yes the lord jesus of jesus foreign for the intentions hail mary's awards oh so okay yes [Music] today in the name of the father son of the holy spirit the lord be with you to prepare ourselves to celebrate these sacred mysteries let us call to mind our sins i confess to almighty god and to you my brothers and sisters that i have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words in what i have done and in what i have failed to do through my fault through my fault through my most grievous fault therefore i ask blessed mary ever virgin all the angels and saints and you my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the lord our god may almighty god have mercy on us forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life lord have mercy christ have mercy lord have let us pray impart to us o lord in kindness the filial devotion with which the holy brothers venerated so devoutly the mother of god and led your people to yourself through our lord jesus christ your son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the holy spirit one god forever and ever a reading from the letter of saint james my brothers and sisters show no partiality as you adhere to the faith in our glorious lord jesus christ for if a man with gold rings and fine clothes comes into your assembly and a poor person with shabby clothes also comes in and you pay attention to the one wearing the fine clothes and say sit here please while you say to the poor one stand there or sit at my feet have you not made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil designs listen my beloved brothers and sisters did not god choose those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that he promised to those who love him but you dishonored the poor are not the rich oppressing you and do they themselves not haul you off to court is it not they who blaspheme the noble name that was invoked over you however if you fulfill the royal law according to the scripture you shall love your neighbor as yourself you are doing well but if you show partiality you commit sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors the word of the lord thanks be to god the lord hears the cry of the poor [Music] a reading from the holy gospel according to mark jesus and his disciples set out for the villages of caesarea philippi along the way he asked his disciples who do people say that i am they said in reply john the baptist others elijah still others one of the prophets and he asked them but who do you say that i am peter said to him in reply you are the christ then he warned them not to tell anyone about him he began to teach them that the son of man must suffer greatly and be rejected by the elders the chief priests and the scribes and be killed and rise after three days he spoke this openly then peter took him aside and began to rebuke him at this he turned around and looking at his disciples rebuked peter and said get behind me satan you are not thinking as god does but as human beings do the gospel of the lord are you noticing um like i'm noticing that in the modern era that we're in right now things are becoming uh very clear in and there's uh definite distinctions sides if you will we're divided as we've never been before and what divides us well one side will lie and they'll cheat and they'll steal and they'll be rooted on by their followers for being so clever because the end justifies the means it doesn't matter how you get there in power influence it's that you get there is all that matters whereas the other side simply can't do those things in fact if one of their leaders were to uh trail off into any kind of lying cheating and stealing they'd be rooted out it'd be seen as a horror for those on that side do you see the difference and the reason why it's different is because one side has completely abandoned god one side has if if anything they'll use god to build their brand at most where the other side has remained loyal to god look at the scene that we saw today where jesus says you know what i'm gonna have to go through this but realize it's gonna be glory to rise in three days so he's explaining this to his disciples what does he do he rebukes him no he tries to put him in his place and and in essence says no we can lie cheat and steal we can find a way around this behind me satan he calls peter satan because if you're going to choose the ways of satan you are satan himself get behind me satan he says you are not thinking as god does but as human beings do you see therein lies the distinction these are the times we're living in we can look back 50 years 60 and see that we weren't divided like like this because both sides had at least some attachment to god in his ways we're living in a time where one side is chosen to not only abandon god but to persecute anybody who dares follow god this is the hand you and i have been dealt these are the times you and i are living in these are challenging times there's been others throughout salvation history others just like this i think of the times of jezebel i mean we're about as close to those times as we could be right now no we can't play by their rules but we can't sit here and be defeated either the davids of the world have always risen up against the goliaths never choosing the ways of human beings but the ways of god what are those ways well that's what we discern day by day god how do you want me to do it how do you want me to defeat this to goliath speak lord your servant is listening please stand turning to the lord we offer these prayers for our needs and the needs of the world for pope francis and all clergy may god's hope shine abundantly through them as they lead the church in the world today we pray to the lord lord hear our prayer for governor roman officials may the holy spirit guide them in the pursuit of justice we pray to the lord lord hear our prayer for this community of faith may we grow in compassion and love through the grace of the holy spirit we pray to the lord for those who have died may god usher them into the eternal into life eternal with the angels and the saints and today's mass is being offered for the leaders protecting and defending life we pray to the lord lord hear our prayer god our father you have taught us to trust in your goodness hear and answer our prayers we ask this through christ our lord blessed are you lord god of all creation for through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you fruit of the earth work of human hands it will become for us the bread of life blessed be god forever blessed are you lord god of all creation for through your goodness we have received the wine we offer you fruit of the vine work of human hands will become for us our spiritual drink blessed be god forever pray my brothers and sisters that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to god the almighty father may the lord accept the sacrifice of my hands for the praise and glory of his name for our good and the good of all his holy church as we celebrate your mysteries o lord with the observance that is your due we humbly ask you that what we offer to the glory of your majesty may profit us for salvation through christ our lord the lord be with you lift up your hearts let us give thanks to the lord our god it is truly right and just our duty and our salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks lord holy father almighty and eternal god for goodness you created man and when he was justly condemned and mercy redeemed him through christ our lord through him the angels praise your majesty dominions of door and powers tremble before you heaven and the virtues of heaven and the blessed seraphim worship together with exaltation may our voices we pray join with theirs in humble praises we acclaim holy holy holy lord god of hosts heaven and earth are full of your glory hosanna in the highest blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord hosanna in the highest to you therefore most merciful father we make humble prayer and petition through jesus christ your son our lord that you accept and bless these gifts these offerings these holy and unblemished sacrifices which we offer you firstly for your holy catholic church be pleased to grant her peace to guard unite and govern her throughout the whole world together with your servant francis our pope and donald our bishop and all those who holding the truth and in the catholic and apostolic faith remember lord your servants and all gathered here whose faith and devotion are known to you for them we offer you the sacrifice of praise or they offered for themselves and all who are dear to them for the redemption of their souls in hope of health and well-being and paying their homage to you the demon and all your saints we ask that through their merits and prayers in all things we may be defended by your protecting help therefore lord we pray graciously accept this oblation of our service that of your whole family order our days and your peace and command that we be delivered from eternal damnation encountered among the flock of those you have chosen be pleased oh god we pray to bless acknowledge and approve this offering in every respect make it spiritual and acceptable so it may become for us the body and blood of your most beloved son our lord jesus christ on the day before he was to suffer he took bread in his holy invenable hands and with eyes raised to heaven to you o god is almighty father giving you thanks he said the blessing broke the bread and gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you in a similar way when supposedly took this precious chalice in his holy inventable hands but once more giving you thanks he said the blessing and gave the chalice to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it for this is the chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me [Music] [Music] the mystery of faith save us savor the world for by your cross and resurrection you have set us free therefore o lord as we celebrate the memorial the blessed passion the resurrection from the dead and the glorious ascension into heaven of christ your son our lord we your servants and your holy people offer to your glorious majesty from the gifts that you have given us this pure victim this holy victim this spotless victim the holy bread of eternal life and the chalice of everlasting salvation be pleased to look upon these offerings with this serene and kindly countenance and to accept them as once you are pleased to accept the gifts of your servant able to just the sacrifice of abraham our father in faith and the offering of your high priest melchizedek a holy sacrifice a spotless victim in humble prayer we ask you almighty god commanded these gifts be borne by the hands of your holy angel geraldton high in the sight of your divine majesty so that all of us who do this participation at the altar receive the most holy body and blood of your son may be filled with every grace and heavenly blessing remember also lord your servants who have gone before us with a sign of faith and rest in the sleep of peace grant them o lord we pray in all who sleep in christ a place of refreshment light and peace to us also your servants who those sinners hope in your abundant mercies graciously grant some share in fellowship with your holy apostles and martyrs with john the baptist stephen mathias barnabas ignatius alexander marcelinus peter felicity perpetua agatha lucy agnes cecilia anastasia and all your saints admit us we beseech you into their company not weighing our merits but granting us your pardon through christ our lord through whom you continue to make all these good things o lord you sanctify them fill them with life bless them and bestow them upon us through him and with him and in him o god almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all glory and honor is yours forever and ever at the savior's command and formed by divine teaching we dare to say our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil deliver us lord we pray from every evil graciously grant peace in our days that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our savior jesus christ for the kingdom the power and the glory are yours now and forever lord jesus christ you said your apostles peace i leave you my peace i give you look not on our sins but on the faith of your church and graciously grant your peace and unity in accordance with your
