Craving Japan in Hawaii? Kotetsu Chaya Delivers!

today we're trying out some Japanese food this place has been on our radar for a while we haven't had Japanese food in Hawaii in a long time so we're kind of excited to try this out welcome back guys and greetings from Honolulu yes we're back here in Hawaii again and we're so happy the weather is beautiful everything is perfect whenever we're back in Honolulu we always try to stick to local food but this time we thought why not try Japanese food because Japanese food after all is supposed to be pretty good here in Hawaii today we're here at a place called K tetu cha we've been meaning to try this place out for the longest time supposed to be run by a Japanese owner I think and I heard from people in Japan that this place is pretty good so let's check it out so we are here at K this is very Japanese restaurant yeah it's very nice I feel very comfortable yes yes they have a very typical Japanese menu like chaki it's a pork Ginger or deep fried chicken which we ordered cuz it's one of their best sellers yes yes and other deep fried stuff like mixed fried KATU they also have Ramen as well yeah yeah and the other thing I want to point out is that they have a uh night menu or happy hour 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and this is your happy hour menu uh so very very reasonably price and it's BYOB so you can bring your own be beer and stuff however you can get non-alcohol beer here the Asahi 0% alcohol and this is something I drink back home and it's it's actually cheap cuz in Japan I mean you know if you drink this at the restaurant it's quite expensive anyway cheers guys we just ordered our food we can't wait we are super hungry okay my mental arrived my mental is K a vento look this humongous K Mountain in this Bento there chicken carag this is using chicken thigh cabbage at the bottom of this carag it's very Japanese style on top of rice Pera leaves yellow one is Tak P radish pasta Sal using pend here is a special sauce it's a garlic soy sauce first M juicy tender chicken meat I like this taste Mar in soy sauce based sauce outside s very good color I put soy sauce this sauce garlic based sauce m m the sweetness combined with this chicken Umami so nicely M this combination is good and garlic is not super strong it's matches with this chicken taste I need rice with yuk of rice is the rice we eat in Japan I'm going to squeeze some lemon on mine and I'm a huge fan of K chicken it looks so good this is really good actually I'm super critical or picky when it comes to KAG my chicken has to be marinated in some kind of sauce and this one has been marinated it's a little bit sweet Savory really full flavor really good I got say the chicken is tender I decid to get the ginger pork the shaki Bento because shaki is my mother's absolute favorite Japanese dish when we're in Japan she eats this at least four or five times during her month's day like she loves this she could probably eat it like every day so of course it comes with the rice Tu one and the penis salad but you have a fried egg on top of the G Ginger pork let's look at the ginger pork that's a lot of Ginger pork in here with some onions oh look at that there's absolutely no filler there's actually some shredded cabbage in the bottom but not much it's mostly Ginger and pork all right so let's give this a try oh look at that m m oh wow this is really good it's gingery and it's also a little bit sweet and the pork is cooked really well the onion add a nice texture and I think my mom would really like this it St to me it really really nice let's give this a try M look at that look at the egg with the pork M that's amazing got to have some rice it's a lot of food in Japan when you order you don't get this much pork a lot of food I think it's double size it's nice pork taste and with the sauce is a littleit sweet but I Amaze this onion flavor the sweetness of onion gives a very nice accent to this pork like I said my mother eats this dish all the time in Japan but she's not happy with every dish that she gets like there are certain ones that she likes more than others there's one place that she actually doesn't like at the from this one place so she's really picky as well so I got to say Mom you will like this one mom check this place out okay we have to order one more thing we got the Okinawan style taco rice because we're huge fans of taco rice so this is actually a rice bowl with TexMex taco ingredients on top this one has uh fresh cherry tomatoes you got lettuce you got some kind of taco sauce there should be cheese some ground meat and rice on the bottom m m thumbs up from me good taco like taco sa flavor is good flavor it's very crispy M and meat it's so much unami and taco spice taste you know what's good about this taco rice of course it's flavorful but the lettuce and the tomatoes are really fresh and and then the the ground beef has that texx taco flavor and of course rice is cook perfectly in this place that's another thing I want to point out the rice is good they're using so much meat and so much lettuce vegetable it's balanced let me see balanced M oh no I really like this M I like this a lot M good flavor yeah it was really good it was very tasty japanes of food I love that me too I really love the k a no wonder it's the number one best seller it's actually one of my the best uh Japanese Fried Chicken I've ever had even in Japan like I have a hard time finding good KAG like this the outside is s inside juicy and tender yes and the taco rice it was so good it was just like eating Okinawa and they have a whole lot of other dishes on the menu that i' like to try next time I visit I also like the fact that they have a happy hour where we can try like small side dishes they even have the karag three pieces for happy hour at a you know very very reasonable price with beer with beer b o b o b o b o b OB anyway guys if you in Hawaii and you're craving Japanese food check this place out C CH we definitely recommend
