duct tape corpsing

this is duct tape corpsing [Music] this happens to be a monkey i have around here somewhere but i can't find it a human skeleton i don't know where it is but i did find my gorilla skeleton that target was selling this october which i love and i have plans for this anyway so i'm going to show you a corpsing technique on this let me grab you by your video throat listen that doesn't mean that this is a corpsing technique only for monkeys monkey gorilla skeletons no you can use this on people's skeletons too this is a technique not a project think of it that way i'm just showing you this new corpsing tech different corpsing technique it may not be new to you but i i think it is because i've never seen anybody else do it this tape this is a it says it's duct tape this isn't real duct tape this is this is colored tape i got something kind of close to flesh tone because of what i'm doing with it but any of these vinyl duct tapes will work all right we are doing duct tape corpsing duct tape corpsing duct tape corpsing gonna put on some tape i don't want this big gap i'm gonna bridge that gap with tape and i'm gonna overlap this so that there's you know just a little bit like a quarter of an inch or so a third of an inch overlap and we're using the skin the skin color tape like skin now see how that gap is bridged by the tape now i'm going to melt this down a bit so that this looks more quartzy i would love it if i could use a heat gun for this but it's just not powerful enough so we're going to use a blowtorch do this outside it's a lovely activity on a cold day you know or just do it outside where you have good ventilation um so yeah just uh make sure you guys do this outside okay so i want to show you the kind of look that you get with this style of corpses look at all those little holes and when we paint this when we uh finish this up those are going to look lovely so i'm just going to keep going and i'm going to show you guys but that's the whole technique the whole technique is the tape and then the blow torch and uh if you leave if you wanted skin tone buy skin tone colored tape and then i'll do some painting on this of course but uh let's go from here you guys can take as much time as you want in order to lay this skin out i'm trying to knock out a video kind of after work on tuesday night so i am rushing just a little bit but multiple layers of tape are no problem get that skin exactly how you want and then melt the snot out of it okay i'm going to flame this before i move on to the next one i have a handy dandy water bottle for uh emergencies seriously there could be some minor there could be some fumes uh and there definitely um could be some fire so do this outside i did it in my shop i find going over an area a couple times gets me better little holes rather than staying on the area too long [Music] so that's the chest and now i'm going to spin it around and do the back okay unless there's actual fire then there really aren't any fumes i mean you don't you don't really smell anything unless it's actually flaming i'm going to go ahead and finish out the job on the rest of this body it's a big piece i'm going to ball this piece up and now this will go on and like be a bicep let's do that that's fun so that's an arm done and his torso now truly uh until i get to the head y'all just gonna watch me work on the body all right i'm gonna sneak these guys in during the action here uh you can see me melting this down and right here sneaking in these are my supporters on patreon i thank them so much for uh helping us still more tape and blowtorch action happening here so uh i might as well narrate it um here you can see the body and i i did a ball of tape like i did for the bicep i did it up on the shoulders anywhere you want to bulk out you can just kind of make a wad of tape and then tape it on uh this stuff holds on very well now here's the head uh you can see that ball of tape for the shoulder i'm actually using tape to hold the head where i want it and that's a nice feature and then uh yeah so i tape that in place and then i'm going to use tape to kind of build up a neck um most animals have a thicker neck than than their you know just their skeleton so i put the tape in place and when i heat that that's going to tendon out really nice i probably should have edited that out i just took a drink of my soda all right so right here uh you can see i'm i'm putting in more tape uh and i'm kind of thinking about where are tendons where are neck muscles and see how i kind of mirrored that one neck muscle that crosses across diagonally across your neck from the side um and now i'm putting tape right over the eyes and you'll probably see that better on this one i'm just putting a piece of tape right over that whole eye socket because i know i'm going to shoot a hole through it and then what's left is going to look like that shriveled eye skin let's call it eyelids and now being careful here of where i put this and see how i twist the tape like that i twisted it so that's going to make a better looking tendon uh primates are kind of known for their jaw strength but by twisting the tape and then taping it back down making sure you know it's sticky side over um you can get i can put a tendon on either side of the jaw that way and i'm just going to melt that into oblivion it's just going to look like a little chunk of skin and then a little bit more up here for the forehead and you would think that you would have all of these terrible square edges showing up but you really don't um they kind of melt in and when you hit it with the with the thing you can also push down that melted edge and make it you know kind of blend into the other piece see how quick that went away from the eye real fast oh fire so you know i'm just kind of hitting it melting it down what also happens is because it shrinks up it actually strengthens that tape so it's quite a bit stronger than just the tape is by itself and see i hit those quite a bit and got those down and i don't know if i had oh look i add another layer you can you can keep adding and keep adding and it doesn't look bad it sticks to itself and then it melts to itself when you heat it up so i i i really like this technique it's my favorite fast technique now will anything look quite as good as cotton and latex that you take 12 days to do and you milk the latex yourself from a rubber tree probably not but as far as a fast way to do it this this is pretty nice and you can get that gooey stringy tar manny effect that is kind of hard to get in other ways of corpses but this this lens that lends itself to tendons so well so you know the next time i even do a uh a latex corpse i will probably watch his nose watch how fast this goes boop boop fixed done and i i have the shriveled up skin i love that but the next time i do a latex corpse i will probably do this first to get those hardcore tendons and then fill in with latex now this guy uh he's coarse all right i have i've been working on this about an hour so the corpsing part is done and the next thing i'm going to do is paint um now had i aged this the skeleton underneath beforehand that would all be done but i didn't do that so i'm gonna give this a quick paint now this project will get hair and all that other stuff but uh right now we're just gonna paint it that's right all i'm using is two colors of spray paint i'm relying heavily on what they call brown but it's really like a flesh tone for uh for that tape that is such a good base and then i'm hitting it hard with red and you'll see me wipe it down with a rag that rag has 99 alcohol on it that i soak that rag with the 99 alcohol and then it it kind of takes away a lot of the spray paint i leave as much as i want but uh i do see i'm putting that red on pretty heavy and then i come back with this alcohol soaked uh shop towel and i wipe it down and then your skin tone shows back up some and the the teeth show back up the jaw showed back up so i'm still getting my color uh now this is a super fast paint job because i'm trying to crank a video out but paint it better than this it's gonna look better than this you're gonna get out of it what you put into it and this is by far the last layer of work for for this piece because he's going to get hair on parts of him he gets his whole skull taken off and if you guys want to see his whole the top of his skull so his brains exposed this is a frankenstein experiment for dark hour um if you guys want to see the the rest of this build let me know in the comments and i can make that happen and really i could talk about anything right now because this is such a simple paint job i'm spray painting on the red and i'm wiping it off and then i'm going to go back with the brown you'll see me go in with the brown i didn't move the camera very much for this but you can see i'm just hitting a few spots that i want darker this is obviously a very rough paint i'm not selling you on paint i'm selling you on the technique of look at those beautiful holes that you can get look at the texture that you can achieve with uh duct tape and i spent an hour and 20 minutes on this that's it um look at the replication of tendons see how i've got tendons i've got a little bit of a bicep there on that arm look at that tendon going down into the forearm here that's fun now i know that this guy is going to get finished out really bloody um i'm going to open him up and do intestines in him uh and i'm actually cutting off the top of his head and having the brain be there with electrodes in it this is going to be a prop for our frankenstein's lab at dark hour so he has a lot of work to do but i thought i would show you guys the concept of duct tape corpsing vinyl or duct tape corpsing i mean look at those ligaments you know do you have to use um flesh colored tape no but i didn't have to do any flesh colored painting so to me that's kind of worth it i used four rolls of tape i used four rolls of tape and uh sixteen dollars and honestly i used about three and a half uh so let's say 16 in materials um this this prop has a long way to go but if i was just doing a corpse like a human corpse i might change my colors up a little but i know this guy i want to be musculature and i want him to be really rotty but anyway you
