Every new car they release makes the 458 look more and more attractive. This looks as if the 458 just kept getting more inbred with every generation

Actual insane how a lot of these new Ferrari’s just look like any other exotic car. They don’t give that feel when you see it “yeah that’s a Ferrari”. This car doesn’t have an identity. For example Lamborghinis look like Lamborghinis but they all look unique at the same time. Idk this is hard to explain but I don’t like this because I’m not feeling it. I’m sure it’s a good car by exotic standards.

I have zero passion for this car. It’s too, clinical now. Turbo Ferrari’s have lost their soul, sure they are wicked fast but they, to me, just lack the emotional appeal that they once had.

I think it’s why I find so much appeal in the Huracan. Just a screaming, NA V10, you can’t beat that feeling that makes your skin tingle.

the 308 f430 458 italia time has blessed us with a rich history of v8 ferraris the latest being the new f8 which carries the most powerful ferrari v8 of all time it's a car built by ferrari to celebrate not only this achievement but also to honor its ability to consistently create the very best the hero takes center stage again seen this movie before but as good as ferrari's v8s might be there's loads of rivals out there a whole crowd of them that quite frankly offer similar performances all the excitement and the theater that we associate with prancing horse v8s that's not unique to marinello not anymore so if you're gonna celebrate yourself with a car that celebration better be pretty damn epic [Music] epic is a definite understatement this thing is outrageous the f8 spider is the drop top version of the f8 tripluto which is the replacement for the 488gtb apparently according to ferrari it's a slightly less hardcore version of the 488 pista but if this isn't hardcore acceleration i don't know what is this car was built to be a celebration of ferrari's mighty v8 engines and the one in the back of this has got to be one of the greatest of all time it's basically the engine from the 488 pista so it makes a massive 720 metric horsepower the same as you get in the mclaren 720s it will do naughty 62 in 2.9 seconds 211 miles an hour flat out and it will do naught to 124 miles an hour in 7.6 seconds that's quicker than most hot hatches will go from zero to 60. it is devastatingly fast once your foots properly connected the f8 770 newton meters of torque is as urgent as you'd expect from a high performance turbocharged engine but with lag so minimal you'd swear it was naturally aspirated there is a problem though i mean what is wrong with these pedals why is the brake pedal so close to the accelerator i'm literally pressing both at once i can't be having that hold on one second i'm sorry this is a bit embarrassing it's not like i've got big feet i'm size 11. tell you what these italian designers don't think about uk foot sizes do they [Music] onwards so the engine's a winner then it's one international engine of the year 2016 engine of the year 2017 engine of the year 2018 engine of the year 2019 an engine of the last 20 years it is fabulous in every single aspect except one it doesn't actually sound that good let me show you what i mean the engine in the f8 isn't quite the same as you get in the pista because the exhaust has a gas particulate filter installed which means it doesn't sound quite as good as you might expect i'll demonstrate over here is an old and very beautiful ferrari 360. it's this car's great granddad and this thing doesn't have any turbos or gas particulate filters and it sounds like this yeah 122 decibels the f8 in contrast sounds like this yeah 106 decibels this thing might go like it's the best engine of all time but sure as hell doesn't sound like it you could argue it doesn't look like much of a celebration either it might have a new name but it uses the same platform and very similar design cues to cars that came before it put the f8 next to its daddy and its granddaddy and you might struggle to tell them apart without some very thorough examination so let's do exactly that starting with the rear the f8 has a set of quad circular brake lights on the 488 you had twins and i think this is actually a much better implementation i'm also a big fan of these centrally mounted exhausts and of course the massive rear diffuser around the side you've got 20 inch wheels front and rear with carbon ceramic brakes and these lovely blue brake calipers which match the blue leather interior but there are a lot of very fussy aerodynamic elements in this car's profile for example these aero optimized door handles and this fin on the air intake plus these sharks fins on the lower sills this one especially for me it's just a little bit too big and disrupts this car's otherwise beautiful design around the front definitely this car's best angle there are a couple of elements you want to know about first and foremost the lights on the old 488 they extended the full length of this j-shaped section here but they now stop halfway again for aerodynamic reasons air now flows into these channels and gets fed into the wheel arch to cool the brakes and also relieve pressure in the wheel arch very nice second element you want to know about is the s-duct you might be familiar with this here's how it works air gets fed into this lower channel doubles back on itself and flows over the bonnet and the roof of the car to provide front downforce very cool very stylish but not as stylish as this let me show you this car's boot inside here you've got quite a large opening for suitcases and other luggage and speaking of luggage you've got a pair of exquisite man bags one is for your tyre puncture repair kit and the second is a little tool kit which contains screwdrivers and other bits and pieces to allow you to do running repairs on your f8 and the coolest addition inside this is this look a little pair of white gloves that will allow you to change your tires without getting your hands dirty i mean your gloves will get dirty but how cool is that shimon it's little touches like this which give you a feel-good factor about driving a ferrari and there's one addition that should add an even bigger feel-good factor the roof this is the f8 spider which means it's a drop top and you can operate the roof in as little as 15 seconds at speeds of up to 30 miles an hour and with the roof down the car takes on a completely different character you start to appreciate it not for its hardcore nature but for how good it actually makes you feel you start to notice things like the amount of space you get in a mclaren you and your passenger are virtually on top of each other but in this you got so much room you start to notice things like the amazing seats which not only look great but are also supportive and very comfortable you've got bumpy road mode you press the button on the steering wheel and it just softens up the suspension and allows you to glide over imperfections in the road you've got apple carplay you've got a little display down there for your passenger so they know exactly what's going on at any given time but then you start to notice something potentially catastrophic with the roof down the structural rigidity of the car decreases massively there's noticeable body flex that gives the car a nervous disjointed feel the steering wheel shutters the body shakes and flexes you can hear and feel it moving around and the experience is less pleasurable as a result this would have been commonplace years ago but today not so much it's a floor and any floor on a 225 000 pound ferrari shines brightly and then you notice that this car might be new but the aluminium chassis that it sits on is old a mclaren with its carbon fiber monocoque feels super stiff whether the roof is up or down it feels like it was hewn from solid granite this thing feels like it was hewn from jello where it feels especially disappointing is when you're driving slowly but i found a solution for that never drive slowly luckily speed is never far away in this car it is outrageously fast this engine deserves every single accolade you want to throw at it it's brilliant but honestly the star of the show isn't the engine it's the gearbox ferrari's seven speed manual upstages it's 3.9 liter v8 it is tremendous these carbon fiber paddle shifters feel amazing in your hands and they work so well they shift fast and seamlessly up and down through the gearbox but then you twist the mandatino put it into race mode and all of a sudden velvet glove becomes iron fist and the shifts just get violent it sends a shutter for the entire car and it just makes the entire driving experience so much more involving ah who cares about manual gearboxes when you've got a box as good as this as for handling the f8 is unsurprisingly remarkable the steering is the highlight fast without being nervous and full of feel allowing you to place the car where you want it but to react quickly when the situation demands it there's loads of grip in this car so you feel immensely confident leaning on the front end and letting the tires do the work quite often in mid-engine supercars the back end can feel nervous and unpredictable especially when you're dealing with masses of power but in this not a bit of it there's actually a lovely balance to this car it feels massively fast don't get me wrong but it also feels properly under control much of that control is taken care of by ferrari's electronic systems the f8 uses the latest version of side slip angle control and ferrari dynamic enhancer plus applies brakes to the inside wheel to minimize what possibility of understeer there might be is it as capable and enjoyable as it should be yes is it as capable and enjoyable as it could be no and that's a scary thing this car is still brilliant despite the fact that it uses an aging chassis so just imagine how good the next generation of v8s is gonna be the f8 is an exceptional supercar but is it a worthy tribute to ferrari's impressive v8s of old the simple answer is yes objectively it's a better car than those that came before it thanks to a superlative engine that just keeps getting better from generation to generation ferrari does face stiff competition from its rivals some of whom have delivered faster alternatives with better chassis construction especially in convertible guys but the f8 is still an exceptional machine it's a reminder that this v8 ferrari indeed all v8 ferraris should be [Music] celebrated [Music] so [Music] you
