DJI FPV Drone Range Test to 0% In The RAIN! - How Far Will It Go? (N Mode Standard Controller)

nothing happened yet it's not going down it's ten percent i gotta oh sh oh crap oh crap hey guys thanks for tuning in check it out it's the dji fpv drone today we're going to be doing a range test an initial range test here in hawaii on maui i'm going to fly out this way off of haleakala mountain just to see what kind of range we can get today today is just going to be with the regular controller in normal mode i also have the motion controller here so we're going to be doing another range test with the motion controller and then we're also going to be putting this thing into sport mode and seeing of course it's going to fly faster take some more power but we want to just see how far we can go in each of these modes with both controllers there is a playlist i have on this drone go ahead and check it up here link will pop up here also in the description down below you can check out all the videos i have for the fpv drone so this is going to be a fun one today i'm just going to be recording my goggles so you can see what the quality of signal is here in the goggles and also be recording the 4k 60 on board of the actual drone so you can see what the camera's seeing too and then we're going to see how the quality is of this as we get out of distance and also i'm going to be telling you how the control is as i fly out at distance so this is going to be fun let's go ahead and get this thing powered up and get out there and do a range test [Music] okay guys here we go so everything just got booted up as you can see i've got the goggles here so i'm going to be talking to you through this flight now the sun is kind of in this direction it's about 4 or 5 p.m so you really want to make sure you don't put the goggle lenses in the sun right so always keep them away from the sun anyway i have a great connection here we got 26 satellites and 100 charge so let me get these goggles on and let's go so what's gonna happen is i have this thing set to uh start recording when it launches so let's see if that works yeah 27 satellites so that's going to be plenty and let's see if everything's recording yep all right so don't want to waste any time let's get up here and get going we're just lifting off home point has been updated and let's go so i have an n on the left part of my screen and so i'm just gonna fly nice and easy out here um i'm gonna be pushing full speed forward here and i don't want to fly over any houses so okay so i'm trying to go we're like right in between the houses here trying to do everything as much as possible don't wanna land on anybody so i'm gonna go straight out i'm gonna go a little bit higher we're up at about 90 feet so i'm gonna get going a little bit higher here i want to get going maybe about 200 feet so i'm just slowly gaining signal as i'm going up so i'll have the uh video of the goggles and also the drone up on the screen so you guys can see both things here okay there's like one house i'm going over and then we'll be nice and clear so we'll leave it up at about 230 feet okay i'm going to stand up here turn off my hat cam save the power in that and i'm just going to kind of stand up from the bench i'm sitting at i have a direct line of sight to the drone so um there's really no excuse for it to have anything but perfect signal okay i'm gonna start calling out some information on the screen here um i got 90 battery left on the drone uh my hd signal dropped to three bars my rc signal is four bars and these are going to be both out of five and uh every once in a while i'm seeing some kind of like speckle on the screen and i think that's rain i honestly think we're getting through some rain guys look at this you're gonna see it on the camera i'm gonna move the gimbal up and down do you see that sparkle on the screen that's rain so we're actually going through a little bit of a rainstorm here and um okay so 87 on the drone 30 satellites now what a great day for for gps so in full speed for it i got to tell you how fast i've been going through this whole flight so far so 33 miles per hour is how fast normal mode is going right now i do have a breeze from my front right just a little bit you can see how it's tilted to the right just a tad and the mountain is going to go slope down here so i'm just pointing my head straight at the drone as good as possible now remember this is all stock everything's stock here stock controller stock controller antenna we're in end mode stock antennas on the goggles the goggles are in high quality mode which will allow us for that 4k 60 recording you can also do a low latency mode for like racing but then the resolution goes down on the drone um 234 feet high starting to get oh high wind velocity warning on the goggles on the bottom right there and um rc signal is still four and hd signal is three i'm just standing up right here my goggles are 52 power i didn't even charge it from my last uh initial flight test if you guys want to see that go ahead and check the uh playlist of this thing on it test it in the park with both controllers just flying around see how it is go check all that stuff out but let's see what our distance is okay we're getting some pretty gnarly wind here to our front right and you can see the drone tilting to the right to compensate and so i'm glad it's coming at me because you wanted to come at you on the way out and go with you on the way home we're already at 11 500 feet guys so effectively just about two miles so far that was quick huh and i just want to see i'm pointing everything straight at the drone looking at it pointing my controller at it i'm going to scroll the gimbal down okay i don't know if you can see that in the view but i can see a propeller on the right hand side just barely in my goggles so um you know you'll be telling me what you guys can see and how good the quality is but i haven't had a hiccup yet in the goggles initially i did think that there was some sparkling some problem with the goggles but that was just the rain so we did fly through some raindrops on the way out but look at this wind so it's really coming from the the front right so i'm gonna have to be careful on the way home i'm gonna turn a little bit to the right here low battery rth in eight seconds press start stop to cancel oh it wants to go into rth so we still have 71 percent battery um i think i want to stop that guys so i'm going to press start stop here on the top button of the controller and look at that i just turned it off and i'm going to go full forward back out manually so so what was happening is this thing basically is reading the amperage that it's uh taking right and it's if it thinks like it's sucking too much power on the way out it's going to calculate its return at that same average so i know i have wind coming at it to headwind so i should be okay on the way back there's some more rain check it out holy smokes see if we can get some drops on the camera um so far no problems at all with connection or anything yeah there's some little rain squalls out there anyway 65 on the battery i wish i could have this up on the screen for you guys but i can't record the goggles so you can't see um we're past three miles now 17 000 oh there's a raindrop that just dropped on the camera so it's really raining on it out there right now you can probably see the raindrops and everything so i'm going to keep the camera just straight ahead here um probably turn around maybe at uh 55 just to be safe we're gonna have some wind towards our back but look at this rain it's just pouring on it now so here we go range test in the rain is what you're getting today look at this hopefully you can see that in the video i'll have both videos up again my hd signal is two bars now so it's a little bit orange but it still looks fine in the goggles i'll have that up rc signal is still three bars and as you can see i'm moving this gimbal up and down and it's just working perfectly even though we have rain dropping on it it's so this will let you know how this thing can do in the rain too uh 20 000 feet so 5280 feet is one mile so if we can reach that times four we'll have gone four miles i think i'll turn around at about um maybe two thousand [Music] five hundred well i wanna oh there's another drop right in the camera pick that up so you can see that rain coming down yeah i'm going to be hitting return to home pretty soon here 55 54 and we're 21 22 000 feet away still going at 33 miles per hour so still at two 234 feet of height i'll tell you what i'm just gonna go to 2300 feet and then i'm going to hit return home so we're 22.80 2300 and we're 52 power i'm going to stop and hold in that button on the left of the controller that says return to home okay awesome so it's kicked in we're at 50 power okay so we really are pushing this one as soon as i turned around the rc signal went down to two bars it was three bars so a little bit of a little less connection link with the front facing you i'm still standing in the same spot and i'm starting to get a little nervous again ah because now i'm feeling some wind coming from my right oh boy okay so this might be another um gut wrencher right still some rain on it i see some sprinkles coming on it and i'm seeing the h right where my home is in the screen so this thing is pretty awesome [Music] even though i'm kind of nervous on this one about getting home uh i can see all the numbers so we i think we almost went four miles all i've had when we turned around oh i've had the total mileage and we got up there quick right because usually i just turned my head over so i'll have had that recording up okay so so basically no droppage in video signal it barely lost any resolution and i'll have had that up through the whole flight but i'm seeing my goggles as far as the video again i can't show you all this telemetry and stuff on the screen but um 40 power and we're still 18 000 feet away my gosh and it's still raining on it i'm seeing some sprinkles yeah you can see the water in the screen here just flying over vacant land this is all auto settings on the camera but i can tell look at this so me adjusting what i did i adjusted the camera and advanced settings in the goggles you can go into um [Music] ah what is it fish eye correction or field of view correction and that basically took out the fisheye so what you'll notice in my original park flight test is i didn't do anything i just used it stock how it came and so for this flight i took out that uh distortion correction well i put on the distortion correction so i'm not seeing any as much propellers in the screen so that's good so you guys tell me what you think in the comments down below how that looks compared to my first flight test um again getting a little nervous 33 power and i just held the arch the controller up because my rc signal was at two bars and it went up to three still right at that bench just sitting here um my goggles are 46 power the drone is only 32 percent power it says it has five minutes of flight time left so man i hope it does make it home so we're flying just over the bottom of this subdivision right here and i still have full control so no problem with control on this thing and video signal as long as you have this clear line of sight so literally you could be flying like you know as far as you want um of course interference like electromagnetic interference and stuff is gonna have some issues with it there's still like a raindrop on the top of the screen there you can see that kind of flickering there you can see it there in the uh the video as i put it on the grass but 27 power and about two miles away from my home still at the same 234 feet height in normal mode okay guys so um really quick i just want to try something we're going 30 miles per hour home i just want to push forward on the right stick it sped it up so that's sped it up to 33 okay i'm gonna let off again so it seems like what's happening is it's flying home at the most efficient speed it thinks it can fly at which is 30 miles per hour so i'm just gonna leave it if i need to push it i will but look at this we're just flying over vacant land everything is still doing great you can see that wind kind of blowing at it in the goggle view there's a jacaranda right in that valley look at that that purple jacaranda tree isn't that beautiful just tilting the camera down look at these uh river valleys let's see if it changes the speed if i tilt all the way down [Music] nope remember the mavic mini went down and speed to like 10. this is still maintaining 30 miles per hour even though i have the camera tilted down i'm going to tilt back up jeez i only got 19 power left and we're still freaking far away oh okay i'm gonna get this okay we might need to search for this one again i gotta use that possibly that find my drone this also has find my drone technology where it just saves the gps point and you can connect to like i could connect to my phone and um with my phone wireless and i could load in the maps and i can find the last point like we did with that mini remember that mini 2 test with the mini one battery i had to go and bail on that and it was um i don't know about a half mile away 13 power guys i'm seeing that h right where my home is goggles are looking fantastic through this whole flight nice and clear and i'm still six thousand four hundred feet away whoo man can we make it at twelve percent and make up sixty two hundred feet i just hope it doesn't start landing at ten percent we'll see what happens critical low aircraft landing nothing happened yet it's not going down it's 10 percent i gotta oh oh crap oh crap okay now i'm pushing up it's wanting to go down [Music] so i'm pushing up on it and i'm pushing forward are we gonna have to bail in the same spot i really don't want to let's just see if we can make it home seven percent power i'm holding up i'm maintaining it 167 feet height and i still got like over half a mile left to go so oh man this is exactly where i bailed the last one so i might need to bail this one right on this road see that container down there i think i might bail it right where that container is because i'm three percent right now or maybe it might be a little safer to go right here in this field still pushing up two percent five seconds left of life kind of going over somebody's driveway what should i do zero percent power and i'm still pushing up man yeah you know what i'm gonna land it right here so you see where i am i'm just gonna come down and land it because i'm zero percent power and hopefully you guys can see all this going on i'm just gonna kind of go right here where there's not really anybody around and where i'll be able to find it right man i wish i could see down a little better but this is great i can still see very clear i can kind of see where i'm going to land it you see this i'm just gonna land it like right by these pipes right here still very clear right here okay here we go camera up wow okay that's it let's go get it okay guys that's how you safely bail when you're doing range tests like this as you know i pushed it a little far and i want to get out there as soon as possible so nothing happens to it you can probably hear the nervousness in my voice right now that's because i am quite dang nervous that time i i landed like right by the road though so that's good it's gonna be pretty easy to find it okay let's go get this thing man that was nerve-racking whoops so this would be a good example of how you how you find your drone right okay boy never a dull moment in these range tests oh man okay so i'm pretty sure i know which street it's on okay so if you're gonna go if you're gonna push it you know what to expect you know i could have come closer you know but um it comes to a point where you just want to choose an area to land because you don't want it to like eventually run out of power and fall right you want to be able to land safely so i think i pretty much waited to zero percent to even start landing and you can see how safe that is i could man that occu sync what is it 3.0 that stuff was awesome i i could even see it clearly landing all the way till i touch the ground there's that rain look at this it's oh crap so it's raining on the drone possibly right now no try to load up this find my drone thing to make sure i'm on the right road here okay so i'm turning the tethering on on my phone the wi-fi tethering then i want to make sure that my ipad mini can connect yep okay so we're connected and now i'm going to take my ipad cable here right geez i'm nervous this is nervous i'm nervous sorry guys i'm just nervous looking the goggles and i just have like a blank splash screen so i'll plug in the goggles here i'm gonna start the dji fly app i don't have my screen recording right now but i'm just gonna kind of let you see this so i have the goggles plugged in to this and i have this on the internet so profile okay so i own in the profile and i'm gonna click find my drone now the controller is going all crazy okay well there it is you see in my hat cam okay controller i just moved the stick and it stopped beeping there so let's go into mixed so i can see pulling the satellites so what's happening is this is online guys this i have it tethered to my phone right and look that's exactly where i landed excellent this is fantastic so that's where i am now i'm just at that corner see hopefully you can see to my hat cam because i'm not recording this but here you go good reason to take your ipad with you and some kind of or iphone or your phone and have some kind of connection to do this because this is going to save me i think so i'm just gonna cruise slowly down the road but it's kind of raining on it bummer we'll see how it lasts right so another another find my drone adventure with uh this channel so getting really close you can see how there's the drone and there i am this right here is the the barn i'm at so i want to go down just a little bit that's why you want to be careful so you should have somebody with you right but i don't doing this on my own so coming back up the road and yeah i'm in the spot so it should be just over this bank like right there see if i can find it take you guys with me i guess yeah it should be right over here i think i went past this um see this big piece this big thing of grass right here i remember landing like right oh there it is right there yeah man so there it is it tipped a little forward but and it got a little dirty but man now find my drone works so good so this thing's completely off right so the entire thing turned off hopefully it saved all that video it said it stopped recording got a couple nicks on the propellers here but jeez you know at least i'm getting the drone back right so that was it guys that was the range test if you lose your drone now you know what to do right try to find a place to bail i mean it will fly past zero percent apparently it just starts dropping and you gotta hold up the throttle remember i was holding up the throttle and i still have this controller on but you can see it's disconnected because the power is completely gone look at that pushing at one time we're getting the the slow blink but this thing this thing just like other dji drones guys um you can count on it to fly past zero percent find a place to land land link to your goggles so make sure you have a cable to link to your goggles so it can kind of download um the last known location which it already did really helps of course the only way i would have found it was to have these maps to be able to bring in ipad not so good on its its little gps antenna but i am in the car so you see it's giving me a big circle of where i am but it man it really pinpointed that drone though pretty dang close i mean probably a little few feet um out in the road it shows but it was within like a few feet man i got that location perfect so missing duration we got it within 10 minutes it's not wet this thing worked fantastic i believe it went close to four miles i'll have had that up on the screen i did turn off like all the lights i had these lights off remember i had it in the narrower field of view to take out the distortion and it was filming in 4k 60 frames per second these goggles as well these were filming at their high definition 1080 capability so i've had that screen up there as well so you can see if there was any dropouts or any kind of breakup which i didn't see anything but held up to some rain out there all i gotta do i'm probably gonna change the two front props i came down it let me land i was looking down next range test remember guys we're gonna do the motion controller and i'm also gonna do it in sport mode just to see how fast we can go it's going to chew up like way more power but at least we're going to be able to get out there faster and i'm definitely going to turn around probably like at 55 guaranteed because i went just to about 50 on this and it just didn't make it back so keep in mind this is only the second charge on this battery though with lithium polymer and lithium ion batteries if you get about 10 charges in them then they're reaching their ultimate like capacity so i bet you if i had like 10 cycles on it i probably would have made it back so just keep that in mind but two cycles that's what you can expect got my drone back i'm super stoked there's no rocks in the motors it rained on it it seems like it can handle a little bit of rain so water resistant quote unquote i would say i mean i know that dji coats all their components now with like a waterproof coating but i definitely wouldn't dunk this thing in the water but it seems like a little rain is not going to hurt it man don't forget all the stuff i review is down below didn't look like it's going to have as much range because this one has a better antenna right the motion controller has the antenna right in the controller so we're gonna see how far that one goes and
