Dr. Jamal H. Bryant, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE - September 16th, 2018

[Music] would you read silently as I read aloud meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came not only because of him but also to see Lazarus whom he had raised from the dead so the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well for an account of him many of the Jews who were going over to Jesus and believing in him let's look at that again 9 a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there so they showed up but he wasn't just Jesus they wanted to see they want to see Lazarus because they heard he rose from the dead when they found that out they immediately made plans not just to kill Jesus but to kill Lazarus too because so many people were now believing Jesus because they learned of Lazarus his testimony you may be seated I want to preach for a little while today using as a subject you don't know what you have you don't know what you have would you look at the person beside you tell them that's your problem you don't know what you have [Music] friends I was recently floored when I learned about a Florida woman by the name name of kanesha palsy right outside of Miami was pulled over by the police upon approaching the vehicle the officers claimed to detect a pungent scent of marijuana after searching for contraband they found a significant supply not just a weed but of cocaine miss Posey while getting handcuffs placed on them protested that the conjurer was in fact hers but the officers didn't understand that it was a windy day in Miami and her windows were down because the windows were down and it was a windy day the cocaine must have blown into her car and landed in her purse the officers did what you're doing now and in spite of her alibi she was charged with a felony count of cocaine possession the prosecution refused to play into her plaintive plea because in their estimation there was no way she didn't know what she had I remember a few years ago my dear covenant brother Mitchell William Murphy who came to national acclaim from the song praises what I do is being consecrated a bishop the Full Gospel Baptist Fellowship amazingly on the same day that he was being consecrated a bishop on that same day his CFO didn't show up for worship so he had to make the church's deposits to the bank because of the large sums of cash and skyrocketing crime he thought it prudent to take a firearm with him just in case something pops off by the grace of God all went well without a hitch that evening he had to fly out to do a concert in another city so after leaving the bank he headed straight to the airport everything was running smooth till he had to pass through security when his bag went through the x-ray his gun was detected alarms went off and the entire terminal was shut down they took the newly consecrated bishop away in handcuffs brought him into custody the press started rolling and his wife called me in a frantic pray for your brother he's in trouble and I asked First Lady Danielle what went wrong and she explained he was arrested at the airport for possession of a deadly weapon I retorted back why in the world was he carrying a weapon through the airport to which first lady Murphy responded he didn't know he had it on them I'm gonna say this just a few of you who are you in this room many more who are watching online who have no idea that's where you are right now you have been detained simply because you have failed to recognize what you carry Bishop Murphy had no issues in the parking lot he had no problems at the ticket counter the conflict only became apparent when he got close to taking off and many of you don't even realize that what is slowing you down in life his God is not going to allow you to take off until you know who you are and what you carry it is amazing that they never make you go through security when you land it is only when you are getting ready to elevate that higher level of security precautions are put in place because it is too dangerous of a risk to let people go high who still can't identify who they are and the question that I've got to ask you is do you know who you are and if you knew what you were carrying you would understand why there is such surveillance on your life I'm talking to 500 of you right here who don't even understand things have come to a screeching halt because you don't know how dangerous nineteen years if you were regular none of this would be happening to you people who don't carry your level of anointing can get away with anything but because you are annoying it you keep having to undergo security administration that go through x-rays not about what you are on the surface but what you have on the inside and the enemy knows how dangerous you are and he is afraid that you're gonna recognize and remember the assignment that you have on your life and when you do some stuff is don't get shut down there's too much stuff that you have allowed to persist and go forward why because you don't know who you are and you don't know what you carry when you know who you are and what you carry you ain't gonna put up with some foolishness because you understand that there is a standard of excellence that you require before people can go to the next level many of you really don't know what you are carrying why I need you to write this down because you are confused between a bless life and a burden free life you'll know who you are you'll know what you carry because you have confused a bless life with meaning of burden free life the opposite is true passion is what's this a level of love that makes you willing to suffer in order to reach your goal in it amazing that if you watch the movie The Passion of the Christ there are no satin sheets it's only a rugged cross pastor why you telling me that I'm telling you that because the root meaning of passion is to suffer so when God is interpreting your love for him he can only you'll love for him predicated on how much you are prepared to suffer with him if you have not really suffered you really don't know love the graduation of your relationship is not the first date when you feeling warm and fuzzy and got butterflies the real litmus test of how you love somebody is not in a hotel room but you really don't get when you love somebody until you have a fight in a fallout and figure out whether is worth it or not y'all ready saying nothing if you can just walk away at the first sign of trouble you really ain't feeling them like that but if you're willing to fight through all of the confusion and all of the backpedaling and say I'm really going to fight through this because I love you that much and can I tell you that's why I'm in church on Sunday morning because God had to fight through a whole lot of foolishness just to deal with somebody named Jim Albright some of y'all can sit there cuz you were born in the choir loft always been in church ain't never make no mistakes but I'm talking to those of us God had to go to the gutter to get us and in spite of that he loves us and you don't sit here as if you ain't never been through nothing and you ain't never dealt do anything but I need those that know if you slap up with him that's when you rain I want to say something that you probably haven't heard in church will be alien to your ears and foreign to your soul but I have the responsibility to announce it anyway your suffering excites God I just miss about your suffering excites God you see easy to worship Hill when you ain't dealing with nothing but when you're dealing with hell and high water and then spider that can say I will trust the Lord your suffering and he's able to tell how much you love if you ain't been through nothing shut up if you ain't lived through nothing have a seat but if you've been through some stuff and God watched you go through it and he waited awhile before you pulled you out of it and you still come the church that's how you know you love God my gentle Queen daughters are wrong then the seventh grade and I picked him up after the first week of school and they piled into my backseat and I asked them what what's your favorite class ain't you jumped in said my favorite class is math I said no way you got that gene from I pre registered for summer school I already knew how it was going down I said how in the world is math your favorite class an angel says I like math the best watch this because I'm the teachers favorite preachers I'm gonna say this to you and I hope that the larger church will be able to get it most adult Christians confuse favor for favoritism did you just miss that I enter my seventh graders until my brownie grows they confuse favor for favoritism we see favor what's this through the framework of favoritism and think is favor favor and each other here this is hardly seen or understood if you have faithful you are by virtue of the definition miss understood favor watch this is based in God's love while favoritism is based off of performance [Applause] best you got to break that down for me so angel is the teachers favorite why because she don't talk in class she's helpful she given out the the copies she's cleaning out the erasers so because she is compliant and submissive she is the teachers faithful now tomorrow if she goes in there with a whole different attitude it starts talking in class since that sit down to the principal's office she will lose the teachers favoritism because she is in the teachers heart based off of her performance she's receiving the faith the behavior is conditional I need you to get this favor favoritism is conditional I know you ain't never heard it like this favoritism is carnal favoritism I know you may blow your mind is manipulation y'all ain't gonna like it favoritism can I say it is demonic [Applause] so favoritism is reserved what is for the best looking for the most intelligent for the strongest for the richest for the most powerful favoritism creates a culture of rejection y'all hear what I just said favoritism creates a culture of rejection angel said man is my favorite class why cuz I'm the teachers favorite did you forget ain't you got an identical sister named adore adore said I hate man [Applause] why because it's become obvious that she is not the favorite what happens in church its folk did a little bit of favor and stop faking they better than other people god I can't hear nobody and it creates a spirit of competition that I am the favorite cuz I got a title I got a position cuz I got to sit up front so folk who love God hey Church thank you [Applause] they're not too many who can be the most beautiful who can be the most intelligent who can be the strongest and there are too many occupancies available for those who are not the it factor no the Nami y'all gonna get it and God releases faith for the people who are not the most I need the paper of God cuz I know I don't line up with your expectation but I doing this for you cuz I've been rejected my whole life but God I want you to say something just don't get in your spirit I'm telling you skip might change your whole perspective how much even lay hands on yourself I need you to repeat after your pastor save this out loud I am NOT the favorite but I got the favor did y'all hear what I just said I need you to lay that hand on yourself I need you to say it again I may not be the favorite but I've got the favor I need you to say one last time I may not be my family's favorite but I got God's feign [Applause] favoritism is because you are liked favor is because you're loved favoritism is because you are liked but favored because you are loved many of you who are in this room your vision boy your life projection you won't be like Rihanna you won't be like beyoncé it will be like Oprah I'll be like Michelle Obama Barack Obama those of you who came up to a Christian really told us you should have the patience of Joe prayer life for Daniel those you ought to be a good discipline follow the world like Paul your to withstand the fire like shed rain and then an amazing that in your entire Christian wall nobody ever told you to be like Lazarus but for those of us that will be honest Lazarus has never been our role model he hasn't been our exemplar it's not been a measuring rod and I'm trying to figure out why with all that God did in Lance's life why we don't want to emulate them it's because secretly and subconsciously we resent them and you've never recognized it the Bible says in John chapter 11 and I want you to hear it in John chapter 11 marry your mama send a message to Jesus come quick but the one you love is sick I told you when your loved you get favored and marry you Martha says come quick one you love you see now the translation says the one you love is dying and I hope you don't disrupt you're wrong when I give you this I find it unfortunate that I didn't find out that Jesus loved Lazarus until he got sick and this word ain't even for you is for family member this at home is sometimes God reveals his favor through sickness so he allowed your body to go through a challenge just just so that your body can be reminded of the Creator I know you don't need this word this is a word for somebody who you love who you care about who and you here that's going through a physical challenge in their bodies in their mind in their bloodstream in their breathing God God says I know they sick but I'm getting ready to show you favor in their sickness until y'all ain't shout why cuz you ain't got that level of faith to believe that God can show up in Hospice in a hospital room y'all ain't saying nothing that he can show up in dementia he can show up it can't suck he can show up in parallel paralysis he can show up in Alzheimer's and you don't sit there go see I know you just look for my favor in to fishing five loaves of bread but you don't know who I am to you in the bathing gig get out and you need assistance and I've gotta remind you to take your medication take you to therapy God said in your sickness I'll show you [Applause] it's um who you love yes and then he does something that upsets me it's gotta bother you is that he acknowledges that he loves them and lets sickness be in them and then takes his time I thought in my elementary understanding of favor that if I'm going through he rushes to me but Johnny Levin says if you really got faithful you gotta go through stuff longer than other people God kept me because he can trust you in the process babes in Christ they need a overnight miracle but those of us that have walked with God know she may not come when your water [Applause] hallelujah I need you to pull on that neighbor tell them I know it's been a minute but he's coming huh hallelujah know it ain't say I know it ain't right I know you should have been out of this man now I know you watch out - you the door help me but God's russia with love suffering to say four news school pants this is for the last of the old school y'all new school y'all got time out but I'm I'm talking to old school those of y'all who had to go pick a bill y'all ain't saying nothin who who had to go in the backyard and pull down the switch and if it was too thin you were in trouble yeah and you remember Big Momma Nana what his dad would say to you it's hurting me more than it's hurting you God says I know you're going through pain but you gotta go through this just because I love you so much [Applause] you don't know love of God until you've been sick you really don't know the favor of God until he makes you unnecessarily wait there was nothing holding God off he could have came immediately but when it comes to pay he takes his time good yummy I feel your tears right through here I'm talking to Nana y'all this they've been frustrated in your faith cuz you ain't got the breakthrough you ain't got the healing you ain't got the job you ain't got the opportunity and God said I'm sitting right here I wanna see how you respond when you don't get it in the time you thought you were gonna get it I I'm telling you acting like a spoiled brat that when you don't get it your way you having a temper tantrum your real faith is with it don't come on sketch I'm gonna make you go through it and here's the cut live all that many of you not going one take but I gotta give it to you something you keep telling people you favor you don't have it I'm blessed and highly think we didn't wear the low favor [Applause] blessed and highly favored I want to talk to somebody in this room about the problem of being favored and the problem of being loved by God yes sir the problem of being favored and the problem with being loved by God preachers you carry favor but he doesn't like touching you the Bible says that Jesus moved through the multitudes that were sick and he laid hands on them and they recovered yeah and he didn't love them he was just moved by compassion but when Lazarus is sick who he actually loves he gets to the cemetery I'm telling you just give me break a chain for somebody he gets to the cemetery and calls him Lazarus come forth this was crazy Lynette on people he didn't know he laid hands on yes people who he had no relationship with she denied their head with all you but people who he loves he don't touch them a lot instead of touching them he calls and I'm talking to somebody they've got a problem with God because lately you've been saying I don't feel nothing and God said your relationship with me can't be built on Felix it's gotta be built on what you heard and if you have me call your name I should have to touch you every Sunday you should be able to perspire know what you heard Jesus don't even help I'm Randall I'm talking to somebody in this room you're annoying it you got the love of God you got the fame of God but he ain't touched you lately you trying to figure out it's God distancing himself some praying you ain't hear nothing I'm worshiping and I'm experiencing nothing what is God odd with my relationship with God he said I needed to see whether you would worship me Jimmy for your call not for my touch it's Scimitar believers that need a massage it is Matar believers that need a message Hannity and I'm talking to somebody in this room that knows I'm grateful that I can still hear the voice of God even when I feel like I'm dying on the inside and the favor of God is I can hear him even when they don't touch me please can you claim the favor of God with no touch did the people in your life know how to love you without touching you whoo right through here for enzym in a traditional church context call and response and charismatic experiences ordinarily will you know Lazarus's story to end the preacher will call out that he'll you'll pull you out won't he do it they left pupil God's got you I know he's alright and there's usually they ended assignment and that friends is zone really just the Energon 11 and all of what I've given you this morning is um the introduction to a four-minute sermon because I now need you to turn the page to John 12 and in John 12 he is all that I was bringing you to know is that Lazarus gets up from the grave and when he gets up from the grave he starts traveling with Jesus and in all my times in the gospel my times delving into the Word of God I never noticed this is the Lazarus such traveling with Jesus the crowds grow yes every other time when Jesus has a crowd they'll tell you how many people would have yes sir five thousand four thousand this side watch this the crowd is so large that the Department of Parks and Recreation won't even put a number on it it's a large crowd and the text says in John 12 y'all not gonna believe it that the crowd is so big not just for Jesus they are coming to see Lazarus yes I'm telling you you don't even know it you are the draw yes sir [Music] you got people coming in every direction because of the way and the gravity of your testimony Jesus they can't believe you won't most died they can't believe you were left for dead they can't believe after all of the stuff that they heard about you you came out smelling like a rose there are whole lot of people that want to be with you in your resurrection that wouldn't be with you in your crucifixion god I can't hear nobody for God God says I'm getting better to give some Fairweather friends a front-row seat to see you make the greatest comeback in your life and you did it without their support you did it without their assistance and you didn't even without their prayer God said this is your year for trampoline your comeback game is get better to be so strong that don't know you for what you survived and they got now you know what you win know [Applause] and here's my problem friends I'm gonna let you go I need you to be seated - thirty of you I gotta show you this the fifty of you I gotta show you this I thought like you cuz I young I didn't understand favor [Music] I've had no idea what real favor was I thought John 11 when Jesus brings me out the grave that's my favor and I'm gonna live a blessed life and it's all happily ever after then I turn the page and get to John 12 and in John 12 y'all ain't gonna believe it here's what I found out for you favor wonders that because he survived they begin to plot to get him killed after I just survived the last chapter I should have to deal with nothing else but God said if you got paper every chapter your life you don't have to deal with something but no no I'm a bring you through it I want to say this and I'm no longer preachin to you doesn't even for you you leave get yourself gone I'm finished talking to you hi you're now preaching to the demons assigned to you if you will go get me you should have got me in the last chapter of my life but if I survive that whatever it is that you throw at me I know I'm more than a conqueror and I need somebody in this room that no you got I'll live every attack on your on your lift up that hand on finish your dad already [Music] I'll help me I feel your tears that's not even falling I better say it again just so there's the people in the back and him and you that died already and if that didn't kill you I don't know what the enemy is thinking but no weapon formed against you shall be able to prosper those of you that can thank God now that he's saving your life I need you to open up your mouth egg thank you for the favor you didn't even understand that I need you to thank you for the love you don't deserve I need you to praise him for the mercy that is new every morning hand is lifted I want to pray for you the enemy's trying to figure out how to kill you this week [Music] all some of the enemy was working on destroying you you don't even know how you have not gone crazy you don't know how you ain't better how you not angry how you're not vengeful God said did you forget already brought you through the worst chapter you hear in this room and you can hear me yeah in this room and you can hear me with everything that's in you same pass I didn't know if it was me but I feel like everything is he's trying to tear me apart trying to destroy me there's I love God but I feel distant cuz he ain't been touching me but I need to know that he's gonna bring me through this chapter [Music] those of you who are in this room here you feel like the enemy has taken out a contract on your life on your family on your children on your marriage on your sanity on your heart that's where you are want to build the hedge fence of protection around you that's where you are need you to do whatever you can to get to this altar please I know he's trying to kill you I know he's trying to take you out I know that this has the potential to be your undoing I need you here they enemy can't stand you but guess what we can't stand your ether I know this is a rough word I know that this is heavy but sometimes you don't know favor till you see you don't know the grace of God until he don't show up [Music] I need somebody's handing young [Music] I want you to think it's just you I feel like there are people in this room who have misunderstood the favor of God the grace of God today you get your head back on [Music] whoever's hand you holding if you add the salt to squeeze that hand and tell them you got God's favor sometimes God takes the long way just to prove he don't work for you he don't owe you a blessed thing a seminary professor dr. Samuel Proctor say we think God is a cosmic bellhop he's just supposed to show up and carry our baggage and I pray for every person who's at this altar has we cover your life that this week with different ears you will receive the favor of God not just for you I pray it I hope y'all a shout about it I speak favor over whoever in your family is sick but they will feel the grace of God that they'll know the love of God I'll speak over every person who's been battling with the spirit of rejection from family from friends from loved ones but God said I need you to know today you may not be their favorite but you carry my favor may the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob can I add this and Lazarus release favor over your life then no matter what tries to kill you it will have no success and those of you your faith comes into alignment with that of your pastor will you give God your best shelter Thanksgiving now come on [Music] I can't hear you said give God your still they say it nothing give God your best shout [Music] whether you add the assaulter whether you'd accentuate whether you're watching online I want you to move to this place I want you to embrace three people that tell them you carry the favor of God [Music] that's what you Karen you'll know what you got the fame of God is on you [Music] the favor of God [Music]
