EVERY SINGLE Member of Yoda's Species - Star Wars Canon and Legends

we've talked about yoda's species before on the channel especially after the mandalorian and the appearance of baby yoda however we have failed to discuss every single member of yoda's species and what made each of them force sensitive and uniquely powerful on the light side of the force specifically so today we will fix just that and we will be discussing every single member of yoda's species and canon as well as in legends continuity and explaining away or at least attempting to why each of them was exponentially more naturally gifted in the force than any other jedi and how each member of yoda's species was integral into the galactic events that were occurring at that period of time in star wars canon we know of three members of yoda's species we'll first start off with the grandmaster himself yoda yoda was obviously the first member of the species that we've been introduced to yoda was a powerful force-sensitive male and semmed from a mysterious species yoda was a legendary jedi master who witnessed the rise and fall of the galactic republic followed by the rise of the galactic empire small in stature but revered for his wisdom and power yoda trained generations of jedi ultimately serving as grand master of the jedi order having lived through 9 centuries of galactic history he played integral roles in the clone wars the rebirth of the jedi through luke skywalker and unlocking the path to immortality through the way of the jedi and the light side yoda was born in nearly 900 bby and yoda was almost 900 years old in the latter days of the republic a leading member of the jedi high council his contemporaries included other masters such as mace windu and kiari mundi over the next decade the galaxy was on the verge of civil war with entire star systems led by count dooku yoda's one-time padawan threatened to secede the republic and 22 bby unable to defend the entire republic on their own the jedi took command of a newly formed grand army of the republic with yoda himself leading an army of clone troopers against the separatist droid army of the confederacy of independent systems in battle during the clone wars as yoda directly took part in the first battle of the clone wars on geonosis for three years yoda led the republic's military war effort as a jedi general determined to bring a swift and decisive end to the conflict but his efforts were undermined by darth sidious the dark lord of the sith who himself conspired to destroy the jedi and restore the sith to power after the jedi purge commenced in 19 bby it killed thousands of jedi both on coruscant and across the galaxy yoda confronted the self-declared galactic emperor but failed to cut short sidious reign and consequently retreated into exile leaving the sith master to consolidate his power with a new apprentice the former anakin skywalker turned darth vader yoda's remaining years were spent living in isolation on the remote world of dagobah until anakin's son luke skywalker sought out the legendary grand master in hope of becoming a jedi knight himself a year later with his health rapidly declining yoda died of old age and became one with the force and 4 aby now on to the child that we see in the mandalorian or more popularly known as baby yoda the child was a male force sensitive mandalorian foundling that belonged to the same species as grandmaster yoda and jedi master yaddle the child was born around 41 bby and was held at the compound room by niko mercenaries on arvala 7 during the new republic era while still an infant at the age of 50 years old he was sought by an imperial who hired the mandalorian bounty hunter named dinjarin to retrieve him however din chose not to leave him with the imperials and saved him from the imperial remnant facility after attempting to hide with the child along the fringes of the galaxy din returned to navarro to deal with the imperials chasing the child in hopes of finally keeping him safe in the process the child became a mandalorian foundling and a member of dyn's newly created mandalorian clan now on to the final member that we know of yoda's species in canon jedi master yaddle yaddle was a force sensitive female being of the same species as grand master yoda and was a jedi master herself and member of the jedi high council during the last years of the galactic republic she trained at this bespian padawan oppo rancisis who eventually joined seattle on the high council by the time of the invasion of naboo or the events of the phantom menace thirty-two years before the battle of yavin qui-gon jinn brought the chosen one anakin skywalker to the jedi temple on coruscant where he met with yaddle and the other jedi elders after the battle of naboo yaddle took a less active role in jedi order affairs and was no longer on the high council by the time of the clone war during the rise of the galactic empire the sith lord darth vader encountered apparitions of several jedi including seattle while experiencing a series of forced vision thus ends every member of yoda's species that we know about in star wars canon now on to legends continuity minch was a short member of yoda's species who served in the jedi order as a knight of the galactic republic around 700 years prior to the battle of yavin making him older than yoda mitch was assigned by the jedi council along with his master on a mission with the group of jedi knights in the vespa system to find and suppress the destructive rampage of several dark jedi when minch boarded a commerce guild spaceship station in besvan's face minch managed to corner one of the dark jedi and engaged him in lightsaber combat minch however lost the duel just before the darksider killed himself at the sight of mitch's companions intent on proving himself in battle after this loss mitch then pursued the dark jedi's master to the planet of dagobah against the orders of his own jedi master minch then tracked the dark jedi to a cave where he fought and slew him which resulted in the cave becoming a place tainted with the malevolent energies of the dark side of the force it is actually believed that minch may have been a very young yoda and this was the original intent when the story was created however this was later retconned as the name minch was actually heavily featured in a lot of the source material for the original star wars for the name of yoda next we have jedi master oteg oteg was a revered jedi master and flea admiral who served the jedi order and the galactic republic during the great galactic war an ensuing cold war oteg commanded the republic's first ever expeditionary fleet who fought during the cold war and the galactic war against the sith empire oteg again had the rink of jedi master oteg was a member of yoda's species that worked along the jedi knight revan and oteg was one of the only jedi that initially forgave revan of his sins that he committed during his time as a sith and finally the last named member of yoda's species is known as vandar toker vandar was a male jedi master of yoda's species who was the head of the dantooine jedi enclave council during the mandalorian wars as well as the jedi civil war holding a seat on both the jedi high council and the council of the jedi academy during this time span he was friends with jedi council member rook lamar usually having the last word in their frequent disagreements notably vandar wanted to train revan yet again in the ways of a jedi after his fall to the dark side of the force and actually became one of the key masters of revan after he was disillusioned with the jedi order being one of the key players and turning him back to the light side of the force while having a secret council meeting on the planet of dantooine vandar toker was killed by the sith lord darth nilas as he drained the force from the planet's surface by the time of the cold war vandartoker's wisdom knowledge and personality had been preserved in one of the great neotexons an interactive holocron and a treasured artifact of the jedi order vandar toquero's holocron was considered one of the most famous and useful holocrons of all of the jedi order as vandar toker was actually considered one of the most powerful members of l of the jedi including yoda himself as in terms of raw force abilities and roth power vandar is considered one of the only equals of grand master yoda as well as his skill in lightsaber combat although he rarely drew his weapon and finally the last member of yoda's species that we know about in star wars legends is simply known as the unknown jedi this unknown jedi of course belonged to yoda's species this being was however a notable jedi as his face was carved into the wall of the valley of the jedi on the planet of ruson along with four other former jedi masters with this unknown jedi likely stemming from a very ancient time of the jedi order in its infancy but those were all of the members of yoda's species that we currently know about again it's likely that star wars canon in the second season of the mandalorian were potentially onward could reveal more members of the species however now in canon we only have three and in legends it's only just a few more in canon of course specifically i love the child as well as gioda himself but in legends my favorite member of yoda's species is actually vandar as in many ways vandar was the proto-yoda it should be noted that every single member of yoda's species that we see besides the child did in fact become a jedi and all of
