[Music] in case you forgot we're playing a batman game here's some bats for you i like how the bats seem more afraid of bruce having what was his greatest fear conquered and fearing him now gore gets kind of scary and kind of villainy kind of like how the people when the criminals don't understand the batman and him coming out is bad for everyone police and emergency services are urging gotham residents to stay off the roads and in their homes tonight there's your quick explanation on why gotham is vacant for this game you can't expect me to believe that gotham's most eligible bachelor is spending another christmas alone you just ran out of time he won't be spending it alone he's about to meet the love of his life just a quick reminder batman's parents are dead in case you forgot repeat so the art style on the physical body shapes of most characters are exaggerated broader shoulders thicker thighs etc i like to take this as everyone in their youth is overcompensating and realize later they don't gotta be yolked like that neat little detail of bruce's face lining up with the suit bruce is angry he's not calm and collected like in all the other games he's still in his infancy and we see it on full display right here you do realize it is christmas eve batman and joker meet each other on christmas i was going to make some sort of reference to them being some weird allegory for jesus christ but even i can only reach so far so they're each other's christmas present to each other looks like black mask entered the prison here i need to find commissioner loeb before it's too late roger craig smith has some big shoes to fill coming in to voice younger batman and what the heck how did he do such a perfect job he sounds exactly how a younger more angsty batman and bruce would sound he's got a lot more bite and growl in his voice compared to the older calmer and more methodical batman kevin conroy plays i heard the rumors but you you're not supposed to be it's a lot of fun getting to see the early days where people don't understand what batman is and everyone fears him this may be a spin-off but the combat is still just as buttery smooth as it's always been my own man and slammer i know more i like that black mask is front and center for most of the first act makes the joker reveal even better i know i caught yours i don't think croc is ever going to emotionally recover from that a little shot win i want teeth i want answer i know the older batman makes these same threats but his voice and his eyes lend to a completely different mindset as he's threatening people oh i pity his cellmate alfred's always got jokes no matter what incarnation he's in his obsession is going to be his end how unlike anyone i know not only the jokes he's also got the sly digs calls himself electrocutioner shocking not only the sly digs but the puns too alfred will always be a win to anyone thinking bane figuring out batman's identity is weird we got our explanation right here a big ol 187 iq with a photographic memory yeah that should be enough to discern two chins in relation to each other he uses torture for intimidation and entertainment well you use torture too at least you don't enjoy it so uh that meant being one step away from being the best worst bad guy ever and isn't uh that's not the best win but i'm taking it black mask isn't messing around this whole assassin's intro was pretty freaking cool and a quick and easy way to get us up to speed with all of these villains i enjoy alfred cutting bruce off here shows how close their working relationship is and the trust and respect they share let's just toss on 10 wins sean for all the cool little detective minigames think of me as a great big mystery one you're never going to solve enigma then who knew batman would be the one to give riddler one of his names oh probably everyone well uh not me and i thought it was cool don't overthink it too much sir alfred if i don't get to jezebel plaza before that arms deal i'll have no way to locate the penguin it's neat seeing arkham city before it was arkham city but penguins hard to find okay that's some pretty cool lighting on batman's face right there i swear batman accidentally chokes out this guy generally this isn't the case for the older batman so showing us his overzealous anger and not telling let me go if you insist very poor choice of words if i was a master in combat like batman with a belt to make my dad jealous if you know what i mean then i just dropped down in this fight ring too [Music] introducing the most important character to this story's game or rather his gloves seriously saves alfred and games that held up joker at the end dude gets a win we just take a second to acknowledge how hard the score goes for this game sometimes i mean it's christopher drake who also did the dark knight returns so what else would i expect it's fun that shocker is treated like the c-lister he really is slate's grappling gun makes the same sound as batman's it's like he's a baby copycat version of him it appears the game is over before it even begins i'm not playing games i don't know bats you walked in a circle with him like you were waiting for the announcer to say round one fight this has got to be one of my favorite boss fights in the entire series it feels like a lightsaber duel fists the way he is animated and doesn't always just get hit by you and counter attacks it's really so much fun i always gotta win the sauce what are you i'm batman but a little angrier than normal alfred get gcpd to take a look at the final offer more to dixon docks they'll find slade wilson tied up and waiting for them learning from your mistakes with letting shocker get away i mean i don't remember you tying them up but i'll give it to you rubio what's your 20 on the balcony for a smoke with a menace who is he up there with spider-man the shallow trajectory of the bullet suggests the shooter could be someone of penguin's height again these detective sequences are super cool and getting to hear batman talk through everything makes it all even better who is the joker your new bff that's what i'm talking about let's just throw in like 15 wins for the fact that the cryptographic sequencer always has some apt passcode for the locations it's in he is the worst kind of criminal the kind who thinks their actions are justified who acts completely outside the system system is broken this story is anything new for most batman fans but for people like me that don't read the comics it's really interesting to watch the birth of this legend and how he wasn't accepted right away by everyone but you'll need to physically bridge the internet to the external telecom wires if you want to uplink remotely this kind of knowledge could get a young girl into a lot of trouble oh it does eventually and unbeknownst to both of them this was a perfect interview barbara just went on why do you do what you do because i made a promise such a sweet succinct way to explain why he's batman i mean it doesn't mean anything to barbara but means everything to us sorry for hacking into your calm surprised he didn't just hire her right there compliments boys the martial art guys are just fun little baby deathstrokes by now gotham pd thinks roman cyanus is dead the casualty of a turf war murdered by the penguin but i know better of course you do this is also another track that just goes so damn hard giving himself the element of surprise but it wasn't enough shame that the birth of jesus christ is what made cyanus lose this fight there was a fight this is lost listening to batman be the greatest detective has got to be on the list of someone's not naming whose turnouts the joker those quick white lions are nice and angular just like the joker's real face and now i know where he's going next gotham merchants bank love the way this track resolves you are very cordially cordially cordially you are very cordially invited to a party even batman gets treated by some carolers on christmas hope that you can come to sharing all the joy and it's so nice of little angry trust fun boy to let them finish their song and dance it's midnight i just wanted to wish you a merry christmas you too alfred's so sweet buddies everywhere predator level subversion kinda we get it later but for this moment yes gotta give it to batman for just yoloing so many situations in this game the joker [Music] that subtle shift of brian bloom's black mask to troy baker's joker was can't tell if bloom did his best joker impression or if baker blended bloom's mask with his joker either way i love it how about you doll no the joker okay now that is definitely bloom speaking with joker speech patterns you son of a [ __ ] you think you can steal from me yeah worst part about smilex is that i feel that emotionally you are still all there but you can't stop laughing so it's like basically being tickled to death no one likes being tickled so when she says you're insane on the inside she's probably still freaking out i might be wrong and i don't care if i am because this headcanon scares me more i don't know how he fit that big ass head in that helmet but uh good on him for doing it like i always remind you guys i stay away from marketing so when this reveal happened my 14 year old ass browned his pants how silly that i thought an arkham game wouldn't have the joker be at the core of the story you've been running cyonus's operation and again this arrangement of carol of the bells smacks the score um well technically it's my operation now and how rude it'd be to not commend troy baker's younger joker it's definitely an impression just like roger cracksmith but i'm sure that's exactly what eric holmes and benoit richard wanted with the performance and it's not exact it sounds like a little baby joker which i love isn't that right boys love that joker's men just have masks up their ass ready for the reveal oh life would be so simple if you were all i wanted well damn your life is about to become a game of pong you hear that sounds like eight tiny reindeer how dare you respect our man rudolph that's not horrifying at all it's been long enough let's just throw in a few wins for all the predator sequences they have always been a blast to play through in all the games and here is no exception killed about a quarter of black masked men when they wouldn't take orders from so what i'm hearing is that the joker is only on half the level of thanos shouldn't you think about letting the police handle this one not a chance these two got very personal real quick i have isolated the electromagnetic signal on electrocutions gloves chekhov's shocker gloves super cool running through the steel mill before it gets all jokerified and this is the same room when joker does the old fake joker gag batman from arkham city i can control your pacemaker that's actually really horrifying copperhead has got a really unique snake like fighting style to her fitting what would your father say if he could see you now you could have saved me if it only comes sooner how many more must perish before you realize you know savior you're a curse upon this city for all this rough and temple exterior let us not forget he's still a man all the assassin boss fights stay pretty varied on what you've got to do to beat them for the most part i can tell you the location you already did don't forget how large brian batman is friends assassins welcome to our first quarterly performance review oh wow i forgot to win how spot on joker's black mask impression is as you can see here batman deaths are coming in far below projections that graph is so stupid and funny of course shocker is playing games little detail of his gloves pulsing as he flies out the window and neat neat that we get connected to where the joker is through the murder of this man look at deadshot and shiva being socially distant good on them wait let's not forget how out of his mind the joker is what is this so silly and fun that the joker got a whole ass carnival set up in this hotel and these are all some fun little twisted versions of real carnival games [Laughter] oh you just couldn't wait till new year's huh why the crypto sequencer doesn't work here in humbles batman because damn was this game using it so much this is vicki vale uh of course it is this is a super cool creative angle to take this fight from damn pain is scary remember you gave your word you have one minute the joker pretty much saves batman here [Music] a little nightfall reference for you bane wants the explosion so that's how we know he's not cool why why would you do that returning the favor don't move freak i think he's talking to you i was wondering the same thing myself and the beautiful relationship i've been droning on about all video is born bad day huh harleen is wearing red heels and shirt because you know harley colors there's nothing so cruel as memory oh does that one hit hard joker isn't an idiot he understands things on a real level and then you meet someone who changes your life and you feel that you don't even know who you are anymore isn't it funny how one little encounter can cleave off little pieces of your past and again he really is speaking some cold facts here about life sure the way it changes him isn't for the better but i know people that i've met that have changed me for the better rest in peace g [Music] okay one more and i need you to be serious for this one okay sounds like the joker's spitting some game well ace chemicals backstory confirmed it's like meeting someone i can actually relate to i mean y'all two sides the same coin free falling and i didn't pack a shoot god they have such a weird dynamic i mean listen to the love music that's playing [Music] i don't have a lot of friends you got one now oh damn smooth operator can i get some tips don't get it twisted the joker left just as much of an impact on bats it's not a batman story without bruce boohooing over his dead parents i mean i get it that sucks but you know what i mean i've run some tests on the compound you found at the steel mill looks like a match for your globular projectile for non-lethal restraint you mean the glue grenade didn't expect this version of batman to be the practical one with how serious he's been all game you're in over your head and i i don't want this to be your end i can only imagine what alfred is going through watching your son walk out and risk his life every night when he in all reality doesn't have to i am when the mugger or the thief stops to think twice that is fear that is what i am that is why they hired assassins because i am the reason the criminals breathe easier when the sun rises so no alfred i am not in over my head this is a perfect way for these two to leave each other before the next time they see each other which is alfred dying both believe that they are saying the rant things though neither could truly understand the other in this moment some of this impact is taken away because alfred apologizes before he dies but let's just ignore that but this is also a perfect peak for douchey batman because he now is bullying and lashing out the one person who truly cares for him right now i'm sorry about what i said before you left i hope you understand i wish this moment didn't happen makes the fake out death hit less hard but it's a nice moment still that they share okay so this is just a freeze grenade but like maybe the frozen grenade is just better and we know he doesn't pack his whole belt so it's fine the victim was using a powerful compound with many similarities to the street drug venom at the time of his death it changes the user's muscle and bone structure greatly enhancing strength for a temporary period titan shadowing prolonged use could seriously compromise the user's memory don't forget that little tidbit like i mentioned earlier this makes sense given bane's context alfred bane knows who i am you're not safe at wayne manor got it i'll call the police no i can't risk them discovering my identity as well even now with alfred and danger he's being selfish there's no reason he should believe bane won't find the bat cave you may be wondering why is that a win i like winning poignant parts of a character arc whether it's them growing showing how stagnant they are or just highlighting that they've got more work to do on themselves he's a cop party hey we got dent here before it all goes bad i promise then i promise you a good night's sleep hey hey look at batman always keeping his promises there's something so badass about him planting his feet holding firefly like this [Music] looks like relying on people is not so bad is it batman i should have gotten to that last bomb yeah and i should have given you access to that security door oh look at them growing up we covered it pretty well hey it's batman's first little disappear trick you can really hear the fear in bruce's voice here bravo roger craig smith and it's also not a state we see batman in very often don't add me to the weight you carry i think i might be crying just in case somebody didn't know how important alfred is to bruce alfred lives i mean of course he does but bruce thinking he lost alfred is really important for his growth bang did him a solid i guess you are a man not an island there's your thesis for the game strength comes from his allies they need us say what you will about this game but you can't say they didn't have a goal with this story that wasn't well realized are you okay what's it to you makes sense that harleen wouldn't like batman as she's on the receiving end of his beatings and already has a soft spot for them you won't have to worry about that anymore not unless someone else puts up 50 million bucks i like that slade is just in it for the money and not some crazo like joker or bane what our friend fame holds in his hand is a heart monitor once he clamps it on every so either you kill bay no you won't kill him but you will you will fight me with all your resolve or you will die someone is going to die you me or the clown that's a really fun quandary to post batman with and thank god shocker died because this would have taken an even bigger brain to get out of you won't make it you don't need to damn joker's hand-to-hand combat always surprises me when he's not up against batman kill you again but it's not just his gloves it's also his dumb ass hubris that helps save batman's integrity [Music] he's got my gun that's what you're worried about right now or just warning everyone that he's got one i guess again you know i gotta win the sauce nerves of steel you fight well and their arc comes to a head when they are finally fighting together bane's still alive now that's not funny good thing because then you would have lost all purpose so we wouldn't have you joker we both exist because of that a very true statement and the way he says it kind of sounds like a plea for them to be on the same side or at least come to a greater understanding this is going to be fun he looks into the camera to tell us that all their future escapades are going to be fun i mean they tried to peak our interest in a suicide squad game so i got to give them some props i remember when this game came out back in 2013 and boy was it controversial yes it only exists to fill up time between arkham city and arkham knight but i don't see the need to be upset about that fact especially eight years later it's much easier to decide whether or not you want to buy it or not now and just move on instead of wasting our breath complaining about it it's not like the creation of this game stole resources from rocksteady since origins was developed by warner brothers montreal sure they got some help from them but doubtful enough to harm the already long production of arkham knight now there's just more story and gameplay to go around and i can only see that as a good thing especially because it doesn't hurt anybody and if you're patient you can grab this for like five bucks on the same store so for five bucks you get to see a pre arkham city and see a lot of our characters younger versions i see that as an absolute win especially the latter because watching a young angry baby bruce was really cool to see we were so used to the calm collected batman at the time from city and asylum and roger craig smith absolutely nails the roll out of the park one of his biggest previous roles being ezio at multiple stages in his life and then batman i wrote that before looking at his body at work this man is a workhorse constantly doing project after project i'm amazed more people don't talk about it or maybe they do and i'm just out of touch with everything as usual at any rate i almost kind of preferred his batman over kevin conroy's i know kill me in the comments but for real he really does a good job along with that we got the prolific troy baker whom everyone seems to know and shits brick over for good reason man has got some range doing texan joel and the joker like those are complete opposites and actually killing the performance as a joker oh hell yeah i don't like it more than hammels but of course that's just more opinions for so long this was my favorite christmas game miles morales took that slot very recently that's besides the point though there's something cozy about this game i don't know if it's because we're returning to arkham city and we already know it or that everything's gonna be okay by the end of the game or that it's just set at christmas time and that time has always been happy for me playing through this game again for the video was just nice maybe i'm being overly nice to origins because i love the arkham games and this is my first one i've played in five years but i don't think so i remember enjoying the game back when it came out and enjoying it now yes the game reused so many assets straight down to the rip-off of the freeze grenade and reusing a strip down arkham city yeah but there was really no other way this game could have been created in the time span it was without reusing those assets and people screamed cash grab and i won't continue to play ignorant because i can only do that stuff for so long yes it was warner bros didn't want such a long hiatus so we got this my biggest defense of origins is the care that went into the story and cut scenes everything else is just copy and paste move on but there's a level of direction and quality among the writing that deserves more recognition the writing and the cutscenes they were a bit jarring since they were pre-rendered but that allowed them to be super duper cinematic with them the two that come to mind of the swooping camera when the joker blows up a building in the shot of batman crouching under the explosive tanker both could have been done in engine with higher quality meshes like the rest of arkham series but it made it feel more distinct here i'm someone who's always enjoyed cutscenes and games so each one here felt like a carefully crafted treat and my favorite aspect of these is the cinematography the dp didn't need to go so hard with some of these shots but did anyway alongside that is the story which is literally an origin story of batman and the joker i mean it's in the [ __ ] title i still really enjoyed it did we need it of course not but are we better off having it some will say no but i'd say yeah especially because the joker didn't really have any interest in batman at the start which i didn't know it wasn't until he saved him that he became interested in trying to make batman break his one rule joker's monologue was a big highlight of the game just him explaining his love for batman while manipulating harleen at the same time i don't know i think it's wonderfully done the writers did care about the story they were telling and not just the writers but throughout the game i kept telling myself yes this was a cast grab but it still felt like they cared while making it which is really important in any art form and i don't even want to stop there and whatever you do you gotta care about it otherwise just stop for your sake and everyone else's it's why we find so many unhappy people these days forcing themselves to do things they don't care about now i know i'm not spouting wisdom i think most people know and understand this but i think the thing that gets missed sometimes though is recognizing when someone else does actually care someone could be straight cheeks at something or make a product that's not great or up to your standard but as long as the person creating cared about what they made it didn't hurt anybody along the way i don't see the harm in that just let people create what they want now i can already hear the arguments sure this game is created by people that cared but what if it sets a bad precedent in the gaming industry with cash crap games all i gotta say to that is vote with your wallet people [ __ ] and moan about so much nowadays not understanding that most of this world is run on money and when that stops flowing then change does actually happen now that i'm off that tangent i really like arkham origins and think it's a worthy game of the arkham title this is the worst one without a doubt we all got a sibling or a child we like the least doesn't mean you don't love him you know that's a somewhat bad analogy but i don't care if you hate this game and still hate it after watching to this point in the video then uh try playing it one more time and if that doesn't change your mind well we don't all have to like the same things if you watch at this point leave a funny comment and reply to someone who got upset that i knowingly called electrocution or shocker the whole time just a harmless experiment to see how many people will get
