welcome to our slash tales from retail where we share stories of your bosses employees were those interesting customers you see daily and the first story is worst customer I ever encountered I wrote this up last night to share with you guys but I forgot to post it here it is my customer from heck hey guys so I just got off work after a long shift tonight I usually don't let customers get under my skin too much and I can easily brush it off and laugh about it but oh man did I have one tonight that actually made me feel anger and I was ready to walk off it's hard to explain in text but I will do my best I work in a ladies clothing store we have tons of deals for accessories shoes and clothes all have their own deals pretty much signs stating clearly what the deals are but you know how it is people still manage to get confused so this lady comes in right away we all kind of watch her because she looks like she's a bit off all of us took turns helping her find stuff because she was the needy customer one of my co-workers think she was possibly drunk just by how she was talking but we don't know anyway so she keeps telling us over and over she's trying to make an outfit for tonight because she has to date supposedly she kept saying she only had $50 as well she probably had like 30 items brought up to the till we had on hold for her everything from makeup bras swimwear leggings dresses it was just a lot for this one lady so after an hour goes by and she is finally ready to pay this is how it went down me equals me are C equals to read customer C W equals co-worker so I'm ringing up the item she decides what she wants out of her big a pile which was only four items by the way she has two items under are buy one get the second half off promo as most stores do you pay for the more expensive item and the computer will have the cheaper item she had one pair of our three for fifteen stockings she had a nail polish that was under our buy one get the second for a dollar deal now keep in mind as I'm scanning these items I always tell the customers of the deals so they know what they are and they can decide to add or subtract items as they see fit and I did with this customer as well me so you have two items under our buy one get the set half-off promo you're paying full price for this swimsuit and half price for the dress she says okay so I continued and you have one of our stockings that are three for fifteen did you want to grab two more pairs for the deal or just buy the one rude customer um yeah I will she walks away like three steps then comes back to the till rude customer no I just want that one me sure thing and your nail polish is also on a good deal this week you can get a second for a dollar after I say this one of my co-workers is at the end of the tills getting some hangers and my customer looks over at her and says the following rude customer can I get her to help me instead she seems like she's been here longer and knows more than you this took me off guard completely because I don't know what I did exactly to imply that I didn't know my job but she was already being such a nuisance today I asked my coworker to please come help me out as she requested her I was just not gonna argue so I stand beside her as she was at my till with my transaction so I didn't go far and once she comes over the customer says rude customer yeah can you help me I want the best deals and she didn't tell me this was three for fifteen picks up stockings and this is on sale as well picks up nail polish I literally stare at her and with the fire of rage in my eyes and I say pardon I just told you what the sales were before you requested my co-workers help literally like ten epping seconds ago I can handle a lot of things but being called a liar when I'm standing right there peeps me off I just think to myself to calm down she's not worth getting angry at just breathe so this lady went back and forth with a few items trying to make her order cheaper because she only had fifty dollars even though we tried to explain to her how the buy one get one half off promo works and that you need to pay for the most expensive item she was not understanding she starts to argue about the deals and how she didn't want to pay full price for anything rude customer why am i paying the full price for anything the sign says buy one get the second half off so why aren't they half price while saying this she picks up one of the articles of clothing and basically throws it towards us co-worker its buy one get the second half off you have to pay regular for one and then half price for the other that's what the deal means and the computer will always charge for the more expensive item and then she starts to just get angry and start slamming her items on the till rude customer you guys are confusing me co-worker what are you confused with we're trying to help you ma'am the customer then turns around and points it at three for ten dollar sign on our clearance been rude customer that sign says three for ten why can't I get these for that deal I want the best deal at this point I was getting ready to walk away and grab my manager but my co-workers stopped me and said it's fine she will deal with it so I was like fine you do that I am done haha so I did step away and help some other customers on another till eventually she pays after a bit of huff and puff of trying to explain to her the deals that are not hard to understand but as I said earlier we think she was drunk or something but in the end she bought two items that weren't even in her pile to begin with we never seen her again that night luckily this story may sound confusing but trust me this customer was confusing oh happy days the second story is will they break up tonight probably so I work at a discount department store of sorts it's a lot of work but I love my job in my co-workers there are days when I'm doing the job of three people but that's why they pay me the big bucks am i right minimum-wage baby tonight the best thing that's ever happened to me in the history of working at that store happened and when I say best I really mean the most outrageous I was cashiering this evening and a cute couple walked up to my register with a couple of high-end items in a large suitcase they were smiling at each other holding hands nuzzling noses it was cute they were both obviously pretty wealthy too they wore matching Vineyard Vines sweatshirts and pastel pants and they even had matching Rolexes I asked them how they were doing and began bagging their items I asked what their weekend plans were s bagging was taking me a while later relevant they had just gotten engaged and we're going on a trip the next week so the clothes in suitcase they were getting made sense to me the first red flag was when the woman asked me do you mind hurrying up we have to be heading out soon I made sure she knew I was trying my best but they'd asked for every item to be in its own garment bag I even included hangers for them which we almost never do I really was trying my best when she began snatching the items from me and trying to bag them I let her know politely that I had not removed all the sensors from the items she reached over my register to grab bags which she'd said she had not wanted stated that she didn't care she would remove them herself and began shoving the remaining items in the bags my managers stood behind me and we exchanged what the heck looks but hey we try our best to serve our customers her fiance looks mortified once I'd finally gotten the clothing items bagged I told her alrighty guys let's get that suitcase on up so I can remove the sensor for you they said oh not yet my thought was oh hey it must be a separate purchase I rang them up they spent over $1,000 at my store which is rare for that purchase turns out the suitcase with the returned wouldn't have been a big deal except for the woman it really really was she flipped her hair and said I don't know why you would have processed our return first that's what stores usually do she turned to her fiance and said I don't think she's been working here very long she then flashed her fiance a lovely grin and knows nuzzled him again her fiance laughed it off uncomfortably and made a joke I rolled on with it even though I was getting annoyed I apologized saying sorry my mistake I didn't realize it was a return let's get it on up here for you do you have the receipt no tags on the suitcase and no receipt the man is getting antsy the woman is getting increasingly be her fiance looks incredibly uncomfortable but every few minutes she gives him that smile and a kiss as if she's not acting crazy here's how the conversation went from there me let's get that suitcase up here woman I'd really rather not thanks me ah me sorry I'm not clear on whether or not the suitcase is returned insert nervous laugh here woman I already told you it's a return maybe try to listen better to your customers me sorry about that let's take a look woman I already said I'd rather not me ma'am if it's a return I do need to see the inside to determine if we can take it back man sweetheart were running late let's just give her the suitcase woman no not once at this store have I had to hand a return over to be looked at why would I do that now at this point I am visibly angry the man is flabbergasted at its fiancees behavior I mean he looks absolutely shocked like this had never happened before he takes the suitcase from her and hauls it up onto the register only for her to try to wrestle it from him she gives up and I take a look inside the suitcase the outside whisper effect but the fabric inside was stained and ripped with no receipt no tag I had no choice but to tell them we could not take the product back the woman went ballistic she screamed at me saying she'd stuff my a in the suitcase if it were up to her the man looks afraid no terrified and he's trying to calm her down he tried to kiss her cheek but to no avail she begins to cry stating that she wanted to talk to the manager my hero of a manager swooped in and told her the exact same thing I did she pushed the suitcase over my register I'm a small person and easily could have toppled down with it if I was standing any closer she said it was our problem now and stormed out of the store her fiance stood there shocked holding their four huge bags of clothes he said as simple I am so sorry and left looking totally appalled none of my co-workers nor myself for that matter think this couple will make it through the night thanks for reading everyone felt good to get it off my chest the last story is saying no to a customer uh kind of you know how they always say never say no to a customer in retail well there was a time where I was actually able to get away with telling a customer no well kind of this is from when I was working for a big-box electronics company that was in the process of going bankrupt at the time and was closing its doors I was the person in charge of processing returns want to know what one of the first things that happens when a store is in the process of closing it stops taking returns the receipt printers would print this on the receipts and the cashier would either write all sales final or highlight the no return on the receipts so since I was in charge of dealing with returns at a store that was no longer taking returns you can imagine what my workload did so I spent my time wandering the store helping where I could with what I could one day I found myself at the customer service desk dealing with a customer who wanted to yup return something I think it was some car accessory gizmo but I don't remember I just remembered that it was sold for twenty eight twenty yeah I know my brain remembers some crazy pointless things anyway his receipt had a written in red magic marker no returns on it so queue attended 12-minute conversation that went something like this him I want to return this me I'm sorry sir but we're no longer accepting returns him why not me because the store is closing him but I want to return this me I'm sorry sir but we're not accepting returns anymore him but I drove down here to return this me I'm sorry sir as it says on your receipt we're not accepting returns anymore him but I need to return this me I'm sorry sir but we're no longer accepting returns him why not me because the store and company are closing all sales are final him but I bought it last week so I'm in the returns period me yes sir you would be in the returns period if the company were accepting returns and were undertaking normal operations but we're closing so all sales are final as it says on your receipt him but I need to return this me I'm sorry but all sales are final and we're not accepting returns him but I want to return this I think you can fill in the rest of the 10-minute conversation with each repetition this guy's getting just that little bit more peeved off as he's trying to gear to strong-arm his way into making us take a return for the record we were incapable of actually performing a return the entire function had been disabled in the registers so beyond taking the item throwing in a corner and waiting for the inventory mismatch it would pop up as in three weeks stealing 28:20 from a register and handing it to him there was nothing we could do so this isn't a case if we were choosing to not take a return or anything like that finally the guy decides we've hit that magical point where he can get away with asking to see a manager and makes the request to see the manager while I was technically a supervisor and not a manager I was embolden by the reality of the store closing I literally had three weeks left in the job had no performance incentives got paid by the hour and already had my schedule for the next three weeks confirmed I don't think it was possible to be fired at that point so I opted to have some fun I turned around right in front of him clasped my hands behind my back put on the fakest smile I could summon the energy to do turn back around to face him and said hello sir I'm the manager how can I help you in the absolute most obscenely brainwashed worker drone that has been trained to be cheerful and happy as anatomically can be tone I could think of at the time dude turns tomato red and gets super peeved off he starts screaming about calling corporate and getting me fired still having some fun with this I pick up the phone and dial the corporate number put it on speaker and crank the volume to max hello and thank you for calling company name we were got to inform you that company name will be closing its doors on date but you can still cash in on some great deals be sure to check out our stores for closing deals on the latest top tech be advised that all sales are final and we are not accepting any returns thank you for your business played over the speaker followed by a moment of silence before it repeated the guy just gets more peeved and declares he was going to sue us and stormed out leaving the item he wanted to return on the counter never did hear anything else from him thank you for watching bye
