Exploring Abandoned Mental Hospital In a Frozen Forest

[Music] in today's episode I'm taking you inside to explore a historic mental hospital dating back over a [Music] century the hospital a major part of the town's history was originally a tuberculosis treatment center from 1912 to [Music] 1960 in 1960 it transitioned into a mental facility for the mentally disabled but closed in 1995 in its nearly 90 years of operations many people have died in the hospital including several employees from natural causes or suicide the hospital now in Ruins is a testment to the past and has not been reopened the hospital was renowned for its innovative Sun cure or heliotherapy a treatment method that harnessed the sun's Rays to Aid patients the site's future remains to be determined with officials considering demolition or refurbishment only time will tell now let's step inside to see what's left from a bygone [Music] era wow I can't believe I haven't made it here yet this is my first time coming here but good gracious this place is absolutely beautiful it is breathtaking from the outside I mean look at this it is absolutely gorgeous how have I not come here before I cannot wait to go inside so we're going to do just that and see what lies ahead so let's go I don't see any footprints in the snow so looks like nobody has been here in a while let's go inside and check see what's inside wow so this is the front entryway to the hospital JN Adams Memorial Hospital look at that fireplace how did I not know about this spot before this is absolutely gorgeous it's like one of the most beautiful places I've seen wow from the outside anyway the inside looks pretty torn up but like really like if you could look past the vandalism and graffiti in this place this place would have been so beautiful like words cannot describe what is through here yeah words cannot describe how beautiful this place really is I wish you guys were with me right now well you are in spirit but you're not actually here with me oh oh look how open this is look at all the wind look at all the windows wow like jeez what is [Music] this oh this is gorgeous wow now you guys know why I love to explore because you get to see stuff like this that normal people don't a lot of people that live in the area always see this place driving by the highway but they don't know what it looks like inside until somebody like me goes in and shows them they're just on their way to work every single day just passing by wondering what's inside that place well here you go this is absolutely breathtaking geez and look at the star this is great wow is that a what kind of symbol is that I don't know but it's in the middle of the floor look at this this is so great this is absolutely fantastic what is that it's look it looks like a a a star in the center there this is great oh and look you can see the chandel look at the old chandeliers I'm going to see if I can get a picture of this place and it's Heyday and show you a before and after contrast and look at this this place is extremely dangerous y'all it looks like the whole side of the wall just C I was going to say it looked like the side of the wall just caved in I don't think y'all heard that on camera and saw that on camera but a piece of the ceiling just fell down as I was saying that wow I wish I would have caught that on camera but it was pretty uh decent Siz piece look at all the brick work I wish they can save this place but you can't there's no way the brick work is just that bad tags everywhere graffiti tags Decay natural Decay once water gets into a place like this it's just you can't come back from [Music] [Music] that look at the lights on the ceiling oh it looks it looks like they had like The Old hologen Edison bulbs on the ceiling no LED on this one sorry kids no LED this is very old school here and that's the charm of this place this is gorgeous oh my God this is like my favorite place and it's so decayed like it's beyond decayed it just looks like a pile of trash but like in a good way what is through here this is absolute Rubble I'm chilling today y'all this is great I am chilling this is a very chill explore I'm not on my toes I'm not at the edge of my seat and I love that it's just a good old boring explore and those are the best kind to me those kind cuz you don't have to worry about security you don't have to worry about the cops it's a well-known spot that everybody comes to and it's just so well relaxed I love that I love boring look at this let's punch it beautiful icicles this must be the kitchen what does that graffiti say being the reason I feel pain oh tired of love being the reason I feel pain okay gotcha this is definitely inside the kitchen it's another reason why I like this hospital let me tell you as I was saying another reason why I like this hospital it doesn't feel claustrophobic and the doors are not locked the doors are actually wide open throughout the whole hospital cuz a lot of times I will go inside of a hospital where the doors feel locked and I feel like I'm trapped inside and I'm not going to get out this is totally opposite from that it's completely wide open I love that thank you and this is my January trip I'm exploring in January right now and January is actually one of my favorite months to explore because it's very cold outside and you get to see snow this is my time to shine you know you know what I mean I love January exploring everything is just much more beautiful in the snow as you can tell in the summer it's just like way too hot to explore every single day it actually kind of sucks exploring in the summer especially when you're in the Deep South like Louisiana Alabama Mississippi those States right there oh and especially Florida the amount of mosquitoes that are in Florida Louisiana Mississippi good gracious somebody saved me now I cannot stand it and that's not counting the ticks fleas and dust smites I know I'm I'm just rambling on today guys I know that I realize but I feel good this is a good explore today very good I'm not on the edge of my seat and when that happens I like to go out and eat grab a few drinks and just kick back and lay back after you know you killed a good Explorer you got all the pictures that you want you got all the be old footage you got everything that you need from a place and you know you're excited about it when you make the video that's when you know you killed it and that's when you know you need to reward yourself after let's go get a meal after let's eat not only eat but let's grab a couple of beers too while we're at it I don't even drink that much I really don't like drinking but you know why not uh reward yourself get a few beers in you right before you fall asleep call it a day look how beautiful this is y'all good gracious we have a lot to explore like I haven't even broken the ice yet literally broken ice this is a big explore y'all we got a lot to go back at the entrance where I first came in at sort of I really got want you guys to understand where we're going this remember this this is the Blue Dome area this is the center of the Asylum and I went that way that was part of the kitchen now let's go over here this place is really easy to EXP floor because everything's open it's like the shape of the building is like one big S curve literally it looks like an S like a squiggly line like an S and you walk through it just like an S so it's very easy to understand it's very hard to get lost in here because the buildings are really narrow they're not oddly shaped or anything I really want to go down there y'all but I may save that part for that looks very dangerous these stairs these stairs look like ass I'm not too crazy about that look at the iron work here this is ridiculous look at that it's hard as a rock right there oh look at that oh I'm definitely not going up that route that that looks crazy yeah I don't want to kill myself excuse me I don't want to kill myself let's go this way and see what we got shall we shall you look at the old fixtures the old light fixtures like that look at that that's very cool to see that I think this place is over a century old I haven't done my homework on it yet but I feel like it's a century old they haven't well they updated a few things but not everything one of the things that I think they may have updated Through The Years where these light fixtures those light fixtures were big in like the 50 and 60s so excuse me for not doing my homework just yet but I will tell you all that in the intro and if you forget you can always rewind the video and go back and see it we just leaving stuff behind here oh look at this hallway this is spooky this is very crazy look at this very dark in here should I turn my light on or do you guys want the full effect I know you guys yell at me whenever you can't see anything so I'll give you I tell you what I'll give you both this is with the lights off and let's pop them on so you get the best of both worlds I know I get fussed at a lot in the comments Rick I can't see anything well H yeah I know that but I do that for certain reasons you just have to rewatch my videos to find out why but there could be a variety of reasons for that but right now we're just kind of ticking along see what we can see see if anything's really left behind and I don't see much that's left behind what is this oh I see a fan you're my number one fan I need more of those my goodness I'm so excited because no abandoned place is complete without saying with me Christmas tree Decor yes indeed look at that that is a old Christmas tree stand it's seen better days but good gracious I love that if anybody who's anybody who knows me you'll know I love Christmas decor look at this here's an old stationary bicycle let's see if this thing still spins if it does I'm going to buy myself a couple of beers now I went backwards let's do forward well kind of I don't know if you can actually get a good workout on that there's like no resistance to it at all a little bit but not really speaking of beers though kind of need a couple of those right now you know what I'm saying might reward myself after this one it's a good feeling you know what I'm saying look at that beautiful outside I tell you the these buildings just go on forever but I love the way this building is designed like I said it's just one big scurve very easy to understand and coordinate look at this over time the ceiling has just decayed from Mother Nature and time and all of the particles from the ceiling dripped down into the floor and it made this a mountainous terrain of dust ESP and whatever else you can imagine is on that ground I'm not going to show you each and every one of these little single rooms and all ways because they're very linear they look the same nothing too exciting look at this just found a toilet a missing toilet actually this is one of those bedet that they usually have in hospitals this is not a proper toilet um that is a bathroom zinc though I love the tile work in here very pretty for an old Asylum like this very nice very nice let's keep it moving migrations here we go I'm seeing a possible staircase that I can take straight ahead so let's knock ourselves out and see what's up there I guess well believe it or not so right now I'm on the second floor and believe it or not that is the highway straight ahead it's just maybe about I don't know what is that 20 yards away from me where I'm standing right now on the second floor so at least I know where I'm at easy parking nobody goes behind the trees that's good let's keep it moving see what else we got in here shall we now do you know why they made these right here I read about this they made these cages just the way they are and they made the staircases very narrow with no gaps in them the reason why they did that because the mentally insane or the Disturbed patients won't commit suicide when they're standing way up there and wanting to kill themselves jumping way down there now you know all right I just made it to the second floor a lot of this y'all looks like the same story but still really cool in its own right I want to say this hospital has one main good feature and that is the center dome which we have already explored that teal greenish blue dome in the center and the rest is kind of like eh whatever it's like the run-of-the-mill I think the main thing about this place is the excellent views this is why you come here look at that this is why you would come here the amazing views the amazing architecture from the outside and of course the Blue Dome the rest is just kind of like yeah I appreciate it but it's not that great but it's still one of my favorite places though even though it's just running the mill I think the main reason why you will come here is the feelings that you get when you come inside you know this place had a lot of history to it a lot of good history a lot of bad history this is the reason why for the feeling that you get when you come inside it's the best feeling ever the use outside yes but inside not so much I got to show you this this is actually the bathroom right here I found this here Yep this is the bathroom the reason why I want to show you this room is because it's pretty much the only room that's kind of still in contact look at that it's still sort of in contact of all rooms in a place like this the bathroom is in the best condition usually it's the opposite way around I'm surprised they haven't demoed this place yet uh wait a minute this is the end wait a minute this is only two floors what oh we got other buildings to explore but good gracious that's the other side but according to this wall it looks like they blocked it off there's no way that this could be the end huh now they blocked this thing wait hold on we might have to go outside to come back inside I'm contrad addicting myself of what I said earlier might have been too good to be true but let's see let's see what this thing does I think we might have multiple buildings here yeah we do oh can't go out that way yep I take back everything I'm said okay just joking all right we're going to have to do a little backtrack in here but doesn't look like too bad of a backtrack so let's do that let's go over there look like we have a downstairs that goes inside the basement area let's go ahead and check and see what's in there I don't like basements you know why I feel trapped in the there's no sunlight whatsoever but we got to check it out cuz I am an Urban Explorer I've been doing this for like since 2017 so I got some years of experience okay well that's good that's a good sign we do have some windows down here this is the basement which way should we take first let's hang a right cuz it looks like the shortest part of the facility let's see what's down here they have uh quite a few other multiple buildings on a facility but I think it might be the same gig meaning a lot of those are just kind of torn up and all torn to shreds as you can see we're not doing much better in here this is an old bathroom can tell by the the doors in here very classic looking doors it's actually quite beautiful I see it as being beautiful so this is the basement I'm wondering if we have a sub basement here I heard there might be tunnels underground I have not found that yet but I got a feeling the tunnels are kind of whatever look at that more Christmas tree decorations just found another favorite room of mine this curvature Crescent Moon shaped room found a cool cool looking old chair possibly from the 1940s I love the teal wall the bluish kind of hue to it look at that this is when you know buildings have been sitting for quite some time they build that calcium like that right that there and it just kind of drips down and over time it starts making its own deposits on the floor kind of like that right there it's hard very hard yeah I I've heard of this place rumor has it that they do have underground tunnels in here I just don't know where they're at I have no education of this place whatsoever just very basic knowledge but they they are under here somewhere leading to different buildings look at this another cool looking bathroom Arrow flush the nurse will come in here open that up with her feet like this and just throw whatever needs to be thrown away in theuh toilet I don't even think they make these count anymore look at the look at the old furniture look at that Isn't that cool is that like wallp Pap or something it's like part of the uh yeah that's just like a stick on piece of like a little sticker or something yeah just make sure you turn the light out before you leave no problem basement oh this must be the sub basement this might be where the tunnels are at I don't know we're going to try to find them can we I don't know I know I'm not successful on all my explorers of finding everything but sometimes I lock out o what is this oh this is definitely the sub basement smells just like I thought it would yeah okay I think this might be the tunnels what is this back here this has got to be the tunnels because at one point in time I bet you any money this gate right here was to block off all the steam tunnels leading to the other buildings I bet you that was a locked door this little cage right here I've seen that on other asylums and hospitals it is cold here guys very cold down here you probably see my breath in front the camera very cold too cold wait a minute what is this so it's like above ground underground tunnels what is this oh wait it ends right here oh what the hell is going on like why is this even here what does this lead to I don't want to trip in fall here where does this even go what the hell oh I am not going in there y'all I don't know what that leads to but I don't get paid enough of this so yeah that's Bey on my pay grade I'm going leave that to another Urban Explorer who likes to deal with caves and caverns and stuff I'm backing out on this one let's go somewhere else yeah that's beyond my pay grade y'all I got a lot of gear on me and I don't like getting stuck all right uh let's find another spot found this right here this little opening hatch it says confin space entry by permit only this is actually the foundation of the building underground now if there's more tunnels in here you're probably not going to see it on this episode cuz I'm not going in there but uh it looks like the foundation and nothing more but uh we can only speculate it's part of the stairwell that's where the People Under the Stairs live y'all ever seen that movie it's a classic I love that horror movie one of my favorites actually what do we have up here okay now we're going back up yeah that just kind of leads to outside all right so might have to go outside to come back inside that's what I'm talking about right there it's on a busy highway let's push couple of buttons and see what happens it is not on there's no power don't get your panties in a bunch I know we're all disappointed that there's no power but it is what it is what is down there cool old Cabinetry here's an old keyboard let's click some buttons very mechanical feeling the old style keyboard it's a Dell very rusted and straight ahead that is my next goal although it's not part of uh this building complex it's across the street looks like it's so let's go I have seen worse but look at this standing outside right now looking at the Asylum look at that y'all see that right there that is some major damage there's no way they're going to be able to save this place I don't think it's on the list to be saved but you know at least it's fun to think about all right where to next oh yeah that building it's more like an out building but let's go all right here we go um I'm just trying to get everybody familiar where I came from remember we already went through all of that pretty much pretty much and then we hit that which was the center like I said I'm not going to show you guys everything but I will go inside of here because this is one of the out buildings look at this uh looks like we have a couple of choices let's go upstairs first hopefully I don't fall through the floor cuz I can see that's probably going to happen hello something's making a noise back here let's go investigate got to check it out and see what it [Music] is what is that noise it's coming from in here wow oh the the water is dripping and hitting the floor very rapidly didn't sound like water at first actually sounded like a human being making a tapping noise it's a pretty nice looking room look at these old door handles on here and stuff very nice I like that touch some more out buildings probably nothing too crazy in there might check them out anyway look at the vines Isn't that cool I love Vines when they start taking over like that oh what is that it's a big old chimney stack over there I think that was actually the fireplace or part of it I see another tall building over there let's go take a look this what out of doubt my favorite time to explore I love January and all the snow and all the ice that you could slip on it's quite fantastic um I think in order to get to the other building we have to go probably around that way so let's do that uh what is this I think I might have found part of the tunnel system hello where does this lead to I'm going stick my camera down there and maybe y'all could see and figure it out uh I don't think it really go oh wait I think I do see another hatch down there where you can kind of Go in all right so I will tell you this much I don't think I'm going to be doing that on this episode maybe next episode if I got if I get enough likes on this video I might make another one and go down there all right what is this building all about I bet you any money this could have been a wreck Bild oh wait whoa well maybe I might have been right it's a theater this is kind of cool yeah this is a theater theer I want to say like a theater slash maybe rec room I don't know let's explore and check it out very slivery hopefully we don't fall through the freaking floor we don't want that it's pretty massive building for what it is oh look like we're going to get far in here though or can we I don't know this building looks really bad off I don't think I'm going to go through that I might fall through the floor we could probably go upstairs though a little bit let see what we can see up here hopefully it's something that's what the other side looks like look at that facade right there beautiful building good gracious I love it here this is is great gorgeous volunteer services that does not that does not look original at all all right uh where do we go from here nothing going on whoa y'all look at that there's a little operating table just sitting right there Chrome one too why did they throw it out the window were they upset look at this an old elevator old Elevator Shaft can we open it nope it is stuck and locked and it'll probably never open again here we go here's the theater standing from the second floor so not too much going on in this building just a of trash so my next main goal is to try to find the power plant for this place as you can see right now I am the Blue Dot and where I need to be at is right here so let's try to find that building CU I'm curious to see how big that power plant was that controlled all of this place for its electricity let's go here kind of caught my attention a little bit don't slip don't slip but why did it catch my attention probably because of this little table right here I thought it was like a stretcher but I don't think it is I think it's something else this is like a machine shop for the power plant this building's kind of cool wow jackpot this room is be this room is beautiful found an old wheelchair that's about it what I don't like is to see animal tracks like that so animals are out here and they are present oh that's the PowerHouse I'm curious to see what's inside see what's R running this big old monster but uh here it is there's no tur yes there is here's the turbines they look very dismantled but that is the turbine hall right there it's unfortunate but it's still cool to see that you know what I mean here this is where we just entered at which is not turbine Hall it is the Boiler House yeah this room's pretty cool look at this yeah this is all the big boilers and stuff oh this is awesome this is like very cinematic in here oh man this is great look they even had that kind of tool chart right there so no tools will go missing everything has a space everything has a place everything has a space what the H put old bus seat in here this is fantastic I love it oh this is great old Power Plant this is quite the uh spectacle here it looks like the I was going to say control room this looks like uh probably like a kitchen or something for the workers over here look at all these dials and everything and this is the two mini turbines that ran the facility they're right here inside of this control room how about that it looks like a control room and turbine Hall all in one here's the desk where you sleep at Yep this is the little mini turbine haul they're cute I like these sometimes you know the small ones are better than the big ones that's what she said giggity um I'm just kidding there's an old television set what is this the switch house back here yeah looks like an old switch house nothing too exciting don't get too excited this is the probably the best part of this building right here these little mini turbines very cute very cute I like it there's an old television set what is American Zone air pretty clever yeah this might have been the uh wash interior pretty sure Troy Minuteman do y'all see that it's like a wash tub for your clothes will it still start no it will not unfortunately American Cascade that's what's up this is beautiful I love this machine I don't want to leave but we have to oh well this is pretty these are two overgrown bathtubs look like somebody sprayed p with graffiti and of course Christmas trees this would been a nice Christmas nice tree set up you know what I'm saying look at that that is cool I love that looks like you can kind of raise these things oh wait this is the get out yeah I think it probably opened at one point but they no longer open yeah some kind of hydrotherapy tub going on right there hydrotherapy tub this building is loaded with these things huh wow see the patients used to get in right here and they used to look out the window as they were bathing very cool very cool here's another part of the stairs this building has a little this building has a little curvature to it I see curves just a little bit where does this go though let go back to the main lobby I don't know I think it does I think that's the main lobby looks like somebody uncovered the floor beautiful yeah this is the front part of the building all right so I guess that's it say [Music] goodbye [Music]
