hey guys and welcome back in this video we shall see how to fix Windows update error so if you are also getting this error the code is 0x 80070643 then let's see how we can fix this error some computers might not have a recovery partition that is large enough to complete the update process and because of this the update for Windows recovery environment might might fail and you will receive the Windows update errors and windows has not issued any patch to fix this error but they have issued a manual how to resize your recovery environment partition and that's exactly what we are going to do in this video you just need to click on your start button then look for Disk Management and then you can click here on click and format disk partitions it's going to open the Disk Management program of Windows now once it opens up you can see your recovery partition and in my case it is this one so if I click on my recovery partition you can see the disk number as well as the partition number so my recovery partition is on disk zero and partition 4 in your computer it might be a different disk or different partition but you will have to look for your recovery partition like for example I'll just show this on my another computer in another computer you can see that my recovery partition is on disk one but it is still the partition 4 so dis one partition 4 so it may depend upon your computer now once you know your disk number and partition number the next thing that you can do is open your command prompt as admin so just click on your start button search for CMD then click on run as administrator click on yes now the first thing that we need to do is to disable the Windows recovery environment before we can make any change to the partition so to do that you have to write re e a g e NT c space back SL disable hit enter now once the recovery environment is disabled we can run disk part and uh you can see the disk part is running now now type list disk this is going to return a list of all the disk which are on your computer so in my case it's just one dis that is why it is dis zero in your case if you have multiple hard disk you will have to locate which disk is having your windows as well as the recovery environment which you can easily do from Disk Management which I have showed you earlier also and then after that you have to select a disk so just just write select disk zero because disk Zer is the disk which contains my operating system as well as the recovery environment so I'll just hit enter now disk zero is selected now we have to check which of the partition contains the operating system partition four contains the recovery environment and partition three should contain the operating system but let's check out so just write list part this will return return the list of the partitions now from here also you can observe that partition 3 is the primary partition which contains my operating system so this is the partition that I'm looking for now you have to select the partition which contains the operating system so type select or s space part space three all right now partition 3 is selected and uh now we have to shrink our operating system partition by 250 MB which we will use to extend our recovery environment partition or in simple word we are just taking out some space from our operating system partition and adding that additional space to the recovery environment partition so just write shrink space desired equals 250 space minimum equals 250 hit enter and I'm going to keep all these commands in the description of the video as well as the manual which was released by Microsoft so you can open the manual and you can copy the commands from the manual as well now once the operation is successful you will receive a message something like this that the partition has been shrunk by 250 MB and also if you open your dis management you will be able to see an unallocated space which is next to your operating system partition and right before your recovery partition so it's right here so now what we are going to do is that we are going to delete this recovery partition so that it becomes an an allocated space and then 625 + 251 MB will be combined together to form one new recovery partition so let's do that first now we have to select the partition where our recovery environment is which is partition 4 which we already checked before also but if you're not sure you can again open the Disk Management and then click on your recovery partition and check the partition and dis number so it's partition 4 so I'll just select that partition to select part four and my partition has been selected where Windows recovery environment is now I'll just delete this partition so type delete partition over right and just hit enter like this now the partition has been deleted you can open the Disk Management and check that both of the spaces have combined together and have become 878 MB of unallocated space which we will use to create a new recovery environment partition so let's return back here now we have to check whether your disk is a GPT partition or a MBR and depending upon that we are going to use different commands so let's check that first so just type list space disk hit enter and under this GPT column there is a star here which means my disk zero is a GPT partition so I will have to create a new Partition according to GPT if there is no star here in your computer that means your partition is a MBR partition for MBR you will have to write this so if your computer is an MBR partition then you will have to write this create partition primary ID equals 27 but since my computer is GPT and for other people who have GPT partition they will have to write something else which I will show now so this is the command to create a a new Partition in GPT so just copy and paste hit enter now after that we will have to add one more command here for GPD partition this is the one GPD attributes and then hit enter all right now if you open the Disk Management you can see that our partition has been created which is of type recovery partition and now we have to format this partition and change its name to do that you have to write format quick file system NTFS and then label Windows re tools which is recovery environment tools and hit enter after that you can just type list Space volume to check if your recovery environment partition was created or not so if you type list volume you will get a result something like this and here the volume 4 represents my recovery environment and now it has a size of 877 MB so the work of this dis part is complete you can just write exit and hit enter now you will return back to your CMD The Prompt will be something like this see Windows system 32 which means your dis part program has closed now we have to enable the Windows recovery environment which we had disabled at the beginning now to unable it you have to type re agent c space back slash enable and hit enter once your recovery environment is enabled you can type re agent c space back slash info and you can use this command to check whether the Windows recovery environment was installed or not and then you can check that it is unable that means it is installed and working now so finally you can just close this command prompt and from here as well you can observe that your recovery partition has been extended or it has become bigger than what it was at the beginning so you can close this Disk Management as well so then just restart your computer and the Windows update will start working so that's all for this video I hope you were able to fix your Windows update error so don't forget to give a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel I'm going to see you in the next video thanks for watching
