how's it going so today well I guess over a period of time here we been getting some rather not the greatest fuel mileage in my truck we might do I got some oversized tires witcher 33 a big significant difference here but the stock size I'm averaging between town and highway I'm getting about 19 litres per 100 people's out to be in at 11.9 miles to a gallon so try to burden a lot of you kind of play a tune like walking walk so I did my sparkplugs a little while back haven't done throttle body cleaning or changed my air filter in a little while so right now we're jumping on the highway I just set the cruise to 110 kilometers I would say 65 miles an hour so we got a base speed we're gonna do this right of highway from the exit back there go down here there's a driver circle we can go around back up the highway to the same bags do that and a base value of my leaders per 100 miles a gallon go change out my air filter painting the throttle body and clean the mass airflow sensor they'll also do idle realer everything is recalibrated and ready to go what that is done same stretch of highway the same stretch highway back the same way as we're doing right now it was a sign back there that just said bring speed to 60 kilometers now so it's over 40 mile-an-hour tap the brake rate at the side we're slowing down to 60 we're gonna try and keep this st. in the hole loop around here what we're doing and see what we come up with for overall total all right so we did our little road test here we got onto the highway we went down a few kilometers went around this traffic circle and come back up the other highway and I was expecting to need a little bit of higher higher leaders per 100 but we set her set to cruise at 1:10 slowed down in the sixties own 160 sped up when the 110 zone came back and anyways long story short we were getting 14 liters per 100 kilometers that's an average kilometer kilometer rating for the mileage that we drove no we're gonna go in and do the relearn and all that stuff clean the throttle body and stuff and we'll show you how to do that and we'll do the same test drive again and see what happens now before all this was happening between city and highway I was averaging 19 litres per 100 now that's pretty heard on fuel not being overly aggressive or anything like that on my truck now you know the thing just changed to 15 liters per 100 because I sat here for 40 seconds or something but a minute or whatever and it changed to 15 instead of 14 so it's probably closer to fourteen point nine litres per 100 or something around there so let's say an average of 15 liters per 100 on this test drive we're going to check my air filled engine air filter see how dirty that is headed out there the other day give it a knock off pretty dirty but we're gonna check it there see how much extra stuff comes out of it there this time and I'll show you what came out of it to begin with alright first things first we're gonna take the air filter box this one here has either flat head or an 8 mil for this right here we're just gonna take this clamp off I'm gonna go too hard with it we're just gonna disconnect their hose do this so that's free down under here get a black piece sorry a red tap you can slide it out and then you can actually push on the tab after and this will slide off so right here you pull this tab down then you can push on this and it releases the tab inside and then you can slide a dog that's this connector you got three clips down under here and on so we're just gonna take this put it over on the bench you get out of our way so this is the air filter here as you can see on this one this one here starting to wave a bit that tells meaning that is starting to clog up once it starts the wave doesn't look overly dirty so this is what came out of the filter they're just today that's the filter itself it's not too too bad we'll give you a closer up here you see how it's starting a wave form here starting to get a bit of waving that's an indication that your filters getting clogged up and the filters like shifting so the air can go through it but I'll show you what came out of it there the other day I saved the dirt so what's in this is what came out of it so that's what came out of my air filter there the other day it's not horrible horrible I mean there's I'm assuming there's some mud truck guys out there that had all kinds of dirt in their filters and everything else or somebody that hasn't changed it in years and years and years but that's what was in there to begin with another hose down here we're gonna take this intake tube braid off now I don't break anything you might need a small pair of pliers or something for this you can't your hand is not strong enough if you're going to give this a twist kind of like that so moves you can stretch that pushed it off it'll slide off so you can take that one off then down here see this great tab doors might be blue might be red depending on the year anyways if you push in on it so it kind of slides back and forth a little bit underneath if you push the tab I don't know if you guys can see that there but it slides up and away from the actual colleague then you can pull it off try not to break this to the king kid or anything so we're just going to get it off and set it to the side it goes over here to where valve covers so it's a crankcase ventilation back to your intake and we're going to take off the other piece get that up out of the way now down for your throttle body I suppose before we start going and disconnecting all this will disconnect our batteries I always want to disconnect your negative first a new pod now sometimes this this one here doesn't want to stay away so what we're gonna do take a little piece of foam we're going to put it doesn't touch the battery terminal now we want to reset their our computer in the truck so we can do an idle relearn on it so while we're cleaning the intake we're gonna we're gonna take a little jumper wire I got alligator clips on this one we're going to attach it to the positive then we're going to go over to the negative table after you after everything is disconnected you hook a little jumper wire to the positive over to the negative cable that there's gonna drain your battery it's gonna kill the computer in it does it normally take too long but just make sure the positive and the negative are not hooked up when you do this make sure everything is disconnected before you go any hope you're a little jumpy a lot but I could just sit there I don't that everything is disconnected down under here there's a little red tab again yeah slide that out I'm gonna use a pic slide it down a bit and down in on it push your tab and get it up come up for you sometimes them are a little hard to come off you just got to work with it and wiggle it back and forth lightly so you don't break that the clip break completely off so we got four bolts hold on the throttle body there a 10 mil alright then here throw it while you just popped off and on now on this one here you can see some carbon buildup on the backside of this you might want to take your bolt zone set them in a safe place where you're not gonna lose them as I just lost one definitely don't want one of them falling down into the intake on the bench so with this here this will open up and close and if I can see in here I don't know if you guys can I'm trying to get you angled right oh right there you see that see that line right along here that's carbon buildup where the plate lands so right where that plate is there's carbon buildup right behind it try and get you that angle again there you go right there so we're gonna go and clean all that up and now we got a couple different things here we got we got some seafoam top engine cleaner we got throttle body cleaner and then we also got the Mopar combustion chamber conditioner I've used all three they all work pretty good I like this Mopar come combustion chamber cleaner find it does the job fairly quick seafoam works good too this year I don't got much left of it but it's that works alright as well alright so I'm gonna use some of this Mopar and a combustion chamber cleaner air conditioner you got an old toothbrush here that are using the shop you for this application I'm just gonna go ahead and spray some of this on here take my toothbrush in sum this conditioner here works pretty good she was up having fairly quick as you can see no open up hold it with your hand you don't want to do this in the vehicle because it's electronically controlled and this is a this motors like a stepper motor and it's a gear reduction and it can pinch your finger if not take it off pretty good so you want to make sure all powers disconnected from this all right so after you get everything cleaned up you want to clean everything out as much as you can take a clean rag or fairly clean rag that doesn't have a bunch of dirt on it this one here just had a little bit of grease just horrible bad idea is you want it nice and clean if you feel like that you need to do it a second time go ahead and do it a second time you feel that there's some carbon buildup still relatively clean is good that's a lot better than what it was there's some dirt and stuff around here might take the wire wheel and just kind of clean that up just so when I know it goes back together it's gonna seal nice and good you don't want to gouge it you just want to clean the dirt dog mm-hmm so she's nice and clean there now a little bit of residue left over but nothing crazy so we're gonna go clean this up right here just around here there and the other two safety goggles [Music] all right so there's a little bit of carbon buildup around here not a whole lot but we're gonna take some of that might take some sea foam and spray it in there but we're gonna clean up just make sure there's no dirt on this seal where the intake throttle body goes and we're gonna put everything all back together so we're gonna go ahead and wipe that down we're gonna take a little bit of sea foam and just kind of spray it in in the round here a little bit just kind of loosen things up some not gonna take a whole lot just a little bit we're gonna take our brush we're just gonna kind of clean things up a little bit here this where we can see the fins off now once we go and get the idle relearn and everything done we can go and do if we want we can do seafoam spray through the intake to try and clean out the intake and to clean off the top of the cylinder is a little bit if we want that'll be in another video so if you guys haven't already hit that like button hit that subscribe button a little bail button there to stay notified of all my future videos on that little seal that's down here on this I like to go and put like a slight skimmer lube on it nothing too much so anyways I got some white lithium grease I'm just gonna put a light skin lube plate skim of it so just a little bit on my finger and I'm just gonna kind of go around that seal just a little bit you don't need a whole lot I like to just kind of move it up a little bit that way and everything goes back together it moved a little so it doesn't seal doesn't dry out you can use break break glue or whatever if you want just a little tiny skim you don't want to get it down in your intake you just kind of want to rub it around the seal itself you don't technically have to do it but I like to to just make sure it's that rubber seals conditioned a little bit before I put everything all back together now Ronal body is all nice and clean make sure it goes back on the same way you took it off so our bottom our clip was down here on the bottom left hand side I'm looking at it or passenger side which would be the right we're gonna start our first bolt here now I'm just gonna spin these in I'm not gonna tighten them up just gonna get them in close there and then we're gonna come back with the rat and we're gonna snuggle up now the proper way you doing this who is you'd want to torque it but what we're gonna do is I'm just gonna I'm gonna feel it out don't need a whole lot of torque on these so you don't want to hold your ratchet way up here you just wanna get it so it's tight that was going too crazy on it there are only little 10 millivolts it's probably about 9 foot pounds of torque or something I didn't look it up I just come on to guesstimate in here there so that's back together going a little take her wire that we took off and whoop that back up slide that all the way in until it clicks or Lacs goes over and then push the red dad back in we're gonna change out the air filter put in a new air filter we got a big expensive filter but pretty similar to the Fram tears own we're going to shove that into her air box there now oh and as you can see on here right now all these fins are nice and straight that's how you want it once it starts wave forming you're getting a restriction and your filter we're going to set that in there I'm gonna put our intake tube back on wanna have a quick peek inside make sure she's not real dirty or Nothing ones all right slide this back on we're gonna hook up our tubes here clip clicks slide this one all the way back on then we're gonna go and put our filter cover back on well before we do that let's clean your mass airflow so we're gonna take this over maybe do this over the bench so you don't lose these little tiny screws I'm just going to do it here for demonstration and be careful okay so on this one here most of the time you can't put them in upside down cuz they only go in one way but remember the way you take you know like tabs on the bottom here what we want to cleaning is this little guy in here sorry we have some mass airflow cleaner we're just gonna spray that on and then give her a little shake and let her dry so we get the mass airflow cleaner we're just gonna spray it all down but technically you want to get into this little port here a bit there and you want it to set it to the side and let it dry give her a couple shakes have a look at it if you got a bunch of a bunch of stuff on this little wire here with the diode in it you definitely want to clean it or replace it alright so we're going to take our mass airflow and put it back in this back in here make sure we put a box top of the air box back on first flip it into place all three tabs then we'll line up our two intake tube put that back on mass airflow put it back on slide the little red piece in underneath we're gonna go ahead and take our clamps out you definitely want to check to make sure your intake tube didn't roll over when you're putting it on and that everything is completely put on so bring it hand underneath double-check it plan these don't have to be overly tight so they don't come on so if you guys been with me for this long so far makes any if you haven't already hit that like button hit subscribe and make sure you hit that little Bell button there to stay notified of all my future videos now let's get to this idle relearn a note for test drive to see if our fuel economy got any better we're going to hook our battery back up so we're going to disconnect our jumper cables so anytime anytime you have a dead battery change the battery battery is disconnected you're doing repair or anything you should be doing this relearn no this relearning is going to reprogram the sweet on your throttle body but you're also going to want to take it for a test drive and learn relearn the chef points so if it's been disconnected for a little while you want to do this otherwise you could have rough idle you could have chef points might be stiff or rough for whatever not working right and that's where you might might be come back and be like what did you do to my drop it's not running quite just right so you always want to do this after you do some repairs your disconnect the battery or swap out the batteries so we're gonna put our positive battery terminal back on we disconnected our jumper wire here that's on there snug should be good going nowhere put a negative on there that's nice and snug remove all tools from engine bay and your jumper wire so you're gonna want to let this you don't wanna make sure all your lights everything's shut off you want to prove oh you're ending clusters so we're gonna go do that now and then we're in a state truck and we're gonna let it run for fifteen to twenty minutes fifteen to twenty-five minutes roughly after everything's nice and warm we're gonna go for attach drive wheel in shift points okay so we got everything we're gonna shut everything off make sure our lights are off we're gonna let everything prove out here we proved out here the throttle body moving I'll let it do its little thing there for a second now we're gonna start to truck [Music] all right so we've been idling for about 20 minutes here 2025 minutes and now we're gonna go and turn on our headlights and then just give it a couple seconds then we're gonna turn on our blower motor and stuff here just thinking it was gonna change the idle a little bit but it didn't end up doing that so there we go starting to change a couple things here so it's learning give that a second and we're gonna gloat on our test drive now you don't want to drive this too aggressively or not aggressive enough just kind of everyday driving not with so much a heavy foot but just casual driving and we're gonna we're gonna try and go through all the gears to learn all the shift points so we're gonna find find a road where we can like you know come to a stop and then gradually leave from there and it's gonna go chef one chef to chef three all the way up to six and then it's going to come back down and then like kind of come back to a stop a couple times we're gonna do that four or five times do about a half-hour run you don't technically have to do a half-hour run 20 minutes 15 20 minutes should do and then you should be able to give it back to the customer after that and then within the next couple days after that heat cycles it will continue learning and adapt to the customers driving now it's the initial spot where it's gonna be a bit rough like with you that you don't want the customer to experience so we're gonna get out on that test drive and we're gonna do the relearn and yeah you guys haven't already and liked you please subscribe and hit that little Bell button and I'll see you guys all next time and if you're wondering about my fuel economy as previously spoken about I will upload this all right so we run the round to here just check our fuel fuel mileage we're gonna do the same run as what we did earlier we're gonna reset right now so we're at zero we're gonna get on to the highway and we're gonna do 110 down to the traffic circle tap the break in the 60 sine 60 all the speed limit credit % in a second Hey so we did our trip we got back we're at averaging 14 liters per 100 kilometers so we're about a liter better per 100 climbers now let's sit here for about a half a minute or so as last time I started talking to shift it to 15 liters per 100 when I got back so I want to kind of estimate if it's gonna stay at 14 here for a little bit as I'm idling or if it's gonna switch over to 15 here before too long last time I think it would have it shifted into 15 liters per 100 so far and we're still sitting here idling at 14 so I'm thinking we're probably about a liter per 100 kilometers better on on the fuel mileage the throttle body was fairly dirty so in carbon duct so that could play a play in effect we're still at 14 now it hasn't shifted over yet numbers have changed but yeah so far so good it's showing that we're about a liter better per 100 kilometers if not slightly better we're still at 14 we're gonna just kind of time it out here and see if he switches back to 15 last time I got back or whatever I started talking about fuel mileage within about 30 seconds to a minute it already switched a 15 you think this is a minute yet logger it was 20 seconds over yeah so we've been here probably a minute or so if not more sitting here idling and it's still averaging at 14 liters per 100 so I'm assuming it this is more on the lower side of the 14 liters per 100 like the average so for being it just just just switched to 50 okay so yeah fuel mileage seems to be better we are at a colder temperature which should make it harder on fuel we were at about plus one plus two earlier now we're at minus seven so because we're later in the evening and it's colder Europe Canada anyways we're at 15 now it's at here probably about two minutes about two minutes and it just switched over to 15 so I'm assuming the liters per 100 or on the lower side of 14 and had to climb up through the point system to get to the 15 now five okay so that's the throttle body cleaning yeah relearn and yeah see you guys all next time
