Who stepped in the wet concrete?

[Music] so this morning uh we're gonna go continue pouring concrete on the job that you've seen in the previous video uh just wanted to say thank you to all of you who have subscribed and watched the videos i just crossed the 20 000 subscriber mark uh so my shout out this morning is to all of you who have watched and subscribed i really really appreciate it man it's just it's it's been awesome it's exceeded my wildest expectations when i started uh youtube i think 11 or 12 weeks ago somewhere in there so thanks again uh the comments have just been awesome honestly i've made a whole bunch of friends already you know the the instant messages the facebook comments and then the comments on the channel i get emails and phone calls it's been awesome man i love talking to all of you um you know i try to do the best i can with the comments obviously if you notice the the number of comments have gotten to the point where it's become overwhelming for me to uh try to respond to them all anymore but i do read the comments and i do respond to many of the comments so keep keep writing those comments it's awesome man i i really appreciate you guys so uh come along uh we'll see if we can have a morning boss wow you're looking a little tired this morning all right so we're pretty much set up guys are just finishing up getting ready for this morning's pour we're talking about big thunderstorms this afternoon so um kind of change plans we're probably not going to finish this driveway today so we're going to pour up to where that by four is there the shutoff and we're gonna pour the porch a little bit later morning guys so we're pretty much set ready to go just waiting on concrete so i'll see you when it gets here oh come on oh right on the new concrete oh man what was he doing what was that dog thinking hey tom ryan from victory yes sir i have that eight o'clock i need 13 yards uh six and a half bag low chaired air microfiber 5 inch slump 20 minutes apart oh stop drilling for a second i want to explain this i get a lot of questions about these dowels so we put these dowels into the foundation al's drilling the holes and what you don't want to do and i've had questions about this is put the steel dowel in the middle of the slab because obviously the driveway can heave up and down with frost and you don't want that to be locked in so we actually put the dowels right on the bottom of the slab so that the slab can actually raise with frost and it's not locked in that the idea with the dowels is just to prevent the slab from settling so i wanted to answer that question because i've had the same question over and over and over again so then on the other hand when you're doweling into concrete that you just poured or existing concrete that's not on a footing that's going to move at the same rate you can dial right in the middle and connect those slabs because they're going to move together and you actually want them held together so drill those right in the middle customer bought us doughnuts daryl thank you thank you really been blessed with great customers recently i had some over spill from yesterday never leave this stuff in there because you can do a beautiful job have a little over spill like this and that's all the customer sees and you have an unhappy customer even though you did a huge job everything looks beautiful you leave a little bit of mess like that it changes their opinion about you so make sure you get the jobs cleaned up don't leave stuff like this laying around you ready autumn yeah okay ready to make that easy money did you see i made you famous huh you're the one i rejected the other day right last week yeah i rejected your loan but you didn't get fired all right i'm glad he didn't get fired yeah i put you on youtube pretty dry you ready daryl it's still really stiff but another four gallons in man how many gallons did i put in this already i put uh 11 11 gallons already still stiff four more it's still stiff two more gallons that's 17 gallons [Music] the wire is not on the ground it's never on the ground i know it looks like it's on the ground because i'm way up here looking down on it but we don't leave the freeway and then once you hit pilgrim it clears up yeah yeah it's about eight miles so thank you wash concrete in the street again you'll learn your lesson after today [Music] all right so that while ago we poured that at eight stupids at 11 30. we had a pretty good lunch break in between the driveway set up very fast so i'll just finish striking this i'm going to finish that off driveway's i'll see you tomorrow if you're scrubbing don't call me i'm busy all right so i just uh got a call from al we poured a stoop at 11 30 and uh he finished it and then it started raining so he just called me and said the rain's coming in sideways and it's getting on the stoop and it needs help so i'm running out there i told you with concrete work man it's always something ah i told you if it starts raining don't call me why did we walk in the driveway your amazon guy ran right over the driveway he left footprints in the driveway we got caution tape up all the way down the whole driveway so just letting you know and once it whitens out they won't look too bad but they're there no goodie i hope this is worth it like this is a perfect goal yeah right it's probably something small oh water wipes wipes yeah maybe to wipe the marks out like i said man it's always something always something a stoop looks real good it's just really that one one little piece on the end where you are i'll just gotta wait this piece here this little tiny piece here wind or wind blew rain in through the side and got some water on that but the rest is fine it's just this tiny piece and then he'll trowel it and rebroom it'll be fine it looks like it's starting to dry it's going to be a little while though it's at least it's starting to be an hour all right all right see you later all right so we just left the job and uh you know as i noted the amazon guy walked across the wet concrete even after being told not to i think he just had one of those moments where his brain stopped working i don't know i mean we've all done that honest i've done that everybody's done that but that's just what happened he was told not to to go the other way he did go the other way but after he put the package on the porch he walked right over the driveway that he was just told not to walk on so anyways two quick stories of other people that have walked on wet concrete in my career so i have a whole i have a whole bunch of them so one time we just left a job and it was really far away it was like 45 minutes away which is farther than we normally go for a job we left we got all the way home and the pizza delivery guy bypassed the caution tape and walked all the way up the sidewalk that we had just finished and it was late it was getting dark so the concrete you know it stays pretty wet for a long time after the sun goes down so that had permanent prints in it there was one time we finished a driveway and the guys left again it was late it was getting dark everybody was gone and nobody actually realized what happened till way later and it was way too late to fix so anyways the neighbor had a big old dog and the dog i don't know if they didn't tie it up or whatever but uh he walked all over the new driveway of the house that we just finished the concrete there was paw prints everywhere i went to go look at it it was it was pretty bad so what happened in that one is the neighbor who owned the dog his homeowner's insurance actually paid for a brand new driveway so the neighbor that had the prince in the driveway he didn't get a new driveway um you know he didn't have the new driveway removed and replaced he just kept the driveway but basically he got a driveway for free that just had paw prints in it but i don't know if i were in his situation i would take a free driveway with paw prints in it so i think he made out so all right if you guys have any stories of people or animals or i have a lot more but i'm not going to take forever leave them in the comments below i would love to read through the comments of your stories of people that have walked through the concrete that you had just finished i know there's tons of stories out there so go ahead and share how much garbage do we make good morning it is friday which is my favorite it's five something in the morning and uh today we're going to be finishing up the job that we started earlier this week we just have one pour left just the end of the driveway so we're going to be finishing up that job next week the weather looks really good so that's great because i'm getting behind we've been fighting weather all week this week yesterday was a rain day next week the job is a custom job it'll be really cool uh it's gonna have a fire pit a seat wall gonna have some lighting in there pillars uh stamped concrete for a border around a patio and a new front sidewalk and it's it's gonna be a really nice job so i'm looking forward to that so all right well let's go to work i will see you guys at like an actor now he thinks he thinks he really is famous no back up just a little bit hey remember on that hot sunny day i yell at you don't back up when you dump yeah i had a reverse don't back up when you dump because now i got to push all that concrete about eight feet that way where daryl's standing that's a lot more work for us put your foot on the brake or leave it in forward when you dump in cash so that's obviously minus what he's given me already but a lot of you guys ask me what i charge for the jobs and uh you know i'm completely open and honest about my pricing i don't care who knows my pricing i really don't pretty much everybody that's commented how much of that job costs i just gave you a straight answer what it costs and whatever you guys need to know i'll let you know whatever i can do to help you guys out i'm all about it so i guess in my mind in my heart i just i want to see people succeed and i know there's been a lot of young guys commenting and asking me about starting a business and so forth and you know i'll get around to talking about that stuff you know what my philosophy is as far as getting into business and what you should be ready to expect i'll get into that at some point but as far as pricing goes just ask man and i'll tell you i'll give you square footage prices and all that it's fine i don't mind that at all so as i mean some days are kind of tolerable but today's really bad man it's basically like you're walking around nude yeah you're starting to become famous how do you feel about that oh feeling really good yeah yeah man you pretty much you're pretty much like a young tom cruise how cool is he yep yeah hi there yeah are you busy tomorrow morning um i don't know i don't know okay i love you guys i was thinking to pick you up and go get you to the big and tall store and get some longer t-shirts tomorrow morning yup tomorrow morning we got to find you some bigger shirts man my editing just taking so long you know yeah man i have to edit so much stuff out and i have to do blurring and everything i think it would be a lot easier if i got you some really big shirts how do you think yeah all right so we just got this concrete down al's finishing up edging how is it out concrete's good it's not setting up today it's cool out it's cloudy out it's a perfect day for pouring concrete and this was a very small pour it was only 11 yards so we rolled that down to meet the driveway there the neighbor's driveway it's a shared driveway so i'm just going to take a minute here it's not quite ready for joints yet that's the next thing i have to do but i've been having a lot of questions in the comments section and emails and you know facebook messenger instagram a lot of young guys or guys in general are contemplating going into business and they've asked me questions uh one question in particular is how to get into business or when do you know that you're ready to get into business and i guess my philosophy was very conservative i'm a very conservative person just in general all the way around every part of it so what i did and the safest way to get into business is just to start really slow so yeah you can you know you can take out loans and get a bunch of trucks and get all the equipment you need and then you're going to have a ton of stress and pressure you're going to have that financial burden over your head constantly so the way that i did it and the way that i recommend a safe way to do it is to continue working where you're at at a full-time job and you know start you'll start getting side jobs start doing the side jobs on the weekend or at nights you know just fit it in and this is what i did and eventually what happens is you start to get so much side work you don't you don't have time for your regular job anymore and that's when you know it's time you know to step out on your own so you'll have the work already and you'll have established a little bit of a reputation by that time already and uh if you do it that way you can make it so a couple tips and ideas for you to get work number one the real a real easy cheap way is flyers that's not going to be that's not going to have the most impact flyers job signs are excellent you guys probably have noticed that i have job signs made up we put them at the end of the job for neighbors and passers-by and cars they see a driveway and uh job signs do really really good obviously you're going to want to do a website honestly like a professional high-end website is not necessary you don't have to plop down ten thousand dollars to get a great website made it's not really your it's not going to be the primary way that people find you is through your website but it is important to have a decent website even if you get like a decent template website get some before and after pictures a little bit about yourself and uh you know let them know that you do quality work that's really all you need honestly for a website and then once you get established maybe your first or second probably after your second year a really great thing to do is to get into your local home shows your home improvement shows ours is at like our state fair convention center we have one in one or two in waukesha we have them all over the place but try to get yourself involved and set up a booth at a home improvement show that's going to get you work they're really really good some shows can profit you many many jobs from one show so that cost some money you probably can't do that right away obviously getting into a booth and paying for it and building a booth it all takes money but after you get a little bit established and you're ready to take the next step try to get involved in that because that's a that's an awesome way to get work uh people are coming through those shows looking to spend money they're actually looking for you instead of you out there looking for them so they're uh they're really good those are just some tips and tricks for you guys that are thinking about getting into business i encourage it man if you're a hustler you know if you're if you're confident and you're dedicated and you're focused anybody can get into business and make it and be successful that's that's just what i've learned i'm nobody special i'm not a super smart guy i'm not an eloquent speaker as you guys can tell i'm just an average dude you know but i'm a hard worker and i love what i do and uh you know if you have that in you you can get into business and you'll be successful as
