ugh [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] so [Music] so in the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit the lord be with you my brothers and sisters let us acknowledge our sins and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries you are sent to heal the contrite of heart lord have mercy you came to call sinners christ of mercy you are seated at the right hand of the father to intercede for us lord have mercy may almighty god have mercy on us forgive us our sins and bring us everlasting life let us pray show gracious favor o lord we pray to the works of penance we have begun that we may have strength to accomplish with sincerity the bodily observances we undertake through our lord jesus christ your son who lives and ranks with you in the unity of the holy spirit god forever and ever a reading from the book of the prophet isaiah thus says the lord god cry out full throated and unsparingly lift up your voice like a trumpet blast tell my people their wickedness and the house of jacob their sins they seek me day after day and desire to know my ways like a nation that has done what is just and not abandoned the law of their god they ask me to declare what is due them pleased to gain access to god why do we fast and you do not see it afflict ourselves and you take no note of it lo on your fast day you carry out your own pursuits and drive all your laborers yes your fast ends in quarreling and fighting striking with the wicked claw with that today you might fast so as to make your voice heard on high is this the manner of fasting i wish of keeping a day of penance that a man bow his head like a reed and lie in sackcloth and ashes do you call this a fast a day acceptable to the lord this rather rather is the fasting that i wish releasing those bound unjustly untying the thongs of the yoke setting free the oppressed breaking every yoke sharing your bread with the hungry sheltering the oppressed and the homeless clothing the naked when you see them and not turning your back on your own then your light shall bring break forth like the dawn and your wound shall quickly be healed your vindication shall go before you and the glory of the lord shall be your rear guard then you shall call and the lord will answer you shall cry for help and he will say here i am the word of the lord a heart contrite and humbled o god you will not spurn the heart controlled have mercy on me o god in your goodness in the greatness of your compassion wipe out my offense thoroughly wash me from my guilt and of my sin cleanse me a heart contrite and humbled o god you will not spurn for i acknowledge my offense and my sin is before me always against you only have i sinned and done what is evil in your sight a heart contrite and humbled o god you will not spurn john approached jesus and said why do we and the pharisees fast much but your disciples do not fast jesus answered them can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them and then they will fast the gospel of the lord praise your lord jesus christ today as we start the the season of land prophet isaiah is telling us first thing is not only like we go and become very sorry and we don't eat if we do that without love we are just wasting time it's it's not good it's just useless when we do that and we don't love our neighbor and fasting in the catholic church is not for people who are over over 60 years and for kids who are very young like below 18 or 16 years so if you are above that you have to fast and and those who are sick when you are sick you don't need to fast during this time of land and we don't only fast from food like reduce the amount of food that we eat every day yes that's true that's what we need to do but we also need to fast from things that we like very much what are some of the things you think people like very much that they do every day that we need to fast from during the time of land yes candy [Music] tick-tock yes [Music] yeah these are some of the things we we need to fast from we just need to say during this time of land i don't want to be on my iphone or my tablet on my ipad all the time so i'm going to to keep it away and i will help my parents or i will help somebody who need help i will ask to go to my grandparents house to clean their backyard and i just leave my my tablet my phone and i go and do that as i do that i pray i say god i'm doing this i'm leaving my ipad because i like it very much to go and do this work you forgive me my sins i'm doing this because this time of land forgive me i am a sinner and help your parents with whatever work you see them do i was in one of the classes are sent to mary's bash in your school and one of the students asked so do we also need to fast from doing our homework i said no no no no no no to that that is like the work from the the class from the school you fast from something that you like to do and you feel good about it and you it's your personal like something that you like that you give up to pray as we pray we need to do that with an intention we have a lot of things to pray about in the world today pray for your parents pray for for god to protect you to guide you it should always be there for you to pass your exams pray for your teachers pray for the students who are in ukraine who cannot go to school now because of war we have a lot of things that we can pray for that way our land will be meaningful but if we don't then we are just wasting time during this land if we don't keep our way things that we like very much and pray and fast and also help our parents help our neighbor help our brothers and sisters that way we shall be doing the right thing just like prophet isaiah said we shall be true disciples of jesus but if we don't do it we shall be wasting our time let us pray that the four pillars of land that is prayer fasting and alms giving should always be things that we shall be doing during the 40 days of lent praise be lord jesus christ please stand trusting in the lord's mercy we humbly turn to god to present our needs for the church throughout the world for all who have been anointed her leaders and for all who share in the one baptism we profess we pray to the lord lord hear our prayers for all nations may the witness of committed christians foster an increased respect for human life we pray to the lord lord hear our praise for this faith community may god help us engage in our lenten sacrifices with sincerity and faithfulness we pray to the lord lord hear our prayers for all those who thirst for light in situations of great darkness may god's love lead them to everlasting life we pray to the lord lord hear our praise for all those who have died may they be welcomed into eternal joy by the angels and saints in heaven we pray to the lord lord hear our prayers for the repose of the souls of ed and jane mullen for whom this mass is being offered we pray to the lord lord hear our prayers for the intercession of our heavenly mother we say hally mary full of grace the lord is with thee blessed are thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb jesus holy mary mother of god pray for us sinners now and thou of our death amen good and gracious god hear these prayers we offer you today through jesus christ our lord amen thank you thank you is blessed are you lord god of all creation for through your goodness we have received the bread we offer you fruit of the earth and work of human hands it will become for us the bread of life blessed be god forever blessed are you lord god of all creation for through your goodness we have received the wine we offer you fruit of the vine and work of human hands it will become our spiritual drink blessed be god forever wash me from my sins and cleanse me from my iniquities pray brothers and sisters that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to god the almighty father may the lord accept the sacrifice into your hands for the praise and glory of his name for our good and good of all his holy church we offer oh lord the sacrifice of our lenten observance praying that it make our intentions acceptable to you and add to our powers of self-restraint through christ our lord the lord be with you lift up your hearts let us give thanks to the lord our god it is truly right and just our duty and our salvation always and everywhere to give you things lord holy father almighty and eternal god for you have given your children a sacred time for the renewing and purifying of their hearts that freed from disordered affections they may so deal with the things of this passing world as to hold rather to the things that internally endure and so with all the angels and saints we praise you as without end we acclaim holy holy holy lord god of hosts heaven and earth are full of your glory hosanna in the highest blessed is he who comes in the name of the lord hosanna in the highest you are indeed holy oh lord the fount of all holiness make holy therefore these gifts we pray by sending down your spirit upon them like the dewfall so that they may become for us the body and blood of our lord jesus christ at the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion he took bread and giving thanks broke it and gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you in a similar way when supper was ended he took the chalice and once more giving thanks he gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it for this is the chalice of my blood the blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins do these in memory of me the mystery of faith when we eat this bread and drink this cup we proclaim your death o lord until you come again therefore as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection we offer you lord the bread of life and the chalice of salvation giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of christ we may be gathered into one by the holy spirit remember lord your church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of charity together with francis our pope and thomas our bishop eduardo his assistant and all of the clergy remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection and all who have died in your mercy welcome them into the light of your face have mercy on us all we pray that with the blessed virgin mary mother of god is the blessed joseph our spouse with a blessed apostles and all the saints who have pleased you throughout the ages we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life and may praise and glorify you through your son jesus christ through him and with him and in him o god almighty father in the unity of the holy spirit all glory and honor is yours forever and ever amen at the savior's command and formed by divine teaching we dare to say our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation deliver us lord we pray from every evil graciously grant peace in our days that by the help of your mercy we may be always free from sin and save from all distress as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our savior jesus christ for the kingdom the power and the glory are yours lord jesus christ who said to your apostles peace i leave you my peace i give you look not on our sins but on the faith of your church and graciously grant her peace and unity in accordance with your will who live and reign forever and ever the peace of the lord be with you always let us offer each other the sign of peace lamb of god you take away the sins of god behold the lamb of god behold him who takes away the sins of the world blessed are those called to the supper of the lamb lord i am not worthy that it should enter under my roof but only say a word and my soul shall be healed oh let us pray we pray almighty god that through partaking of this mystery we may be cleansed of all our misdeeds and so be suited for the remedies
