hey guys Stefan - here and today I'm going to walk you through how to animate your character in da studio leveraging the pose tool in this tutorial we're going to cover three things one the function of the pose tool - how to animate the body and three using the post sliders for efficient adjustments let's get started make sure you have a figure in your scene then in order to get the pose tool we need to select any part of the body and you will automatically see a ball appear in the top left corner of your viewport how the ball works is when you click a specific body part and then drag the ball you will create a body movement that mirrors the motion you are making with the ball the three rings around the ball isolate each individual axis rotation but will only rotate as much as that body part allows now let's click the person animation icon and click restore figure pose to set her back to her original position I'm going to show you how to do a morning Yong pose first I'm going to select her abdomen hold down shift and click for all items through head then I'm going to change my number of frames from 30 to 90 and then I'm going to move out to frame 5 then while still keeping everything selected go back to the ball and make a small movement then let's go to frame 25 and let's click and drag the ball and you can see all the bones are being affected by that movement let's move forward to get in our timeline and give her stretch back the other way and finally let's go to frame 80 and restore figure pose now hit the play button to see how the animation is coming along looking good okay now let's address the arms so what I'm going to do is select her shoulder and then hit control and select and click all the other parts of her arm and confirm you have them all selected to the top right corner in the scene tab then let's move to frame 25 and go up to our ball and drag it to give her some good arm movement move forward again and leverage the ball to move her arms again now let's hit play now let's do the hands select her hands and then go to the posing tab on the bottom right hand side and click on pose control and that the first frame I'm going to take the right hand fist and dial it to a hundred percent and then let's do the same for the left hand now let's go to frame 50 and move the fist all the way down and spread the fingers out and let's do that again for both the right and left hand and now hit the play button to see how it feels at frame 80 I think we should make her hands feel it's had more natural so I'm going to go back to the pose controls and finesse the left and right hand grasp and then let's also move the arm placement so they have just a little bit closer to her body and now let's play it through a few times at frame 50 it looks like our grasp was already animating up so we should probably reset that back to zero so let's go back to our post controls and with the alt button pressed click on the white text to set it back to zero and now let's do it for her right hand as well let's play through one more time perfect a nice morning stretch I would then start to animate her legs as well leveraging the pose tool but you guys probably have the gist by now and that is how you use the postal as a reminder we covered one the function of the pose tool to how to animate the body 3 using the post sliders for efficient adjustments hope this was helpful thanks for listening
