FACING MY BIGGEST FEAR…

[Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] how are you guys doing tonight I thought I'd face my big sphere when I went on America's Got Talent and The Ellen Show shooting objects off famous people's heads even dangling from my neck 30 feet up in the air that was all terrifying but little did I know there was something a lot scarier that was weird [Applause] [Music] when I was 12 years old I discovered contortion and it led me to do amazing things that I will always be grateful for but let's rewind a bit to my nine-year-old self singing in the living room without care and Performing concerts in the front room with my brother it was always my dream to sing on a big stage somewhere but As I Grew Older I became more self-conscious about my voice after years of putting my singing off to the side I finally put out two songs I just want to give a big shout out to my brother for producing this song and people actually like that Sophie is a globally renowned type of growing artist she debuted her first single bunny I'm on a billboard guys this is literally insane then I got a call hi Sophie how are you good how are you we're wondering if you'd be interested in singing in front of a live audience so it would be at VidCon what do you think [Music] um can I get back to you on that actually yeah so you'll have about a week and then we're gonna have to start looking for other people because it's coming up okay all right we will talk soon then okay yeah talk to talk soon since I was so unsure of myself I went to a lot of my friends and family and got advice from them and if I should do the show at all so I got a call from VidCon and they want me to form right okay which was like normally like fine right yeah but perform singing do you think I should do it I told them I told them I don't know and I'll get back to them but I have like a week to say yes or no take a chance when it's been two weeks two weeks have you even started practicing yet no because I just got the call oh my gosh that sounds so spontaneous I think you have to but look if I haven't like sun life before Sophie you've performed everywhere in the world but I haven't Sun live before you sing good so go do it man okay you jump off buildings you go crazy this is easy I think you'd be awesome you know it's a chance just do it so I should do it but I should say yes 100 110 I believe in you you can do it I still wasn't sure about myself so I went to my brother what what's up hey and he has a band and does live shows all the time so I knew if I asked him he wouldn't give me a fake answer and he would tell me the truth to my face so you're gonna sing no while it's here I haven't said yes you should do it yeah but yeah just say yes I haven't sung in front of anyone and then I'm supposed to sing in front of like a big audience we're gonna have to at some point like back when you did America's Got Talent imagine if you said no to that okay but do you think I'm ready for it because like I also don't want to go we can get you ready at this point I felt like I could do it I could give it my best shot and conquer the sphere to make it official I emailed VidCon with confirmation so Zach I made it official whoa VidCon congrats I already sent off the email so I'm singing officially but um I have a question to ask you guys what I kind of need a band to do it with will you guys be the band it's in two weeks so two weeks you're telling us now so you would have to tell me like today because we need to practice like ASAP yeah sure yeah yeah yeah one yeah let's do it we'll play VidCon okay okay I was stressing if you guys weren't gonna say yes [Music] [Music] [Music] it's the day before the performance literally nothing should go wrong good morning guys I get a sore throat oh that is not good yeah my voice doesn't feel like it's doing that good but it's also in the morning I just woke up so I hope I feel better and I in a coughing because that is really bad I felt right before the this moment and on top of it we are having technical issues with our equipment so everything was stressing me out monitors that is honestly part of me was really like oh no why did I say yes to this the first time I'm gonna sing and I might embarrass myself in front of thousands of people everyone doesn't know I have a sore throat everyone doesn't know there's technical issues they're just taking performance all my confidence had left it was the day of the live show so I went to VidCon I had a whole panel I had to speak on then from there rehearsal so um rehearsal didn't go great it sounds like super compressed and it's feeding back immediately we're saying my in-ears kept going in and out which means I can't hear myself my ears were gone it's so hard to hit a note if you literally can't hear yourself obviously I was pretty stressed out and they said they were gonna fix it for the show but I didn't get to rehearse again I really started to feel the gravity of what's going on right now I had a sore throat and was a little bit sick there was technical things with the mic that was going wrong I didn't get to rehearse with the fixed version of everything I'm not gonna lie I was really regretting this decision Sophie how are you feeling not gonna lie I did have a little bit of a mental breakdown earlier I don't know if Slater was filming I saw a camera yeah I saw a camera in my face and I couldn't build honestly if I sound terrible I sound terrible did the meditation help uh the meditation kind of stressed me out maybe there's some things that you need to deal with internally no it's just the fact and there's no turning let's let's okay right [Music] what are you guys doing tonight uh this is my first time singing live and uh [Applause] everybody [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] things [Music] foreign [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] thank you foreign [Applause] so it's been a week since the show and guess what I'm not dead that didn't kill me I feel great about that did a lot of things go wrong during the show yes did me and my brother's mics get switched yes was I not able to hear myself through my earpieces at all and literally be singing blindly yes but you know what it wasn't that bad and I felt pretty good about it especially for my first time ever singing in front of people this really made me excited for the future because I really loved performing and hopefully I can start performing and singing live a little bit more I learned how to truly face a fear not some YouTube video of me jumping out of an airplane or throwing knives with my feet none of that I faced a true fear and I learned how to trust the people around me who love me I'm really glad I got to share this experience with all of you guys and I love you guys
