and curvy metal objects and various writing utensils from the earlier shot of the coffee table are here now which one of these stars on the TV well it's likely not the one that has the [ __ ] fan controls on it and unless it has a solo function it probably isn't the one with a single button that only leaves this vague remote that clearly operates a DVD player and this one over here which is the only one that actually looks like a damn TV remote I know we don't have a movie unless he's confused about remotes but did anybody stop to wonder if that maybe wouldn't have been such a bad thing I take it back if this is actually the remote for a toy car this world is clearly batched insane and poor Michael doesn't have a chance of picking the right one I mean unless that RC car has a built-in DVD player let's examine this drawing table here on the left which is tilted so far I'm not sure how the coffee cup or the container of utensils haven't slid off already well whoop-dee-doo video doils feeling so big you start dropping deep cut references to your older movies just because you can yeah Dad it's kind of been halfway done for two months now two months give your dad a [ __ ] break kid you're lucky you're getting a tree house at all this movie wants you to take as partial evidence of him being a bad father that he has not finished a rad [ __ ] looking treehouse in the last two months these are some entitled ass kids something you should know about for another 10 to 30 years 10 for you 30 for you that's sexist can I go to the bathroom go to the bathroom I told you you don't have to ask me movie Perfectly captures my Elementary School experience Rob Schneider as a middle eastern Prince that's a yikes for me I made no disrespect Prince able Michael is supposed to be a whiz at closing these deals so I find it hard to believe he would be rude or incompetent enough to [ __ ] up this guy's name this means the movie is deliberately making Michael temporarily rude or incompetent for the sake of this borderline racist joke of course this office of [ __ ] has a bowl of apples at the ready just in case their [ __ ] already needs further justification I hope that hm idea didn't take too long to configure Michael Oh They'll be out of the dunes in my life sir well that wasted time was really on him isn't it who designed something as niche as a bar with a [ __ ] Atrium unless it's something specifically asked for by the client these guys are Japanese they can't wait for their fish to cook this movie is a yikes Burger so far so here's the swim meet the sun is competing in that datum Sandler is now missing and the movie will make this more evidence that he's a bad father when in reality sometimes adults have to do work to pay for the house and the food and the TV and the toys and it's okay for parents to miss an athletic game now and then or recital Jesus I frequently had Little League games where none of my family was there and it didn't make me grow up into a bitter judgmental [ __ ] slow down it's not a race it's a second one in five minutes maybe an adult who cares for him to intervene no Sandler gets so angry at the firecracker teens he races after them and flips over the fence in Pursuit and then we just cut to his house with his wife walking down the stairs and the story about him chasing the teens to beat them up is just forgotten no back to bed back to bed they're still fully clothed and playing there's no way they were already in bed damn movie doesn't know how to pair it but judging by the caliber of the humor it barely knows how to human I've watched this documentary on Asian architecture yeah pounding back to NyQuil will definitely help you watch a movie in full and coherently also true story one time my roommates and I were about to move to a new house there were five of us and I had kind of a cold the night before so I took a healthy dose of NyQuil and went to bed only for my four other roommates to decide around 10 pm that would be super cool if we moved right then instead of waiting until morning so due to peer pressure and sheer noise I get up pack and load the [ __ ] truck and around 5 a.m we stop at a highway train breakfast bar swing a bunch of grease and then we go to the new house to unpack for the next six hours it was the worst of giving this unrelated movie 20 sins for that experience just pretend gently made making me think about it every choice I make everything I do I disappoint somebody take note only narcissists talk like this I'm not out drinking or gambling or hitting on chicks I'm working my ass off I mean if you set the bar that low you can get away with all sorts of things I'm not punching puppies or kicking orphans I just ran over the neighbor's hamster get off my back hey for the last time how does this look anything like it controls a goddamn television he is an architect in the movies yelling at God only guarantees he will start [ __ ] with you in real life well I'm still collecting evidence you want me to open the garage for you but why would the ceiling fan remote ever be in the garage the entire conceit of this movie rests on the brand name Bed Bath and Beyond so the brand gets product placement but also plot placement all of her store that's main claim to fame is selling you the same as Target but for a 30 markup in prices watch now as the protagonist is entirely unfairs by a long dark hallway since he chose this door and it's what the plot wanted none of this frightens him at all something stinks like stale french fries we'll give you manages to predict its own reviews and then include them in the script name anyways call me Morty in my head can and this is actually a grown-up version of Morty from Rick and Morty and that a crazy scientist mixed with the angel of death is just the path he landed on post whatever interdimensional slug Dragon finally killed Rick once and for all the fact that this takes place seven years before Rick and mortier just really goes to submit that idea I'm honestly not sure if I should be looking out for Indiana Jones or Harry Potter but I do know there's a horcrux in here shaped like the Holy Grail needs an organizational system of some sort and if they don't why bother with this really new stuff label this movie is like Bruce Almighty only instead of God it's a warehouse guy and instead of being Morgan Freeman that's Christopher Walken just point why are you doing this then because I just need a break every once in a while what is it about Michael that has presented him as a good guy sure he works hard but in the last 15 minutes all we've seen him do is neglect his family abuse the neighbor's kid and threaten to assault a random member of the public the reason he eventually becomes a nice guy is that Morty here goes to Christmas Futures him into being one it's entirely self-serving if he sees a future where he's a dick and still gets a Wonderful Life pun intended there's no way he chooses to change a goddamn thing I'm just saying why not give this opportunity to someone who genuinely is a nice person but is in such a [ __ ] up situation that they have no choice but to be an [ __ ] to survive I was going to send the ridiculously convenient fact that Michael doesn't make eye contact with his wife for this entire speech thankfully I can still sin it for the even more ludicrous idea that he looks at her for several seconds and still doesn't realize she's Frozen in Time up with the yodel so you're going to wake up 400 pounds one day I find that foreshadowing is far more effective when it's subtle rather than yodeling it for all to hear rooting for the Jets he gets so mad at The Barking Dog that he picks up the gift fake remote control and pretends to turn down the dog's bark volume only at works because the remote control is Magic and I hate this movie this remote control I hate you I hate me I hate to bangle you just ate and they're not winning he discovers his remote actually controls his real life and in a fit of Joy he drops the remote and runs upstairs good morning Michael you're looking very crappy today what is with this era of rom-coms where there has to be a best friend that acts like a complete [ __ ] to the boyfriend girlfriend you've already cheated on three different husbands with their brothers I think you've given enough juice to everybody love you explaining your jokes see that was a concise way of pointing out that what the movie is doing here isn't funny and it's totally unnecessary that follow-up explanation was the joke look at all those [ __ ] lemons this is a family of [ __ ] I forgot they have two maybe three kids all right there are seven lemons visible from this angle alone when life gives you this many elevens are those [ __ ] artichokes someday some I'll be living in a big old city and you can bark in over six different languages [Music] human dog very nice this thing is worth more than your car not anymore today three cheers for your protagonist everybody also so far the only reason we've been given for him hating the o'doyle's is because they had a universal remote and also Billy Madison happened that's literally it no one in the so Doyle family has done anything to warn any hate or toy destruction or any of that [ __ ] okay some sort of reality show are you the host I can understand trying to rationalize the crazy [ __ ] he's just seen but how the [ __ ] with this being a reality TV show explain any of the said crazy [ __ ] he literally just brought a picture-in-picture in his damn kitchen click it click it how did Michael even know he was picking commentary we don't see him scroll down and it doesn't seem to be any sort of motion controlled cursor yes the practicality of the magical menu for the DVD of his life is the thing I find most ridiculous Alice had brought him a cheeseburger Burger instead of a hamburger as he requested cheeseburger I said a hamburger okay they even make a whole joke about how James Earl Jones is doing the DVD commentary on this dude's life but this is not a commentary this is describing the film's events just before they happen hell a commentary is a lot more interesting when it's the people involved making the film that are reacting to it rather than a voice actor hired to narrate the movie also what a dick this guy is the floor is so mushy and slippery feels good in my feet complimenting your mother's birth canal what do you mean might be what is that maybe that's a penis this might be the most casually bigoted movie of the Arts I agree with you Michael whoa sud nud candy Fonzie what the [ __ ] did they do to Henry Winkler this de-aging makeup is so terrifying they might as well have had a half-eaten raccoon leg hanging out of his mouth just look at that face especially the mouth Henry cavill's Justice League upper lip is laughing at this here okay so they are camping and they have on the dinner table Mount Olive bread and butter pickles apples Tomatoes an onion and a zucchini half a loaf of sliced white bread and a head of lettuce and some unpeeled carrots just exactly what the [ __ ] are they eating tonight raw veggie sandwiches okay wait where did that Twinkie come from who keeps an emergency Twinkie in their pocket why don't I have an emergency Twinkie in my pocket excuse me I'm sorry to interrupt but um this is kind of important well he has time for this recurring Alice is too scared to pee running gag that wasn't funny the first time and won't be any funnier the 100th time despite Morty warning Michael it's a very powerful device is it with caution his very next action is to freeze and move a child so that they are hit with a baseball this is both creepy and irresponsible why are we rooting for him again so instead he fast forwards through the entire evening but this doesn't save him any time it just proves that he's a jerk that can't put up with the inconveniences of hanging out with his family for an evening also why didn't he just pause his life and go do his model and then unpause and have dinner with his family is this kid doing flying down the stairs if the next fast forward button doesn't show them all driving to the damn emergency room to fix this kid's broken legs I'm calling [ __ ] scene is basically like that episode from Star Trek the Next Generation for the Enterprise and that Romulan ship or frozen time and Picard Jordy and data and Troy have to walk around all their Frozen crewmates to work out what the [ __ ] happened and prevent a warp core breach what is a random episode from season 7 of Star Trek the Next Generation have to do with this movie well nothing I just really love that episode and thinking about it was a welcome albeit brief respite from the Mind numbing disappointment that is this movie [Music] in a list of sexy turn-on phrases this one ranks just below I think I forgot to set my VCR to tape 90 Day Fiance and just above that chicken was bad by a day or two but I ate it anyway I'll show you yeah whoa whoa whoa what's this rewind business I thought he just had to think of a moment in the past and then he appears there after clicking the button they're actually rewinding time here so when things get [ __ ] up later why can't he just rewind time and give it another shot your wife yeah absolutely gorgeous what's got to her showing a lot of skin at a family dinner just to drive the point home wait the little Doyle kid is here eating dinner he just ran home screaming for mommy last scene Santa's character hates these kids unfortunately scraping the bottom of the barrel wasn't quite good enough for this movie so they decided to dig through the bottom and kept going until they hit the Earth's core were a portal to the Multiverse opens up and they manage to find an alternate Earth whose people have managed to genetically engineer a barrel with even more offensive depth to retrieve their humor from getting sick man fast forward me feeling better the remote that controls his life also takes voice commands that's brand new information in this shot the bacon was over here but in the very next shot it looks like someone has spun this plate 90 degrees for no reason I like to think there's a better movie out there that shows someone else with a click remote that's [ __ ] with Michael to make his life worse the bacon move is just the warm-up stuff you know like the ghost that inexplicably choose to haunt people by slamming doors for some reason traffic traffic no more traffic okay there are definitely some relatable examples of times it would be cool to have one of these remotes like skipping the daily and yes the irony that I'm sending something that I would quite like to have now so that I could fast forward through the experience of watching this movie in so much detail it's not lost on me at all he speeds up traffic and slows down for bouncing boobies and he is your protagonist so you better find something to like about him he uses the remote's color adjustment to make himself seem less pale but that is just a huge can of worms I don't think the movie is ready to wrestle with I mean it sure does look like Sandler's having a lot of fun here I just wish he'd found a way to Loop Us in as well very impressive Michael I'm confused he had to finish the big model by the next day we saw him working on it then he talked to Morty to get more Exposition about how the remote works and realized he was getting sick and fast forwarded an entire coal that's days now he shows up at work and presents the boss with a small poster anyone can be a victim of sexual harassment a woman a man even the office [ __ ] I think it takes a special level of ignorance to play off a sexual harassment seminar for laughs and a movie filled with extremely offensive gender-based stereotypes it's moments like this that make the oh it was a different time excuse sound [ __ ] ridiculous a that different time was 2006 not 1986 and B if you're aware enough to make this guy look like a jerk in this scene you're smart enough to know that you're being offensive in the rest of the movie This remote is not consistent just minutes ago he used the color setting to change his own skin now he changes the picture to wide in Panorama and only his boss changes in size or shape and nothing happens to Michael or anyone anything else in the entire room then we can get out of here and do jello shots at America's greatest cultural achievement TGI Fridays the problem with this joke is that it isn't quite far enough from the truth to be considered parody or satire he uses the remote to eavesdrop on the Japanese guys by translating their conversation which fine but they are way across the room you guys deserve the best and that's what you're gonna get from now on okay premature recycle rationing everyone was asleep in bed even his wife and now he's sending the kids out to ride their bikes at what one in the morning no no no no you got more how many sliding glass patio doors does one house need why are you always trying to hurt me one day I'm gonna hurt you back one day you've already trashed the [ __ ] out of his robot dog and given him a concussion by a baseball I mean one of the kid turns into a discount Joker or whatever the Gotham writers wanted him to be but couldn't for some reason he gets the O'Doyle kid in trouble by lying and man did you not punish that family enough in Billy Madison when you literally had them all drive off a bridge in a station wagon she prefers to be called Alan now remember holy sh this movie couldn't be made today I mean unless it was directed by Mel Gibson and starred Scott Baio autopilot you're more like Auto Zombie good one Donna no therapist would ever act like this who is this big mouth why can't you and I just talk also perpetuating the marriage counseling equates to failure what the heck happened I didn't even touch the remote I can't tell you how little I care my man yes Michael is a piece of [ __ ] but Morty is acting like Michael had all the facts when he chose to skip the things he skipped Morty has been deliberately vague knowing that Michael would [ __ ] everything up my question is when does another Angel come in and do the same thing to Morty to make him reevaluate his life choices this I know is none returnable yes but you didn't tell them all the awful side effects at the time so I feel like you could be taken Accord for an illegal contract I can't give you a kiss because I might give you a kiss it might lead to something else and then zip another three minutes goes by he feels like this kind of Rapid gibberish is better than simply telling his wife the truth which he could easily prove great oh easily could he prove it he could stop time and keep doing impossible magic tricks to prove it and then she'd understand if you sneak around into a downtown office building you can bet your ass you will be sought and detained I speak from experience from that time I tried to run off the ABC office building stairs with a save cop rock shirt on Michael is sneaking around presumably so that nobody sees him in his bathrobe but how does he expect to get away with that for the entire day and or rest of his life oh my God I'm a fat guy Michael doesn't realize until he gets to the mirror that he's carrying an extra 200 pounds of human around with him also it's almost as if after a decade of making movies the people at Happy Madison wondered how many demographics they could belittle and have a laugh at the expense of in one feature while still making a ton of money this movie grows 237 million in 2006 and made another 90 million in home video sales in the US Alone Michael Jackson the first man to close himself is n't it somebody was paid to write this then they took it to their boss and said hey hey read this I think it's hilarious and then that guy said my goodness this is fantastic satire let's put it in the movie so that millions of people can see it and appreciate it it's brilliant and then everyone went home happy for upon that day a great thing was done by all thank you God you're enormous Jonah Hill is overweight jokes it's unreal how much of this there was in the early 2000s 10 years you're not finished yet Michael is beating himself up for not finishing the tree house but at this point isn't that on Bill this guy man I hope he doesn't learn a lesson I hope he just keeps getting suddenly older and more bitter he's a dick tough not to see this as a joke about fat people but whatever what's the point of a closed door meeting at the office's wall panels or I'll turn to kind of obviously open a bit Blondie pig lips chesty is that your girl no that's your daughter Samantha yay incest jokes that's my Happy Madison bingo card complete I'm not see ya stupid piece of garbage I can't believe it came out 2006 somebody paid Millions to make this movie instead of a second season of firefly it's amazing to me how many movies think that the Natural Evolution of Technology translates to hey let's make simple more complicated by adding extra steps that look fancy like the same water dispenser here would you mind looking at my uh my shopping mall design again shopping mall this movie about Architects really thought new shopping malls were going to be created Forever and Always and it's kind of adorable don't you want to know how you do the stupid trick I've always known can you let me do my work this takes place during the chunk of time the remote skipped which means that Michael should be on autopilot right now why is Michael's autopilot so mean death what in the ever loving is the angel of God damn death doing [ __ ] around with one man's life in the hopes of making him a better person where does that appear in the angel of death job description Ben Ben I didn't miss my son's wedding he says this just acclimating to my surrounding [ __ ] like this all movie long and no one ever calls him on it okay guys here's my big moment as unnamed wedding guest I'm so pumped that I got to be an extra in the new Adam Sandler put that bridge in the way you look amazing she does but have you seen bumblebee Crazy Eight hat lady over here am I supposed to be happy that a 50 year old Michael is panting bill bill seems like a great guy sure seems to be doing a better job as husband and father than Michael did I mean except for that tree house of course you are fast forwarding through your life long before you ever met me deflecting the blame I have two fathers click him running after his son goes on for all the sometime this almost feels like it's going for a Truman Show style heart-wrenching ending but it 100 misses likely because we're actually rooting for Truman whereas Michael is kind of getting everything he deserves Michael wakes up from his remote control dream that happened but actually didn't and realizes he needs to stop working so hard and be with his family much like Kevin Lomax did and The Devil's Advocate and while this movie shows that's exactly what he intends to do he'll probably become again the moment life gets boring again and then somebody will morph into Al Pacino before painted black starts playing we can't play it but there's definitely a comedy in the Arts ends with a U2 song cliche just for good measure for the second time in this movie he's waking his family up but this time the Bed Bath and Beyond was still open so what time does Michael's family go to bed then he sends them back to bed to get rest for tomorrow's camping trip the scene works for a movie but if you've ever been around toddlers for more than a couple of days you do not wake them up on purpose when they are already sleeping and who wants to have a pillow fight Michael Pat's is [ __ ] then asks his kids who he is now waking for a second time if they want a pillow fight instead of letting them sleep and satisfying his wife as promised it's like they had no idea how to finish the movie so they just pulled out the Happy Madison edition of Mad Libs and filled in the blank holy [ __ ] that's how they wrote the whole movie isn't it [Applause] just remember right arm out head turns left left arm out everything it's not a malfunction it's a feature it's using its mag secured your preferences once again things that could have been brought to my attention yesterday why did you do this to me God didn't do that you did it well I have a microphone and you don't so you will listen to every damn word I have to say I'm taking the dog dumbass jump It's Marvin your cousin Marvin Perry I wonder if there's a real woman under those overalls or just a robot I want you to decide what's right for me
