Cougars, Lead, And Killing Catfish

I likes fishing go catfish get fishes in my soul all I wanna do when I wake up in the morning let's go down to the fishing pole hop in my truck head down to the river having a little on the Tennessee River I likes fishing cold catfish yes I do [Music] yeah tap this day here this is one of those I need an algorithm videos it's basically a three-part video I've been a little busy it's kind of a winter break I'm not fishing for several reasons for one it's full moon number two I got another truck which I've been busy getting transferred over I've got a lot of stuff I need to do I guess the first topic I'll cover and one of the things that we'll be doing is lit for years I've been buying sinkers and you get these sinkers that the line won't go through the hole so you put them away you accumulate lead as a fisherman you know thinking that one day you're gonna get you a pot melt it all down we all started buying these bait Buster cast nets they have real dead autumn I've tore up about five of those now I've got all that lid well it just so happens that about the time all this lid started accumulating this old boy calls himself combat Carl he has a YouTube channel he is from Lamesa Texas well he uh he decided I needed a melting pot oh why he decided it but he did so he bought me this hot pot 500 watt 120 boat lid milk he sent me a mold for some three four five ounce and overall sinkers which I do use I also use Bank sinkers but I definitely use the no rules he sent me about ten pounds of lead in the form of these 16-ounce back stickers that I could melt down seventy several things sent me these uh rig wraps not another guys send me some of these and they were a little smaller they were yellow ones and they were perfect size to tie a Carolina rig fit everything nice and neatly in here basically the hook the leader to swivel well these are extra big they're extra deep so what that's telling me is it looks like I got enough room for the leader itself a no role sinker and even a bead so everything is right there in the same rig raft I got three of them he sent me a pair of kuda titanium basically line shears cut braid or whatever you need to do he sent me a same brand kuda Flay knife German four one one six corrosion resistant stainless steel sounds like good stuff and he sent me so I don't burn my hands up these fancy looking I guess rotors clubs is what they are Lincoln Electric high-dollar stuff here Thank You combat Carl like I say old combat Carl he does have a YouTube channel he does a lot of fishing catfishing he actually has videos on melting with which I may even watch a couple just so I get an idea of what I'm doing thank you very much to combat Carl second topic I want to cover is people have asked me quite a few of y'all if you followed my videos know about the Cougar you know yeah she's kept me from doing some fishing she's kept me from doing some editing a lot of y'all have asked when she's gonna be in a video or blah blah blah well she's not really a fisherman to be honest with you she's never fished in her life I decided I would try to get her started so I bought a Shimano Baker on her ten foot ten prevail and decided I take her out there a couple times first place I said well she's inexperienced I said the first place I'm gonna take her somewhere where she gets real in a small fish so out the Admiral Farragut Park we went I said her baby out set the rod out put a rock on the butt handle and basically a fish were just gonna hook himself and she was going reeling in that was the plan but we stood out there for a while you could see a little fish start with feet on her bite there and I basically just waited for the time to tell her to pick the rod up and start reeling when she does she tries to pick the road up and realizes there's a rot on the butt end of it her first catfish hit ain't much but it's a start so she'd get your fish landed she's proud of it she wants a picture here I'm going to take a picture of this one okay show me that one we tried to get away Don it but we didn't have a scale big enough well that was the first outing I figured I had her fired up a little bit she got the real end of fish I figured the next time I would take her out would be in a spot where she could possibly hook into something a little bigger so we head out to a better spot now what we have to consider here is this girls never reeled in a fish in her life you know to me this is easy it's a no-brainer it's second nature but there's quite a few concepts that she just didn't grasped at this time finally a fish comes along same thing I've got the rod locked beyond I go ahead and set the hook on the fish make sure it's on there and her the rod put this up here left hand there you go don't reel when he's pulling just let him come in okay yeah real real when you feel it either that's the only telling you real okay real real real this fish is pulling a lot harder than the other one when the fish is pulling out line she's reeling which is wrong so I tell her don't reel don't reel and then she stops reeling and then the line goes slack so I start telling her real real [Music] Wow well she gets the fish in she's all excited you know this one's bought bigger than anything she's ever seen so she wants a picture of her fish she's proud she's happy lightly so what pick him up okay support him right there I'm doing what the other hand okay yeah right hand in the jaw start pulling them up to get your stomach okay here more sideways that's our second catfish now here again I haven't I am not taken into consideration she literally has no experience doing none of this so I tell her to release the fish it was quite a rough release and I should have thought about that taking that into consideration she had never not only not caught a fish but released a fish either way when she realized she dropped the fish kind of shallow she then felt sorry for the fish and went back and tried to help it out in the water a little bit she's a little rough on the release part - well that gave her a little experience on the water she was excited see what's happened the problem is if the weather ain't perfect it's too hot if it's too cold if it's too windy there's any bugs so you don't want to go but yeah I have took her out that's what happened third issue I want to talk about is back when I was using catfish for bait you know I'm always a catch-and-release guy y'all seem you released every fish I catch and I'm in big with all these catch and release guys on Facebook blah blah blah well people got some wind that I had cut up the catfish and use it for bait and it just went all the pieces with certain people and they were saying all sort of hateful things and the way I look at it is you know a lot of these people watch my videos they actually eat these fish you know there's trout liners juggers Noodlers you know I mean there's people out there fishing for food and there's commercial guys I mean these fish are getting hit all kind of ways now I'm the catch and release guy and I'll always promote release a trophy fish but I figured take it out an occasional dink fish and all my years of releasing fish ain't gonna hurt nothing so I figured I had the right to do so and it turned into several good videos caught several good fish including a 51 pounder here is a trip I went that I never actually showed I was actually too busy editing better videos and I wasn't even gonna show this video but it is a trip where I went out to actually catch a catfish just for bait this video shows me get a small fish this shows me getting a bigger fish and releasing the fish doing something a little different tonight the one I'm using frozen skipjack I don't hardly ever use frozen skipjack I pretty much hate frozen skipjack but I'm actually fishing for a small catfish it's the weekend and I'm going to continue with catfish for bait experiment I'll probably be baiting up with multiple baits but I still want some of that catfish on the hook just to see what happens sometimes it's hard for me to catch one small enough that I would actually want to use for bait cuz I don't like killing no big fish so I'm up here in a Caney Creek and don't get me wrong you could get a big fish here but this thing is mostly eater fish that's typically what you get out of here a lot of back [Applause] [Applause] well there it is people I finished about another hour that not caught several more you know average size catfish and I turned everything loose except for the one small fish that I kept so to all the people crying and complain I think I did pretty good with conservation myself just chilling out at the house had some scrap video I put together some questions being asked
