from the beginning of band sin has been the topic of apostles and prophets pundants pastors teachers and even children still ask anyone on the street or those you might know you might well find sin is difficult to define and fewer still want to talk about it some view sin is merely an issue of whether one goes to heaven or hell after death others see sin is a simple personal or moral problem just how many sins are there are the degrees of sin this new testament Gracie eliminate the personal concern about sin or the consequences of sin all of these thoughts are interesting and perhaps hold merit however not one of them actually defines sin so what is sin that is the mystery this is dreams and mysteries with John Paul Jackson so what is sin the original translation of the word sin means to miss the mark mr. mark of what mr. mark of God's holy standard of righteousness first John 3:4 described sin as the breaking or transgression of God's law is also defined as disobedience or rebellion against God in Deuteronomy 9 as well as independence from God see scripture also says this to him he knows to do good and does not do it to him it is sin so where did sin begin what was it the beginning I did it just like flare up out of nothing no sin had its beginning with Satan the most beautiful and powerful cherub God had ever created not content with his position he desired to ascend higher than God to rule over God and that was his downfall the beginning of sin occurred their sin must be important to God because when Satan's and his name was taken away from him and was given and he was given a title that title was Satan you see sayings not his name it's the title when he came down from Earth he brought that sin with him to the earth and as the epitome of sin Satan brought that condition to the human race in the Garden of Eden when he tempted Adam and Eve but the same enticement you shall be like God Genesis 3 describes it as Adam and Eve's rebellion against God and against his command Romans 5 tells us that through Adam sin entered mankind and so death was passed to every man and woman because the wages of sin is death the most common theological perspective today is that there are three types of sin inherited sin imputed sin and personal sin let me say it again inherited sin imputed sin and personal sin so what's the inherited heritage sin like well the view of inherited sin is derived from Adams Sen what Adam said the inclination descent entered the human race and human beings became sinners by nature proponents of this view insists that all illness all disease and all evil are the result of the fall of Adam or inherited sin moreover when Adam sinned his inner nature was transformed or changed and it brought him spiritual death this death resulted in depravity which would be passed on to all who came after him inherited sin is what causes the human body to break down and eventually die the second type of sin is known as imputed sin imputed sin is used mostly as a legal term the Greek word translated imputed means to take something that belongs to someone and give it to another it's complicated but before the law of Moses sin was not imputed from one man to another although men were still sinners because of inherited sin the law of Moses increased the consequences of sin as a result after the law of Moses was given sins committed in violation of a law were imputed or accounted unto man keep in mind that even before any transgression of the law was imputed to men the ultimate penalty percent which is death continued to reign as a result all humans from Adam to Moses would eventually die not because of their sinful acts if they followed the Mosaic law but because of their own inherited sinful nature after Moses introduced the law humans were subject to death both because of inherited sin from Adam and imputed sin from the violation of the laws of God yet to something very good that occurred with this imputed sin God used this principle of applying one thing to another or imputed sin to actually benefit mankind when he imputed the sin of all believers to the account of Jesus Christ as he hung on the cross when God the Father imputed our sin to Jesus the father treated Jesus as if he were a sinner though he had never send in his entire life and so doing God placed the sin of the entire world upon him and thus Jesus died for the sins of the entire world it's important to understand that though sin was imputed to Jesus Jesus in no way inherited sin from Adam this is because the Holy Spirit caused Mary to conceive not a man it's important to understand also that Jesus bore the penalty for sin but he never became a sinner his pure and perfect nature was untouched by sin nonetheless at the cross the father treated Jesus as if you were guilty of all the sins ever committed throughout the history of the human race even though Jesus was in fact sinless you want to learn the deeper mysteries of spiritual life prayer and spiritual warfare to begin your journey go to Dreams in mysteries.com and click on John Paul's online classroom or call one eight hundred five three eight five two eight five according to the Apostle Paul at second Corinthians 5:21 an incredible exchange took place at the cross God actually imputed our sins to Jesus and simultaneously credited the righteousness of Jesus to all who would believe in him it's like a divine spirit to crisscross this imputed sin and imputed righteousness happened at the exact same moment we've talked about two types of sins so far but there is a third this type of sin is called personal sin or sin that is committed every day by every human being because when we have inherited sin nature from Adam we commit individual personal sins some sins are so small they remain unnoticed by anyone but us other Sanja so grievious they're seen by all from the small syn to the large syn and everything in between each is still a syn and that's part of the mystery on a side note those who've not placed their faith in Jesus Christ must in the end pay the penalty for those personal sins as well as inherited sin and imputed sin however believers in Jesus have been freed from the eternal penalty of sin hell and spiritual death now through grace we actually have the power to resist a sin as well as a strength to say yes to God and what he asked us to do today we can choose whether or not to commit personal sins because we have the power to resist sin through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us he also sanctifies us and he convicts us of our sins when we commit them once we confess our personal sins to God and ask for forgiveness for them we're restored to righteousness or perfect fellowship and communion with God this is why the Apostle John wrote in 1st John 1:9 if we confess our sins he's faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness in all three types of sin inherited sin imputed sin and personal sin were condemned to death by the law but according to the Apostle Paul the only just penalty percent is death and we're not talking about just physical death eternal death as well through Jesus inherited sin imputed sin and personal sin have all been crucified on the cross and now by faith in Jesus Christ as the Savior we have redemption through his blood the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of His grace yet all these things tell us what sin causes and the consequences of sin but we still don't know what sin actually is sin is no easy topic in order to make the recognition of sins simpler man has tried to place in in two categories for centuries it's been broadly taught that there are seven sins for which God would put you to death they've come to be known as a seven deadly sins of pride Envy gluttony lust anger greed and laziness pride is excessive belief in one's own abilities it's been called the sin from which all of the sins arise pride is also known in the Song of Solomon as vanity envy is the passionate desire for others other people's stuff their traits their status their abilities the belongings even the situations they find themselves in in life gluttony is the inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires to live lust is an inordinate craving for the hedonistic pleasures of the body anger or rage is manifested in the individual who fails to see God's goodness and all the things that happen greed is the desire for material wealth or gain that one can never have enough of anything it ignores the importance of the spiritual life is called avarice as well laziness is the avoidance of the physical or spiritual realm of work where you don't want to do either one so if we've been taught that there are seven deadly sins and while I can't argue with the truth of those seven the Apostle John made it even more simple when he pinned this all that is in the world the lust of the flesh the lust of the eyes and the pride of life is not of the Father this makes the recognition of sin even simpler than the seven it boils down to three major categories john indicates that all sin comes from one of these three sins the key phrase is not of the Father but we'll talk more about that a little bit later the Apostle John simplifies sin into three different categories in order for that to be true it has be applicable to every sin has to fall into one of those threes so let's take a look at what Jesus went through when Satan tempted him right after his forty day fast this passage can be found in Luke chapter 4 so Satan takes Jesus up onto a high high location and he tempts him with the lust of the eyes and he says see all these kingdoms I will give them to you but the key phrases see he had to look with his eyes the sin lust of the flesh that Jesus went through was the temptation turned these stones into bread and the sin the pride of life was the temptation that Jesus had to overcome when Satan says throw yourself down from this cliff and the Angels will catch you so the answer is yes the temptation Satan presented to Jesus fell into John's three categories okay well what about Adam and Eve let's go back further than Jesus let's go back to the Garden of Eden were they tempted with the same three categories this passage is found in Genesis chapter three the sin that Adam and Eve faced was the lust of the eyes the temptation was when they looked at the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil it was pleasant to the eyes the sin lust of the flesh was a temptation it was good or desirable for food the sin pride of life was the temptation that it was desirable to make one wise once again the answer is yes to all three temptations Adam and Eve faced were from the three categories John Roda but let's go back even further let's go back before Adam and Eve sin to the original sin which occurred while Satan was still in heaven and you'll find this passage in Ezekiel 28 verses 13 through 18 Ezekiel writes this he says you were in the Garden of God every precious stone was your covering the sardius topaz and diamond Beryl onyx and jasper sapphire turquoise and emerald with gold limestone's precious stones and he was covered with gold goes on to say the workmanship of your timbrels and pipes was prepared for you on the day you were created you were the anointed cherub who covers I established you you were on the holy mountain of God and you walk back and forth in the midst of the fiery stones you were perfect in your ways from the day you were created until ah that's the key phrase until until when verse 15 says until iniquity was found in you verse 16 you became filled with violence and verse 17 until your heart was lifted up because of your beauty so the sin lust of the eyes was the manifestation of the iniquity which resulted in moral evil and covetousness iniquity moral evil fill into the category of lust of the eyes the sin lust of the flesh the men of the station thus of the flesh was violence and unjust gain harsh dealings even murder the sin pride of life the pride of life this heart was lifted up he resulted in a hearty haughty self a self-serving behavior so you see Saints desire to usurp God's Authority and rise above God begin with him falling to these three same temptations the realization is this this is what prompted the Apostle John in first John chapter 216 depend all that's in the world is the lust of the flesh lust of the eyes pride of life and is not of the father Satan fell to these three temptations and it's the same three these tempting you and I with every single day I'm at the beach watching the waves roll in in the people surfing it's beautiful as I watch the people having fun it looks extremely peaceful then suddenly it all changes I'm in the water and the waves are crashing over my head I go on I wake up instantly and begin to pray feeling very troubled one of the great things about dreams is that they can tell you where you're going and where you been all on the same dream doesn't matter how long the dream is doesn't matter how short the dream is this dream seems fairly short but at the same time it's very significant the beach that the dreamers on represents time the sands of time the ocean that the big that the dreamers looking at represents influence the opportunity for influence they're not in the ocean but the ocean is the opportunity to have influence because oceans span continents they touch a lot of people so the dreamers watching the ocean and on the ocean ship watching people navigate waves or playing in the waves or surfing in the waves and waves represent obstacles that turn into opportunities for success the dreamer then is covered by a wave and this is the telltale moment where we recognize what God is getting at God is offering an invitation for greater influence but there's something the dreamer is afraid of and that fear is circumstances that they don't know how to navigate why would God give a dream like that because he wants you to have the opportunity to have the influence he's created you for until you get rid of the fear you won't be able to do that you want B to seize the moment so to speak because fear is a paralyzing element you feel like you're afraid you're going to be overwhelmed over the dreams going to go over your head just everything is going to go like literally over your head meaning it it don't understand it it gets over my head the colloquialism the saying of that but here's that what the Lord wants you to do trust in the Lord with all your heart lean not unto your own understanding acknowledge him and he will direct your paths the key is he wants you to learn to trust in him trust in him to navigate the opportunities trust in him that nothing is going to be greater than you can handle how do you do that you learn to trust in God simply this way very easy three different things but they're they're hard to do consistently but they're necessary what is read the Word of God it teaches you to trust him because it teaches you his ways number two spend time with him time with him mean talking to it listening to him recognising what he's doing number three prayer spend time in prayer with him you do those three things you'll learn to trust in God you learn not to lean up until your own understanding and when any waves of adversity come your way you'll surf them and not drown them great dream it'll prepare you for your destiny over the last 30 years John Paul Jackson has studied how dreams in mysteries calm or call one eight hundred five three eight five two eight five but what about the phrase are referred to earlier in this program when I said not of the father before we can appreciate what is not of the Father we need to understand one particular aspect of who the father is that aspect is the understanding that the perfect God is the creator of all things visible invisible above the earth on the earth and beneath the earth there's nothing that exists in any form anywhere in the cosmos that God did not create and whatever God created he created it really really good therefore when something is not of the Father which is not of God it means it's not good in actuality it's against God's creation it's the antithesis of God simply put sin attempts to destroy or decay everything that God does even if it doesn't look like it when you first give into it this is the meaning of James 4:17 to him who knows to do good and does not do it to him it's sin over 500 times the word good is used in Scripture but the specific application of ending evil this is precisely what Jesus meant when he said not to respond to evil with evil but to respond to evil with good sin is also a defiling process yet we seldom think of it that way but the Bible certainly does for example mark 7 states this is what comes out of a man that defiles a man for from within and out of the heart of men proceed evil thoughts adulteries fornications murders thefts covetousness wickedness deceit lewdness and evil eye blasphemy pride foolishness all these evil things come from within and defile a man and again even if you don't think they're evil cuz how many times have we thought about foolishness being evil well the scripture says so because it actually is the antithesis again of God scripture makes it clear the result of sin is decay deterioration and death which is the ultimate decay of our earthly life sin destroys God's creation scripture tells us that 1,000 years equals a day to God Adam lived after he sinned for another nine hundred and thirty years which is 70 years short of that thousand-year day but he began to die the very moment he sent he began to decay he was no longer immortal he was once a being of light now he was transferred into a human form we live 70 or 80 years 930 years short of 1,000 that's how much sin has crept in to mankind Jesus came to give us life and life more abundantly in the life worth living bundle you'll discover what the Bible calls a zowie life listen as John Paul takes you through the revolutionary life of Jesus also God created perfect and good it's the tacit admission that we know better than God what is best for us sin in essence is agreeing with Satan that his way is better than God's Way but sin does not just affect your own life it affects and influences the lives of all those who are near us our spouse our children and generations after that moreover sin is not simply a personal matter as many perceive it to be sin has vast ripple effects to understand this we need to redress man and creation remember the Bible tells us the earth was created first the very first thing that was created was the earth it was created before the Sun the moon and the stars it was created before any solar system galaxy or any other portion of the cosmos the earth was alone in the heavens when it was created the earth was the preeminent stunningly beautiful crown of God's created order God placed the cosmos around it the earth as the first created of the cosmos was created to effect all that was later created that brings us to man you see man was placed on this earth to rule over the earth and all that was on it therefore man's rule would not only affect the earth it would affect the cosmos whatever happened on earth was designed to have an effect on that which was later created therefore when man sinned not only did man begin to deteriorate the earth he was to subdue and rule over began to deteriorate as well the Apostle Paul addresses this very issue in Romans chapter 8 when he writes that due to sin the earth was subject to futility meaning it couldn't do what it was created to do part of that futility which was suffered was not only the effect of sin had on the earth but the effect that a decaying earth now had on the rest of creation Jesus had dresses this in his prophetic statements about the last days when he tells us the earth as in the days of Noah will be filled with violence he also tells us that not only will there be wars and plagues and conflicts within mankind there will be far-reaching effects that will be seen in the earth as earth such as earthquakes and pestilence as the earth escalates its deterioration from man's sin Jesus goes on to tell us that even the heavens will show signs of this deterioration from the sin there will be stars that will be falling comets crashing to the earth as well as many of the wonders seen in the Sun Moon and stars in the end there will be a new heaven and the new earth no more suffering or sorrow no more tears or pain a time when sin is no more a time when disease and affliction are no more a time when the lion lays down with the lamb and swords are beaten into plowshares a time when sin no longer exists in creation no longer decays a time when God Tabernacles with man dwells on the earth with man without the separating decaying presence of sin you
