[Music] well praise the lord i'm pastor jeffrey a johnson senior i'm the senior pastor of the eastern star church in indianapolis and in fishers indiana with a word of encouragement for you even in these difficult times today is coming from romans chapter 8 verse 15 and 16. listen to what god's word says so you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves instead you receive god's spirit when he adopted you as his own children now we call him abba father for his spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are god's children amen i have four adult sons and when my sons were small children of course i would take them to the pediatrician dr eric yancey one of the best doctors in the world period and dr eric yancey every now and then would have to give them immunization shots so we're in the doctor's office and the doctor says all right staff was shot he pulls that needle out and my son sees the needle and instead of looking at the doctor he begins to look to me his father seeing what i'm going to do here comes this big man with this big needle coming at me i'm getting he's getting ready to hurt me i know my father is going to do something and my son begins to cry out and i just stand there and he said i know my father loves me i know he cares for me he's provided for me but why would he allow me to get stuck like this why would he allow me to go through this pain like this and then to make matters worse there would be times that not only did i stand by and say nothing but then there would be times i'd jump in not to hold the doctor back but to hold my son down and i'm holding him down here's this big man with this big needle coming at him bringing his pain and my son didn't quite understand i am your father i do love you and i know what's best for you and if i'm allowing this to happen if i'm holding you down and holding you back right now it's because i know i'm allowing something to get in you to make you stronger to help you with future struggles it's going to be some other things coming at you and coming on you but i'm preparing you for that right now the word of god says that we can cry abba that's the informal hebrew word that the the hebrews used to use to teach talk about their fathers not just father but daddy and we can call god daddy he is our heavenly father and as our heavenly father sometimes he just sits there and watches us go through painful times where we feel stuck and it feels like things are hurting but we know he loves us and he's preparing us and he's strengthening us and he's doing something internally with us so that we can walk into our destiny walk into our future with the strength that we need to handle everything life is going to bring we can cry out in prayer abba you can call him daddy god is watching over you and he knows what's best for you let us pray father i bless you and praise you and honor you and i do trust you as our father and i pray that as your holy spirit bears witness that we're your children that you'll continue to care for us and you'll continue to allow whatever to happen in our lives that need to happen whatever you need to do do it because we know you're working it out for our good in jesus name amen [Music]
