of them were just like catch spectral fish but they didn't really go into the way to use abilities to your advantage so i thought i would actually go through a run where i got them out it was important to me to get them out before making this video uh so i could really show you guys how to do it not just talk out of my ass so yeah thank you guys for all the support on my channel and
