prediction about the Tesla Model y becoming the best selling car in the world has come true back in 2016 the CEO estimated that the demand for the model y would be between 500 000 and a million units per year that was seven years before the vehicle was released musk went so far as to predict that the model y would become the best selling car globally people often mock him for his paranoia and also say that his predictions never turn out to be true but until last year it is truly incredible because Tesla had announced that the electric SUV was on track to catch up with the Toyota Corolla which has around a million one hundred and fifty thousand sales per year it became the the best-selling overall vehicle in the world by Revenue now at the end of the first quarter of 2023 the model Y is the best selling car in the world by units sold so for the next launch the Tesla Model Y is making an update that will refresh the vehicle to create momentum for further growth in the future but what will across three continents the EV maker has guided a production rate of 20 million Vehicles a year by 2030 and recently Tesla has revealed that the model y production has reached a run rate of 250 000 units both in Giga Texas and Giga Berlin that is in addition to the rate of over 500 000 units per year at Giga Shanghai and over 250 000 at Fremont to enhance the development of the model y Elon Musk recently traveled to China which is one of the key markets for the electric car industry and the location of one of Tesla's large electric vehicle plants so how does Elon musk's visit highlight The crucial importance of the Chinese market to the worldwide market for electric vehicles the interests of the United States and China are intertwined like conjoined twins said musk in his announcement for the first time in three years since 2020 at the model 3 Handover ceremony on May 30th of 2023 Elon Musk had a trip to China with many essential activities in the general development of Tesla the down on its investment in China the Tesla Factor will be able to produce 10 000 megapacks which are very large batteries used to store huge amounts of electricity the company tweeted the new Factory with a picture of a signing ceremony in China and musk also confirmed in that tweet saying Tesla opening a mega pack Factory in Shanghai to supplement the output of a mega pack Factory in California additionally musk also met with Zheng Yu Chun the chairman of catl the important thing is that musk also spent a part of this visit coming to the factory and talking to Tesla employees at the Shanghai gigafactory the billionaire gave a speech to the staff and praised them there it's been incredibly impressive how you have been able to overcome so many difficulties and so many challenges musk told the staff I'd sell people throughout the world the cars we produce here are not just the most efficient in production but also the highest quality this is the most recent information on musk's trip to China now let's return to our main topic of today what significant changes will we be expecting for the Tesla Model y in the future Tesla has officially made a big change change in the model y that all of us have been waiting to see for quite some time now multiple sources are showing this information and pictures of evidence that Tesla upgraded the model y to Hardware 4. since the model y was launched with the previous generation Hardware 3.0 Suite according to Tesla these computers and cameras will be capable of full self-driving but for now with the next generation of the Tesla Model y there are new updates to Hardware 4. this new model y will be bringing a fully updated FSD or full self-driving computer and a big change is that the cameras are upgrading from 1.2 megapixels to 5 megapixels which immediately makes all eight cameras around the car that much better there are other changes as well there have been rumors that Tesla is going to be adding back radar sensors through Hardware 4 and we saw the first hardware for vehicle deliveries on their shipment but previously they shipped the hardware for an upgrade on the model S and x and now Tesla has officially made this change on the model y we found a few model y's with these upgrades in San Francisco and other sources found a few in Burbank with the camera upgrades the important thing to note is that today there is much difference between these systems it really will come into play long term with upgrades and FSD updates but from what we can tell Hardware 4 in the model Y at least so far does appear to add many new features as many have expected for example phone call controls phone call controls are integrated with the steering wheel allowing drivers to answer reject calls mute unmute or hang up using the left scroll wheel button when you hear that hotline bling you press the left button on the scroll wheel and the call will be muted so to unmute you just press it again and if you want to end the call you just have to press the right right scroll wheel once pretty simple kind of interesting that it took them this long to integrate this feature into this car I remember my 2007 Camry LE had Bluetooth and could answer and ignore phone calls but I guess you know they had other things to focus on next up is the search function your model y will have a new search function which is located below the menus to show options as you type and provide suggestions for easier access to controls and settings for example if you're looking for information about autopilot you just search autopilot using the search function and get your information faster and easier it's very similar to using a search engine like Google Bing or using your phone's search feature to find settings or apps next we have photos and reports this new software allows you to access photos and reports to get more information when choosing a point of Interest or a supercharger location for example you can click on a restaurant drawn to get information about the menu images and reviews much like you can click on a supercharger location after that we have automatic emergency braking this system has undergone considerable improvements to be able to be integrated into this new model y variant these upgrades enable the automatic emergency braking to stop for threats while driving in Reverse now you can stop before Vehicles traveling in a perpendicular path to your vehicle such as a vehicle running a red light at an intersection moreover automatic emergency braking has also been improved to support higher speeds it'll be automatically activated at speeds up to 124 miles per hour or 200 kilometers per hour up from a previous maximum of 90 miles per hour next up we have the rear seat which allows rear passengers to move the passenger seat forwards or backwards when the car is parked making it easier to get in and to get out to access the passenger seat controls tap the C seat icon on the rear touch screen and hold one of the arrows to move the passenger seat forward or backward the important thing is that these controls are available only when the vehicle is not moving next we have the track pack Tesla took the model 3 to the next level with the release of the track package along with a set of track ready tires with substantial carbon ceramic brakes and four aluminum wheels it receives a host of software upgrades that specifically unlock the super at up to 200 miles per hour top speed the next feature is speed assist which leverages your car's cameras to detect speed limit signs this improves the accuracy of speed limit data on local roads highways and select countries detected speed limit size will be displayed in the driving visualization and last we have Vision park assist the Tesla Vision park assist visually and audibly warns you of surrounding objects this feature uses occupancy networks to predict objects through the Contours in 360 degree high definition around your car now how is the situation in terms of production of the Tesla Model y the newest data shows Tesla continuing its dominance with the top selling passenger car and top selling light truck in the United States an internal Tesla brand sales the Tesla Model Y is the state's most popular vehicle selling 31 940 units in the first quarter with the model 3 trailing behind with 17 715 units and the Tesla Model y expanded its dominance significantly last year it held 7.6 percent of the light truck Market selling 87 257 units which is 1.4 times higher than as many vehicles as the second place RAV4 with only 59 794 units in this year as for the current year so far during the first quarter of 2023 the Tesla Model y has sold 30 1940 units equal to 10.3 percent of the popular Light Truck segment and sold a whopping 2.4 times as many units as second place RAV4 which only sold 13 326 units combined Tesla is still the number two selling brand behind Toyota since Tesla sells in fewer segments than Toyota does but Toyota's full year market share was 17.3 percent in 2022 dropping to 15.2 percent in the first quarter of this year Tesla's was 11.2 percent in 2022 and has seen a small increase to 11.8 percent in 2023 so far if this pace continues we could see Tesla overtake Toyota as the top selling company in the next year or two in the past Tesla has worked hard to ramp up production of the model Y in both Texas and Germany at Giga Berlin as well as the Fremont Factory in Northern California where the vehicle was first produced only at Tesla's Giga Texas Factory has its reached the 5000 units weekly production rate equating to a roughly quarter of a million vehicle production capacity with the model y Tesla's Giga Texas reached a production rate of 3 000 model y units per week in December and added a thousand more units by early April of this year just a little over a month later Tesla has already reached a new Milestone of 5 000 units in a single week increasing the Tesla's model y has quickly overtaken its sibling the model 3 in becoming the automaker's most popular vehicle model while it quickly became not only the company's most sought after car but one of the most popular in the world Tesla has tried to ramp up production as much as possible to keep up with demand it is evident that the automaker is working to increase production of the model y even further as it could plan to utilize the vast amount of floor space it has at Giga Texas to utilize a more refined manufacturing process that would yield even more cars those are the lofty goals that Tesla is pursuing and intends to carry out soon in the next part let's consider it from a different angle how would Tesla and Ford make a big change in the electric vehicle industry today we have some really big news from Tesla and Ford one thing that is very clear with Tesla is how much better their supercharger network is than any other third-party charging Network today it's one of the absolute biggest advantages of buying a Tesla over any other EV Tesla has started opening their Network up to other EVS in the US and Ford has officially announced that they're partnering with Tesla to provide superchargers to Ford owners which will start early next year Ford EV customers will have access to more than 12 000 Tesla superchargers across the United States and Canada the way that this will work is that with the EVS Ford has shipped so far which include the Mach e F-150 Lightning and e-transit Van Ford will be offering an adapter and software integration these customers will be able to pay through a forward pass or Ford Pro intelligence directly using Tesla's supercharging API it should prove to be a seamless integration that doesn't require their customers to download the Tesla app or the charging station to have an adapter that is huge news and it shows that they clearly recognize Tesla's lead and are truly willing to partner and open up chargers for other brands we think that the bigger news is that in 2025 Ford will be adopting Tesla's charging standard thus far all EVS besides Teslas in the US have been using other connectors such as CCS SAE j1772 or Chad demo these connectors do a good job but aren't long-term future-proofed like Tesla's connector four volunteered to shift entirely to Tesla's connectors naming it the North American charging standard instead of the beginning CCS connector on top of all this the Tesla connector is generally considered to be superior overall a single small plug does both slow and fast charging up to 250 kilowatts and the new version supports up to a megawatt the ccs and chatimo connectors are bulky monsters much bigger and heavier than the nacs all nacs cars support a data protocol to handle Plug and Play billing through only Tesla while only a small number of CCS cars have started to support that the CCS connector was the first to support supercharging but was only Incorporated in a few stations and that Advantage is ending the information we collect shows that Tesla's connector on the technical side works much better compared to Theory Tesla opened this up and Ford has now confirmed that in 20 25 their next Generation Vehicles will have this connector and will be entirely ditching CCs in favor of Tesla's connector then their vehicles won't even require an adapter to use Tesla's superchargers Ford reportedly said one of the biggest motivations here was Tesla's supercharger reliability being ahead of the competition all in all this is huge news for Tesla and the EV industry Ford will soon have a much bigger Advantage with charging infrastructure and they will be adopting a sleeker charger in their cars in the future Tesla will be expanding their supercharger business allowing them to grow and install even further and make more money with charging but the big question moving forward though is Will other brands adopt Tesla's North American charging standard because of the charging standard the US has gone forward with ccs's the new Baseline but this competition may win out if Ford shifts entirely to Tesla's connectors what are your thoughts on the big change and do you prefer these new upgrades to the Tesla Model y let us know in the comments below otherwise if you enjoyed this video video please leave us a like subscribe if you haven't already and be sure to ring the bell so you can stay up to date on new Tesla car World content once again we thank you so much for watching and we hope to see you again next time until then take care and be safe foreign [Music]
