I want to talk to you tonight about the kingdom of love and the Father's love in particular and why it is so vitally important some of you knew our friend Jack Frost how many knew Jack okay he's with the Lord now and we miss him like crazy because he was a champion of this message but he said something to me one day said John you know there's something more fundamental in Christianity than than the cross and so I wasn't sure where he was going with that so I said okay so like what Jack he says like the Father's love now see if you'd have asked me prior to that what is that what is the central thing in Christianity I probably would have said the cross because it's very central but he said not the central thing but he said there's something more fundamental than the cross and I asked him what that was and he said that would be the Father's love and I'm like okay so if you got a scripture for that he said yes John 3:16 for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son so it's the Father's love that was the motivation behind Jesus coming and dying on the cross for your sin and mine and see many of us has had a sort of a stereotype of well I would have put it this way sort of a working operating theology for me was Jesus's okay but watch out for God the Father right and somehow I got the idea that he was like the big cop in the sky who wanted to get ahold of you and put you under a microscope and point out about a thousand things that are still wrong with you and and so it was just that kind of a I don't know reading the Old Testament and not being able to put it together with the new I somehow missed a very important part even though experientially I should have known better but you know what you can't learn everything all at once and it it just takes time to to figure out what's going on but what we need in human nature is to be to have our foundation in this stuff called the love of God and so I think maybe as a text we should turn to Ephesians chapter 3 you know when I open the book of Ephesians I always want to start reading further back already because it's also good but we won't read the whole book we're just going to read a portion of verse 3 but Paul is writing here and he's talking but hey the mystery it has been revealed now that which was kept secret from the beginning of time in the human race is now being revealed to us and and it's the mystery of Christ in us and verse 9 theirs is to make all see what is the Fellowship of the mystery which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in heavenly places and so what is this mystery and if we move down to verse 17 just to make it briefer that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith how many realize that's important I mean you got a yet it starts with Jesus he's he's the doorway in to everything that God has for you and he really has everything for you but Jesus is the door he he paid your debt he reconciled you you know with he made your peace with God available and we go through that door and he now dwelling in your heart through faith so that you can be rooted and grounded in love does it say that in your version what versions are we reading here I've got the new King James I like the new King James because I spent so many years in the King James Learning Old English and memorizing that and interpreting all those words so this has a bit of a more familiar ring to me but it's not as plain as the NIV in others but see with that that you and I may be rooted and grounded in love so that you can comprehend how big this deal is because this is a very big deal that you may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height of this and to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge by the way that you may be filled say filled with all of the fullness of God how many would like that now we heard a testimony here about getting filled with with with God with his fullness now that what they got was a little bit and a little bit can be quite overwhelming it it's high-powered stuff but the but the secret of getting more of him is actually getting rooted and grounded in the love of God and so when we talk about the love of God it's it becomes mysterious to a lot of people because what it involves is intimacy trust relationship and and and walking together and you know there's a whole load of dynamics that are pretty scary for people who have been wounded and hurt again and again and again and again and part of the reason for that is our our trust has been broken in life I'm thinking of a story that I heard about where the guy who worked in prisons he got the idea that you know wouldn't it be great if we could somehow make Mother's Day cards available for for the prisoners for the men in a men's prison and so he went to some some manufacturers and this and that and they got a whole bunch of Mother's Day cards and they made them available for for the prisoners and it was a huge success they all wanted want they got them and they got on board with it they wrote on the card to their mother thank you mom dah dah dah and and it was a huge success and hundreds and hundreds of mothers got a Mother's Day card from their son who was in jail good deal right if you've ever had a son in jail you'll know that that that that would feel pretty good so they thought wow this is great why don't we do the same for Father's Day cards and so they did and they got ahold a bunch of Father's Day cards but you know not a single prisoner wanted a Father's Day card I wouldn't send my old man a card in my life deep on it I hate him he abandoned us he abused us he does either he the other and so for for so many people father has become like a bad word and so when we start saying hey God is your father all of a sudden all these stereotypes come up and were like I don't want anything to do with that and we buy into this thing where Jesus is okay and I think the Holy Spirit's okay but but God the Father no thanks I want nothing to do with that now we need to move back into Center where we have a revelation that God the Father is the best father ever and he's a good good father do you guys sing that song here and and so we have to go through a bit of a learning curve to know what fathers are supposed to be like and so we can appreciate how he really is all the time and he's not an angry cop in the sky who wants to bust you he's an absolute loving father who wants to nurture you help you get to know you and it was his idea to save you in the first place because that's what's behind the cross yeah and this is so fundamental that we need a major cultural shift not just in North America and us in Canada and Mexico but all over the whole globe Carol and I've had the privilege of being in many countries and I came to the conclusion long ago that this is the absolute crying needed the hour that people have had such negative experiences with fathers for the most part that it has warped them and caused the dysfunction it's it's a big big root of dysfunction so just out of curiosity how many in the room have never heard their father or their mother say these words I love you my son I love you my daughter I mean I've never heard that just unashamedly hold your hand up I know Carol here my precious her mother was never able to say I love you Carol until she was 90 years old and for at least 15 or 20 years Carol with this revelation was working on her mom and worked on the issues and hers was not a father issue per se it was a mother issue and and that could be every bit as devastating because from our mother were supposed to learn how you can trust emotionally and therefore embrace a father and on and on you know so we really need godly parents to model this stuff called love to us so that we can we can be normal in the sent in that sense and not be dysfunctional in these whole thing's so just a word to all the dads here and the moms tell your kids all the time I love you I heard people say you know I my dad loved me he said what did he ever tell you no but he you know he worked hard he provided for us we we you know had vacations and we did this and that so I know yeah and so that's important too because you don't want a dad who says I love you I love you I love you but he doesn't provide for you he doesn't take care of the other stuff they both need to go together but there's something about the human heart that needs to hear those words I don't like a day to go by that Carol doesn't hear me tell her that I love her and I'll even ask her something how I told you today that I love you and she's like no you have it and so I'll tell her and she tells me he said well isn't that kind of weird no for the kingdom of love that's that's the culture and see if your culture that we run into this if your culture is out of sync with that guess which one should move Carol has a whole German background now she's a couple of generations here but prior to that they're from Germany so I used to say the poor thing she doesn't have a drop of English blood but anyway when when we were going to Germany for the first time she learned how to say I love you in German ich liebe dich and so we're over in Germany and she's going home you know it's the people and they'd look at early early yeah and so finally one person came said Carol we don't say that to one another in Germany we might say we like you but you don't say I love you because that's that's just that's over the top you know we just don't talk that way in our culture and when she heard that she set out on a mission to teach all of Germany to get comfortable with saying those words I love you it doesn't just mean sex you know it means I care about you as a person I I really really do and it's interesting that was that was Jesus question to Peter after the resurrection you know he appeared to them on the shore hey have you got any fish don't anyway they got the boat load and dragged the net in and and there's Peter standing in front of Jesus and his question is Peter do you love me and in the question embarrassed him do you a gap a me Peter he says lord I I fill a oh you I love you but you're Mike you're my friend and yes I love you I phileo the acids they told him well go feed my lambs asked him again Peter do you love me using the word agape with this this broad unselfish God centered love and Peter has to say well yeah I I fill a oh you I I love you and well then go feed my sheep then he asked him the third time but the third time he uses the word phileo he said Peter do you feel AoE you're all familiar with that word the city of Philadelphia means the City of Brotherly Love okay and Peter's grieve the scripture says it cut him in his emotion the Lord is saying do you do you love me like a friend even Lord do you know that I love you well then get on with it then and it was restorative to Peter because he had denied the Lord three times I wonder what the accuser was saying to him over that one yeah you go tell him Peter tell him to be faithful just like you are you hypocrite and he had to have healing for that and and that was a very very moment for him but still the question stands do you love the Lord and what does that look like and see loving him is different than working for him and so if someone says do you love him and you say yeah well then how can you how can you show that but what evidence is there and so what he's looking for is a heart-to-heart connection he's not asking about what are you doing for me that's a different question that's important too but first of all he wants kids that love him and it's not it's not a love that's undeserved I mean he's not there saying I demand that you love me no it's like when you find out what he's really like and what kind of a person he really is you won't be able to help yourself but you see you you discover his love through faith and it's that's the interface that that works with this and so we need to realize that when when we when we tap into this stuff called love most of our perspective is from life experiences that are distorted that are broken that are only in part and we we have a bit of a learning curve to find out about the love of God so you need to get some teaching on it but you need to get some experience of it and when Carol and I returned from Argentina in November of 93 freshly being prayed for by through Claudia Friesen and the impartation that we got it was like a final piece of many years and many encounters but something really turned loose we caught something in Argentina and we came home expecting a healing revival because that's what Katherine did that's what Benny Hinn did that's what John Wimber did mostly and and and that's what claudia was doing it we we thought well yeah that's let's do a monthly Healy meeting and I called Randy and asked him to come because I'd heard something happen with him and he came and on January that 20th he shared a testimony but what the Holy Spirit was doing and invited people forward and as he did people went to get up out of their seats and that's when it happened the Holy Spirit fell on us and it was like a bomb went off in the room and we were just the it exploded into a glorious chaos of laughter and wailing and yelling and shaking and and you know is summarized by one of our pastors Mary audrey who was our women's pastor at that time she her she's teaching in the next room she heard all this commotion and I mean how many can you fit in here mark is this about 300 yeah well our church was about this size but and we we would mash 400 in there for the revival but that night there was like a hundred and fifty or one hundred and forty something like that and so she heard all this commotion is a Thursday night and she said I I gotta go find out what they're doing over there and she opened the side door and her first thought is where is everybody because she's expecting a roomful of people on their feet and just yelling and cheering and going for it or whatever but she's where's everybody and she realized they're under the chairs they're between the rows they're in the aisles and there and just something's on them God is on them and she's like oh my gosh our mouth fell open and bam she down on her face for like 20 30 minutes we were overpowered by this way presence of the Holy Spirit and see we were wanting a healing revival but that's that's not what we got I mean people got healed but but what we got was was the Holy Spirit coming in and going deep into the hearts of people and he was binding up the brokenhearted and healing the bruised and setting the captives free it was an emotional cleansing in a relational connecting and it was it was incredible and I realized it was God but it just took me by surprise and people were calling it the laughing revival in those days and how terrible is it that people are laughing at church and why would they be caring about laughing and all that kind of stuff and it's but through all the joy that healing that happened and it was a revelation of the Father's love over and over and over again and I just got hooked on all the stories about how marriages were healed how relationships were healed how it all happened and and we realized that the stuff that we had been learning down through the years about a revelation of the Father's love and then the importance of inner healing for the heart and the importance of learning to hear God's voice I mean that all was just keyed in to what the Holy Spirit was doing and it surprised me and it took a while to figure it out but then once we got it we were like yeah we're gonna run with this this is this is so life-giving so here's the problem we get wounded in life and we start to disconnect emotionally and we start to distrust what people say and that word love is a tricky word people could say hey I love you I love you some of you ladies can relate to this some guy comes along he loves you he loves you he loved you by the way can I borrow some money and you know the next thing you know he's gone and so your money and so you're cautious now when people use that L word right why our hearts have learned to distrust so the heart is a slow learner because of preconditioning of negative circumstances in life but that's not the kingdom of God the kingdom of God is a kingdom of love and so now we've got to unlearn some things and come back in faith and it's not that you're you're gonna be stupid or be a doormat for the devil it's just that when you connect with the God of love and faith it releases a tremendous power for you to live in victory as you access they the power of the kingdom and they're here and now so let's look at some scriptures well before we do that I wanted to mention how it looks now in what we call normal human life have you ever seen that clip by Pixar about the birds have you can anybody seen that maybe we need to get that on the internet we could show it tomorrow night or something but anyway there's there's there's these wires and a sort of a country scene and a bird flies and sits on the wire and you know he stretches the next thing you know another one comes but he's too close you know and there's one guy stretching and the other ones there and they bump into each other in their language you know give me some room and and more and more come and all these birds are squabbling back and forth they're trying to find their own pecking order and they want their own space but then there's a big bird over there go Lulu or something and and and they're all like ooh and they start mocking it and anyway it's it's it's really a cute little clip because the the big bird gets his gets the last laugh shall we say but its life becomes this pecking order of who can dominate who and see that's not the kingdom of God happily that's not what you're gonna spend eternity doing and so we're being called out of that out of that kind of orphaned behavior and I use that word not to offend anyone who's actually a real orphan but just to say that all of us have orphaned tendencies were we don't know we've got a loving father who's watching over us who's going before us is going behind us who corrects us when we need it he bothers us but he's also our Heavenly daddy Abba and and you know he's he's righteous in all his ways and you have an you have a righteous judge that you can appeal to there's there's so much about him that we we our heart needs to learn how big this deal is about this stuff called the love of God so that you can get rooted and grounded in it so Scriptures Romans 14:17 the kingdom of God is not about religious rules you know eating and drinking this or that but righteousness peace and joy in the Holy Spirit think about that the kingdom righteousness peace joy in the holy spirit who's ordering the kingdom a kingdom is the domain of the king and it's God's kingdom isn't it Luke 12:32 favorite scripture of mine I have it over the door of our church there's two doorways into our sanctuary and that's over one of them and it says this fear not little flock it is your father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom you know that takes all the performance off of us doesn't it hey you don't have to get in there and and fight for your place in the pecking order it's his good pleasure to just give it to you I love that verse John 16 27 jesus said this the father himself loves you let that one sink it we turned to somebody and say the father himself loves you tell somebody else the father himself loves you first John 4:8 says God is love it's not that it can be loving he is love one word describes them better than any other word God is love therefore loving and of course Matthew 22:37 I preached on that verse so many times Jesus what's the greatest commandment in all the Bible huh that's easy love the Lord with all your heart with all your soul all your strength and all your mind seconds like it love your neighbors yourself so in a word love you want to be a Christian learn to love if you're going to love you got to learn to forget yeah if you're going to love you have to you have to learn humility you have to you have to learn how to you know be secure in that love so that you can let stuff roll off you you don't have to get angry every time somebody steps on your toes because life is tough sometimes am I talking to anybody here well as Christians we need to move from light to love and growing up Baptist the emphasis for me at least was on truth you got to have sound doctrine you got to get your doctrine straight and my doctrine is better than your doctrine and and so it just became that whole thing it's measured by performance it seemed to be fear-based it was a work for your acceptance and approval it was full of self effort it was mission and task motivated and of course ultimately you faced God the judge and what we find now and in the New Covenant the the kingdom is measured by faith now not so much performance although when love and faith are at the core the performance is going to be even greater Carol and I would say you know lovers will outperform the workers about two-to-one at least yeah it's just the because they keep thinking they're having fun people are like John you're 75 now you're going and going all over the place how do you keep doing it I think well I just keep thinking I'm having fun we love what we do it's just amazing I hope you love it too but that's that's the love side it's working from acceptance rather than for acceptance working from approval rather than working for approval do you see the difference it's relationally motivated realizing God as a loving father so this what we're talking about the revelation of the Father's love is perhaps the greatest need among Christians globally we've been everywhere teaching this stuff in our leader schools and so on and you know when when when people get it it kind of goes from a teaching down into their spirit it just changes everything and I got some examples if we have time later but Jesus came to bring us into this love kingdom how many want to go you know I was thinking about this a month or two ago that Lord I'm so glad it's a love kingdom because I wouldn't have lasted if it was a do it or else kingdom and I wonder I was just thinking out loud I wrote to him and wondering of the Lord how long in eternity would I have lasted if it was that you do what I say or else see how elite arable hell is pretty hot hell is real by the way and so I don't want to go there and so I probably would have lasted four or five thousand years I would have behaved myself but I'm sure the day would have come where I would have got you know what I can't play this game anymore just go ahead and throw me in because I'm done does anybody relate to that I mean where where are all the renegades you know there is that true Carroll what if what I haven't made it 5000 years there maybe no that's really pushing it because I don't do well on that kind of do what you're told or else kind of thing and most of us don't but see that's not what he's like this is a love Kingdom and I realized that because that's true you know I can plan on being with him forever and just rediscovering the depths of his love the depths of his majesty oh the depths of the goodness and the grace and how's that scripture go it's just he's mind-blowing basically and we spend a whole year a couple of years ago just exploring the depths of the wisdom of God in Scripture and it just blew us away didn't it Carol but that would be another sermon God loves you and he wants you to love him and it comes by revelation if I could teach it to you I mean I would and that's a part of what we're doing here just to get us thinking about it but it's got to be more than teaching there has to be a divine encounter there has to be a revelation that comes there's three journeys that you and I are on the inward the upward and the outward you're not just on a mission to save the Lost and work for God there's the inward journey which determines how well you're going to do at the other two and it's a journey of the heart and what he wants to do is is bring good stuff in and take bad stuff out how many would like that so the good stuff comes in and the bad stuff goes out well what comes in love joy peace patience gentleness meekness temperance faithfulness and self-control so I'm glad you mentioned self-control because you know I've been looking around this room there's people look like they're out of it some of them to me and you need to realize that the gift of self-control is a gift for you to control yourself that's not a a fruit for you to control the Holy Spirit or whatever he may want to do are we clear on that so if he wants to blind you like he did to Paul on the road to Damascus he can do just that look to me like Paul was out of control if I'd have been there watching maybe he's like whoa what's going on hey guys where I'm where are we lead me into town he's out of control but he's not because the Holy Spirit is taken over are you up for that see that that's a critical moment when you when you get prayer you feel yourself going and you're like oh I don't want to lose control and you resist but see you want to surrender once you're sure that it's God who's taking over because now you're in really good hands okay that's just by the way but the inward journey will heal you and determine how well you can do in the upward journey which is your response to him you know John chapter 4 tells us that the father is seeking those who will worship Him in truth and in spirit that's what he wants from you he's normal he's like a father what does a father want from his two-year-old just their love just their response we're talking about a healthy functional family here and see that's what he wants from you he wants your love first afford it it's not demanded you will love me you will act like a little robot and on cue you will say I love you he's not the here's what the it's got to be the heart you know does the deed the emotions are connected to this and so this stuff called love is packed full of emotion and we're taught many times in church that emotions are not good right we don't want to all that emotional stuff you Karris Mattox you're way too emotional well if it's a kingdom of love we ought to see some emotion what does love look like if you if you suck all the feelings out of it how many how many here one a marriage like that no no feelings you know I've I've used this example before I said why would two thinking people put their mouths together right why do they do that they do it all over the world don't you know how many germs are in another person's mouth see if you start analyzing it like that you'll just ruin the moment right we do it because it feels good it feels good to have someone who loves you and of course with your children it's different than with your wife or husband but it still feels good to be hugged and to be told you're a treasure and to be treasured and to be cared for them to be protected and to be valued and all that stuff and so here we are in a dysfunctional society that is searching for significance and relationship and scared to death of it because they've had so many wounding experiences all along the way with no solution and they don't know that the solution is in finding the love of God so when they finally get on the outward journey if you're a person like that who's never discovered the Father's love what kind of a Christian witness are you you know it reminds me like of a Christian scalp hunter out looking for souls got another one today glory to God see what we want is to is to love people in win them in and be able to bring them into a family that is a safe place for them to be accepted just the way they are we used to tell our young people come as you are and and you'll be loved you just come as you are because God loves you exactly the way you are right now but he loves you too much to leave you the way you are so you're gonna grow you're gonna go from glory to glory and all that's all that's gonna happen and and it'll just carry on from there well for me it started kind of when I discovered Kathryn Kuhlman and I would listen to her a read her book listen to her in the radio and you know what she was different than all the other preachers because you didn't you didn't hear her or sit under her ministry where she would beat you up with the Bible and tell you how you were not measuring up you don't give enough you don't witness enough you don't read enough you don't this or that or the other enough she would just talk about the love of God and and all life's experiences and then transition into the most powerful miracles I'd ever seen and it kind of gave me a whole different take on how this needs to be and so the opportunity came for me to go to Israel the first time in 1974 how many were not even born yet in 1974 how many were born already 1974 oh good we got some of we got some old people in here good and you know I'll never forget Katherine Coleman in that meeting she's like well we've heard all week about the Holy Spirit and now it's time to see him in action and oh boy did we see him in action but it wasn't her meeting that got me it was a guy named David do place' and here he was called mr. Pentecost and he was he was known for the love of God and taking the charismatic renewal to the Catholics and the Anglicans and the Presbyterians and the Methodists and on and on and and so now the whole charismatic Pentecostal movement is reeling because all these these Episcopalians are coming in and they still smoke and they still drink and it just you know it's just confusing everybody you know so I go into this Congress Hall and the whole platform is lined with priests and nuns and Episcopalians and Presbyterians and everything and empting it what are all those guys doing on their platform they're probably not even saved this just judgmentalism you know well david do plus he got up and he started preaching and he would say so some of you are being critical of others around you because they're different than you and you're in you're full of judgments towards others and my question for you is why can't you love them because that's the the commandment of the Lord love one another and he kissed this kept on and on and on and on with that why can't you love them why can't you love them because they're different than you why I mean and I felt like he shot my heart full of arrows I was just so convicted it just got all over me and and I think I was weak from all that fasting you know and and I just lost it publicly I could not hold it together anymore and I'm just weeping and blubbering and out of control and the the guy was with he's like I don't know who he is you know you're good but I just I got undone by the Holy Spirit and you know I was just such on the edge all the time wherever we would go I can remember we went into the Church of All Nations on the Mount of all I was a very Catholic you know and I'm in there like okay and but the priest said well the the altar there's no altar in there there's just like this little fence around it rock and that's a well what's the significance of this oh well this is where the Lord knelt and and prayed out if it be possible let this cup pass from me nevertheless not my will but thine be done I said that happened here he said yeah I just completely lost it again in that shirt and you know it was just so undone I was just I didn't care anymore and just I was going around crying tears streaming down my face well I'd go home at night to the hotel my friend's asleep like that and I'm thinking about all that God's doing and the next thing you know these waves of God's presence would just come upon me and as I remember them they start coming again you know and it just would be more and more and more and I think I got about 6 or 7 hours sleep the entire week because I just could not sleep in this and I remember saying God if one more wave comes on me I'm not going to live through that but it came anyway and I did live through it but it was just it just so rocked my world that was something had changed and I didn't know what it was if you two said well what happened to you I was well it was the love of God I guess Jesus just came and poured his love out on me because that was my grid at the time now I would say it was a revelation of the Father's love well fast forward now ten years now it's about 1984 Carol and I got I came home from that trip to disaster the end of my first marriage Carol and I got married on June and June of 1979 so we've been married now for 37 years and we went on a missions trip to Indonesia for a month in 1980 and the Lord called us to plant a church in her hometown which we did in 81 and we wanted a love church we don't want to be like all the others just blasting everybody for their sin and imperfection we wanted to love people and we had this we just our church was about 75% new converts and there were all young people was great Ivan Ann Isabel who you've had here Ivan was one of them well we had why when friends said you guys need tamp Jack winter really was he talked about the father heart of God what the heck is that well you know God as a father God as a loving father okay so Jack came and he put the theology behind this that I needed and he opened to John chapter 4 John 14 which is perhaps my most favorite chapter in all the Bible he started reading let not your heart be troubled you believe in God believe also in me and my father's house are many mansions if it were not so I would have told you and I'm going to prepare a place for you are you happy about that by the way and if I go and prepare a place for you I'll come and get you are you happy about that the coming of the Lord is at hand by the way and I'll receive you unto myself so where I am there you may be also and and he he just carried on reading that and and I just need to turn to it so you really get the full impact here and I need my glasses on so I can read what I'm turning to but turn up to John 14 with me he came to this part and if I go and prepare a place for you I'll come again and receive you to myself that where I am there you may be also and where I go you know and the way you know so Thomas interrupts and wait a minute we do not know where you're going so how can we possibly know the way that's my paraphrase there Jesus said to him I am the way the truth and the life no one comes to the Father except through me now that was a very familiar verse I'd led many people to Jesus with that versing the Bible's clearly saying that Jesus is the only way in you must come to Jesus if you're planning on going to heaven when you die and so that that was my context but Jack stopped right there Jack winter and he said so where are we going I said we're going to heaven jack he said okay but what does it say someone else says we're going to eternal life yeah but what does it say maybe we should read it again no one comes unto the Father and he says we're going to the Father you know I had a brief moment where I didn't know if I wanted to do could see the father dialed up all this father's don't care fathers are you know they never keep their promises they're gone you know that they have all these expectations and I've read about the father in the Bible he's gonna put me under a microscope and tell me there's still this 10,000 things wrong with you what's wrong with you and I I didn't know if I wanted that or not I was happy to go to heaven and hang out with the likes of you and be with Jesus and see Abraham and David and Moses you know but the father that bright light way over there no no we're just stay away from that that kind of a that kind of a you know just a mental picture and it's and Jack is saying no no he's not like what you think and he kept reading and see I don't know how I missed it for so long it's my only regret after being a Christian for so many years is that I didn't get the most important thing in all the Bible that God's nice and he's a loving father why does it take our heart so long to learn that because we come with baggage and so if you had known me you would have known my father also from now on you've seen him you know him and I've seen him and Philip interrupts why not just show us the father already and that will suffice and now Jesus is surprised have I been with you so long and yet you have not known me Philip he has seen me has seen the father how can you say show us the father do you not believe that I'm in the father and the father is in me the words that I speak to you I do not speak of my own authority but the father who dwells in me he does the works believe me that I'm in the father and the father's in me or else believe me for the sake of the works and Jack unpacked that for us and I realized that behind every thing that Jesus did was the Father's love and the fathers are to see I fell in love with Jesus first of all because of what he was doing he was always helping people I think he's he's the king and he's a great leader I love that about him he's always helping people he's healing them he's he's caring about them I mean I love that about him then I fell in love with him because of all his words that were just so incredible as wisdom and everything and then then I finally realized this is not just a program he's on or a mission he's really like this he's really really nice and so we love him and out come to find out the father's just the same I was like wow and I realized that behind all the miracles that I loved about Jesus is the heart of the loving father so when this leper comes to him in mark chapter 1 and said if you're willing you could make me clean what's his answer I am willing be clean then scripture says he did something none of us would do he touched him and I think it was more than just a touch you know I think it was like a big old hug and this leper can you imagine nobody ever touched him his old mother hadn't touched him in many years he was contagious they all knew it he was marginalized stay away I'm a leper on the lamb / and now somebody touches him this great famous rabbi evangelist going around touched him and healed him and see what's the motivation it's coming from the father himself and it's like wow how did I miss that this is so important this is the God of love manifesting himself through Jesus Christ the son now listen to this first Matthew 11:27 we're gonna have to cut it short there's so much more but anyway no one knows the Father except the Son Jesus said Matthew 11:27 and Luke 10:20 two very important verses make a note of them no one knows the Father except the Son and those two who the son chooses to reveal him you raise your hand say Lord picked me see so this is not something that hey come and get it you know no no no this there's something here where si love an intimate love intimate connection it's not just something cheap that you can all just come and get there is a weighing of hearts there's a looking at motivation there's a there's a testing as as hearts grow together and and and and and righteousness and truth and and the strength of relationship honesty integrity all of that is is is tested and brought together and so the son chooses to reveal this love to people this is this is out there for us and we can begin to desire it Lord will you come and reveal the Father's love to me and so when you realize it's not just a teaching it's it's a revelation now we're talking about divine encounter and that's what happens to people when we're when they're out under the power let's see I don't care if they lie they're still or if they laugh and roll and shake and yell and it just doesn't matter to me because the whole process is about good stuff going in and bad stuff coming out very often all at the same time but at the end of the day you're left with a revelation of the God of love who came to you in the special way and met that heart cry for will somebody please just care about me will somebody just help me with this ache and pain and this rejection and this fear and the shame and the stuff that I carry and here he comes and I was with you every one of those moments I'm telling you there is a kingdom of love out there for you that you can have access to at whatever level you want how many want more yes and when you say more it's like okay you embrace his values that I want more humility like he imagined that king of the universe is full of humility what kind of a king is full of humility but he is how does Jesus come to the earth not like a ruling rich tyrant or whatever but no he he's born in a in a stable for goodness sake and they didn't recognize him he they crucified him but he was the king of kings and Lord of lords he modeled humility to you and I he loves humility he loves servanthood it's the upside down Kingdom really it's different than the world that we're used to and it works by caring about people and caring about loving them to life that's why we all love Heidi so much you know she's just out there winning them one after another all these unwanted orphan kids you know and makes men and women of God out of them read 1st Corinthians chapter 13 won't you the love chapter love never fails how do I get there desire it forgive encounter have a revelation it comes by divine revelation let's all stand together
