in more events than anybody else. I compete to be
the best there is. And I compete in these
competitions to prove that we are the best
there are. Okay, you're in. And it's just something
that drives me. I can't explain it. This wall will probably
explain it better. This is who I am. You are recognized in your world as being the best there is. And there's no greater feeling. Orlando, 1995. Calgary in '97. Indianapolis, 2001. Couple more first place
back in '94. That one's in '96. Last year, we took second place
to San Antonio. I really would like
to win this one here. And we've got the team
that can do it. (doctor)

get it healed between now and then. Just let me take a look

When I was little, I spent a lot of time
going into hospitals, visiting my mother. beep! She was just slowly eaten up
by cancer. That's probably why--why I don't
come to these places too often. We got the results. Okay... you got kind of a stress
reaction, like a fracture. In other words, a broken bone. So if you stay off of it as much as possible,
very minimal weight-bearing. I can't lay off my foot. I just can't. I can't.
I mean, there's no way that I-- If you do go on it,
you go to Las Vegas, you do your competition, you could fracture your bone
all the way through. My advice to you is not to do
the competition, 'cause I wouldn't want to risk
reinjuring myself. It's broken. The break looks to be between
two and three months old. He doesn't really want me
to run right now. But I can't just not run. So...[laughs] I have to run. So you still think
you're going to compete with a broken foot. It's not so bad that-- the pain's not so unbearable
that I can't deal with it. I mean, hell, I've been
running as it is. It doesn't matter
what I say 'cause I know
you're going to-- you're going to run on it

agg assault, shooting,
fighting with the police. They're gonna have guns on them. We're going out to do a drive-by
on the suspect's apartment to see how we're gonna hit it. Try to stay covert. When they start talking about
one of their main targets being involved in murders,
fighting the police, that kind of ramps you up
a little bit. They're bad guys. There's a lot of lookouts, or what we call "good eyes"
in the area. Looks like some of them
might be armed. We're trying to figure out
an approach that would be best

My hands are sweating. Good morning.
Good morning. Everybody knows that you've got
to beat San Antonio in order to win this. They're the defending champions. And maybe the only advantage
we might have over San Antonio is, we might
be a little more seasoned. And that's just because
we're older. I think we're good to go, guys. I really do. Dallas first! (Cockerill)
On a six-man relay, the first shooter's
going to take off. He's going to jump over
an eight-foot wall. That launches the team. They go through a high hurdle to a shooting position. Once they're through there,
they do a rescue on a dummy, take the dummy back through
the course, and then everybody rallies
up to the finish line. Come on! If Robert were to injure
his foot, it'd be tough to replace him. We did have to do that
in Orlando a couple years ago when he went down. And we ended up in 13th place. So... [grunting] Let's go, Dallas! Move on! Get him up, guys. (man)
Time! 6:45. [cheering] (Cockerill)
My foot's not bothering me
right now. Did it aggravate it
a little bit? Yeah, it did. It's not like it's going
to keep me out. I'll just have to lace the boot
up a little bit tighter. We are tied for second
right now. That was bad. Miss, miss, miss. That right there
is going to bump us down so far. (Teresa)
Yeah, that's Dallas. Oh, yeah,
there he is. How'd you do
on the other ones this morning? As a team, we've been
dropping off steady. It's getting worse. I don't know what to do.
I really don't. I'm at a loss. (Teresa)
He's not happy. [sighs] (Cockerill)
I've tried so hard
to make the right decisions. And I think everybody
on the team is looking up for me
to make the right decisions. I really feel like that if
the team fails, it's my fault that they failed. The chances for us to win
this thing, I think they're slipping away. It's slipping away. And it's getting to a point
to where it's going to be a matter
of pride. And we got to start pushing
a little bit harder, run a little bit faster, and shooting a whole lot
cleaner. How's your daughter doing? (Emberlin)
She got caught tearing a note up
after school yesterday. Good note
or bad note? Oh, bad note
from a teacher. Talking in class.
Probably. [phone rings] This is Steve. We could probably be there
in 15 minutes. (Claggett)
Let's go. I've been on SWAT for 14 years. I'm on the entry team,
which means we go inside, and we secure the place. This is one of these kind
of operations where time's critical. If we get there too late, the guy gets away, so... everybody's got to respond
quickly. Why do I always have to ride
in back? I called shotgun. [laughs] So what's the guy
wanted for? They've got warrants
for this guy for manufacturing meth. (Emberlin)
We're heading to a part of town
that's-- it's a pretty quiet
neighborhood. So it's an area where a drug
dealer or a manufacturer could kind of stay
under the radar. We want to get this real bad, because if this guy's
manufacturing, he can put a lot of dope
on the street. Meth cooks are generally known
as being very tweaked up I think is the term
they use, which means paranoid
and suspicious. Weapons are definitely probable
in a situation like this. Suspect's going to be
a white male. He's in an apartment
on the back side in case you see somebody
bail and run. The potential for violence
is always there, so... We're going to the back door. We've got the other guys
covering the other door. That's our target apartment
right there. So we're basically going
to surround the place, knock on the door,
and have him come to the door. [knocking] [banging] 42 to 44,
we're at the back door. We don't see
any movement inside. Hold this for a minute. Hold this, guys. I'll be right back. (Emberlin)
We're going to go check
the front area of the apartment. [knocking] A lot of these meth dealers have a lot of friends
hanging around waiting for the cook to finish,
so... [dog barking] You never know what to expect. Hey, pup.
[whistling] Out of there, puppy.
Come on. Come on outside.
Come on outside. There you go. (Claggett)
When we go into an apartment
or structure, the first thing that we're
looking for is to secure it
as quickly as we can. When we go into a place, we're looking for active
standing threats, and then from there, our second phase is to look for
people that are hiding from us. We got good PC. We got glassware in this room
for a lab. There's a box right there that's got some high-dollar
glassware in there. I mean,
extremely expensive stuff. Single-neck beakers and things
like that for cooking methamphetamine. He's got the setup to make
a large quantity of methamphetamine. Our suspect's still at large,
and we're still chasing him. We're fairly certain that he's
still in the vicinity. One of my guys just radioed in, said he saw our suspect go into
one of the vacant apartments. [man over radio]
Brown shorts, blue shirt. Don't move! (man)
You guys got him? (Emberlin)
The suspect, Richard Wisk,
panicked, I think, when he saw our squad cars or us and ran to this vacant
apartment. The apprehension
was pretty quick. (Claggett)
You rely heavily
And on your partners, and that's the whole concept
behind SWAT. And anything short of that, we take the risk of losing, so and we cannot, in our job,
lose. The price is too high. So are you ready
for a little culture? I think I am. Can you handle it? I have to.
It's where you're going. You would truly rather be
called out than sit and enjoy Swan Lake? Absolutely. [laughing] At least I hope they wait

putting forth the effort to go see Swan Lake. [laughing] (Emberlin)
When I first met Jeannene,
I had my doubts about whether a relationship
with her would work out. And sometimes I still do, because we come from pretty
diverse backgrounds. And sometimes that's hard

entirely different from people I run around with. Getting a tux and going to

When I first dating him, the excitement that surrounds
what he does was neat and "Oh, my gosh." And then the longer we dated
