[Music] becoming one with the very weapons they wield the samurai has attained the peak of swordsmanship requiring superhuman focus to draw out the spirits locked into the forged steel of their blades samurai can also become a safe haven for allies offering them restoration protection and battle enhancements learning to utilize both hands for even higher melee damage a samurai used the katana to deadly effect against a single target protecting themselves with special evasion techniques and hp boosting heavy armor but be warned for what seems like an amazing end game class for your close combat bruisers is actually better served equipped as a secondary skill for casters in addition you will need to buy katanas to keep in your inventory for the chance that the weapon will break when used hi i'm mikey from tactics live tournament and today i have another episode in the job focus series the goal of these videos is to crack open the hood on each class present technical information in a simplified way and help you make better choices when raising your squad in today's job focus we're going to do a deep dive into the samurai class looking at their equipment choices how their abilities work and touch on how to manage their stats if you're building a pvp roster and want to include this stylish well-rounded tanky bruiser in a balanced way or you are itching to build up your iaido arsenal for using on a caster to flatten the story battles well let's sharpen our blades and slice our way into a samurai job focus session [Music] the samurai's main ability set iaido is an area of effect attack that only damages enemies and buffs or heals allies very similar to how the summoner's spells work these abilities are instant cast hit 100 of the time and cost no mp to use these magic based attacks give the samurai a unique close combat edge relying on more than their high physical attack to do damage to more than one opponent in addition some have a chance to apply status effects like slow confuse or doom in order to use these techniques you will need to buy extra katana of the corresponding name to keep in your inventory and you'll want to stock up as each katana has a chance to break equal to its weapon power because their eiudo techniques rely on ma for power this ability set does not achieve its full potential until used as a secondary ability set for caster classes don't let this deter you from using the samurai as an amazing tank with shira hidori being the only skill you need to dodge nearly all physical attacks paired with a double hand support skill you can create a truly devastating close combat nightmare to unlock the samurai you will need a level 2 squire a level 4 knight a level 3 archer a level 5 monk a level 3 thief and a level 2 dragoon this is the ultimate class for the melee tank roll so get ready for a serious grind [Music] samurai come to battle with just their sword leaving their shield to other classes for defense katana need a brave warrior to wield them and so your samurai's bravery factors in to how much melee damage they do this is exactly like night swords and your high bravery stat will also come into play later samurai do come with some level of protection in the form of heavy armor that can also don robes for additional magic attack power if needed this allows the samurai to sacrifice some hp in favor of strengthening their iaido damage for accessories the choices between movement physical or magic attack boost can all be argued successfully and ultimately depends on what type of build you are creating [Music] let's move on to the primary ability set for the samurai iaido we can divide the abilities into two categories damage and healing for all abilities you can derive the power for the spell by multiplying your magic attack by the strength factor for the individual ability for damaging abilities there is a steady increase in power and affect a two square radius with a height of three kiku ichimonji fires off in one of four directions in a straight line with eight tile range on the healing side which i prefer to learn first you have kiyomori which adds protectant shell murasame which heals hp in a radius and masamune which gives units haste and regen remember you need at least one of each katana you want to cast a spell with and katana such as masamune and chiro-jaradan cannot be purchased and only one of each exists in the game so use caution when attempting to draw out their powers as they can only break once before they're lost forever the samurai has access to two reaction abilities bone crusher and shira hadouri bonecrusher deals damage equal to your max hp and your unit is in critical condition now shira hidori on the other hand is a must have skill on every unit in your roster it's just that good shiradori is an evasion skill that uses your bravery as a factor in determining if you will dodge physical attacks even bullets shot from guns pumping up the bravery of your samurai guarantees he can go toe-to-toe with other bruiser units and be nearly immune to their attacks not to mention using shirahidori on cancers enables them to freely charge their spells without worrying about being struck down before the incantation is complete now it's important to note that shiradori only works against the first melee attack targeted against you for characters with dual wield that means the second attack will not be subject to shirahadori's evasion in addition simply lowering the unit's bravery will reduce the effectiveness of their dodges at a one to one ratio a unit with 70 bravery will dodge 70 of the time for support abilities the samurai can learn equipped katana and obvious enough ability to not need an explanation and they also have double hand which allows you to wield your main hand weapon with both hands increasing the weapon power by double this only applies to regular melee attacks and has no effect on skills like arts of war or jump and lastly we have the sole movement ability swim which allows the unit to move through deep water and even act in it the limited amount of water features and having to deal with a depth of two makes the skill look weak compared to simply casting float on a unit to achieve the same effect [Music] now it's time to take a look at the samurai stats for a bulky melee unit we shouldn't be surprised to see your standard three move three jump what may surprise you is the 20 evasion rate that comes standard with a samurai job class that's a great looking start to dodging close combat attacks and dodging is what you will need when we look at the rest of the samurai's class stats you'll be left with 75 hit to your hp 90 of your mp you do get a sweet 128 boost to your physical attack though retaining 90 of your magic attack and 100 of your speed that pa boost is pretty notable as it's higher than a ninja in a knight and only one percent lower than a monk for growth things don't look too great with substandard hp and mp growth and middle range physical attack growth magic attack and speed growth are standard it is unfortunate to see such a good class stat line with average growth since it will take some time to grind out all the jaw points needed to complete their amazing skill set [Music] samurai are top-notch tanky bruisers with an amazing skill set that every dedicated caster should take the journey into learning in addition to your classic melee damage dealers taking advantage of the samurai's high physical attack and naturally high dodge rate boost your samurai's bravery as much as possible not only for higher regular attacks with your katana but for higher dodge chances with shira hidori samurai can equip heavy armor for boosting their hp which they take a hit on from their class stats or they can boost their ma for stronger eiido by equipping robes instead either skills damage only enemies heal only allies and rely completely on your ma for their effectiveness beware that using e aido requires spare katana to be stored in your inventory and each technique has a chance to break that katana permanently which is equal to the katana's weapon power while boasting one of the highest pa class stats in the game their gross stats are unfortunately lackluster and the job requires a lot of grinding to learn making the time spent as a samurai sub-optimal for growing your stats this concludes this episode of the job focus series with the samurai i would like to take this opportunity to talk about developments for the tactics live tournament channel and share some upcoming content obviously the branding has changed slightly to remove any possible copyright conflicts i am working on updating all the graphics and animations including the opening sequence to give an extra bit of character and polish i also have another creator chat in the works with yoshinja moderator of tactics league to discuss what the experience has been like running a tactics pvp community and his goals for expanding this feature to more players lastly i kind of wanted to pick your brains on ways to monetize the channel through patreon which you can find links to in the description so that i can devote more time and energy into creating more content that delivers value to you the community i would love to hear your feedback on the suggestions i've put forth already on ways you can donate to the channel and get something memorable in return it's you folks out there who like and comment and share your experiences and thoughts on the game
