this is the brand new Sunny Side Up designs mushroom D the so simple anyway this is their new 15 liter case not following the regular design that they would do for their cases and what I mean by that is for all of the Sunny Side Up cases that we've seen so far they typically are in this orientation but the mushroom D is in this orientation and internally it is nothing like the other mushroom or mesh let's just cases what we're going to do today is explode the case see what makes a tick and then I'll let you guys know what I think of this thing it's a very divisive case I've looked at this quite extensively already and we're also going to test The Thermals so you can make up your own mind on this uh I don't want to say just yet but it's got a couple things let's jump in so you can see what I mean yeah let's start off with panel removal if we flip the case around to the back side of the case you'll notice there's these little indents and this will help us to pull the side panels off but I gotta say that the fit from Factory is very very tight so the way I found to get into this the easiest way when the case is new at least is pushing from the back where the i o cut out is and then pulling the panels away it is a little bit of a pain in the butt but that's just how it is with these mushroom and meshlicious cases to remove the top panel you can just use your thumbs on each corner of the top panel and just push up removing the front panel is similar to the top panel where you just push from these Corners here pull it outwards it's it's very tight to get access to the rest of the case there are these two brackets which need to be removed and these are fan slash radiator brackets if you decide to liquid cool in this case for power supply support it supports sfx sfxl and ATX power supplies up to 160 mils in length in this compartment here now this top bracket here is removable with four screws and it can be rotated so you can mount the ATX power supply on this side with the intake fan on this side but be aware that if you're installing an ATX power supply if you use one that is too long it's going to touch the back of the GPU the thing is if you decide to put an ATX power supply in the mesh Rim D you're limiting your liquid cooler compatibility as well so you've got a maximum of 140 mils if you're using an ATX power supply in the case full maximum air cooler height on the mushroom D you're looking at 142 millimeters and my thinking so far is we're probably going to air cool on this for something a little bit different today because usually we would use a liquid cooler but yeah we're going to air cool today we're doing it I'm committing to it I'm saying it now we're air cooling so it looks like there's fan mounts on the top that's not the case with this case at all that's not what that's for on the rear it supports up to a 92 millimeter fan or an 80mm fan if that's what you wanted to do on the side with those removable brackets that I showed earlier you could do either two 120 mil fans two 140 mil fans or a 280 mil radiator or a 240mm radiator depending on the orientation which you put your brackets in the case not only that on the bottom of the case that supports up to a 280 millimeter radiator or a 240 on the bottom if you're doing custom liquid cooling or two 120s or two 140 mil fan so the thing is with the mushroom D there's so many different configurations for fans and radiators that this video with what was provided to me only tells about half of the story I wish I had the m80x extension kit because it would have made for a more interesting video but I'm limited by what I received and I did ask for all of this stuff but if I'm being honest they're marketing this really as an ITX only small form factor case not an m-a-t-x case and we're not even through this part of the video but I find that a little bit disappointing but the disappointment does not stop there and I may be the only one who is disappointed by this case but in terms of i o on the mushroom D we've got a power button which is on the back of the case it's almost like they're trying to copy the Mac Mini or the Mac Studio with it on the back we've got our two USB type A ports and a USB type-c port there's no power light on this case whatsoever we have this very tight right angled power cable I recommend removing this when you're building because I can already see there's going to be a bit of a pain in the ass because it will be in the way there's also a USB type-c front panel connector there's the USB 3.2 type a connector and a power button cable there's a single magnetic dust filter on the bottom of the case which is easily removable you can just Yank It Away stick it back and Away you go all right this is where it really gets interesting GPU support okay so the maximum length is 323 millimeters in ITX mode I can't talk about matx mode I don't have the kit I don't have the hardware for it trying to fit in a huge GPU like this 4080 Aero from gigabyte not going to fit yeah I can physically get it to fit inside the case it's not going to plug in the gpus too thick it's got a maximum GPU height of 3.5 slots as well as that is 144 mil wide so even if this big GPU did fit we wouldn't be able to plug it in because the cable would be sticking like four centimeters out the side of the case so right there's that I will probably suggest if you can use a Founders card because the partner cards almost none of the higher end ones feel like 470 TI's uh some of the ones that I test fitted earlier just didn't fit like the MSI gaming X Trio didn't fit it was too wide too long wouldn't plug in and my sentiment so far is there's just a lot of weird oversights for things that they could have easily have done the case design here is quite similar to the nr200p from Cooler Master and they could have just copied that and they kind of did kind of I think that's everything you need to know about the mushroom D for now usually I would have a lot more to say about this more form factor cases and basically I can only share with you the things that I know about this case and from the things that I have with this case which isn't a whole lot to go on at this point in time we can only tell part of the story if we haven't built in it yet so let's do that let's building it let's test The Thermals and then we can find out if it's as disappointing as I think it is it's probably going to be other reviewers and other people out there who disagree with me that's okay but keep in mind that we have built with hundreds of cases and small form factor cases over the time of this channel existing so from the jump I could usually tell when something is not going to go to plan [Music] yeah foreign [Music] [Music] thank you [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] let's take a look at The Thermals what you're seeing on your screen right now is The Thermals of the mushroom deep are not too bad at all that's to be expected given the whole case is a mesh box so it's got a lot of space for breathing room one thing that did surprise me though was the CPU temperature with all the panels on now there is a lot of areas for fan placement in this case and it would have been good if they had some type of provision for mounting any fan at the front but overall it's not too bad in terms of The Thermals if you're interested in any of the hardware used in this build there's a PC pickle list right down there down below that'll show you everything that went into this also there's little cards in the section of the video where I'm building that basically explain everything that goes into a PC like this so what do I think about this subdi mushroom D well the idea of the case is really really nice the execution is pretty average and I'm going to put it down to us getting a bad sample I I'm not sure if this is indicative of the quality of one of the retail units the reason why I'm saying this is because there's a couple little things that I found to be odd the first thing was the i o cut out on the back of the case for your motherboard when you mount it now it seems like one of the standoffs well both of the standoffs on the right hand side of the board if you're looking at it from the top down are slightly misaligned and what that makes it do is well they're the standoffs that have the little Center Peg things on them to align your board in place so you don't need screws to screw it all in what's happened here is if you line it up with that it pushes the i o Shield through the back of the case and it pulls the whole board out of alignment and when you screw the screws in on the left hand side of the board it flexes the PCB of the motherboard that could potentially damage your motherboard so I'm hoping that that just comes down to a bad sample the build quality is average it's a bit of a letdown and a little bit of a departure from what we saw with the meshlicious and the mushroom s those cases were excellent quality this one feels a lot flimsier and I think it's because they're going for a lower price point they're going for around 110 US dollars for the mushroom day and maybe they decided to skip out on a few things but this seems very uncharacteristic for safdi with the quality of their cases even down to things like the fitment of the panel the panels flex and bend a lot more than they used to and I get it it's a giant mesh box well it's a 15 liter mesh box but look I get it right and I know that Reddit and the comments and there's going to be a lot of people and other reviewers that disagree with what I have to say about this case but I don't think this is up to the quality of other subject cases that we've seen in the past and the formula for this case is so easy to execute and I think this is just another one of those standard layout small form factor case is that we have got here right so you know like the the Target price is 110 US Dollars there's obviously a kit to make this an m80x case which for some reason they didn't send to us we didn't actually get a lot of information with this case or anything about the case even things like how to mount the bottom brackets the documentation isn't even for the right case uh yeah and the sales guy that we got sent for the case is just riddled with spelling errors and it's just it's really bad it's like they're absolutely rushing this case out just to get it out and I'm a little bit worried that retail versions will suffer from even little things like this so this is a bit of a big stuff up especially for someone who hasn't built in the case before especially for me like I just wanted to see what the deal was I wanted to see what all the accessories were and how it all mounted but there was no information on any of it and that's just a little bit disappointing if I'm being absolutely honest with you guys there's a few fitment things that I think you guys might find interesting first of all the cooler this is the brand new NOK to a nhd12l this is a it's like the D15 but smaller and when I put the motherboard in it looked like it wasn't going to fit because of the ends of all the heat pipes turns out it fits perfectly and I've got a clip here on the screen that you can see with when you look at the case the side profile it does protrude I have to take into account there's a lip on the panels that actually push the panel away from the case which give it that little bit of clearance for this cooler to fit in perfectly and I think this is one of the better air coolers that you'd want to use if you're air Cooling in this case now if you're interested in the price I think I mentioned it already 110 US dollars at the time of the video going live I think they're launching this on their website and probably across retail channels as well I don't know like I said we didn't get much information from something about this case or just anything really it arrived and here it is let us know what you think of the mushroom D if I'm being absolutely honest with you guys I'm a little bit disappointed with this case the weird fitment things I don't know if if it's going to impact the retail versions Let's cross our fingers and hope that retail versions don't have this but yeah it's a bit disappointing and if you mount it wrong you could potentially damage your motherboard which is not a nice feeling and I know Gordon from PC World would tell me that this is why he hates small form factor PCS and some more form factor cases anyways guys if you like the music you heard here I make all the music it's available by clicking that join button right down there down below and if you like this video and anything that I said hit the like button if you didn't like what I said also hit the like button but yeah I I really hope that I'm wrong about this case and if I'm wrong I'm willing to admit it but somehow I feel like this case is a little bit rushed and that's it for me I'm your boy Nick with gear Seekers you pick we seeking hopefully hopefully hopefully they listen to my feedback and do a mushroom D2
