Create an animated interview pip using the ATEM Mini Extreme's SuperSource

tecondo my name is petra and welcome again to takano on saturday evening here in the netherlands if you want to support the show uh then well basically it's really easy the only thing that you really it's i'm i'm so flabbergasted really uh i didn't realize that this would be possible uh i have to admit that i wanted to reach this goal by the end of this year in order to next year go all the way until a thousand subscribers and the reason it's not really because of the amount of people the reason is that i want to give you even a more exclusive experience and that is only possible if youtube allows me to enable some features and that will only be possible if i have a thousand subscribers and four thousand watch hours and so in both cases also the workshop watch hours is uh at the moment roughly um 1750 after 4 000 so that is roughly up to par with the amount of people that are subscribed so thank you so much for that and i cannot do it without you guys uh and you guys are the people from finland extremely cool but what is even more cool is that uh evil uh actually has his atm mini extreme iso uh so we're bros we're bros we're we're gonna make it really cool and so today you're gonna learn something that you can do with your own uh atm mini extreme pro which is cool as well uh my dad is also in the house that's my dad right there and my dad is actually the person that will also help me if something goes wrong in the in the end so he's a little bit of the moderator um he does not have to moderate her authorization yet because i have to admit that i have not done that yet because this is going way too fast for me but i like it don't get me wrong hey brad what's going on uh from canada i got mine about 10 days ago really cool brat well again welcome also here at live and direct uh and uh indeed like my uh oops like my dad says oh welcome and also stevie cam what's up man how are you really appreciate you for being here uh taking the time oh there you go that's coast so that is uh that is where you can watch that and indeed so today we're gonna talk about something really really cool and that is that we are gonna create a super source and we're gonna do that on our trustworthy a10 mini now this is at this screen which you see right here is actually coming directly from this atom unit uh this one right here this camera right there not um i'm actually telling you that to you because i got this feedback that the other day and which is really cool that the people do want to understand what they're looking at so if you see this camera right here you're actually watching a uh the camera that is which isn't uh sony a6400 uh and it's connected via ndi not sdi not hdmi but via ndi to a vmix production the vmix production i can also show you that one so let's show that very quickly so this is what my uh production looks like here at the moment so this is where everything is brought into so that this is the the streaming pc that that you are watching and next to that we also have this uh graphic right or this this video right here and this is literally coming from the atm mini so if i uh press cut here you will see that it goes to this screen right there and this is this is the x the extreme right here and you see a lot of philosopher of cables etc going on here um something green screen over here uh which is uh yeah basically really cool but this is also the the computer that i'm gonna use for uh the examples there you have a vmix computer that is only doing one thing and that's bringing in this right here that's all it takes and so just a nice animated loop so that is what this computer right here does and basically that is what it is all about so let's so now you know what you can expect um and um yeah so so before i really start i want to tell you something about what we're going to do today so what we're going to do is a picture in picture just like for example uh this one right here this is also a picture in picture um which is basically this one right there and what we're going to do is that we will be doing that in with the atom extreme and uh the reason why we're doing that with the atm extreme and that is something that is important to understand is that uh for in order for this what we do today to work we need a super source and supersource is only available at the moment on the atm extreme and the atm extreme iso so those two are the ones that you can actually use to make that work so that hopefully will help you with with to understand what you're going to see in a minute by the way this is something that i'm testing out so i hope that that you like it i cannot show it all time because it's actually going via this computer right here um let me let me show you that one now this little bit of bit of a trying out there so this computer is actually going a green screen because that is what you actually will see so if i do this you will actually see it popping up but that's another thing right there for you to show you how things are going also uh cool of you to be here over at uh facebook kathleen uh kathleen is over on facebook and looks like you're really enjoying that device oh kathleen i am it is fantastic device is actually a an enabler and it's also something that i would say that if i would check it out about a year ago i would say yeah it's not really up to par but now i think it's it's really up to par so that's the reason why i am like so excited about it um really appreciate that also that elo is also in the house as you can see he just uh popped up right there uh so if you if you are so cool to to just comment you will see your name popping up here uh this only works for youtube. by the way but welcome you mr uh dr hilo i really appreciate you for being here so all right i will uh show this this this thing in a couple of minutes uh but for now let's remove it from the screen and let's go ahead and set the stage so first and foremost let's talk about what a super source is um i i did already talk about it in the video but maybe it doesn't hurt to give you a brief um a brief a repetition on what it really is and why you should care so a supersource is a stacked environment like with photoshop you have multiple layers that you can put on top of each other you've got a back pane then you've got four maximum of four boxes and those boxes can be camera inputs and on top of that you can have an additional layer and that can be your front layer your your front page so to speak and that by itself will allow you to have a lot of flexibility but that is something that you roughly can also do without the supersource but what you can also do is that with the the the macros you can do really cool animations but you do make need to make them yourself it does not come out of the box so the use case that we're going to do this is a use case what i am not going to do because i will show you how i bring in my guests at the later stage it's not by the a time mini however you can if you like do that with for example this product right here which is the atom streaming bridge and all that you have to do is that you have to hook it up here on the ethernet well try to try to focus focus focus there you go here you can put it on the ethernet and on the other side you can have a hdmi out or sdi out and that is something that you can bring into your atm mini if you have one um you do need to have an a10 mini pro pro iso extreme or extreme iso to do that the original atm mini will not be able to reduce that and the way that you can see that very easily is that you need to have an on air button on your device that is really important that you have that and that's typically all the way on the right top level um i i don't have that zoomed in but it's right here in this one there that one right there that is the one that you need to have on your system now that you've seen that a nice mess of mine i'll just go ahead and zoom in a little bit so that next time you don't have to look at all the all that mess there you go trying to make it a little bit more nice there you go perfect all right now now that we're that we are all known how you can do it so what we're going to do is a picture in picture two pictures side by side one for yourself and one for your guests and what we're going to do is that we're going to bring it full size then we're going to make it smaller and on the right hand side or the or myself or you yourself big and also on the on the left-hand side but so that you need to have um from from big to small that's one animation then from small to big that's the second animation then you have small to big on this one this is another animation and small too small sorry big too small so you have to have four animations to make that work so in this workshop and again this workshop is really because you guys are awesome and you have been supporting me over at youtube for so long and really appreciate that uh because of you know every single step closer to the thousands subscribers on youtube will bring me closer to bringing you more awesomeness all right that being said let's go ahead oh we just got somebody in so let me just say a quick hi to renee if you guessed me in that's a dutch for uh sorry german for uh how are you i hope that you're doing well and i also see that danny lopez is also connected and um well let's just show it one more time because i really like to show off the new feature that that i just uh have so here you go here you have all of the people that are watching live here at the during the the station uh unfortunately this only works on youtube this part not on facebook but hey that's where i'm focusing these days and uh let's check it out before i really start and then i'm really gonna start what's up greg how are you and um also renee is saying and that he is fine greg adams cool of you to be here all right so now let's talk about the way that we are going to make it work so like i said we need to create macros and if i go back to this system do you have right here oh let me put this one a little bit closer sorry for all the cables that's just a matter of not having a lot of space here but on the atm mini extreme iso we have six macro buttons here this is the only together with the extreme these are the only eight hands that have macro buttons out of the box that you can really use which is really cool so let me go a little bit closer to this one because here you can see them also so these six are right there and the reason why i'm making a lot of fuss of those buttons is that um other than other people uh who use for example companion to also make this happen with the stream deck and yes i do use my stream mac myself but that's for this computer right here but if i'm on the road i want to limit the amount of gear as much as possible that being said there will be a workshop on companion coming shortly um not today and not to not next week but but in a couple of weeks you will talk very heavily and i think that we will have a few videos on that topic so that is mind-boggling really cool uh product okay those micros that i just showed you you can program them and that is also the way that we can enable you to create those animations i see uh people draw uh jumping in uh i will be uh talking about uh yeah we'll probably be talking about you in a minute but please give me some time to uh to work on this first and uh let's check it out so um i do need to remove the key i see so let's just remove that quickly there you go so there you go so it all starts with the atm software controls so the adam software control which you can see right here let me zoom out a little bit so that you have the full screen and so let's just oh that's not possible all right then i'll do it right here [Music] so there you go and that's about right i'll just remove the greens now there you go so now you have the full the full picture so this guys is the atm software control and this will allow you to create macros so macros is a an amount of different functionalities that you can use and it just records it but what's important about macros is that it will only it will only record the change it will not record the state that you start with so what i typically do is that i make sure that everything is wrong at the start so what we want to do is that i want to start with let's say this picture right here so this is like this is camera one um yup this is camera one and this is camera two so again so this is camera two which you see right now from the top and camera one is this one right here and if i go to super source which is one button here on the on the system right here and i just hit cut then you see camera one this is this one right no that one oh my gosh it's at the top left and the camera two is the top or right and this is default this is what you get out of the box and you can actually change that and i have to switch a little bit because i want to show you the full-on system because otherwise you cannot uh really see what i'm doing so now this is uh the one that you just saw uh saw that is the default let's change it a little bit so that you can see what it looks like so i'm going here to palette sorry about that so i'm going to palettes then supersource and that is the one that i've selected but if i go to this one right here you will see that this changed and if i go to this one right here it is again changed and you get the drill if i put this one it's again changed so as you can see there is a couple of default functions that that we can use to get things going and next to that you also have for example uh box control so here you can actually let's go back to the the first one right here this one so let me show you again so this is what the first one looks like and let's add uh the same cameras twice so that we have four cameras just to show you how that works so in order to do that you go to box control you go to box three and you select camera one i repeat that for camera box four and then make that camera two so now if i go back to this one right now you'll see the same cameras twice so that is very powerful but it is a little bit well dull right it is dull because you cannot really see more than you actually want you want to have a bit more of a oomph to it now in my previous supersource example that i also send out to you which you can still download and i actually added a background that was just a flat background with a bit of a purple yeah like like for example that one right there it's a bit purplish bluish right yeah basically my um my branding but for to today i actually want to step a little bit up so what i've done is that if i go back what i've done is that i've added an additional camera and that is bringing in some really cool animation so let's go ahead and show that what it works like so this is again showing what the status was this is the status at the moment right here and um if i go down to this page right here i can now go to art and i'm going to change the media player fill to camera eights that is the one that i'm pushing in right now so camera eight now has that animation uh going and to show that to you here you go that is with that animation in the back as a camera number eight so that is the first step that i did so just bring in the background via the atm control software right here under super source then go to the second tab art and then change the fill to the fill source to camera 8 and that is the backdrop of this super source now i need to come back a little bit here just just to show you one for one more thing and that is that i really need to tell you that it is important to note that um um that that you cannot um use borders with the super source that you have with the eighth amendment extreme so super source used to be a feature that was only available on the bigger switchers the consolation 8k or the um atm 4me for sure and i think also the two of me but definitely for me so you have to pay like yeah top dollar to get this functionality and now now it's really already there which is really really cool um before i go i go a little bit further with uh with this right here i just wanted to make sure that i have everybody here uh i see uh some agree yeah that sounds very mexican spanish but i don't know uh dr ela says always and uh my my that is talking to i believe renee in german so that's that part right there okay so background has been set and now what we're going to do now is that we're going to bring on uh let me why am i doing that wrong the whole time let me quickly fix that oops do you see that do you see that green part right there i need to fix that quickly so i'll just do that right here and remove this one there you go now that should be fixed oh oh petra what are you doing professional all right so um this is again where where we are at the moment um ah there you go so that's this is where we where we are and now we're gonna basically create our own animation again picture and picture so the way that i typically have picture picture is that if you uh talk to to a other person it's probably gonna be a box oops like a box around me so that is what we're going to do so we're going to make boxes that are square to start with and maybe we're going to change it a little bit but that will be the starting point side by side but i also want to have a big box in the center if somebody's talking and the starting point of the from from my perspective is really the guest because if i want to go from me to a guest i want that from then on it needs to be perfect that means and so i will always start with saying hello gus how are you where do people know you from and then i'll switch to that person and then we will have the supersource and what is different than last time is that this time i want to have a little bit more of that that cool backdrop going our way so again i'm talking about this backdrop right here okay now let's start how to let's talk about how to do that so first we need to create change the boxes so what we're going to do the first thing is that we go to presets and we're going to make sure that we have a baseline and the baseline for me is two boxes so i'm just gonna press this one right here but i'm not gonna do that now because i'm i want to start with something that is wrong so i am what i'm gonna do is that that i'm gonna stick with this one which is wrong and then i'm gonna flip to this one right here so that's the starting point so maybe i don't know how to maybe i can show that to you guys let me let me quickly fix that because i want you to really see what the changes are on the end result um so let's make a quick picture and picture and let's show it how that works in phoenix just to let you know all right so this is the vmix that i'm using and what we're going to do is that i am going to uh create a new picture in picture i'm going to make it very easy on myself uh because i'm lazy uh so i will be starting with a colored which is a black backdrop i'm gonna put it on the fourth position and basically that's this one right here and then i'm gonna uh show my um my laptop now this one i think no that's what this one uh i'm going to show that one small and the other one what do you stuck where is it which one is it let me see this one so i need number uh number five okay number five that one okay so this one is going to be full screen and the other one will be uh smaller so let's just do that this will round so let's change this uh wait a sec i'm making a mess out of it i'm making a mess out of it um let's just remove it right now it's black again yeah that one that one needs to be small like so it's like so so that you can see all the time what i'm doing right there so that's the first thing and then the second thing is that i want to show you uh my screen and i want to make sure that you uh maybe the other way around so let's do that one right there oh that one goes there and that one is away and then i'm gonna i am making a mess today [Laughter] i'm making a master day yes that's what i wanted to do oh no huh that's what i wanted to do why am i doing this wrong oh yeah that's that's okay all right let's make this one full screen like so and and then make this one a little bit smaller the other one and then we're good to go ah yes okay yeah but this is too small because i want you to understand whatever i'm doing so that one goes there and the other one that one can be way smaller because we'll we'll go there occasionally guys all right phew wow that was a little bit of a mess there you go um [Music] okay so let's uh first uh first check out uh because this was a little bit of a mess there sorry about that um amazing uh dr eliza's uh loved the diverse languages yep that's really cool uh renee is now also on vaccination um i won't clear it up all right so sorry about that a little mess there but i thought it would be cooler that you see what's happening so below you'll see uh what is going on and actually i can actually also put myself in there uh so let's do that as well so i'm gonna do that too boom and then let's make myself very small because i am not that important so let's just put myself there and then crop is a little bit because of course why not ah that's that one that's perfect perfection all right there you go so now you can see below what is what is happening on the right-hand side which you see on my screen and this is a bit of a mess but hey it works and at least you can see whatever i do right here below is happening now you see that there's a there's a delay that delay don't worry that's not related to the atm extreme it's really because i'm using this one to a vmix computer and from here to that computer so it's a little bit of a there's a little bit of delay there but don't worry that's really no delay at all apart from that okay all right that being said let's uh start with uh with the creation actually looking at this i'm walking i'm looking there so i actually have to flip this this camera darn it anyway but i have to watch there so it's a little bit awkward there um so now let's let's talk about uh maybe i should change that ah what the hell we're now we're making time where i'm i'm going to make this up to you guys but i want to make it as awesome as possible for you guys so i'm gonna put this one on the other side um oh that's nice can i also just get it no i cannot that's too bad um let's start let's put it right there and then let's put this one let's put that one also on the other side right there and let's put that one on this side there you go now i have to go back to my screen so that i have myself there now it should be logical for you guys uh okay let's uh oh there you go so now you you should be able to to see me you should see you so if i'm i'm watching here i'm actually watching the screen that you see right there and the end result is right there unfortunately not fully because of the way it works but all right so let's let's start with this so we have now the the system to a standard and the standard is the this one right here this one right there now what we're going to do is that we're going to start a recorder and that recording is a macro recording and that's the second menu option hit micros and now you have the micros pane now what you do is that you see that you have a create and a run tab and what we're going to do is that we're going to use the create tab to create the um the macros and we're going to go into the plus sign the plus sign will allow you to fill in a macro and we want to start with the guest uh being big so so this is the first one and that is going to be uh guest so every time with we're going towards our super source that will be the first one that we can do don't worry you can also go to another one and then move back but being logical button one is always the guest that's in my opinion so guessed big that's the name and then i'm hitting record so now it is starting to record the the thing all right so what we're going to do is that we need to make sure that whatever we do now it is initializing the first setup so there's no animation needed so uh why i'm saying that is that if you don't need any animation that everything that i do so now i'm waiting and i'm waiting that's not being picked up by the macro the macro just says okay you're doing this action then you do this section you do this section and then that action and it's going to go like depending not looking at the time that it took you to work with it yes it's possible to to put in delays and we will be using heavily the delays at the later stage but not now we're gonna initialize the macros so first and foremost i'm gonna make sure that we are going from a four box to a two box that's the first thing that i'm doing the second thing that i'm doing is that i forgot is that i actually need to make sure that i get my correct back drop so i'm going to go to art and i'm going to first say it's going to be not camera 8 but i don't know color bars look and then i'm going to go back to camera 8 so now it makes it that is d so if you get uh my macro at the very ends and so yeah and it will be a downloadable for you guys then uh you will know that on camera you need camera eight to be their backdrop and you will need to take care of your own backdrop i cannot provide that to you but there are loads of possibilities you can either go to video hive or you can go to other places where you can download that for you doesn't have to be a video but to be honest the video looks really really cool so basically that's the reason okay then what i'm going to do is that i'm going to make sure that the camera of the guest is huge and my camera is gone so my camera is that one right there so the top left one is i see that as camera one so the camera one is not that's that's that's that's me and camera two is the guest and the guest goes via in this particular example had this streaming bridge right here all right so in order to do that we need to just remove the the that that one right there so in order to do that we go back to presets and we see that we have box four that is not enabled so we have to go to box one box one is connected to camera one and that camera one is the one that yeah well we we we use for yeah as as the as the interview were so me uh i want to get rid of that whole box so what i'll do is that i will what i'll do is that i will make sure that the size size is correct because that makes makes my life very easy so you can just go to the to the size and then change it by by clicking this and changing it like so so here you can see that you can change the size of that box so let's make that bottom let's make that box um i see it with a little bit of delay so that's a reason so let's make it a little bit bigger and let's position it a little bit in a way that i oh yeah i don't care about that at the moment there you go i do like this size to be honest that's a really nice size and i'm gonna just remove it all the way from the picture poof gone so that's the first one right there but um but now come to think of it i need it for the for the size so i'm going to make sure that the the second box is the same size so i can just copy this size right here ctrl c go to box 2 and copy that here ctrl v boom so now that is the same size but now the exposure the y position also needs to be the same so let's copy that one right there ctrl c and go to camera two and make sure that that is also the same that's the y position that should be working but let's just give give it some let's do it right there let's see that looks good now let me see it in a bigger shot see if that is good enough no that's not good enough let's make it a little bit bigger so i'm just a little bit bigger uh that looks okay is right one step lower there you go that's that's perfect that's what i want to see so now we have uh the size correct so now i can and remember we're still initializing so whatever i do now i don't really care about how what i've done so far this is just the starting point so i'm going back to camera one making sure that that one is deep off the screen oh wait a sec this is boxed camera two of course uh wait go into camera box one remove that from yeah how far are you going there you are get it out of the way there we go so now it's out of the way and now we want to make sure that this one is of course central centered so now we're going to box two it's a lot of uh trying things out and actually come to think of it i just want to make it a bit bigger so because i don't the the backdrop is important but it's not that important right so i do want to have a little bit space on the on the on the lower end for the name so i'm making sure that i have to that's that space uh and i think that i'm gonna i'm already liking it so i am a little bit oh go up ah come on the delay is killing me [Laughter] all right so that's that that's a delay but that's okay and then making sure that it's a little bit centered unfortunately you don't have the lines to do to show you that it centers but now i'm going to show you what it looks like boom that's what it looks like so this is the first camera position that you will have and basically this is all you have to do so there is no delay this is the starting point for everything so this is number one and as you can see i don't know if you can see but you also see that we're recording number one so number one is i actually highlight it here on this uh under the deck okay this is the starting point this is the initialization so we're done this is uh and we're gonna say stop big so now what happens is that if i would put this on the bay on the basic setup for example this one and as you can see there's there are no uh formal uh prefixes i can actually go here to uh run i can say guest big play boom there you go so it always starts with this one and i don't have to do anything apart from clicking on the button so i go again go here and i'm going to go live on this on the machine itself the other hand is here and both changed that is awesome so now we have the the starting point of everything now we're going to do the second part and that is that we want to move from this position to the other position now we now know how big that the other box will have to will has to be so that makes a life a little bit easier uh so at least the height will be uh known um but let's let's try to figure out how to do it so what i want to do now is that i want to um mitigate that this box right here needs to go to a square and to the right hand because right inside is always the guest for me at least not the left-hand side that's where i typically am but now i want to make it a um how to say that an animation so now i need to take it take something into account and that is that i need to take into account that i need to have some keyframes to do that now typically you have 30 frames a second so if you want to have that go on for for about a second then it takes 30 frames but you know i personally think that a half a second is really good uh to show you what half a second is uh i'm gonna fade between two uh two camera positions uh so what i'll do is that i'm gonna go to this one i'm gonna go back to this screen right here so this is a cut right there so this is one cut without a delay but now i'm going to add 0.5 seconds delay right there and this is how fast it is if i would make it one second it's going to be like this which is already longer and two seconds that's about 60 frames that's even longer so i'd like half a second i like it as quickly as i as i can get it so that is the reason why i am choosing for well basically half a second which means 15 frames so that's an important one 15 frames to make that happen so it means that we have 15 steps to go from this screen to the side by side screen all right so that's a lot of the work and again we start with a a setup and macros do not know what the previous part was so what we're going to do is that we're going to create the we're going to say create and we're going to say um we're going from guest big to side by side so it goes from that one so i need to tell uh i need to always use this button if i have a big guest so um so from guest to pip picture in picture that's that's basically what it means okay well then we have a lot to do so let's uh let's start with it first thing that i want to do is that i want to start with um just just some small steps to get things started um and the way that i'm doing that is that i'm going to use one or two steps just as an example then i'm gonna go to the to the end and then by just filling some numbers i'm gonna go that route and i'm only gonna use the the the y position all right so um let's go ahead let's make that happen so first and foremost i need to make sure that my box is a correct position so again what i'm doing now you're not going to see but i make sure that it's exactly the same height and on the same location the same location in the picture so i'm going to go back to box one which is still camera one i'm gonna move it back into frame and as you can see it is really too small there you go so now what i'm gonna do is i'm gonna increase the size so that it's 100 percent correct so i'm going to use the size and i'm going to increase it increase it so that it's 100 percent the same size oh and it's a little bit too low so i'm also gonna change the y position a little bit so that it goes up a little bit um i want to make it as perfect as i can so i am paying a little bit of attention here um so let me oh ho ho ho ho that's too too quick that's way too quick um yeah and then a little bit more size ah perfect don't touch it this is perfect okay so now i'm gonna move it back because this was just a matter of making sure that it is possible to use it all right so now everything that i've done now is just making sure that everything is is fine and basically i can all i could have done that also as part of the first macro but i forgot about that this happens guys you might want to revisit the thing okay but now what i'm gonna do is that i'm gonna move camera two to the right and then also minimize the the width so i'm going to crop it i'm making it more square so that's what what we're going to do and now we're going to also start the animation so i what i'm going to do is i'm going to add a pause of one frame so oh yeah so the duration that this is seconds and this is frames again 30 frames a second so it's 15 frames for half a second so i'm just adding one frame boom so now i have added that frame and what i'm gonna do now is that i'm actually gonna start to move a little bit to the right and at the same time i'm gonna start cropping a little bit so what i'm gonna do and i'm going to box two which is camera two which is the guest and i'm going to then i'm going to add a pause so um add pause again one frame add pause and we're going to continue doing this a few times and again at the very end i'm gonna extrapolate a little bit because otherwise it will take too long um so what we're gonna do now we're gonna again move it to the right but now of course we also have camera one that we can start to bring in so we'll just bring that one in a little bit like so and of course that one is also cropped so i'm gonna crop the right side a little bit because that's the only thing that you can see so we're just going to say 2 here so that is cropped here and then we will con continue a little bit again with box two and we're again changing the crop a little bit and we're gonna add again four on this side and that side is also four so and we're gonna move it again to the right so it's a little bit of a of a thing a little bit of a yeah trying things out but it will work now let's add a pause again and then we're gonna gonna do one more time so we're gonna bring in box one again a little further so like it can be quite quite a lot more something like here and uh we're adding again once on one side a little bit of a yeah of a crop right maybe let's put it one more there we go uh and then i think that this one can actually go a little bit further that side okay so now i have a an additional position and we can go on like this for for for some time so let's do that because why not but i will show you how you can make it even better for yourself wait a sec kermit is here and he has some plastic that he wanted to use so beauty of it um but we're gonna we're gonna continue a little bit um but i forgot if i had a frame but that's fine and we're gonna go back to box two and let's just make this five and that one five right there and let's move it a little bit to the position i think that we're almost there with that one so we're gonna go this route let's give it quite some power here and then also here make it six beauty thing is is that that if you would uh make it go as fast as possible to certain and then ease out a little bit so it's so it's not as like the whole time that's not going to be a video right um all right go back to camera box 2 camera 2 that is that one and then i'm gonna go again position a little bit that way but i'm now gonna start to try to make it work perfectly so i'm gonna be a little bit more harsh on that setup it's almost at the location that i want to have it so that's great and going back to box one and move this one again i'm going a little bit further than you might think that you need to go but i'm still gonna cut down on the um the crops and now you see that we're almost there right but not yet so again add a pause and now we're gonna make it worthwhile so now we're gonna go back to box 2 and as you can see it's it's a bit tedious work but once you have it the result the end result is really cool so i'm going i'm actually again adding some crop i am a bit too much i think let's make it 7.5 yeah i think that that would be even nice and result there you go and then let's put this one in the final position it's going to be roughly there yeah and then let's continue with the other sides the camera one and i need some additional steps there uh because needs to be ending with that one so again moving in a little bit that way that route a little bit over the top i know but don't worry about it it's gonna be okay because i'm gonna put this one at 7.5 and the other one also a 7.5 and that would roughly mean that it's none like that so now we have successfully done that so now i can just say um stop this macro and now now i'm gonna show you what happened so i'm going to go back to the first one and then i'm going to go to the second one like so so that is what we just did so let me show you again that one and then that one that one that one and that's all done within the software and just clicking on this button and then on this button you do see that there's a a yellow marker that's because it's doing something at that time but it's really cool and you can make it as complex as you want so yes it is complex david but it is maybe it is complex but it is definitely very precise so you can make it as good as you would like to make it uh and i think that that's really cool um now that was one step and uh do you guys want me to to go a little bit further with that let me know uh but what i'm what i'm definitely going to do is that i'm going to finish up this as a separate entity so that you can go from well let me show you one more time so if you okay let's let's let's so if you start with uh your your system it will look like this so you're um so this is typically what uh you you have when you click on super source so that's the four the the the four uh setup that you also see right here so above here this is the the preset that you have if i now click on macro 1 it will automatically boof change that to your setup you cannot bring it in of course you can also bring in the name of that person below which i will include in in the the setup that i that i have um of course uh but that is something that i will do separately and in my opinion what i can do is that i then can make this transition like so then additionally go back to but down to myself with the same uh bar and then again like so but then you you know what i mean um i can create that definitely and have that already for you guys so that you can fiddle around with that would you be is is this uh helpful was this really interesting now i want to add a little bit more uh and that is because i actually want to talk to you more about um the way that i bring in the backdrop and that is i'm using a vmix pc to do that with just a loop which is a bit of a yeah it's not really that interesting because why should you do that if you can also utilize a mp4 player so i'm actually gonna use an mp4 player in the future to make it even better um let me check what the david has to say uh if you want it to be a little more smooth you just add more micro adjustments yes that is correct david and i'm i have to still talk about the micro adjustments of course um because i didn't do that because you can also add steps manually and that's what i actually did so for now it was very rough but i can make it really smooth and it's not that hard it's a bit of work yes it is work but once you have done that work it's really beautiful it's it's really animating so to speak um remember to say for macros that is definitely the case uh i i did i did to save the markers but i did forget it that's good that is correct very important all right uh yes so like david said this is indeed the case that um yes we now did this all in the in the micro software but actually we could actually also do that really nicely but in order to do that i want to focus on this one first so what i'm going to do now is that i'm going to save these macros for some reason you don't see the whole package let me make this a little bit smaller there you go now you see the whole okay now you see the whole application so i'm going to now go to file i am going to say save as it's important to say save as because with save as you can guarantee that you will be able to fill in exactly what you want to save i'm going to save as and i'm going to go to um normally i'm going to use it the assets folder that i have but for now i'm going to go to my demo folder and i'm going to create a xml is called pip pip.xml so what the application does is that it will create a xml file based on all the changes that you've done so if i hit save you will get this requester and basically i'm also only interested in micro so i'm going to say select none i am not interested in the program preview key information that's got that kind of stuff which media has an immediate pool i don't care about but what i do care about is the macros so i'm gonna save that one and i'm gonna say save so now i've saved that macros and what we did and i'm using ultra edit for this but you can use any software which is a an editor it doesn't have doesn't really matter which software that you use um but i have used that and i'm going now to open up that demo folder and i am going to open that pip it does add the um the the the um date and time stamp and boom this is what it looks like the reason why i use ultra edit is the the the coloring but notepad plus plus plus also works perfectly so be aware that that is possible and if you look here you'll see um that all the steps that i've done are recorded so i can actually go down and say this is uh index 0 guest big so everything that you see here is just preparing the first macro so these are all the mini adjustments that we did to go to the number one macro which is this one right here this is the macro that we do with number one with what you just saw so there's a lot of data here but don't don't make that it's not not a lot now if i go down a little bit you see this is all the adjustments that i did for the second macro and the second macro is this one right here right there that's the second macro so that's the animation let me show you one more time that one that one is done in this oh this there you go this one right here and you can also see that there's a micro sleep one frame one frame so these are smaller stats so if you want to make it more smooth you can just pick for example you can what you can do is that you can say oh what i'm going to do is that i'm going to use this part right here from here to here oh that part right here including the sleep i'm gonna copy it i'm gonna paste it right here uh ctrl v right there and now i have this exactly the same one of course but i can also see now what the what the different values are and the biggest value that is changing at the moment is um this one right here the minus 16 and it goes from minus 21 to -16 so we can make it minus 18 right so let's make it minus 18 right here so i'm just going to change it so something in between that already makes it a little bit more sweet but a bit more nice so i'm just going to save this one and the way that you then can make that active is going back to the atm software and then you can just say file restore select that picture in pictures we just changed open it it will automatically know that there's only macros in there and then we say restore and boom now once we go back i've added one additional step so yeah it is just it will not be very visible but this is one physical oh that was really nice see that i i made i made some an error somewhere did you see that that doesn't look great though so let's go back let's fix that because that that that doesn't sound great so i think that i messed up a little bit um let me check mine is 16-10 um i see what i've done i see what i've done wrong petra you did a you indeed made a mistake so i have to go this one right there ctrl v and this one needs to be 18 of course minus minus -18 save now let's do it again hit restore restore and now i would expect that the that the animation would be a little bit more nice so let's try it again yeah so indeed it is of course a small change so it's not that it's gonna be a big big change but it did add a little bit more smoothness so if you make that really 15 very small steps or maybe 30 steps it will be very smooth and you can actually also play with smoothing ends moving out now i am working on a tool that will allow you to if you put in one four separate actions it will automatically calculate the rest but you do need to then have either a vertical or a horizontal movement uh it's not going to work with this kind of bose yet so i'm working on a solution for that but not but not yet it's not yet there but again um also looking at the time i also want to make sure that you guys uh like this and that you appreciate this and that you like this kind of content um i also want to make sure that you uh yeah basically um can i can look at it yourself and try to to to work on your own cool supersource again i will make sure that you will have uh so going from this one to the picture-in-picture and then back to to to a bigger bigger stats available to you i will make sure that that is happening so i i hope that you really like it i did it was a bit of a i mean i this is something that i was i thought that you guys would really like uh for uh the fifth of the 500th party because about 500 subscribers that was there um so that's really cool and let me check i needed to use the mouse at the moment um viewer says on a remote location without a computer you can't access macros item doesn't have memory on boards no that is not true no that's not true atm does have memory abort but the atm mini uh so so let me be very very uh honest about this so the atm mini does not have memory that's correct uh i feel that is correct but the a10 mini pro 810 mini pro iso 810 mini extreme and 810 mini xtreme iso all have memory so yes you do not need a computer i can actually show it to you you want to see that wanna see proof of the pudding okay what i'm gonna do is that i'm gonna make sure uh that i'm gonna show you what i did uh i will go back to this screen right here okay go to file and click save startup state i'm saving that boom i'm gonna actually even show you a little bit more what i'm going to do is i'm going to go to media and i'm going to add a picture let me check if i have a picture somewhere that i can use i don't really care about what bottom did you make that yourself uh no i did not make it yourself myself yes it is a better version of a software package and i will tell you once it's available so that you can also use it yourself so i will reach out to you no worries does it actually store it in the atm itself or does it still need to see the directory on the pc to pull it all in no no it does not need it at all that's exactly what i wanted to show you unfortunately i am bringing the the cameras into it via usbc at the moment because i don't need to have a uh a capture card to bring it into the vmx production uh that's a reason why um the only reason why but i can i can just switch off the atm software without any problem it will keep it literally in the system that is all of the settings that means all of the settings that is including for example if you want to stream to restream that io or to facebook or to youtube if you have pre-filled it in the system up front you can just save it switch it all off go to your load to your location put it switch it on and just hit the on air button on the system itself and it will be and it will go live and the cool part is it will go live if you have an ethernet connection it will still go live if the ethernet connection is there um and once it is not there for example there is an internet hiccup then you can just put a pull up your iphone or your android device put in the second usbc cable your your iphone and will automatically switch from the ethernet to your uh phone as a hotspot and once the each myth is back it will go back automatically to the ethernet port so it's effectively having two ethernet connections that it can choose from of course being the each month connection more important than the phone connection it will show you a few dropped frames so it will have a bit of a and it will go on but it's just a few seconds uh not even a few seconds just a few frames so it's about about a second maybe at the moment at the most so this is that is the beauty of the way that i'm doing it actually is that i want to be able to to just bring in my oh again dude the wrong one um i want to just bring on my atem mini extreme and my surface as a computer which is just a small computer because that will allow me to have a minimal setup and this computer right here and you probably can't even hear it it's it's really blasting it's really pushing a lot of fan noise um that's not a big problem if i ha if i'm performing uh some some you know some uh on location work because that the the difference the the distance is is good enough but for uh if i am not on location and i'm doing it in a hotel room then i want to have it as quiet as possible and the the ata mini extreme iso literally only the first two seconds it lasts a little bit so and then it's gone then it's quiet it's really quiet and you really you really need to have your ear up on on the system itself to hear it so that's really good so i like it i like it for that reason and that's the reason why i'm trying to do as much as possible on the 8th mini and basically i'm trying to do as much as possible to to mitigate vmix but of course that's not possible but we're very close now what i wanted to say the last one that i wanted to say is that for for this beautiful backdrop so i am actually using this one right here um this is actually coming from a vmix system that i have right here ah not enough space oh wait i do have none of that no i don't have enough space for that but here you have right there that's what it's doing and that's a little bit of a mess because actually why should i bring along a computer just to do that so i will also i just today received something really cool and there's this box right here and what what my idea is is that i'm gonna have this back this loop going via a small media player and this is a really small media player i've not tried it yet actually i i'm just literally unboxing it where you are so i've not seen it myself so let's do that together very quickly so there you go blah blah we don't need that and this is the product right here i think yes so let's check it out this is the media player and this it is really really small that's this side right there and this is then you then you see also what it is that is the hd media player it has an hdmi focus i think it's focused now i can't really see myself now so you see there's an hdmi port there's also a audio ports and also a dc in and on the other side you can use a usb port or an sd card to flip it in and then you can just play it in a continuous loop and it's quite small so and of course i would like to have everything on a battery so that i can literally go to uh to do to a um a picnic place or something and then just go ahead and show it to you guys um david says uh you can't load the loop directly into the atm at the moment not yet i don't know if this is going to be a thing but there is a button it's called sting on the system it doesn't do anything so if you go uh i know that you have the extreme yourself uh but if you would go to let me show it to you maybe this is a little bit better um here you see this like bus here on the top level and here you have a sting button right there this one right here this one this one does not work at the moment but that will probably work in the future i hope once that is the case then you could loop a stinger for example now that's not 100 the same thing but it's it's it's starting points i know it i am i'm not going to say that this is a replacement of vmix vmix is i'm i love emix to be i just i also talked about that last weekend so for me especially for my for my uh let me rephrase that a little bit um again why did i buy the ether mini extreme the atm mini extreme is for a few reasons interesting for me the first reason is like i said if i go on to a hotel i don't want to bring along a lot of stuff um i cannot bring along a complete computer because i have to fly somewhere sometimes and unlike if of course if you if you can drive by car it's a little bit different but if you have to fly you want to pack as lean and mean as possible so the combination of the 810 mini or the 8th mini extreme will be and then a laptop will be perfect for from location not for this this computer for this stream because i want to bring more value and i want to be able to also easily play videos etc etc but that is not possible on the extreme what is possible on the extreme is to have a 20 still frames so so some frames about what is going on and yes you can load them up front and you can keep them in for a long long time and you can just select them via macros so that's possible the stinger might be coming but that will be a very small buffer maybe 90 frames or something i don't know i i really i have no inside information on that but i know that a stinger is something that that that does occur and there are eight mini not eta minis but there are the bigger atm switchers do have the possibility to add that to smaller animations for me the reason why i want to have a separate product for switching cameras is literally focus so that you have one person that can work on switching a multi-camera production typically that those are five cameras so that's quite a lot and they're all moving and you're you have to talk to to the camera people etc so that that person is really focused in bringing a very good product then i have my laptop to add graphics to add videos to ads of the stream right so i'm dividing the load because of that and that is really the reason why i want to do that and yes you can do that the same by adding a separate laptop again but to be honest bring along two laptops why should i right so that's a little bit of the reason uh you think that you could run it from an external drive since you can connect to or to record i would not be surprised david that would be a possibility in the future um i don't see why it's not well it is not possible at the moment but knowing knowing what uh blackmagic wants to do with the a10 mini the 8the mini is really really focused to us to youtubers to facebookers to just it's literally if you look at the box let's show the box if you literally look to the box it is really even youtube um oriented the coloring the logos that are on top of that you live stream directly to youtube facebook to uh twitch twitter zoom skype so they're really they're really aiming the the aza mini series to r yeah the streamers so if we want this and we make that known to them then they will most likely also make that happen and i'm sure of that because i see a lot of additional features on this that that are really because of what we set so for example the what i just said about switching directly from the network to a to a phone that is really because well really because uh it it will um hey kermit kermit's my cat um it's really because uh we asked for it basically jason what's up my friend how are you really appreciate you for being here uh i love my mini also cool what kind of mini do you have jason do you have to the classic i believe you have but maybe you have to pro all was a little bit too short for my taste to get that into the production um then i also want to have a longer video to talk about bringing in or using live view with the atm mini systems why you should think about using the live view solo in this case for that um especially because what i just said ethernet and having a phone why should you care about having live view there as well so i will have a separate video on that as well and i think that those are the the the the two that i'm definitely gonna make for the coming week and i will also have a video coming up very shortly about the use of companion software as well uh i am not going to really use it for my use case but to be honest and looking at the use case of on location work i'm actually considering it and i'm going to tell you why in in a future a video as well a lot to cut i talked to you about also what you will see but that's going to not going to be really soon i think that's going to be after this summer is that i will be creating a few 19-inch racks to make sure that you have a full-on production ready to talk to cameraman to have tele lights to have a good audio with a real mixer etc etc so that's going to be a lot
