surprised volunteering six oh [Music] um uh sometimes is so in the name of the father son the holy spirit the lord be with you to prepare ourselves to celebrate these sacred mysteries let us call to mind our sins i confess to almighty god and to you my brothers and sisters that i have greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my words in what i have done and in what i have failed to do through my fault through my fault through my most grievous fault blessed mary all the angels and saints and you my brothers and sisters to pray for me to the lord our god may almighty god have mercy on us forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life lord have mercy christ have mercy lord have mercy let us pray great we pray almighty god that always pondering spiritual things we may carry out in both word and deed that which is pleasing to you through our lord jesus christ your son who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the holy spirit one god forever and ever a reading from the letter of saint james come now you rich weep and wail over your impending miseries your wealth has rotted away your clothes have become moth eaten your gold and silver have corroded and that corrosion will be a testimony against you it will devour your flesh like a fire you have stored up treasure for the last days behold the wages you withheld from the workers who harvested your fields are crying aloud and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the lord of hosts you have lived on earth in luxury and pleasure you have fattened your hearts for the day of slaughter you have condemned you have murdered the righteous one he offers you no resistance the word of the lord thanks be to god blessed are the poor in spirit the kingdom of heaven is theirs blessed are the poor in spirit the kingdom of heaven is theirs this is the way of those whose trust is folly the end of those contented with their lot like sheep they are herded into the netherworld death is their shepherd and the circle of his forbearers who shall nevermore see light r the lord be with you a reading from the holy gospel according to mark jesus said to his disciples anyone who gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to christ amen i say to you will surely not lose his reward whoever causes one of these little ones who believes in me to sin it would be better for him if a great millstone were put around his neck and he were thrown into the sea if your hand causes you to sin cut it off it is better for you to enter into life maimed than with two hands to go to into gehenna into the unquenchable fire and if your foot causes you to sin cut it off it is better for you to enter into life crippled than with two feet to be thrown into the gehenna and if your eye causes you to sin pluck it out better for you to enter into the kingdom of god with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into gehenna where their worm dies not and the fire is not quenched everyone will be salted with fire salt is good but if salt becomes insipid with what will you restore its flavor keep salt in yourselves and you will have peace with one another the gospel of the lord if you would say a prayer for me i'm going to be speaking tonight to the graduates at uw madison saint paul's tonight and uh when they contacted me they said can you come and talk to us about spiritual warfare and i'm like really because i think in a lot of places people have and here's the phrase i'll use move slowly with others almost like we don't want to scare them away because it's too much and i'm sorry i've just never agreed with that i think people are swimming in weakness and what they're looking for is strength now the reading i would often referred to is the one we just heard today you know if your hand is your problem cut it off jesus said wait a minute jesus that's a little harsh right if you cause one of these little ones to sin it's better for you to have a millstone put around your neck and throw it in the sea wait wait that's a little harsh isn't it no it's for those who are lost for those who think that there isn't a way out they're looking for strength and jesus knew that and he was not afraid to be strong cut off that hand cut off that foot pluck that eye out i mean i don't even know a preacher today that preaches like that he's the strongest right he's the strongest what about causing the little ones to sin you know one of the things that we can look at is uh what we call our little sins the one that's kind of a pet peeve of mine is swearing or cussing that seems innocent you know everybody does it it's no big deal wait a minute it's a complete contradiction of a follower of jesus christ complete contradiction we can almost see the heads all around go like this i thought you were the example the salt that i needed the spice that i needed but look i guess you're like the rest and they move on do you see but i think the the biggest way we caused the youth to sin is by leaving them alone in their sins not saying anything not speaking up against this crazy insane culture that we're living in right now you know i pinpoint 2015 the supreme court decision that said marriage can mean anything at all of course you could go all the way back to 1973 but things have ramped up since 2015 in a big way the stark image i use constantly i have to sit here and watch a grown man follow a little girl in the bathroom and say that's okay and the spiritual leaders the ones who have in their very calling to be the first to speak against this in our times they're canceled they're brought into the bishop's office for a talking to and the canceled culture all around them tries everything to ruin their reputation and crickets from those who should have that person's back these are the ones causing the little ones to sin silent self-protection using narratives like well we don't want to be divisive yeah we do i mean come on for a millstone to be thrown put around your neck and throw into the sea if you cause a little one to sin hello jesus you're being a little divisive there we don't want to be harsh so i'll swing back to him what i originally said say a prayer for me tonight but this is so awesome st paul's university wisconsin campus they want to talk about spiritual warfare i think we're all starting to get it i find it interesting i'll end with this that um i knew it was strength i've always known this that keeps the devil at bay i've always known that it's a deterrence right from for one falling into temptation you're so close to god how how could i do that and you know what you're hearing in the news with this ukraine thing going on peace through strength peace your strength peace your strength days before we start it a confirmation but it's so true it's so true you know if we're separated anyway i'll use the image of hey she's just out there in the kitchen martha she's pretty close we're satisfied with that be pretty close we're called to be people's spice right we end with um the feast of visitation that was the mother god john john leaping in a womb myself that's spicy isn't it i found jesus and he's amazing and you gotta find them too or grumpy face and say nothing and leave them alone in their sins because if we say anything it's too harsh and divisive you tell i'm sick of that i truly am so my brothers and sisters just stays away we're gonna stop spiritually we're gonna get at the feet of jesus we're gonna fall in love like we've never fallen in love before and we're gonna go out and spice people's life up please stand oops i don't have my bookie thingy i'm going to make them up and so loving father we offer these prayers today we pray for our church we pray that fresh outs pouring of the holy spirit come to our pope and bishops so they may courageously go out salt spice truth love to the world we pray to the lord lord hear our prayer we pray for all those who are sick and suffering in any way we also pray for those who have asked for our prayers let's just take a moment to call to mind all those who sought our prayers we pray to the lord lord hear our prayer we pray for our 90 days to peace coming up shortly we ask you lord to give it your holy spirit anointing like you we've never received before we pray to the lord lord hear our prayer we pray for our loved ones who have gone before us bring from it for this is the chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me [Music] the mystery of faith save us savor the world for by your cross and resurrection you have set us free therefore o lord as we celebrate the memorial the blessed passion the resurrection from the dead and the glorious ascension into heaven of christ your son our lord we your servants and your holy people offer to your glorious majesty from the gifts that you have given us this pure victim this holy victim this spotless victim the holy bread of eternal life and the chalice of everlasting salvation be pleased to look upon these offerings with a serene and kindly countenance and to accept them as once you are pleased to accept the gifts of your servant able to just the sacrifice of abraham our father in faith and the offering of your high priest melchizedek a holy sacrifice a spotless victim in humble prayer we ask you almighty god commanded these gifts be borne by the hands of your holy angel your ultron high in the sight of your divine majesty so that all of us who do this participation at the altar receive the most holy body and blood of your son may be filled with every grace and heavenly blessing remember also lord your servants who've gone before us with a sign of faith and rest in the sleep of peace grant them our lord we pray and all who sleep in christ a place of refreshment light and peace to us also your servants who those sinners hope in your abundant mercies graciously grant some share and fellowship with your holy apostles and martyrs with john the baptist stephen matthias barnabas ignatius alexander marcelinus peter felicity perpetua agatha lucy agnes cecilia anastasia and all your saints admit us we beseech you into their company not weighing our merits but granting us your pardon through christ our lord through whom you continue to make all these good things o lord you sanctify them fill them with life bless them and bestow them upon us through him and with him and in him oh god almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all glory and honor is yours forever and ever at the savior's command and formed by divine teaching we dare to say our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil deliver us lord we pray from every evil graciously grant peace in our days that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our savior jesus christ for the kingdom the power and the glory are yours now and forever lord jesus christ you said your apostles peace i leave you my peace i give you look not on our sins but on the faith of your church and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will who live and reign for ever and ever the peace of the lord be with you always lamb of god you take away the sins of the
