The ITX case you need for MAX airflow

foreign [Music] [Music] d a brand new cage from Sunnyside up and it's what you get if you were to combine a mushroom s with an nr200p well kinda you see while this case brings most of the benefits found in the measure mess there are things that work well and some things that don't so let's check out a couple of different cooling setups and see what this case can handle so right from the outside you can tell that this version of the mushroom keeps that super clean and minimal look with that edge to edge metal mesh and no visible branding with the exception of a small logo of sitting on the back while the top front and side panels are all using what feels to be the same sturdy metal mesh from the mushroom s the bottom is only covered with a flimsy mesh screen with no support and only held into place by a few magnets I suspect this material is more breathable than the steel mesh panels which is why it's used where the graphic card is to pull as much fresh air as possible but you will want to be careful when handling this case there have been a few times when my hands went right through the bottom when lifting it up because I've become so used to handling cases with more structure on the bottom the fit and finish on my unit also looks great with no imperfections and panel gaps with the exception for a slight crease on my bottom mesh but I think that I probably caused that from what I was mentioning earlier the corners feel nice and rounded with no sharp edges and the entire exterior feels very smooth putting it side by side with a mushroom sv2 it looks nearly identical in size and volume at 15 liters and comparing it to a few other cases it's slightly larger than the fractal Terra but smaller than the nr200p and significantly smaller than the Corsair 2000d so working our way inside the case and it's all extremely simple and straightforward we have these two brackets that can hold up a 240 or 280 millimeter radiator then under that there's your motherboard standoffs to the left power supply bracket on the right and room for a three and a half slot GPU across the bottom okay so by default the power supply bracket is at this top orientation but you do also have the option to mount it towards the front that makes it easier for your setup and cable management it supports sfx and ATX power supplies although I would recommend sticking to sfx or sfxl as there are plenty of high power options available and you can save yourself some headache with much more room for cable management I'm going to be using the sf750 and position it at the top here the case includes this very flexible low profile extension cable with plenty of slack that makes it really easy to do cable management by default it's angled toward the motherboard at the back I found that it pushes up against the board like that but it can easily be flipped around if you have that same issue I'm going to be using the 7800x3d in the Asus b650ei along with 32 gigs of ddr5 6000 memory to test out a couple of cooling options now this is an ITX board but the case can support up to a Micro ATX board using extension brackets but given the limited space I would suggest sticking with an itex board if you can not a lot of case cables to plug in here just these three we have a USB 3.0 and a type c to connect the two usb-a and USBC front I O then we have the power switch if you don't want the power button at the top there is the option to move it down to another spot on the bottom for storage options you have a spot to mount a two and a half drive at the top or you can mount up to three ssds on that same plate as the power supply you can also fit a two and a half drive on the rear panel although I expect most builds are going to be using onboard m.2 drives and instead use that space for an 80 millimeter fan for air cooling options the max recommended CPU height is 142 millimeters and I would say that's probably the highest you should go I have an nhd12l which is 145 millimeters in height and I'm actually just able to fit it in and close the side panel without using any extra Force but it does push up against the side panel a bit it's not enough to notice a bend in the panel or anything crazy but I'm not going to say that I outright recommend this because I think that it's possible for other builds it could push enough up against the panel to pop it out so I would stay within that recommended 142 if you can now when I installed it I used the noctua am5 offset brackets and temps were looking really good with the CPU temps staying around 60 degrees Celsius I mean there's so much airflow in this case that is really going to help the d12l shine and admittedly the 7800 x3d is a very efficient chip so that's helping here as well but there definitely seems to be enough cooling Headroom to handle a hotter trip if needed pairing this cooler with a gigabyte 4cm TI eagle and system fan noise is very good as well at only 43 decibels a more realistic setup would be using something like the NHL 12s this is a much lower profile cooler and it can use those same offset brackets that I used on the D12 and what I like about this is that it leaves plenty of room to mount two large 140 millimeter fans first setting the fans to intake and temps were actually comparable to the d12l with the CPU at around 60 degrees Celsius but flipping the fans to exhaust seeing a big Improvement to overall temps by lowering the CPU by 5 degrees Celsius this also brought the GPU temps down by three to five degrees so overall system temps were much better here with the exhaust setup and the noise difference between this setup and the D12 were minor only one decibel difference between the two now the brackets that I used for the fan can also be used to mount an AIO cooler up to 280 millimeters I have an nzxc Kraken Elite 240 to test here now it's completely unnecessary to have a screen on an AIO in this build because it's going to be completely blocked by the radiator but this is just what I have on hand at the moment so definitely save yourself some money and get one without a screen if you want to go this route these brackets actually make it quite easy to install onto the radiator but you'll have to remove the front right case brace in order to get everything back into the case once that's removed it's fairly easy to mount the water block and reattach the brackets back into the case the radiator tubes seem to have a good amount of room here I didn't have to bend them in any weird ways or put too much pressure on them especially when using the sfx power supply of course cooling here is going to be great as well the 7800x3d is no match for the Kraken so we're seeing low temps here at 55 degrees Celsius with a full gaming load this is using the performance preset in nzxc cam which was putting the fan speed at around 1300 RPMs this put the system noise at basically the same as the last config around 45 decibels the feet stand about a quarter inch from the table and that does seem to provide good airflow for the GPU that I'm using I'm seeing temps around 67 to 68 degrees for most of the setups I tested with the best config again being with those two 140 millimeter fans set to exhaust helping expel that hot air brings the temps down to around 65 degrees the graphic card slots directly into the motherboard here so there's no need for a PCI Express Riser cable which is really nice in my opinion it helps bring the price down and it's one less thing to go wrong but there are downsides here so the case is only 167 millimeters wide so while you can fit three and a half slot gpus up to 332 millimeters in length it's the width that becomes an issue for GPU compatibility unfortunately Founders edition cards like the 4080 and 4090 just don't fit once you account for the connector I've tried a few cables that are moderately flexible and a 90 degree adapter from cable mod that all stick out just way too much I know that there's probably more flexible cable options but I can't verify if there's a cable that can work here but it just doesn't look likely and even if there was one that would allow you to shut the panel it would probably put more pressure on the port than I would be comfortable with anyway so if you're going to be using a wider card then you'll need to make sure that it has a recessed power connector like the 47 TI I have here and it's here that I wish the case leaned a little more toward the nr200p style given the option to vertically mount a GPU could potentially resolve this of course then you'd probably want to wait to top mount the radiator and at that point we're just designing a whole different case and I don't want to judge this case too much on what it's not and appreciate it for what it is all ITX cases come with some compromises and I still think that this is a great case you're getting all the benefits from the previous mushroom cases with that airflow for great cooling there's some additional accessories that are coming out that will allow you to stand the case vertically which looks really cool and adds some flexibility to the design and so yeah overall I recommend
