Eating ENTIRE KOREAN BBQ MENU at Home | My Relationships (Story Time)

hey guys good morning it's Mike shed I I don't usually wake up with a smile because sometimes waking up is a chore right now when you're stuck in the same little space you've been stuck in for weeks on end I know everyone's going through the same things it's driving a lot of us pretty crazy but hey we're all in this together we're gonna get through it together and the day will come when we can march outside and go to our favorite all-you-can-eat restaurants and stuff our faces can't wait for that day but until then the next best thing is what I'm gonna be eating today about a week ago Jim BBQ one of my favorite all-you-can-eat Korean barbecue places in the country and I made a couple videos about this place I love their barbecue they they contacted me about a week ago they're like hey would you like us to send you some perfect you uh what I like a puppy would I like to go karaoke or what Garth Brooks yeah yeah and obviously yes to the barbecue question so this morning I got a call I don't know mind this I woke it up today like 7:00 a.m. I got a call from FedEx they're downstairs in my front door and that box came I don't even open up yeah put it away for you guys what it's a dress of like look like this is the first time in like weeks I actually put on jeans I've been just lounging around in sweats and shorts for four days on it I've dressed up for the barbecue I don't dressed up a lot I'll dress up to go on days I dress up once a year to go see Shane Ewing and I dressed up for that box this is Korean barbecue dressed up like I got great shirt on so when this when the grease splatters it doesn't matter they'll just plant it right in all right let's see what's in the box I've no idea I know it's heavy it's all I know [Music] yeah it's yes course Jim barbecue sticker I think the the delivery guys like when I saw him I saw the sticker I like almost give him a hug than I you know obviously quarantine camp also don't randomly hug strangers gets people the wrong idea obviously because the times we live in I already disinfected the Fox it's like a barbecue cocoon by the way this is not a sponsored video they did give me the food for free but they're not paying me to tuck them up but I do love this BBQ place and they do deliver so even right now if you want to get what I'm about to get right now they can deliver it to ya oh my god oh no there's some there's some spillage I smell kimchi oh that's that's not good all right some of the sauce has spilt as long as the meat is okay that's my primary concern oh they send me Akana oh my god oh there is a lot I'll be barbecuing for days with this pork belly with garlic sauce thinly sliced beef belly this is one of my favorite things to eat pork belly with red wine pork belly with spicy sauce regular pork belly this is like when the BBQ santa came and delivered a package this is what it's like Oh Hawaiian steak every time I go to jannat I get the Hawaiian steak oh they gave me one of everything from the menu marinated bullyin short rib all this Korean shrah rib this is why you paid the extra money on the menu premium Trudel the thin sliced brisket I would get no less than six to seven orders of justice and it's a great deal when you go for lunch I think lunch is only like like 20 bucks or something and then you just chow down on the thinly sliced brisket chicken beef bulgogi I'm putting them on my sink cuz I gotta rinse them off a little garlic chicken I mean this package went through some turbulence Hey kimchi came out okay let is still one potato salad oh no moment of silence for the Fallen kimchi so basically yeah these were the main culprits these little plastic things these uh I so sad because there's the seasonings are in those it's gonna fill my barbecue dreams for the next week it's a doubly sad day two batches of falling kimchi let me get prepared and meet Big Bertha my Korean barbecue grill for one I'm so excited to use this thing I've had this for so long never used it until today oh my god here we go first time Korean barbecue meal right at home oh and it's so complete - I got potato salad some turnips pickled jalapenos I got basically every type of meat you can find at a Korean barbecue place and it turned us on the only thing I'm kind of kind of nervous about is uh-oh smoke it's gonna come out it this day am I gonna be like evict it after filming this of course this would have been a lot easier on my New York house I could just go outside to the backyard but I'm in an apartment trying to eat Korean barbecue this thing is turn on high right now so I'm hoping to the barbecue gods that won't get to smoking in here there's like a fire alarm like right there anyway the saws I use for Korean barbecue really simple sesame oil little salt little pepper all you need I didn't have any lettuce or any greens really so I do have a salad so I took out some of the leaves from there I'm gonna use that as a rabbi got some turnips as well throwing these garlic's to this apartment about to smell nice you know [Music] everything is up with the pork belly is ready get myself something thin beef briskets my favorite for everything in Korean barbecue I know I'm not in a Korean barbecue restaurant but it's about as close as you can get [Music] love me a little toasty jalapeno BOGO ghee is definitely the best in a little some [Music] [Applause] first round cooked and nothing went off so happy pork belly I have missed you in my life [Music] I think this is by far one of my happiest days after the lockdown started I don't think I realized how much I actually missed Korean barbecue like such simple pleasures in life that you don't think about how it's gone this is something my parents my grandparents are who I know in China does kick-ass Khayyam say goodbye to me trace it with a butter sky I'm the Shred I just like it with a little bit of jalapenos already marinated so much flavor spicy bulgogi best wrapped and with little lettuce some kimchi on top jalapeno for a good measure a little sesame oil again not as close as I'll come to being on a real Korean barbecue place red wine pork belly I don't like wine I love that oh that one on that pork belly multi miss meets sophistication sure I needed to stuff my face before I can start talking well this is like uh it's close to a mukbang videos as I've ever done eating this food obviously reminds me of Korea and one thing I've been thinking about a lot well I've been you know here in this apartment his relationships I know I don't really talk about my relationships much I think I don't know like once were were mentioned it a couple times but I never really got into it and a lot of you guys been asking me about that to expand upon what I talked about last time when I was forming the San Francisco San Jose basketball tournament video and I think now finally it's okay to talk about it if you didn't know already I was in a relationship for over two years almost two and a half years and I feel like it really affected me even to this day obviously I'm not in a relationship anymore we've been broken up for about a year and a half now and I never talked about my girlfriend when I had a girlfriend but the thing is like I really wanted to talk about it but the girl was dating was extremely private person so even after we broke up for about a year I feel like like I wasn't allowed to talk about it anyway we met I don't know if you guys remember this is there's a video series I did I think it's a towards the beginning of the Strictly dumpling channel a video series I did about Taiwan and Hong Kong like one after another that was my first time in Taiwan my first time in Hong Kong so obviously I went alone because I usually always travel alone I went alone you know I went to Taiwan it was gray spent about a week there then I went to Hong Kong and I stayed about I don't know five days for six days and I'm towards the end of that trip like this is my first time really solo traveling for an extended period of time I mean I've always travelled by myself I went to Buffalo Niagara Falls by myself for a week worst mistake ever because you really only need like a day there I stayed a week so after see Niagara Falls and a plate of buffalo wings you can imagine what my week was like a lot of sitting in a hot tub in a hotel and also I went to Paris by myself so not a lot of solo trips not a lot of trips in general because I was really important to have a lot of money to try so get a Hong Kong and I really enjoyed Hong Kong but by the end of it like I was feeling extremely extremely lonely like I don't get lonely often especially nowadays I don't feel like I could get lonely at all now but this was many years ago and towards the end of that I starts feeling a little lonely so at that point I don't think a lot of people were watching the videos yet so I'm still able to see every single direct message it comes in on Instagram by the way I'm sorry if I don't get back to your Instagram it's just like every single day I get a like there's a lot of messages to swear throughout and I don't get to see them all so I do want to apologize for that so anyway the last day in Hong Kong I get an Instagram message sure so it pops up at that point I was getting like you know to a day or something so I read all the messages that comes in and I see is from this girl she's at Hong Kong she's like hey welcome to Hong Kong I like your videos which you know at that point of my cruise no one watches my videos but hey thank you so much for watching the videos so she said thank you for for making videos really enjoy them and obviously I can see her pictures I'm like oh this girl is really cute so we start talking I'm messaging back and forth and then I asked her am i hey it's my it was my last night at Hong Kong you want to go to dinner and she's she said yes so we we picked this place is a citron place if you guys watched a video from Hong Kong there's a Sutra restaurant that I filmed that it's called Suzie I know I don't I didn't feel me the first time but the second time I filmed it it's called SIA still one of my favorite citron restaurants in the world so we go to this restaurant and she loves spicy food as much as I do and we have a great time eating and talking and I find out she's Korean she's from Korea and she lived in LA and something happened in LA that was kind of devastating so she kind of ran away to Hong Kong she just like went to Hong Kong didn't know anybody didn't have a job and just found a job and settle down and it was really brave anyway it was a fun dinner and afterwards I didn't want the evening to end so I offered her some pineapple cakes cuz I just came back from Taiwan I'm so going back to my hotel give her a box of pineapple cakes and I offered to walk her home that's what I thought I gentlemanly thing to do was and but apparently in Asia like no one does that yes so I did I've come and see me like it like a creeper like I want to follow her home and I had no idea at this point like whether she liking or not I I thought in my mind I was like oh this girl's really cute I really would like to spend more time with her but I'm leaving so next day again I'm flight to go home and we we start texting each other so after talking a while I really wanted to see her again but it was hard for me to go out to Asia so I invited her to New York and and she came to New York and we hung out and we knew by day two like we really liked each other and that's when I got on one knee and popped the question just just can you not no I'm not not that crazy but we did talk about being boyfriend and girlfriend and we decided yeah that's something we both would like to see happen so it happened after Deb I wanted to make it like YouTube officially you know like hey godred my girlfriend my girlfriend but which is a really private person she didn't wanna be on the video and that's why like every single time we would hang out at a certain country and she was with me a lot of miles traveling around the world like I will travel there she would meet me there there was a long distance relationship but honestly like I feel like my whole life I've only been in long-distance relationships so what's okay with me anyway that's the reason you never see her in any of the videos because it was purposely hidden so even now like I still have the habit of unless the person with really wants to be on the show I'm not gonna put ominous just because I have that habit of like I just don't want to invade anyone's privacy if you guys want to see what she looks like oh I'll put some videos down below like that I think she appears in I don't know I can't remember I thought I remember one that she definitely appeared him but I might up I might have changed it because I might have reiterated that video to edit her out after she told me she don't want to be in the video so anyway it was a long distant relation but we still saw each other like at least once a month and we traveled to a lot of countries together like Thailand obviously Korea Japan she went with me on my first trip to Hawaii shall long-distance but it was okay and for me like I haven't been in a lot of relationships in my life like real relationship I was like I was like 20 22 it was when I first got to New York and that one was really serious and then I didn't Dave right so you guys I didn't day for 10 years because I was focusing on human rights word I practice a meditation exercise called Falun Gong that's persecuted in China so do a lot of work trying to bring awareness about the persecution about the organ harvesting all the the injustice that's happening in China so I didn't have money at a halftime so I didn't day for like ten years so she was like my first girlfriend in like a decade and I don't know if we jumped into it too quickly or we got too serious too soon I don't know what it was and I still don't know if I would have changed anything about that relationship it was good I was happy I just I think also I was kind of out of practice like I didn't know what to expect from a relationship because I really haven't been in one in so long and I think I think there's a lot of things I could have done better obviously from different backgrounds me growing up in the States her growing up in Korea that was like a huge difference as well and also there's sort of a language barrier because her English is not perfect and God knows mine isn't either but there was some language barrier not a lot but some misunderstandings that happened a lot but overall most of the time I was a happy relationship I was happy I felt like she was she was a really caring person and I thought carefully you know like like someone out there cares for me and it feels really good you know and throughout the two years we went through a lot of really crazy things like really devastating things that happen in our lives like we win through it and I figure that if we can go through these things like we could go through anything so I really in my mind like this is the girl I'm gonna marry but yeah it was a serious relationship and it ended and so crazy because like fina youtuber like obviously making videos it's it's it's a passion of mine and it's my job and and whatever but it's also like a like a diary you know like you can like I remember things based on the videos I film so like I said we met there's videos from that trip that I when I met her and then there's videos from the trip where we broke up like we went to Europe I think that was the series where we started off in Singapore and then we went to Paris and then the UK and then Spain and we broke up in the UK and we still had to go to Spain I think that was like oh my god I mean like to this day I have like a very low opinion about London 1 because I really didn't have a lot of good food there that in the break up made that city just unbearable for me so haven't been back since you know you don't expect it to have it especially not like in the middle of a trip but it happened and it was devastating and I don't think I'm alone in this when you haven't loved a lot of people in life and when you do it sticks with you forever like my first relationship the one I had when I was 23 such a toxic relationship by the way like I feel like I still have a recover from the damage I took from that one and maybe that's why I didn't do for 10 years no no that was the whole being portal living that they spent thing but could have been that but this one like I still care for her and for a year after we broke up I really really still cared for her like really care for her no I still care for her but static really really carefully you know like there's different levels you know I do hope that wherever she is she's safe right now and her family not affected by this whole crazy situation but the reason I want to talk about this was because we're eating Korean BBQ it's just Kate that's well that's kind of what it reminded me but you know I hear a lot of my friends a lot of people message me and tards me like hey how long does it take to get over a crush where how long does it take to get over your love for somebody or I really want to find somebody in it because I don't feel complete look I'm definitely not the relationship expert but I think every time somebody comes in and goes out of your life there's a reason for that it's not I don't believe in coincidences for good were bad there's a reason behind it and I think for me I really showed that I could actually care this much about somebody which I mean 10 years I didn't have a relationship I didn't know I could actually care for someone like that and I did and I did but also it taught me to see things from a different perspective and to really think for the other person because because being humans a lot of us you know I'm really talking about myself I mean there's a lot of selfish qualities there where we really just want us to be happy like I want to be happy but when you care for somebody I mean really care for somebody their happiness it's seeing them happy like there's so many times in a relationship yes it ends it hurts it's devastating you lost who you thought could be the love of your life where is the love of your life and you had a whole future planned out but again things happen reason people change that's another thing I learned from all this people change all right we all change she changed I changed sometimes was there it just isn't there anymore and that's gonna have to be okay because here's the thing it's not the end of the world you are gonna find somebody else you will feel loved again you are gonna be happy once more because yeah like a lot of times life sucks if you lose that glimmering candle that is hope you're gonna get drowned out in the abyss because you know what no matter how dark the night gets mornings gonna be here at some point okay it's not always gonna be this bad and another thing is as damaged as I thought I was from my first relationship and I know a lot of people say to me like I'm damaged I'm damaged cuz I'm jaded I'm dissing dad and other whatever as much as you're scared to do as much as you think in my heart don't be afraid to explore a new possibility don't be afraid to get your heart broken again because just like when you're working out you know you gotta break down your muscles for it to become tougher and bigger and stronger and don't let that fear stop you from potentially experiencing something remarkable anyway that's my whole entire relationship story in a nutshell there you go I hope a lot of those videos make sense now I see a lot of comments people are like I see a reflection of a girl I see yeah that was her so so I guess my whole point of the story is that when you're a lot to your apartment for weeks on end you start to go through different relationships and significant people that has been in your life and also if you want to date a youtuber she's just messaged on my Instagram yeah I worked on me so never know all right we have some meat left and a bunch of I know is that what to do with this Korean barbecue fried rice stir-fried to resume a little salt perfect probably my happiest day in a long long time be able to say here enjoy some Korean barbecue having a conversation with you guys things like this in life that makes me happy I'm about to put on episode scrubs and
