Dwarf Fortress - Ideas - Trapping Beasts with Doors

hello everybody and welcome to another quick Dwarf Fortress idea have you ever had a forgotten beast and you really didn't know what to do with it especially one that shoots webs it's actually kind of useful and you kind of didn't want to kill it well you're in luck because for some reason they are unable to knock over doors right now especially if they're locked now they are capable of pathing through doors however they are not going to claim the door when they pass through it like an enemy if an Invader walks through a door they claim the door and it becomes theirs but with forgotten beasts because they are just technically a neutral entity or an Uninvited Guest uh they do not claim the door is theirs thus you can still lock it so simply have a kind of trappy door that they are drawn to they fly or crawl right up to the edge of the door leave the door locked until they're pressed up against it build a little room right in front of the door lock the outside of the door and then trap them inside then once this is complete you can then direct them basically anywhere in your fort you want using doors just simply move the game forward one turn at a time by default this is bound to the period key or just be very quick on the play pause button bring the Forgotten Beast down and to the area of your choice and if it's a silk forgotten Beast then you could build a silk Farm just like this one and make sure that you attach an animal that's repentant so that they don't suffer because you know if you attach a suffering animal everybody just kind of feels bad so in this case we have a turkey here turkey gobbler who's very willing to accept all of these webs from our lovely forgotten beast and just sit here for the rest of their life getting sprayed at so that we can make nice silk by the way we named The Forgotten Beast angry noodle because it's literally a giant thread python if you would like to see more videos like this uh check out this YouTube channel there's tutorials and ideas and other fun things and all sorts of other stuff that you might be interested in thank you very much for watching this video and I hope to see you in the next one
