[Music] all right it is monday night i'm working on the next video for you guys and i just wanted to mention quickly here that at the very end of this video um i'm going to answer a question that's been asked many many times regarding the terminology that i'm using when i order the concrete when i say low chart microfibers air entrainment the yardage the spacing and all that but i'm not going to answer that now or in the middle of the video because it's going to bore some of you but many of you asked so it is at the very end after the outro so if you're curious about that go ahead and take a look at that so other than that uh thank you for watching and i will see you guys tomorrow morning how much garbage do we make where is scott man he better be here you guys seen scott i got to say hi to him every day or my day ain't right there he is man i was worried there for a minute digging out some stuff that we need coffee business good oh yeah yeah if i don't say hi to scott every morning i just know i'm not going to have a good day thank you very much have a great day yep just the three of us hopefully we got it i got to send you to sony to get some color i gotta go get some conduit we gotta put all kind of conduit in the patio up in the pillars and all that daryl did you really drive this trailer home last night without tying these blocks down yeah right i hadn't tied down no you didn't i took twine oh yeah and then he took him off last night yeah oh yeah okay you know what i gotta go get conduit anyway i might as well just stop and get the color too follow him the schmitz he's gonna grab help him load up some rebar and then take him to the job and just get it ready to pour and i'll be right there bob just go to the job yeah you still smoking oh come on well i just pulled into a local supply company called riv crete it's a good place i get my color hardener and my uh release agent from them all the time i've been doing business here for a long time how's it going hey how you doing man good how are you good long time no see yeah yeah for sure how's business good morning how are you good yes sir all right have a great day how's it going sir good what'd you say switching suppliers no i always buy my color hardener from here oh okay i always have for the last 20 years even back when they were on bobbling yeah i love your videos yeah thanks for watching man i appreciate it what that dude falls over he's gonna have a bad weekend hey cheryl it's ryan from victory six and a half bag low shirt air microfiber five inch slump and if you can make sure it's lafarge cement i had to have grabbed the squeakiest cart in the world did you hear that yeah i almost got a headache just from driving it from there to here thank you have a great day all right it's friday here on the job so this morning all we're doing is we're pouring this front sidewalk al had an appointment so it's just bugs daryl and myself so we're going to go ahead and knock that out and then the goal today in the back here is to get some blocks laid and get the border set so the fire pit here i'm gonna lay that up uh right around that ring that galvanized ring that i have and then there's a seat wall around half of this circle with two pillars i'm gonna lay that up and then there's gonna be a stamped concrete border here and a stamped concrete border here and it's going to flow right into the stamped circle so it's going to look real nice but the goal is today to get that set so monday morning we can start pouring the stamped concrete man this customer set us up nice he's trying to get best customer of the year award it's going to be tough because we've had some good ones but he set us up nice with a cooler help herself filled it up with ice and gatorade and then he's got a coffee bar over here for us all set up man this is awesome thank you very much when you watch this video we really appreciate it for the walk yeah we'll just do like a half a buggy at a time so it don't change yeah darryl can run the buggy and then you can puddle i'll strike off hey did you see that look he's like not today brother bugs love striking off oh bob can strike off yeah yeah that'll be interesting this is lafaar cement i have to order specifically lafarge now see if there's a big difference i bet there is too morning oh i like the hat here man you just put that on this morning for us huh all right i'll have to put you on this video then just for that let's take a look that looks good man he actually came in a good slump hey for two gallons all right give us a minute [Music] [Music] so [Music] so let me scrape it out all right we just dumped the sidewalk drivers washing out bugs is both floating i'm gonna start edging up the sidewalk right now that went pretty good so we changed back over to lafar cement this morning and at least so far it seems like a night and day difference because if this was the concrete we used the other day we'd already be fighting it up here and it's nice and wet still so that's a good sign well that seems to be the difference the lafarge cement compared to the st mary's they've been giving us the last five loads this is more like it man this is what we want especially on a friday yes love it [Music] all right so bugs is in the front working on the walk i'm gonna start rebuilding this fire pit i was about halfway around it when i realized that daryl brought me a two and a half foot fire ring instead of the three foot firing so i took the blocks down and now i'm starting over again it's a little frustrating but it happens sometimes so i'm gonna i'm gonna try to set this camera up somewhere and put you on time lapse and i'm gonna build this fire pit real quick they go fast man once you get the first course it's one two three daryl you've been standing over there for like five minutes get the blocks and put them over here so i can start going chop chop [Music] all right so i just finished up the first course of the firing there the first course of any retaining wall or seat wall or fire pit is always the difficult one it's the time consuming course because you have to level them you know in both directions and now once you get the first course the rest of the courses basically you just glue them and stack them right on top of each other and goes up one two [Music] three [Music] why are you telling me how you screwed things up you cut way too much off that's what you did so i should take this black out redo it well you caught too much off that one too cutting too much off that's why there's gaps on the inside all right so we're going to run conduit in the center of these pillars so he can put a light on top of each pillar so i dig that down a little bit hello what's going on with you [Music] man my channel is tank and you better say something to everybody all right i gotta run i just wanted to say hi all right thanks bye daryl are you cutting without safety glasses no i got safety glasses go get safety glasses on you know i don't like you guys cutting without glasses and grab a mask too they're in the truck no i'm serious man you gotta wear a dust mask when you cut you won't cancer you'll be like bobby there was a whole box of dust mess where the dust mask al i know we had dust masks did you ask bugs i had a whole box of them did you take them home did you steal them tell me the truth why would i take dustband for colvin obviously yeah you did didn't you we just got to get up to there and then we got to finish setting all our forms for the borders and finish the pillar and the forms all here so we can pour monday morning well the guys are pouring a step in the back we poured this sidewalk this morning i got that all in time left so you guys saw that but turned out real real nice nice curvy sidewalk put a conduit under there for some lighting later on it turned out real good oh i saw it was super stiff but that's all right it's just smearing it anyway it doesn't matter it's hot over here though yeah that's still not like that other than what we poured out of stuff would have been hard wow that's very nice well i gotta be honest like you guys are pretty much just close to customer of the year award i said i want to work here all summer i mean you were you were like you're about this close and then i saw that you buttered the brat buns now you're only this close okay we should have put them on the grill to toast them i would have put it over the top but we're not done we still got a couple more days so i think i think you're gonna make it this is very very nice thank you so much very nice of you you're really in second right now honestly but now we gotta now we gotta give you a good job though which we usually don't do i just edit everything and make it look good you know well you know i'm never good when it comes to brats when my wife makes them i eat four i eat four brats when my wife makes them i love them man darryl this one ain't no good either let's just lay a pallet over there for all your mistakes there how come you just stand in the shade over there when we're all working in the sun i'm serious come on and it just start pouring out this concrete from the sidewalk it's hard i'm not worried about this getting damaged at all we just poured that step in the back and al was gonna smear it and stamp it and i told him to hold off we're just gonna smear it and uh stamp it on monday so it's pretty early in the afternoon we just had lunch but this might cause us to wrap it up for the day i think it's just a sprinkle it feels good it does i think it's almost done there what you been doing for 15 minutes come on it's going good so far it's just a little hot i'll see you monday boggs i'll see you guys in the morning have a good weekend nothing nothing for the boss man wow all right we're all done on day two here on this new project so the front walk is all done we poured that this morning and then i'll show you the back here so we made some progress on the back so we're pouring borders as you can see here all the way around the standard concrete's going in the center the stamped concrete's going on the borders and then it's going to flow into a stamped area up here around the fire pit and pillar seat wall area so that's kind of what we got done today and then that border goes up to the wall we did pour the patio door step but it started to rain and al was about to smear it so we're going to leave it alone and i was going to smear it and stamp it on monday while we pour the rest of this concrete here there are you tired me no not at all uh-uh i'm not really tired either it's only locked it's only like 92 i know a little humidity that's it it's just a little miserable but you know it's friday so i feel good so do i we are going to pour a little apron on the uh shed door there too three foot apron and then we're running electric up into these pillars we're gonna put lights on each pillar he's gonna have various landscaping lights on the outside of the patio too it's gonna be a nice job all right we're done for the week so i will see you guys right back here on monday morning adios all right so i'm at home depot just picking up some more supplies for the job today so i just ordered my concrete and i've had this question repeated over and over again uh people don't understand the terminology that i'm using when i order the concrete so i'm going to go over that just in a second here so the first thing you'll hear me say is how many yards i want 4 yards 40 yards whatever that's obviously the quantity of concrete that i want a concrete truck around here will hold a maximum of nine and a half yards before it becomes overweight so that's the most i can order on one truck so the low chart that's referring to the type of aggregate or the type of stone that i want in the concrete mix and you'll hear me say low chert there's many different types of stones and aggregates that you can order in the concrete many different sizes so the low church stone i use because it's a type of stone that doesn't readily absorb water and that's important up here in the north because stones that absorb water uh will freeze in the winter time and it will actually pop and it'll leave little divots on the surface of your concrete called chirp pops so that's why it's very important to order low shirt concrete up here in the freezing north the air that i say it's air entrainment air entrainment is a chemical that's added to the concrete basically to create little air pockets very very small air pockets within the concrete also very important up here in the north the concrete itself is porous so it absorbs water and when it freezes that freezing water expands and it needs a place to expand into and those little tiny air pockets actually gives room for that water to freeze within the concrete and gives it room to breathe so that that it doesn't it doesn't freeze and actually fracture and break the concrete apart so that's called air entrainment microfiber which i also add in the concrete is a type of reinforcement so they're like little tiny strands of fiberglass and really the purpose of those is that give the concrete tensile strength during the curing process so as the concrete's dehydrating it actually puts pressure on itself it's kind of like a waterlogged old work boot that will dry and as it dries it shrinks and it'll actually crack the leather it's the same idea with concrete as it dehydrates it shrinks it'll actually crack itself apart those are called shrinkage cracks and that microfiber helps to reduce the risk of those after the concrete's cured microfiber has very little to no benefit to completely cured out concrete that's why we use wire mesh as well and then sometimes you'll hear me say 20 minutes apart or 25 minutes apart that's referring to multiple truck orders that's the spacing that i want in between the trucks if i want the trucks 20 minutes apart i try to estimate in my head how long it's going to take to empty each truck say for instance it's going to take 20 minutes so i want the next truck 20 minutes right after that one so that keeps the concrete fresh as you're pouring so you can handle it and have time to work with it so i hope that answers that question i've had that question many many times on the comments section and like i said when i explain the control joints i'll answer those questions in a video like this if i get it repeated often enough
