Kid Drummer Yoyoka Soma Gets a Present She'll Never Forget

Our next guest is just nine years old, and her drumming skills are so insane that we flew her all the way from Japan to be here today. Here to perform "Stone Cold Crazy" by Queen, please welcome Yoyoka. [APPLAUSE] [MUSIC - QUEEN, "STONE COLD CRAZY"] Sleeping very soundly on a Saturday morning, I was dreaming I was Al Capone. There's a rumor going around. Gotta clear out of town. Yeah, smelling like a dry fish bone. Here come the law, gonna break down the door, gonna carry me away once more. Never, I never, I never want it anymore. I've gotta get away from the stone cold law. Crazy. Stone cold crazy. Walking down the street shooting people that I meet with my rubber tommy water gun. Here come the deputy, he's trying to come and get me. I got get to get up and run. They got the sirens loose. I ran right out of juice. They're gonna put me in a cell if I can't go to heaven, well then let me go hell. Crazy. Stone cold crazy, you know. [APPLAUSE] Hi! Hi! Hi, how are you? I'm fine. I'm so happy to meet you. Hi. Hi. What is your name? Anna. Nice to meet you. Hi, Anna. Nice to meet you. OK. This is very exciting. First of all, I love how you're so happy when you play the drums. Thank you! Yeah. [LAUGHTER] So this is your first time in the United States? [SPEAKING JAPANESE] Yes. And you traveled with your family? [SPEAKING JAPANESE] Yeah. How was that? [SPEAKING JAPANESE] She's having so much fun, but it's really hot, and her little brother Chito is really annoying. Oh. [LAUGHTER] That's what little brothers do. That's what they're for. [SPEAKING JAPANESE] [LAUGHTER] So what did you do in LA? [SPEAKING JAPANESE] She hasn't really done anything yet, but she wants to perform in a bar. Oh. [LAUGHTER] Have you been in a bar ever? [SPEAKING JAPANESE] Yeah, she's played at a bar like 150 times. Wow. [SPEAKING JAPANESE] That's amazing. What's the strangest thing that you've seen when you're in a bar? [SPEAKING JAPANESE] Her parents don't drink, so it was her first time seeing a drunk person at a bar. So she was really shocked, and she was like, what is this? Yes. That's what happens in bars. [LAUGHTER] [SPEAKING JAPANESE] So what is your favorite band. [SPEAKING JAPANESE] She loves Led Zeppelin and Stray Cats. Wow, that's great, and Led Zeppelin. That's very cool. All right, we're going to take a break and we'll be right back. I understand something under here is for me? She brought something for me. [SPEAKING JAPANESE] OK, let's see what it is. Oh, what does this say? [SPEAKING JAPANESE] Ellen. Oh, that's my name. [SPEAKING JAPANESE] Yeah. Thank you very much. That's beautiful. Did you do this on your own? [SPEAKS JAPANESE] Wow. That's beautiful. Thank you. [APPLAUSE] And we think it's hard to teach our kids just the-- I mean, that's really intricate. You know, we're taking her word. We don't know what this says. This could say-- Thank you so much. And I want to give you a gift. What kind of instrument do you want to learn how to play next? [SPEAKING JAPANESE] She's naming a lot of instruments. I just want to give her one. What is she saying? So she says she doesn't really want to learn it, but she wants to know how to play the guitar and the bass. Oh. Huh? That's not what I was hoping she would say. [SPEAKING JAPANESE] Ask her some other instruments. [LAUGHTER] No. That's it? [LAUGHTER] Does she like a xylophone? [SPEAKING JAPANESE] She doesn't want to learn it. Does she want to look at one? [LAUGHTER] [SPEAKING JAPANESE] OK. Bring them out! [APPLAUSE] Yeah! There we go. All right.
