Eye of the Storm: Part Two | The Rising Dawn | Life of the Party D&D

hello and welcome back to the rising dawn eye of the storm i'm r your dungeon master for this evening are we ready to go yes please asleep what is this bee's fist slowly crept over to me and now we're doing this let the adventure begin [Music] we catch up with the dawnbringers having just landed on the isle of kassan after heading to sea from the port of watchers respite the dawnbringers found themselves aboard a ship called the reveller with vandal at the helm charged where a course to the furthest southern island in the eastern sea in pursuit of something unknown for cassians friend in miratel vanden intended to chart a course southwest along the coastline of arrakis avoiding the dreaded dagons triangle however after a day aboard the ship it started to become apparent that a huge storm was brewing in the south the reveler was forced to change their course and head east past the dangerous waters of the leviathan archipelago the storm seemingly on their tail the whole time cassian was able to determine the origin of the storm as something unnatural but there was nothing to be done as they were forced to sail through it waves reaching deadly heights and wind picking up into a hurricane lightning striking their sails after eight hours of treacherous sailing the party emerged into the calm waters around the isle of kazan exhausted and battered the ship needed numerous repairs they docked in the port town of puerto archorus and were directed to the luxurious and expensive dragon tree house inn to get some rest the dawnbringers laid down to sleep at last only to find themselves rudely awoken just a few hours later by the sound of a large bell ringing somewhere in town and the distant call of a town crier the ceremony of the slumbering sentinel has begun you hear it now ding ding ding it's fairly distant but it's enough to wake you you awaken in the two bedrooms of your suite on the top floor of dragon tree house astra and cassian in twin beds in one room sariel and vaden in another they're simple but elegant rooms with warm colored walls and tiled floors with local paintings and sculptures decorating the surfaces around you you blink your eyes open wearily and found that you haven't had enough sleep for a full long rest you can have a short rest if you want one please did we hear them shouting like oh the slumber yes i wish i was the slumbering astro rather than the sentinel oh we all still got those points of exhaustion though do you still be having exhaustion you do still carry your points of exhaustion um astral with three calcium with two and seven phantom of one none of that is cleared up but as you find yourselves rousing from your beds you look around you don't really want to move as the beds you're laying on are some of the most comfortable you've slept on anywhere mattresses filled with feather down and light sheets just warm enough to keep off the chill from the cool breeze that moves through the open window shutters you can peer out through them each room has its own beautiful carved wooden balcony looks over this incredible courtyard and the canopy of the forest beyond as the ringing bell comes to a stop you can once again hear running water and birdsong outside and in addition to this the gentle playing of a leah somewhere down in the rear courtyard that carries up through your windows sarah in your room phantom pulled the pillow over his head and he's like no i'm not getting up do we need to not for anything not for any ceremony or any trouble i'm not getting out of bed she does the same thing like pulls the covers up higher i'm guessing stretches and sits up just looks over at astra i'm going to go and have a bath okay i feel like we're not going to get a proper sleep i just want to feel clean and for my bed to not be covered in salt i could get rid of it if you want that's what the cleaners are for don't worry she looks very confused but getting it out of my hair properly would be nice actually stretches and sits up out of bed and it's just okay downstairs oh no i know you can sleep under my hair if you'd like until it makes a scarf around your neck and goes to sleep again and then big huff because it stinks of salt no i'm going to get a bath i said so come on then slowly drag ourselves out into the main room despite saying he's not going to get up vandalized there for about 30 seconds and then he's like best not to waste the day [Music] sorry i would like to waste the day mood okay i'll sleep with that bell ringing anyway ding ding ding ding ding ding shame shape then it comes out of whatever big stretches like all of you look you're reminded as you see each other look kind of ridiculous your windswept hair caked with salt sticking out in strange directions your skin with sort of those like clear like translucent white stains when salt water dries astray is pointedly not looking at any mirrors more reflective so there's quite a lot in this room eyes down eyes down we're going to find the baths yes that is a good idea sarah comes out the bedroom like trying to untangle knots from her hair how how we're going to find the bath okay do you need to help with your hair please i can do that it's a big mess so's asterisks solid differences you can make your way back down to the front desk and speak again to naiara the young girl there who points you in the direction of the paths you head back into the building down through a cool corridor to a set of carved wooden doors out into the rear courtyard in this courtyard is a sprawling deep pool of cold blue water for swimming in the floor is tiled in terracotta and the courtyard is skirted by numerous plants and trees planted into beds of black and volcanic soil probably the likes of which most of us have never seen on this sort of climate but there's cactuses and strange flowering desert plants and then around those scattered like tall palm trees with coconuts and all fruit growing at the top of them i don't know what any of this is so it looks so interesting i think another world hasn't it a few open doorways lead off this courtyard one on the left with a side above it made of sea glass pressed into the plaster that spells out baths at the far end of the courtyard sat on the edge of a fountain that cleverly depicts two elemental spirits twisting around one another is a woman she looks to be human she's wearing a brown skirt slit at the side and a yellow blouse which is very revealing short sort of under her chest and the front very very open there's a soft round beautiful face with long blonde hair it looks a little bit greasy tied up in like a high ponytail you just got a leah sat on her lap and she sings beautifully she's just playing she pays you no attention respectfully looking away yeah respectfully paying her no attention because the state that we're in don't look at us um as you do pass towards the bath she doesn't stop singing but she does look up and sort of follow you with her eyes into the next archway does she look like she works here or is she a guest or like is there any other guests around there's no one else around the courtyard and you haven't seen anyone else in the building yet huh however you head in through the door arch to the bus it's a large room with a huge circular pool in the middle shallow seats like inset into the water around one side of it the other half deep looks deep enough to swim in the walls are painted in a warm beige decorated with simple murals of plants a staircase leads up to a mezzanine level at the top at the back of the room there is a nook and the entrance to this is decorated with ionic columns inside a separate freestanding bath steaming the main bath looks like it must be cooler water sat in the shallow part of the main bath is a large and heavy set dragonborn with a big smile on his face it's very jolly looking and he's sort of sat back there you can see a towel like off to one side sat with arms spread out around the back of the bath and coming down from the top mezzanine level also in a towel wrapped around his waist is you think he must be a full orc dang um yeah an orcish man dark gray brown skin and two very large tusks a neat sort of quaff of hair swapped to one side um he has a large scar on his left shoulder and it sort of spreads on his left shoulder all the way across his chest and it looks like it might have been from something explosive he plays you don't mind as he makes his way down from the mezzanine you see him sort of node to the dragonborn not like the familiarity of friendship but perhaps guests here who've seen each other more than once and then nodded to you the same way and passes out into the corridor it sort of gives you a way back looks looks happy to have been greeted properly he was about six foot six in christ kick big the dragon ball stretches back and it's like have you just arrived oh yes what's game fits away oh i'm just wondering there haven't been um many guests at the dragon tree this is damn weather we came last night the weather didn't really mean to come here well welcome to kazan thank you thank you we just need to get cleaned up um you don't mind sits and relaxes back into the bath again big smile on his jolly face eyes closed is it a smile or is he just dragon face like no it's a smile okay he's got he's got copper scales and a sort of big dumb smile oh stretches all the way back he looks genuinely just like you know when you look at someone you just get an aura of nicety oh like a golden retriever yeah like a golden retriever but a lizard all right let's find ourselves some towels and go deal with this yeah yes so i was looking a bit wary at the idea that there's other people around um i might come back later it's [Music] let's find some talent sarah i was going to take like reach out for your hand and sort of gesture you towards the other end of the room yeah she'll follow him please you'll get changed yes um asteroids guessing we'll find the changing room yeah as there's sort of an archway on the other side of the room just leads around a small corridor to like a simple wooden bench and some lockers [Music] cause these two was dripping off and it's like you can wear the ring if you want to do you want to wear it i might if i just keep my back turned you sure yes absolutely so i was for sure just take it i can walk behind you if it helps i don't know sure we'll give you the ring again thank you i don't know whether we can see about getting something else like that enchanted somewhere at some point i don't like continually borrowing it from you it's it's i don't mind you borrowing it i'm just gonna um his eyes sort of find the dragonborn and he kind of moves around the outskirts of the room towards the changing room and comes in where you guys are like in various states of undress just like hello hello everything all right fine absolutely fine excuse me go down the far end of the changing room and start taking his life okay a respectful peek let's just tell just come up and have you in the face like we did [Music] i always just ask him bramble if he wants to join us right if that's changing [Music] let's go to the bathroom people just walking out like no towels or anything tell wrong ways okay okay as you come towards the changing rooms ariel you see these two arm and arm not necessarily happy with each other looking at the changes in them in towels look out and like strip off as well like towel like firmly around herself i'm enjoying this weird casing [Music] it's because after kept bullying him when phantoms change he comes out and very very subtly sort of tries not to make a show of not turning his back to the dragonborn as he comes and slides into the deep end of the bath like this is fine this is where i wanted to bath i want to bathe in the deep where my water trauma can get me oh my god just having the best time trying to wash everything off oh god wash away the sins yeah wash away your salt yeah really really getting in every nook and cranny washing your hair oh god there's oils and different creams and things you can bathe with and you can really scrub down and you find yourselves feeling significantly more awake after a cold bath it's not so cold that it's unpleasant but it's it's cold enough that you step out of it feeling woken up and ready to get through the last hours of the day jazz ashley would have been asking like what's this oil which one's the best for hair what's this what's that i have no idea what any of this is on this one this one this one you can get a relative education on the best way to do your hair with bath oils and salts and stuff and when you're done bathing it's a fairly relaxing experience i imagine not much conversation but how tired everyone is but you get out and you get dressed again and you can head back out to the pool if you want to yes please just give the dragonborn a little wave let us believe like bye nice to meet you me too you head on out as you do you notice a significant difference from when you were in our chorus earlier perhaps there were signs of this earlier but you weren't particularly paying attention considering how tired and warned out you were but the town of our chorus is alive with excitement and some people are dressed in eccentric and colorful costumes dancing through the streets before long you find yourselves back in the market square with its neatly cultivated central garden and the brightly coloured temple to moradin around the square now you notice hidden behind plenty of cream awnings and market stools overflowing with colorful goods and fresh produce several blacksmiths and forges somewhat swamped by the people now in the market square it's busy and people seem to be putting up decorations on the shop fronts and in the trees you can still see if you look out towards the ocean the storm going in the distance [Music] however the crowds start to pot as you see moving through a queue of young girls under 10 all waving and smiling at the crowds and the crowds like waving and smiling back at them they make their way over to stand outside the temple of moradin cassian just perplexed like how is it that we always manage to arrive in places when the locals are up to something i'd probably say it's because they're probably usually up to something people are always up to something there's always some sort of festival when we get who makes it more interesting i suppose what was it slumbering sentinel yes no i don't know what that means i suppose you can ask [Music] as you sort of try and make sense of what you're seeing the crowds start to properly part and make a wide pathway through the middle of the market square you see four strong shouldered men carrying a pelican with a single seat on top of it they carry it sort of on big sticks of bamboo on their shoulders and in the seat you see a young girl although she's older than the others coming outside the temple she has dark skin with a slight red tinge to it um bright red hair like a huge nest of tight wild curls fiery red and gold at the tips you get the impression she's probably something elemental or jealousy of some kind as her palakkim passes people in the streets they reach out for her and up for her she touches some of their outstretched hands seeming to make them cheer and groom with excitement when she does so she's carried through the market square this way not making eye contact with anyone and at the end of the passage of people there's a nondescript but large house where a white cloth is laid down on the dirt and she is lowered and dismounts onto it walking inside [Music] what's that about is that a usual thing i have no idea is she royalty or something maybe like a print sort of [Music] look over to a local um sorry we're not from around here who who was that you see this sort of see elf woman turn around and say well that's the idol the idol the idol of kassan is is that like a royalty term or is she a prince um no no uh i suppose you've arrived at a most exciting time uh the historian idol is a a girl who embodies the soul of the titan of the slumbering sentinel oh the volcano right right and the thing i've sort of gestures towards inland and you can just see from this angle like the very top of the mountain in the center of the island give a very quizzical look to like the group with me just like hmm shrugs was she chosen for that she was but today will be her last day why well she's turned of age now and the title must pass on to a younger girl okay so the seal points over to the temple all of those girls are hopeful they're hoping that the titan will choose them and the soul of the titan will pass on into them what about the current girl well she will return to her life must be strange to go back to normal life after being a vessel of a volcano you see all those people who are reaching out for her it's considered good luck if she touches you okay she's a child well she's the embodiment of a titan right how do they choose the idol typically it takes a day or so it's carried out in the temple by five of the priests and priestesses and uh they're examined to make sure they're suitable candidates not unwell strong enough to carry the soul of a titan observe for signs of serenity and fear and then the candidates who they select go with the priests and the priestesses further inland to one of the geothermal pools where a ritual is held in private to determine which of the girls becomes the idol and when smoke rises from the volcano that's how they know the volcano is satisfied let's see karma looks kind of interested in all this it's been our tradition for as long as anyone in kasang can remember wow it's a lot of responsibility for someone so young the story goes that the titan was put to sleep by moradin himself and our ritual keeps the titan at peace allows it to walk among us and avoid their options i suppose and we haven't had an eruption on the sun in hundreds of years that's very interesting i'm glad that you've arrived at this time it's our most precious ceremony and there'll be festivities tonight we look forward to seeing them enjoy your days thank you very much you too there are mountains smokes that's what a volcano is okay [Music] interesting i've heard a little bit about it but because it's not exactly one of the pivotal political places i haven't spent any time here before does it fall under your jurisdiction it does so iraq is starstone kusan it's all it's all eastern shore but i've i mean look at this both and don't exactly look like they're keeping their defenses up for attack do they don't sniff it to potential allies oh no not at all just it looks like a safe and a relatively nice place well i suppose everyone's in good spirits around here so we should have a good experience wandering around the place it's quite contagious isn't it yes i guess let's just take a look around the market and sure why not kill some hours we're going to be here for a few days right so sure maybe we can go check out that mom's volcano at some point be interesting to see [Music] maybe dangerous okay all around you you see these market stores now you see on the stores fruits fresh cups of meat lots of seafood you see oranges you see people serving up cactus fried and crazy bright pink fruits with spines on the outside you see people making medicinal ointments in like small stone bowls mixed out of plants jewelry which seems to be made of this like beautiful green gem and pieces of the volcanic rock lots of local bright colorful clothing and like soft white fabrics big sun hats um lots and lots of beautiful and delicate handcrafted lace artisan pottery lots of raw tyrone crafts glass blowing and a stall that sells wines with a big banner at the top that says wild magic winery nice as you walk through you do also see a woman with a donkey and a cart she's small very old like bent over stooped and ancient looking and you can't quite determine her race her hair is mossy brown nearly green and her clothing is old and poor quality very dirty and unkempt she leads her overloaded wagon with a cantankerous donkey pulling it along the road to sort of the corner of the square where it's clearly not going to have a market stool set up and you see her sort of look up through her mossy hair and beckon you okay oh go to the strange old like yes beckoned i suppose we are compelled hello hello dears you're not local around here no no i think i have exactly what you need you do she lifts the fabric on the cart and reaches into it you see the donkey just like sort of step one of its hooves and she pulls out of the cart like some black fabric and she starts to open it inside you see a quill made of a glowing orange feather can i interest you it's very pretty what is it it's a phoenix feather oh and how did you acquire this close it up again i have my ways what makes you think that we would need it i can tell i can read you as people right i'm gonna read her is this world just like crazy disappointing i would also like to make one okay i'm is this woman um oh it doesn't work yeah this is one there's only an eight oh beans that's a six so even rolling that low you don't there's a look in her eye that looks a bit crazed but not like with insanity just maybe with some sort of otherworldly knowledge to the impression you get and she's like how much is it 300 gold and then she puts it back into the cart and rummages around again and pulls out a larger black bundle this time in a box like unwraps the cloth and opens a huge black box inside you see an hourglass in which the sand is black and floats upwards slowly from the bottom to the top that's pretty it is and what is it it's an hour class she doesn't say it but you get the impression that the end of that sentence should have been full yes but why is it like that why are you like how you are [Music] what does it do i will not explain it to you i just know that it will be of use to you okay how much is it 480 even gold it puts the box limped back on it sets it to the side music sort of standing back from this like uncomfortable yeah we're going to take a step back as well i i don't like these vibes she reaches into the cart one more time oh my god a long wooden case small maybe a foot long and opens it up and inside is a luminous pink and pearl horn of some unknown creature is it like a unicorn it doesn't look like a unicorn okay [Music] she holds it forwards it's beautiful big eyes slightly twisted and curved but not in the not in the swirl of a unicorn what is it it's a horn oh my god what what's it for what's it do you will have to determine that yourself but you've made it what will we need it for you'll know when the time comes i hate this how much is that one five thousand gold okay well we don't have that kind of money so we could make a deal [Music] when you say deal you're talking about a discount deal or something more nefarious no discounts she puts it back in the card oh my god the vibes are random but cereal's into it kind of respects ariel she was into the old maggie stick man like you will not regret it okay can we have some time to think about it yes okay and you'll a receipt but i bought it from you product was faulty oh my god absolutely rant um again this is gonna be useless because of our disadvantage on all checks um would sarah know of anything that a phoenix feather can be used for um make me a disadvantaged nature check oh no uh 12 no okay you probably have the the semblance of those would definitely have some sort of strong magical quality yeah but that's the only thing you you can possibly conjure up tight in your tired mind you're just like what what can i have a real hard to think about any stories my mum would have told me about fantastical creatures for that horn uh you can also make a disadvantage nature check have a real hard thing castra astrodupe having the good nature okay um 13 not a clue nothing like anything your it a pat and start moving it further around the square we leave immediately that was uncomfortable what was that about i don't know okay do i trust hassan believes that uh make an insight check on cassian i would say don't make a deception check because he wasn't that i just look at you right i hate having everything at disadvantage cassian you feel the faint sort of ache on your arm like someone had been squeezing hard for a long time left a bruise even though she was only holding your arm lightly for maybe 20 seconds did it feel like a hand hand yes okay it just felt like a hand yeah it wasn't like the weak it wasn't my old maggie sort of the weird disconnect yeah okay cool tight grip for an old crown i hated that let's go they're doing free samples over at the wine store that sounds a bit more yeah let's do that [Music] sort of ramble over to the wild magic winery store it's got this nice sort of cloth banner with like tassels hanging down the sides either side of the stool um all the wine bottles have a label with two intertwined swirls that reminds you of the elemental fountain at the dragon tree inn and some of the bottles are made of clear glass containing what looks like liquid gold the cellar behind the stool human with a few halfling features it's like nice to meet you having a good day having a day tired but we're enjoying this festival you're doing it's it's gonna be very very exciting tonight this is just the beginning tonight well the festivities you see we always celebrate the end of the the idols reign so everybody's gonna be out having a good time we should probably try and have a laugh before that can i offer you a free taster of the endless smiles wine and their smiles guaranteed to put you in a good mood is that is that the gold stuff or is that yes the gold stuff in a little shot glass basically cassian will have one i don't drink estra oh no do you have anything non-alcoholic not here but we do at the winery it's just just outside the town oh we've got a shop okay it looks tasty though please go ahead it's free thank you so much she tells you that their their vineyard specializes in magical wines they do have non-magical wines but each of their other wines has sort of a mundane or pleasant effect sort of the more the stronger the effects the more pricey the wine but they have some mundane ones that are just pleasantries basically like this one endless smiles which as you take the shots she explains that upon consumption you'll only feel happy emotions for a few hours if you're drinking it wrong it's six four six then i got six as well that's how many hours you will feel only happy emotions oh and it's not in a like forced happiness way it's just like nothing feels quite as bad in that time the glass half full glass yeah yeah essentially yeah the option is juice what does it taste like it tastes like honey and milk i love milk and honey yeah and sort of sour oh this is so tasty that was really nice wasn't it i feel better i was feeling kind of grim but actually no that feels really nice fabulous the vineyard and the seller at the store explains where it is so there's just outside the town they give free tours if anyone's interested and they have a little bar there where they sell all these different magical wines and she's like we get plenty of people just dropping in to take a look you're more than welcome to we won't hold it against you you don't buy anything okay well why not while we're here i mean we're just here to have a nice time so and we'll see what the area has to offer exactly i've never seen a vin vineyard where they grow grapes for one right okay thank you i'm sure we'll stop by thank you so much thank you have a good day you too you too i don't think we cannot now it does feel like a good day it does it's certainly a day that we are having as you walk through the square you see more of these stools open you see a stool with an old dragonborn with glasses and a beard sort of got a big table out and like an awning for shelter but it's not really a proper market stool on the table he's just got dozens and dozens of old books sort of laid out on the table next to him is an elven portrait painter with all these big canvases up and they're like caricatures all over and they're not caricatures they're sort of you know when you see those those painters in the streets who can like do your whole picture in like 15 minutes it seems to be the pitch that he's selling himself with and he says it's a he's calling out into the streets the like your likeness portrait shop and he sees the four of you walking over and it's like come on over here come on get your portraits done adventurers you look like adventurers kind of i'll do a special 20 gold for a portrait of your whole adventuring party okay yeah i've never done one of these before no neither but i don't have any i'd like to have a portrait of the four of us this will be a lot less time than the family portraits yes i'm sat for some lengthy hours i think the longest i did was three days on and off three days oh we've never had that one that long but mother likes a portrait it's just alien concept completely like algebra like titling over here i suppose but we should pose oh what do you do well tell you go in the front because you're smaller the the portrait painters it's okay i'll position you okay okay puts astrid to the side inside you have incredible hair thank you absolutely beautiful thank you your jawbone wow and positioned you after the other side goes through the party like pointing out things that he finds beautiful about you as he positions you it's like right sets up his easel with the canvas and sticks his head out fantastic and gets out his paint brush and all these little pots of paint let's find out how good it is oh no no advantage okay it's a good likeness oh yeah takes about 20 minutes okay but he sits there very very quickly like almost as if he's hasted moving the brush across the across the painting and it's not dry by the time he tops it but 20 minutes later he spins it round and there is this full portrait of the four of you the positions you're standing in where he's captured all the features he was pointing out as absolutely beautiful in sort of shining recognition [Music] that's beautiful i wish the paint is back home without quit we've got to have some bunch aren't we we look good together thank you thank you very much get some money out i'll give him 30 gold oh thank you that's very kind of you no thank you it'll be dry probably by this evening if you want to pick it up perfect thank you so much later you see the old dragon ball and that's all over just like i am peering over at the books come come on over please take a look they're all secondhand books should be read not lie in dusty old libraries so i'm selling them on what kind of books are there if we browse the collection you see one called baldrick's fantastic adventure a dwarven choose your own adventure book what a strange and unique concept kind of into it though you find one as your sort of the four of your browsing through the table called wish it want it screw it detail accounts of the time the wish spell backfired oh no oh no being familiar with your familiar a book for casters who wish to bond with their animal companions a field guide to all common and uncommon familiars seen by the author do you think we need this bramble no i don't think a book just called how to spot a mimic useful interesting tips on how to do things such as listening for breathing seeing responds to being touched by throwing small pebbles i lit my life throwing pebbles or anything could be a mimic you don't know your mother no it could be a mimic could be a mimic your house could be a mimic a herbalism book called i can't believe it's not harmless [Music] guide clubs mushrooms and berries that surround the city where the book was written it contains accurate annotations of ailments due to consumption or touch with poisonous plants this looks interesting um with very descriptive drawings of people having diarrhea or throwing up great i think probably could have done without those symbols then you come across a book with a red leather cover with an intricate bearded face embossed into it it has no title but it appears to have some latent magical quality that is not currently active the pages contain what seems to be intuition and insight exercises it doesn't seem to have like an author written in it or a book title at all do you know what this is oh that's an odd one it's definitely a magical tone but i get the feeling it's not quite done with its magic yet perhaps it needs more time like it's charging up or that's right okay is there any way to like kind of flicking through you determine what it might do if it was charged uh make an arcana check this can i help him and make it straight town it's not far it's sort of just three or four streets over to the edge of a horus and you find yourself north of the township itself as you approach you're heading uphill and the landscape gets more arid less trees around and more wide sprawling spaces filled with black sand and red rocks up here on the higher elevation towards the center of the island the wind is a lot stronger picking up swirls of dust everywhere you go and carrying them delicately through the air and at this point you can see the slumbering sentinel probably in the middle of this island of the island this huge stone mountain sort of looking like it's leaning over slightly to one side almost like someone has sat down on their haunches relatable you see a distillery and a large sort of another one of these like igneous rock buildings sat by the side of the road and beyond it sprawling vineyards from which the company's area famous drinks are derived it's a peculiar panorama for those who have seen other vineyards a vast stretch of black stony land punctuated by ropondro of neat conical divots dug into the ground each with a throwing grapevine growing from it sort of dug down with this small lava stone wall around it to keep the wind from tearing the vines out of the ground each ditch is bordered by these low piles of small stones in the shape of a crescent moon from the vines all manner of grapes sprout huge purple grapes almost as large as a fist cornucopia clusters of tiny golden grapes green ones black ones that seem to be constantly dripping with juice even soft smoky gray grapes that look as though a simple gust of wind could blow them away oops the grapes the heavy wooden door into the front of the sort of winery building is open and you can see a golden-haired elf tall slender wearing a flowing white dress and an apron sort of teetering around behind the bar and it's just like shelves upon shelves of glistening wine bottles filled with different colors this place is incredibly impressive never seen anything like this before it's really pretty yeah it's pretty i'll give them that do all vineyards look like this not really this is normally it's like long rows of grapevines and trellises seems more like they've made this around the earth here i can't imagine it's easy to grow stuff in this sort of soil we're in this wind [Music] well they've managed it quite well i suppose the volcanic soil must have interesting properties as well probably gives it a unique spin i like it as you sort of poke your head in through the door the golden head elf turns and it's like hi hello i'm bianca i'm the master vintner [Music] said a wine wine maker one maker nice to meet you cassian come on in come on in thank you i've never seen a vineyard before no am i you must be new to the island then well we make all the wines that wild magic wines right here in the distillery which is the next building over i can tell you a little bella if you like and you can try some of the wines if you want to that's nice we tried one of the smiles wine that one's wonderful do you have anything non-alcoholic oh yeah of course can we have a try of some of those as well absolutely come on let me let me show you around he's just looking at me she sort of leads you around just out to like the back terrace of this winery building and points out things as she describes the landscape she tells you that years of eruptions from the sleep the slumbering sentinel during the age of war had destroyed the surrounding terrain and she explained what an eruption is or just use the word eruption she just uses the word eruption okay oh um yeah and basically it covered the whole area in ash and local farmers dug into the ash in such of usable soil forming these conical ditches in the process and to their delight they discovered that the volcanic earth was fertile and excellent at retaining humidity making it perfect for growing grapes estonia planting vines along the conical ditches built these semicircular walls to protect it from the wind and discovered that they could use sort of the elemental magic of the island considering cassandra is like heavy with elemental magic to grow these distinct and beautiful wines like grapes that they turn into these incredible magic wines that's so clever i think it's rather wonderful it is i can't wait to try some shall we please she leads you back inside and tells you [Music] oh astrid you need to ask a question he's trying to context clue his way through life she leads you back inside and gets you like a nice table there's breeze blowing in through the window she's like i'll bring you over a menu and you can see what you might want to try thank you when she does she brings over this menu first page is just regular wines but then they have these two pages of magical wines says at the top none of these ones give hangovers sick which is their primary magical function oh my god some of them are marked as non-alcoholic but most of them have an additional effect there's liquid gold a wine that puts the drinker under the effect of the blessed spell for 1d6 hours per glass oh my god it's 60 golden glass oh god there's their most popular wine succubus kiss it's 15 golden glass it's bubbling pink and it makes the drinker believe they are very desirable they do not change physically but they are filled with confidence for whatever is on their mind gaining advantage on performance and persuasion checks whilst under the effect of the drink sick simply confidence and charisma alone hell yeah nice for 25 gold a shot you can get a shot of insomnia insomnia is a pure white wine only ever served in a shot because when consumed a drink can't sleep for the next one d4 days but still gains the effects of a long rest by doing little for eight hours so could work through the night reading researching writing random no no light up no that one looks like it was made for you yes it does let's try and at least have one restful nice before you go drinking that though for just five gold a glass shine wine a bright bioluminescent non-alcoholic wine that makes the drinker's eyes shine bright blue in the dark for one day four days and finally for 90 gold a bottle and you have to drink the whole bottle but it's not alcoholic the refresher mint colored and flavoured wine that magically cleans the drinker's mouth when consumed washes away any traces of toxins in the body including previously drunk alcohol drinking a whole bottle clears the drinker of all levels of exhaustion i'll have this full hp i'll take it i'll have it man i'll give it to me i'll have it two bottles of refresher yeah places must be very nice she brings over two bottles of this mint colored liquid 90 gold buy exhaustion it's worth it by 600 to 477 in the last like half hour without god spending money all right points back tight i will down this bottle of non-alcoholic wine i'm gonna get a shot of the insomnia stuff but it says that you don't need to sleep and that you still get rest but what if you're already wiped out i suppose as long as you don't do anything for eight hours you'll get a rest i think it's worth it cereal can we take any of this to go oh absolutely you don't have to drink it here we won't make you get drunk in the venue i'm interested in the blessed one how much was that one again in 60 gold of glass they can provide it in like glass-sized bottles so you only have to buy like a potion bottle essentially yeah yes i'll have some of that to go with that's right just the one bottle whistle one glass would you stand still that looks like we should follow them yes i suppose so you sort of push through the crowds with the guards not far behind sort of thank you one of these big sort of half-hour guards claps a hand on the half elf shoulder it's like right you hands behind your back what did he do caught robbing someone who was setting up for the ceremony [Music] we'll see him sort of give up once the guards pull his hands behind his back into cuffs and what does he do that fortunately please don't speak to the smuggler thank you thank you for your assistance that's all right so the last thing we need right now is smugglers and you see the half hour turn his face away this is a big problem here or from time to time i like to think we don't have any defenses and take advantage of that maybe we can see if we can set you up with some sort of reward and we won't say no you can follow us back towards the the governor's office we'll deal with this man and the guards sort of lead the four of you back through the town with his heart felt like glowing at them they take off in this pouch with a hole in it at the bottom which is like full of gold coins and trinkets and it looks like things like jewelry that's been swiped off various stalls through the market and lead you to down the side street into another smaller square and you see a big like sort of beige plastered building with these wooden shutters and different features just wait here thank you very much that was better than last time much better thank you and after a while the other guard who was a triton comes out here thank you very much they'll give you 20 gold each nice thank you very much then glances abandoned and down at his hand and up at him again and then he's like sort of bristles slightly on the defense yeah what's this about the titan looks down at his hand again a signal ring ah this is you we've uh we've been told to look out for you come with us too if you don't mind ah she kind of sort of stepped in faces painted in vibrant colors mainly oranges reds and yellows although others with mixtures of black and grey that look like smoke patterns through the face paint there seems to be a couple of stalls set up where people can help themselves to the paints on offer and decorate their own faces for celebration you see on one stoop a older half elven man sitting with a few children sort of cross-legged on the floor with wide eyes as they listen to him telling stories of the island and the soul of the volcano choosing and distraught how the choosing in this festival will help keep them safe for years to come from the explosive rage of the slumbering sentinel titan people pouring out the houses and the shops as you pass by more than anything there seems to be a sense of community and sharing everywhere you go right now you can see the crystal bad with its doors and windows thrown open people drinking and talking and dancing all around it as they come together in excitement you see people leaning outside the building on the street people with like long pipes people inside like making space making a dance floor already some music pouring out everywhere you go the air smells rich with food sweet fruits and fresh breads and cooking meats the sources of these delicious scents all around you from stands and grills so anyone can share in a meal for the night essentially turning some locals ask you what you're looking for and they put you back down towards the waterline and you move sort of along the water line down to the cliff's edge and then you see a sort of a cave mouth open into the cliff's edge and you peer in and you notice a few torches down there and a big wooden door and there's a sign above the door well well illuminated that says la cueva is it some like branch of comet local common you could probably tell me that it means something along the lines of like the cave okay and you head down there you can smell like sort of beautiful food smells coming from the inside make your way down to the entrance of it push through the doors and you see a huge crystalline pool inside with a small wooden bridge across it over to a crater on the other side with like palm trees growing in it and like a huge open crater hole up to the sky wow so you're moving like through a cave but then there's like this massive hole and on the floor there around the trees of like half a dozen tables it's amazing very unique you move across the bridge you can see greenery sprouting from the rocks a number of lanterns in small carved holes that create atmospheric lighting and at the far end there's numerous tables set out with another pool of water larger than the first one glistening in the low light of the cave it's an absolutely beautiful sight and you notice that most of the tables sit right under the opening of the restaurant where you can now see the colours of the sunset and soon we'll see the night sky okay let's see if we can get a table here under the stars a staff member comes over and you can the two of you get a table there's a couple of other people in here but you get the impression that most people are probably in the town enjoying like the free buffets in the streets so you mostly have the place to yourself oh yeah there's a small stage off to the right with just like a simple musician playing a layer like quietly very peaceful and at the back end you see some cactuses growing up towards the crater hole they're even taller than the palm trees big spiky little sat there there are tablecloths there's silver cutlery this isn't russians good it feels like such a long time since i've had a proper restaurant meal i don't know if i've really never had a proper restaurant meal this is on me i'm sure yes you will be tweeted tonight they bring over menus for you and there's sort of like locally caught fish and fresh cups of meat and all kinds of like fried fruits and vegetables and delicacies from the island and you learn that lots of it is cooked like over the volcanic rock essentially fantasy order some night like the whole shebang like like a starter a main course and a dessert appetizers as well yeah yeah i'll concede to cassian's knowledge on this because i'm just like half of these things over at the tavern oh astrid you're welcomed inside to cheers you see the people who passed you in the street in there and so we're waving at you one of them is a half orc halfling you think she's about five foot that's a very brave hobby oh yeah green skin and hair hazel eyes and a soft sort of heart-shaped face wearing simple earthy toned clothing you see a fire ginacy looks to be a bit older than you are golden eyes like solid golden eyes uh reddish brown skin and a mohawk of raw flame oh hell yeah sort of with a little like rat tail at the back i'm wearing dark red and black loose clothing that exposes his arms which are very toned oh yeah and his sides like all the way down to his waistband and you see a water janassi has stormy blue skin and long black hair that looks like it's probably wet um he's full of braids pointed ears he's got like a sharp jawline piercing blue eyes wearing a simple colorful waist wrap and an open white shirt and the three of you were like yeah you came we did ask it's busy in here yeah and everyone's gonna love a bit of music i'll do what i can they introduce themselves to you the halfling half office called carmen the fire jason is called tully and the water genesee is called niles and they tell you that they are the uncalled four what kind of local group of ned wells is this judy's like yeah where the uncalled for oh i thought she said four is in the number i was like yeah the uncle four okay four where's number four carmen's like we haven't seen him for a while oh there are usually four of us and the name's not quite as interesting just the three of us but julie's like i'm called four you can be the fourth one for tonight or tonight why not come on show us what you can do okay do you play anything or well do i play anything do i play anything and you like drag some bongo drums out from behind the bar and be like i have such a beast go for it play music for a while you find multiple drinks being bought for you by people in the bar oh no people swap in and out and play music the energy of the night is high at some point you see that same blonde woman in a very revealing blouse who was at the dragon tree this morning playing music she comes in and she takes sort of the it's not even a stage it's basically just a barrel to sit on um she's still wearing this yellow blouse comes up very high and down very low playing the layer singing beautifully she introduced herself to the whole room with chloe with a why where she plays for a while and she comes over to join all of you and it's just like i saw you you were at the dragon tree yes your singing is beautiful thank you so was yours thank you so you're not local to hassan either which is great because everybody else seems to be and and that's fine but i can't really ramble on and on about how much i love the culture here in the geothermal pools or anything like that to the locals because they know all about it i don't know anything about it i'm completely honest we only arrived yesterday well let me tell you all about it okay and she will lean forward and engage with you tell you about the strange culture here of the scoria idol ceremonies she said she's desperate to write songs all about them she can't wait to go and check out the volcano if possible and she tells you about the geothermal park closer to the volcano just like pools of hot sulfur and mud baths and just completely charismatic and friendly through the night and the other three just sort of notice how many hours have passed that you've been in the bar so far but then drinks five oh that's true you find yourself being like swept along and sort of half the crowd of tavern moved down to the beach and you end up on this stretch of like black sand and then the waters you see pricks of bioluminescent creatures like fish and coral and your eyes glow too at some point you're not really sure when you end up sort of side by side with nails who's just not quite as rowdy as the others who's just like chats with you ask you about riven anything you're willing to tell him very little but i will converse you learn that he's a reef tour guide sick okay so he's a he can cast water breathing on people and take them down to see the reef i definitely want to do that and then you should i can take you right now if you wanted right now yeah why not why not sure come on it will just sort of lead you down the beach waving the others like let's do this okay you'll reach out to your hand give him my hand now you'll cast water breathing on you sick i don't want to strip out any stuff you don't want to get wet okay you can look after a county ramble the carmen's like from about 30 feet away water it's a little chilly this late at night but it's nice and you see this like little glowing fish darting around in the water little shrimps and he holds you down under the water and swims you down to a colorful reef around the edges of the cliff completely unaware that you're like maybe a hundred feet from these guys in the cave but you swim down and you see like multi-colored eels and huge flat fish the likes of which you've never seen before you see a turtle swimming past this is so cool and he just swims around and points out the different fish to you and tells you about the coral life here and how it's grown on this massive underwater volcanic split just completely enraptured with everything just eyes wide looking at all these creatures i've never seen this kind of world before like whoa niles is completely enraptured with you oh his hair sort of floats about him in the water like almost like seaweed i see you can talk underwater with the water breathing spell on oh awesome i'm getting flustered you've been targeted come on tipsy astra he's been swimming for a while and he's just sort of like on his back underwater like kicking his feet along as if he was on the surface and he's like oh this isn't bold of me to say but you're beautiful tipsy astro goes very bubble in the vasanas even when you're purple thank you that's very sweet of you can i kiss you it swims up close to you sort of training water underwater ah nods kind of nervous but not anyway this swims up while he's still kicking his feet just sort of takes asterous space in his hands and leans in and kisses you one of his hands comes down to your waist pulls you close and sort of not making the effort to stay underwater like kind of come to the surface and i'm still kissing you what does astra do kiss his back imagine for a while it's just like nothing in shock complete shock and he's like this isn't like when i was eight [Music] i mean it's still wet but still different ways and just as niles is going to pull back castro kisses back yeah he'll splash around in the water with you and kiss you a lot just follow niles's lead of how to do this yeah it's too cold after the work after a while come out onto the beach a little further down from where the now rowdy beach party is happening [Music] sit there next you and put an arm around you it's always on the beach be like you can stay um you learned that the mine has been the quarry has been closed for a short while because they have been worried about a curse the tomb has been uncovered there in the ancient lava flow romantic conversation he tells you with like excitement it's sort of like you get the impression yeah that people are just scaremongering about the curse but that people are enjoying the story around the island it tells you more about the last scorian idol um who's turned to 13 now that they have the rest of the week to find a replacement one if they want to keep the volcano nice and peaceful ash will now finally be like what is a volcano and start questioning what the a smoking mountain does niles explains it thank you and explains sort of reassuringly the the volcano hasn't been active for hundreds of years and it's not going to explode on the screen thank you and then he'll take your hand and he'll lead you back into the town you just follow yeah then in which case he will take you from you and he doesn't seem to have noticed you pushing the door open slightly his hands are tracing arcane sigils in the air he's muttering something under his breath in something you don't recognize the words but you do recognize it as undercommon a thin wave of arcane energy ripples out from where he is in all directions and the moment it reaches where you are and two of you sort of with holes for his bed got the little sticks it's big chunky dragon ball oh i walk in sticks um and yeah you head east into the island you follow the road tracks for a while and then zerif identifies like a route off the road points one of his walking sticks towards it it's like that's the one head down there that's where i heard the snail was okay all right this fabled snail and then you head off the road into the forest as you do clouds and dense canopy prevent the sunlight from reaching the forest floor sort of low dappled twilight under the trees you saw when you came in like the mists rolling across the centre of the island and all the way through the forest it's misty and dark the strange and snaking and weaving forms of the trees and giant ferns taking on a sort of surreal appearance as you move through them colors dimmed by the constant moisture in the air here the sea clouds over the island sort of seem to dip into the tree line everything gets a bit damp as that sort of moisture in the air clings to it there's a slow endless cycle it drips onto the ground from the leaves making the forest floor eternally slick and damp it wet really so enthusiasts be like not quite everywhere you walk and you're aware of this lumbering shadow of this huge volcano in the center of the island what must be the slumbering sentinel it's like it juts out of the terrain a shot of glass jagged and reaching for the heavens you lead down one pathway through the trees and into the abundance of jungle beyond a sturdy wooden walkway trails through the canopy here splasher looks very contented as we're walking through zarif too as you progress through the trees he leads you off the wooden walkway onto a deeper path you clamber over a large tangle of tree roots at the base of a colossal tree trunk and you hear the sustained splashing of water on rock a stream bubbles along beside you but that can't be the source of it further upstream as you move along this dirt path the water opens into a large crystal clear blue pool at the base of a small waterfall water cascades over the high rocks and runs down in a curtain of rivulets and there's a small cave-like space beyond it under a craggy overhang major perception jack 24 eight one so three so sorry you see it first you've come to kind of the end of the trodden path here and you get the impression that the locals come this way for the waterfall um but you see a wide slimy trail through the undergrowth it's about a foot wide yes how big are these snails they're pretty big i it looks the others don't know about you but i was expecting a snail snail yes is that could that be fun that looks like it might be it that's huge that's really big oh he goes closer you see him just dip his fingers into the slime oh oh you see it sort of glistens like rainbow colors in the light that's pretty this is it you found the trail okay right before we get any closer what exactly are we doing with the snail oh um i'm gonna i'm gonna have to be taking notes um and the warden here he tells me that he travels with spellcasters well you see the snail's anti-magic shell deflects magical spells so i don't want the the snail to i don't want to die but i would love for you to cast spells at it so i can observe the properties of the shell oh okay and if it gets too injured um heal it okay okay so we're just going to bother the snail for a while yes all right okay okay let's follow the trail it's just a snail it's just a snail i guess we just have to make sure that we don't get hit by our own spells yes just be vigilant for the snail for the snail and for its shell bouncing spells back at us why do these things keep happening make a survival check to follow the snail trail oh um oh yeah everyone first okay and that one undergrowth but you push a few more aside and you're able to pick up this trail again and sort of you two at the front pushing bushes aside and leading everyone further into the forest as you follow it as you do the roof just begins to wax poetic about the snake he tells you that they move very slowly and that they can consume everything in their path they vegetation sand dirt rocks they're particularly fond of crystal growths and mineral deposits craves that mineral absolutely and he tells you that because of the pressure of the heat of lava it often forms like these green crystals inside the lava rock which is what makes it such a great environment for the flail snip oh my god green crystal like the jewelry we saw in one exact place as you keep going maybe another survival gem i would like to instead call speak with plants oh okay speak to them trees little shimmer of magic and then to the bushes and the areas have you seen a giant snail anywhere around here the bushes in the area astro you can question them on anything so they can communicate back to you in a way that i don't understand um when i say you hear it basically like a sense of what they're trying to tell you everything else everyone else just hears rustling so these plants are just like all the plants like dancing um and you hear them just sort of like yes yes snail yes which way should have gone this way yes and then like clothes rustling over to one side you see like snail sort of mouth marks in the leaves and they sort of keep wrestling in that direction okay can you move slightly out the way so we can get past without treading on you thank you this way okay okay oh that is fantastic there's a real sort of plot after you the purpose is like i don't like that can we hear him speaking english to the plants or like yeah you heard him speaking common to the plants that's that's new every day astrid is something this new come on we keep going this way and because it lasts for 10 minutes as we go up just keep you doing okay double checking with the plants how do you do as a wreath tells you more snail facts it's time for another snail fact it tells you that depending on how old the flail snail is the strength of its anti-magic properties will grow on the gold he tells you that they have a very slow metabolism which renders them immune to poison while they're thick shells and the wet a gland in the snail's foot the mucus serves as a protective layer for its skin and a lubricant for its motion as it moves this shimmering trail that you are following is potent and can be used to produce clear glass yup same house snail glass is he collecting some of this mucus as we go absolutely okay he's finding like particularly global bits oh it's stuck to rocks and stuff and he's like scraping them into little jars very endearing man yeah he has his hobbies with astrid to speak with plants and this trail of slime it doesn't take you much longer you you have walked for like half the day um but you find your way to a leafy grove in the middle of which you catch the shine of what looks like a huge seashell until you realize sort of ducked into kind of like a craggy rock at the other end you're staring at a giant snail chewing on a piece of volcanic rock with a glimmer of green gem inside it it's about eight foot high wow it has five tentacles on its face which is swaying very slowly in constant motion and its shell is very colorful and scintillating growing in a clockwise spiral reflecting a rainbow of colors that's not unlike the mother of pearl astros horns as soon as you spot the snail you see zaru's face just like it's his birthday oh that's your friend it's really big yeah well then let's strategize and begin so we just surround it throw some magic at it and try not to get hit by each other's spells and try not to kill it that spread out is very cruel didn't will it hurt it well i am here to observe but it does have an anti-magic shell so in theory no okay okay i will say the thing is you're not intending to hurt it you can essentially pull your punches and do like the minimum damage okay when you're throwing spells okay zarif will go last um apart from that it'll be wrong initiative goodness gracious okay astrid eight cassian eleven cereal also eleven huh nineteen christ madden is ready so the four of you spread out as the reef finds a good from the forests across the rocky and arid land in places it's steep in other places it lulls into dark valleys the sun going down now the path starts to descend small stone scraping under the horse's feet as we reach what can only be the fire pit quarry you can see this huge space once a magnificent lake basin in the shadow of the volcano you can see clearly now from where you've ridden inland water has since been drained away to leave an expansive crater in the middle of the earth this area is rich in natural resources particularly those useful in the process of making black powder and as you descend further into the chasm you can see the walls have layers of sedimentary rock left there by the lake that it used to house you see a desolate quarry that would usually be a bustling hive of activity you can see abandoned pickaxes engineering kits like where people have just left what they were doing with their shovels and their like sample jars you see a geothermal pool everything here stinks of sulfur sort of permeating eggy smell from the natural sulfur in the pools you see black sand in towering piles like on wheelbarrows and the like now devoid of workers temporarily closed due to this curse there are neatly organized stacks of logs at one end of the quarry and a number of different sharp smells reach your nostrils as you venture further inside burning wood the stench of sulfur the sting of something chemical the ground underfoot as you dismount the horses is warm and contains long thin cracks in places they look like they've been created with intent in other places you see instead of cracks long crystalline veins of saltpeter stretching through the ground to one end of the quarry you see a large metal building standing there supported by thick iron struts with several boards with warning signs on them and attention notices around this perimeter without even getting close you get the impression that that's where they make the come from that's why they make the gun powder to the other end of the quarry you see a sinkhole cordoned off hastily with rope well this stinks doesn't it yes i suppose we should have a look around just be careful apparently they were making lights about this whole curve situation but something actually is going on was just keep our with some houses perhaps all over here we can find our oak friends samples that he said dooley needs that's a good idea and it's gonna wander off towards the sinkhole he's like i think this is the grave um you join him over there yeah as you approach you see it's collapsed in perhaps 10 feet down and 20 feet across um and at the bottom amongst the volcanic dust where it's collapsed are several corpses fragile and ancient and yet stinking like they died less than a year ago one of the skulls is shattered and you see sharp clear fragments inside of them like glass others wear jewels and gold that appear to have melted onto their bones ah the whole site like a bizarre and morbid art installation in the pocket of earth created where like an ancient flow of lava river struck these people and instantly formed this like bubble around them as it melted them down oh crew is there any sort of air abundant about them um say make a i guess it'd be an arcana check 24 24 nothing you were aware of the aura of necromancy kind of spells you feel nothing there's nothing like that here at all and these bodies don't look like they could get up they're sort of like melted into the lava flow well it's not necromancy no it doesn't look like they'd be able to get up if they wanted to the poor things wasn't awful maybe something else was in there with them perhaps or something maybe somebody's using it as a cover i don't know fiddling around i guess if we just keep looking cool things he just brings his sword up like stowing his bow quickly brings his sword up and like knocks the other one out the way and it's his turn get him okay he's going to bonus action cast hunter's mark oh um on the one in front of him is that something he needs to concentrate on it is indeed it's his very first concentration oh maybe it's well he's concentrating oh for once in his life on a spell if there was an opposite inspiration you would have it right now minus d4 exhaustion exhausted yeah just for one round um and then he's going to take two attacks against the guy with his short sword it's d6 that's another d6 for hunter's map so the first attack nice that's 10 points of dimash oh the guy looks very rough his eyes just sort of go a little wider his hand goes to swing again is hunter's mark every time i think it is concentration until the spell ends you deal extra d6 every time you nice we'll have a hundreds mark we'll have a hundred oh oh he's down oh oh rip after this wiggly man and then his first short sword comes in the second one just goes back across his throat oh and he drops to the ground okay cassian calcium is going to cast armor of agathis on himself and in case himself in shards of ice nice gaining 20 temperature points points please swagger over to the blinded gentlemen just stand comfortably in his melee range and say to the poor blind man like perhaps throw down your arms and tell us what you're doing here make a persuasion advantage that is not necessary in this situation not even gonna wait for his term he just dropped his weapons i hand straight up still completely blind good boy but it is his turn next so that's that's what he's doing as his action and he's like come on guys we might as well give it up the other one who serial has just poofed in front of not gonna give it up quite so easy you're now right in front of him yep stows the crossbow pulls out scimitar and dagger first one's the natural one ariel just can bring up primals heritage claws and just knocked it away second one's a 16 shield [Music] the erupting from your staff the shield comes up in front of you and the sword again just clatters off it he's like huh he's going to try and in desperation stab at you with his dagger through the shield um no no that's a 10. no drops his weapons as well nice very good astro um i'm going to use my action to dash and get all the way over to the guy in the back yeah and i can't do anything when i get there but when i do arrive like as i'm running i'm going to be like pulling my rope out of my bag and so i'm essentially just going to like tie him up before he can become yeah back to his wits okay perfect cereal the guy in front of you has dropped his weapons let's get down shall we he doesn't even attempt to pick up his weapons again as he just turns to start shining down she'll kick them right right out of the way unless anyone else is doing anything else i think that concludes the combat yeah astra will tie up the guy in the back and then as soon as like the final knot is done just drop his concentration so this guy just blinked and then suddenly tied up like you see he's just like sort of startled inside he's still oh can you not what are you doing here i'm not going to talk about it all right we'll just ask your friends yes sir blind sir what are you doing here sighs heavily well robin aren't we what for the black powder yes so are you because of the strange going ons sort of so could can i am i allowed to see again oh i can't stop that you've got to do it yourself okay it slowly seeps out looks around it's like yeah we're responsible for the curse ash's tail comes up and slaps the guy next to him his like face lightly just see [Music] see he could have said that last year committed to violence physical violence it was just like a tap violence right he's gone roguelites so you heard about the grave and thought oh that's an opportunity for some thievery i thought we'd take advantage of it and steal some of their black powder no it's it's smart i'll give you that is it but bob over there is a smell so my ass just got tied up and you know you can make illusions and all kinds of stuff oh he can probably do thormaturgy how cute well you don't need to be able to do big spells like you guys do just a scared normal off who are you anyway are you here for the black powder as well no we're here to stop you cheers sorry go ahead yes we are responsible what do you know about the idol what about the idol oh everything that's going on and then you know the volcano set off last night and the whole library we don't have anything to do with that oh that doesn't surprise me this is very concerning but all we're trying to do is make a few bucks you know right well i turning to actual party i suppose we should turn these fellows in yes absolutely uh find out what is actually going on if it's not their fault right there is no curse yes tie their wrists are you just trying to make some money do you not have anywhere to live [Music] no not homeless just don't think that feral status should have enough all the most dangerous non-arcane substance in the world okay turn them in i guess we'll have a look around and see if you can find the the samples that yeah i'll help you with that if you want to thanks i probably need it 18. thank you okay yeah find it too hard to find them you find a door sort of the only other door off the warehouse um into like an office for whoever is running the quarry and in there you find a crate which is just labeled patrick pulver and you open it up and there's samples inside yeah just take them with us having another pair of holding glass around you also see some paperwork um like flicking over it and stuff you see paperwork for clothes in the quarry you see that the line manager was really annoyed even curses um what else are they going to do with the criminals and you flicking through it realize that they send criminals to the quarry to work off their crimes anyway their slots are going to end up right here [Laughter] quite ironically i hope you made yourself acquainted with the area because it looks like you'll be coming back to work yeah yeah fine i was like come on poke his back with his sword just like get moving guess on the horses and between the group of you can sort of get the three remainings and get the three remaining guys onto the horses um and start moving them back towards the town is how long is it back to town um probably an hour goodbye temperature points you are such a waste no as you make your way back towards our chorus with the bandits in tow you're walking on the road sort of in a little tense you know this look like it might be an easy answer to what's going on but you have more questions now than you did before and all of a sudden there is a deafening boom from the inside of the volcano you look back towards it and you realize that smoke is rising from it again not black smoke not the smoke of an imminent eruption but a huge wave of greenish yellow smoke it travels from the top of the volcano towards the coast towards puerto ricorus it moves fast as you head back towards the town it drifts right overhead of where you are maybe 80 feet in the air and you notice it's shifting and twisting as though it were alive stretching out like a cloud as it begins to descend onto the town which is when you begin to hear the desperate screams of the civilians and that is where what tonight um that's not no oh stinky the sentinel just did a sleep fart well dangerous
