all right so I have this craftsman mower seems like I've been getting a bunch of these in lately it's a craftsman 6.75 briggs & stratton on it give this to my dog Hegel let's see and the guy says that he's mowing in about five minutes later it'll just gurgle and stop right and you know it automatically it sounds like a fuel problem to me you know the question is is it flooding or is it starving for gas and I tend to think it's probably starving for gas actually I'm gonna first check the the tank and the fuel line and the carburetor you know every the whole line line through because what I'm thinking it's probably the gas is probably trickling into the float ball on the carburetor and sure it fills up but it's just trickling in right so then when you start mowing it's using the gas faster than its letting the gas into the carburetor and poof then it stops the other thing I want to check a theory but you know when I take off the carburetor I want to see if there's any water or anything in the line see if it's contaminated see if there's some water in the bowl at that once it you know it starts using gas and it gets down to that level and it's starting to suck in water and poof it goes out because the past few weeks we did get quite a bit of rain and so I want to see if I just want to check the fuel line all the way through and and see what's going on the other thing is he said on his front wheel drive I think he said this one this side works yeah this side I can feel it already it's so he has a one wheel drive which isn't a bad thing cuz I know right off the bat these things have I mean they're made out of plastic on the inside and the plastic gearing that mates up to the to the satellite gear that goes around it's uh this wheels probably just stripped out on the inside so he has a one wheel drive and I'll explain it to him I mean it still pulls the mower and everything but if he wants to replace the wheel fine I'll do it and so that's it let me uh let me get started on this and we'll check out the fuel delivery all right so I'm gonna do the usual let's take all this off brand new filter awesome and these are all eight millimeter or 5/16 I believe and he's missing a screw there yep missing the one that mounts to the bracket let's go and take all this off just for ease of access this is a quarter-inch this is what's holding your auto clutch [Applause] in place just let it sit there yeah let's see you know does he have he's got a bunch of gas in there so I'm gonna drain the gas first I'm gonna disconnect all this yeah I'll go and drain the gas cause I want to check out this fuel line anyway all right I've got the fuel out of there most of it anyway and it actually flowed pretty freely but I'm still gonna take this hose off and just to make sure it's still worth the check you know and looks pretty clean I don't see any debris or anything in it so that's good alright so the hose was good the gas actually looked fairly new it's not that it was old gas or anything so I'm gonna take off the carburetor and check it out first I'm going to take the bowl off and take a quick look see if there's any water or anything at the bottom of this bowl there's definitely definitely full of gas well there's a bunch of junk in there it's actually pretty clean but you can see there's there's a lot of little debris in there so let's clean the carburetor out I'm trying to see I see a few little bubbles in there not a whole lot but yeah I think there was some a little water getting in but for the most part it's a bunch of junk so so I'll do the usual I'll take the carburetor off and we'll check everything out clean all the little needles and jets in there and and we'll see how it runs after that these are 3/8 and that's all there is to it after I clean it off I usually like to blow into it check it open and closed you know check it open and closed while I'm blowing into it and see if see if it's blocking everything or doing what it's supposed to do it seems like it's closing about right there I usually like it about parallel like that but it looks like it's blocking it way before it should [Music] yeah well it's definitely blocking but it's blocking it way down here if you can see that right there is where it's engaging and I think it's just way too soon but with these I mean there's no way to to adjust these really I'm just gonna take this off and make sure that the gasket in there is seating properly and yeah and that might be the problem it's uh engaging too quick and there's not enough fuel getting in the bowl to let it run properly all right so our receded the gasket in there and you can see now it's engaging a little farther up there we go before it was way down here now it's up here and they double sure and we make blow into it again I'm gonna have to put a new gasket in it now I can barely blow through it with it even open all right so I'll replace the gasket and we'll go from there okay I found this to be very interesting I have these little gaskets here that are supposed to replace and a bottom in bulk I mean there was you know a couple of dozen of them or so but this is about the third time that I've had to work with these and whenever I dropped that gasket in they seem like they're just a bit too small they won't seat and they they just come right out when you turn them over and you know blow into it or do whatever and the gasket will just fall out and I've had this happen to me three different times so and when I compare it and it's hard to see I mean if I'd have to get some calipers out of it but when I'm looking at them side-by-side I don't know if you can see that this is the one that came out of there you can see it is a little damaged little chewed up on the inside but the outside diameter is a little bit bigger so if you're gonna get these things in bulk watch what you get this has happened to me this is the third or fourth time and and they're useless to me I mean they don't they don't stay in so I'll look in my scrap and see if I can find either another carburetor or find another gasket or something but that just kind of sucks I'm just pleased with these little gaskets all right so this is the next morning looks like we've got a little rain and I started looking through all my stuff here's the old carburetor and lo and behold I forgot that I had this I've gotten this whole little kit and then ended up not using it on the mower I did use part of the gas line and something else the bulb maybe it's just kind of weird this one included a bulb in the kit but this setup doesn't use a bulb it's the same carburetor so that's too bad I mean there's not a whole lot wrong with this carburetor it's just that one little stupid gasket but but I'll go ahead and put this in and then I'll clean this one up and replace the gasket whenever I need to I'll go ahead and put this back on and hopefully that solves the problem what I was thinking the you know with with the float engaging too soon there was not enough gas getting into into the end of the bowl so when you start mowing it it just depletes the bowl before you know before it can really fill up and get it running that's what it looks like anyway there was no clogs in the hose there's nothing wrong in the tank so I'll put this together and run it for a while and actually do my yard still kind of wet out here I'm gonna do the yard you can kind of see so that pile I mean crabgrass has gone out of control I've been diggin all that stuff up but I'll finish that off and then I'll test out this mower and see if this is the fix oh yeah I can tell already it's running good and strong before it always seemed to run pretty weak and then it would just die out after a few minutes but but that was it the the float was just engaging too soon and not giving enough gas into the bowl itself so it was just hurting for fuel what else the only other thing it was this wheel on it which I'm sure I'm gonna go ahead and take it off and won't take it a minute here I'm sure the inside of this wheel it's a plastic gear I'm sure it is so there's the gear there yep all stripped out you can see where the wheel has ground down round down the plastic all on the rim there so it's an easy fix to just buy a wheel and slap it on so I guess I'm gonna clean this up so I do want to sell this thing off and I guess I can give them give whoever an option say just as is a one wheel drive I mean it still pulls them over around pretty good and let it go cheap or we'll pay the extra for the wheel whatever they want to do so so that's it we got it running it's running pretty good I guess I'm gonna sit over here and try to tackle more of my crabgrass you can see where I'm digging it up got way out of control and then I'll continue to stress test this mower let's go ahead and do my backyard - when it's done but but I think that did the trick so that's it thanks for viewing and watch for more videos
