Yoyoka, did you have fun last time you were? [SPEAKING JAPANESE] Yes. [LAUGHTER] And what I didn't ask you the last time is when did you learn how to play drums? How old were you? And why did you start? [SPEAKING JAPANESE] [SPEAKING JAPANESE] [LAUGHTER] So she started playing the drums since she was two. Wow. And she taught herself. But she doesn't know how to read music. Because she's a little too lazy. [LAUGHTER] Wow. I don't think you're lazy. And who is one of your favorite-- who do you like as drummers? Who's your favorite? [SPEAKING JAPANESE] [SPEAKING JAPANESE] Dave Grohl. I heard it, Dave Grohl. Dave Grohl, she has a lot of favorites. But that's her favorite in the rock genre. Yeah, he's pretty good. He's really good. OK, and what do you like about Dave Grohl? What's the best thing about him? Dave Grohl [SPEAKING JAPANESE] [SPEAKING JAPANESE] Uh-huh. [LAUGHTER] So she loves the sound that his drums make it. She thinks it's really cool. And she thinks that he has a really heavy groove. Yeah, he does have a heavy groove. All right, and you went to New York. And what surprised you about New York when you went there? [SPEAKING JAPANESE] [SPEAKING JAPANESE] So there was a lot of different smells in New York, good ones, bad ones. Yes. [LAUGHTER] And she was really surprised on how big the beds were in New York. And the one she saw in her hotel that she was staying in was the biggest bed she's ever seen in her life. Oh, wow. That must have been a big bed. [SPEAKING JAPANESE] [LAUGHTER] Wow, yes. It's is a nice-sized bed. [SPEAKING JAPANESE] You could sleep standing up against that wall, too, if you wanted to. [LAUGHTER] [SPEAKING JAPANESE] [LAUGH] [LAUGHTER] All right. So here's something that you want to teach me. Is this what you want to teach me? [SPEAKING JAPANESE] Hai. OK. What happens? [SPEAKING JAPANESE] [SPEAKING JAPANESE] This is a kendama. It's a traditional Japanese game. OK. [SPEAKING JAPANESE] [APPLAUSE] [LAUGHTER] All right, all right. [LAUGHTER] [CHEERING] This is stupid. [LAUGHTER] All right, so the last time you were here-- see, what happens is, we interview you ahead of time and ask questions of what things that you like. And then I pretend like I don't know. And I ask you questions out here. And this-- we'll explain all of this later. But this is what happened last time she was here. And then what kind of instrument do you want to learn how to play next? [SPEAKING JAPANESE] She wants to know how to play the guitar and the bass. That's not what I was hoping she would she. [SPEAKING JAPANESE] Ask her some other instruments. [SPEAKING JAPANESE] No. [LAUGHTER] That's it? Does she like a xylophone? [LAUGHTER] [SPEAKING JAPANESE] She doesn't want to learn it. [LAUGHTER] Does she want to look at one? [LAUGHTER] [APPLAUSE] There you go! All right, so we thought that you wanted to learn the xylophone. [SPEAKING JAPANESE] No? [SPEAKING JAPANESE] She did want it. Oh, good. So have you used it? Have you learned? [SPEAKING JAPANESE] [SPEAKING JAPANESE] Yeah, she's using it every day. Oh, well, that's wonderful. Because I was going to take it back. That's good. [SPEAKING JAPANESE] Look at that! That's fun, right? [SPEAKING JAPANESE] All right. [APPLAUSE] Here to perform "The Pretender" by Foo Fighters, nine-year-old drummer Yoyoka. [MUSIC - FOO FIGHTERS, "THE PRETENDER"] (SINGING) Keep you in the dark. And so it all began. The need you buried deep, the secrets that you keep are ever ready. Are you ready? I'm finished making sense, done pleading ignorance. That whole defense. Spinning infinity, boy. The wheel is spinning me. It's never-ending, never-ending. Same old story. What if I say I'm not like the others? What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays? You're the pretender. What if I Say I'll never surrender? What if I say I'm not like the others? What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays? You're the pretender. What if I say I will never surrender? So who are you? Yeah who are you? Yeah who are you? [APPLAUSE] So good! [SPEAKING JAPANESE] So good. All right, earlier, you said Dave Grohl was one of your favorite drummers. So take a look here. Hey, Yoyoka. This is Dave Grohl from The Foo Fighters. I've seen you play "The Pretender" before. And you're amazing. So keep it up, because the world needs more drummers. [APPLAUSE] All right. Also, while you're here, we want to give you four VIP passes to go to Universal Studios. And then you're going to go-- [APPLAUSE] [SPEAKING JAPANESE] Hi, I'm Andy.
