hi my name is joke and Welcome to our Channel where we talk about all things Trucking and give interesting tips and tricks for drivers just like yourself in today's video we'll talk about the 2024 Freightliner Cascadia first of all I'd like to thank our friends here at Freight Tech transport here in Romeoville Illinois for Lending us one of their beautiful cascadias so that we can do a review because we currently don't have a 24 Cascadia in our inventory first impressions not much has changed from the previous 23 22 even 21 models as you can see except a few details here and there so first let's talk about the front of the vehicle from what I've been told this is a fully loaded model and as you can see just like 90 of our inventory it also features a beer guard or a deer bumper we can see the aerodynamic Hood mirrors with the aerodynamic Hood LED headlights with daylight running lights and on the lower portion of the bumper we also have the fog lights on the side of the Cascadia as we can see not much has changed when it comes to the overall aerodynamics of the truck except a few minor aerodynamic details we also have in this one the extended tab in deflectors with the wind deflectors in the back and we have some improvements on the aerodynamics of the side of the vehicle this one also has the engine block heater down here front brakes we have disc brakes and in the back we have drum brakes and one thing I almost forgot about is where the batteries are located and our Dev system you just pull on this magnetized cover and you have access to your batteries and your Dev system to close it you just push it like that you have a small storage compartment right here which you can access by simply opening the door on the side here you have a little lever you pull it which opens up your storage compartment here and in this case we keep the fire extinguisher and the emergency triangles on here now let's go to the back of the truck regarding the back of the truck not much has changed from the previous models except this right over there this is a pack smart uh heating and cooling system that Freightliner have implemented in their new models the way it works is it runs off of its own batteries which are located right here in the frame of the truck so that whenever you turn off the truck you can turn on the pack smart and you can have both Heating and Cooling even if its own batteries run out it's actually connected with the batteries of the truck so that it has a sensor that will send a signal to the ECM of the truck and it will turn on the truck to recharge those batteries but this is a very rare situation so these batteries actually last a very long time in the back we have drum brakes for our Drive tires and we have led utility lights as you can see here from the back and on the passenger side of the vehicle we have the same layout like we have on the driver's side as well as the same access to our storage compartment you open the door you have a lever you pull the lever opens up the storage compartment and you can fill it with necessary stuff with whatever you want actually now let's talk about the engine a little bit we're still on the passenger side of the vehicle and one thing I wanted to point out is that the air dryer filter has been actually put for easier access on the outside of the vehicle like we can see here on some models as you might know it's underneath the truck some models it's hidden here behind the engine compartment but on the newer models they move it over here for easier maintenance we also have easier access to our fuse box right here and we also have easier access to our cabin filters and engine filters and what we're looking at on this side is the same engine like we had on the passenger side obviously it's a 505 horsepower dd15 Detroit engine with a 12-speed automatic transmission that's it from the outside now let's jump inside and see what's going on inside as well okay so once we are inside this beautiful truck let's talk about the Interior Space of the truck as we can see this truck features two bunk beds the one is currently raised up there and then you have the second one the mattresses are all folded up because it's a brand new unit if you want to pull down the bit all you got to do is Twist this and the bed will start coming down we'll pull on it it'll start coming down like that you can also unlatch the the stairs so that you can easily climb up but for right now we will actually leave the bed here this is a look at the front dashboard as we can see uh like I said it's a brand new unit we'll turn on the bash in a second Beautiful simple layout design where you can see all your gauges you have access to you know everything and anything that you might need while driving passenger plenty spacious above it above the passenger and the driver we have some compartments some storage compartments right here where you can I guess put documents we have some additional storage compartments here here for your CB another door for more paperwork right above the driver we have yet another storage compartment here you can put anything you want pretty much this space above the driver and the passenger is completely open and you can put again things that you know for easy access above the passenger we have yet another storage compartment as we move back this storage compartment here I guess is you can put also closed on the other side another storage compartment small closet for you know you can you can either hang your clothes or you can just hold them up like that right underneath the closet we have a pull out table which is you know once you have the bed set up here with the mattress it's actually very convenient to just sit down and have your meal right here below the table we have yet another storage compartment and below the storage compartment what we have is a access panel for you know where the air blows and there's actually if you pull on this here there's actually a cabin filter right here that if you feel like you know if you haven't changed it in a while you know you can go ahead and change it yourself you don't have to necessarily go to the dealer just buy the cabin filter and just pull it out or you know clean it blow it out there you go and put this put these click on back like that as good as new you have plenty of power outlets 12 volt Outlets all over the truck down there we'll talk about the the power outlets up here on the dashboard you have LED lights on the ceiling covers window covers on the top and the bottom and I must say the siding is you know it's like a cushion it feels comfortable climate control or the back back here and this is actually also where you can control the pack smart that we talked about before Oh on this side you also have a drawer for clothes I guess or whatever dirty socks and you have a built-in refrigerator which is pretty neat it's a decent size you know plenty of food storage it's always a nice thing to have now let's talk about the front what is new in the front everything is easy access you have easy access uh and viewing area of your gauges you have easy access for your temperature control units and pretty much all the other buttons that that are necessary for you to have as a driver but what the interesting thing is and for that I will turn on the dashboard so we can see so just like in the previous model the inner part is a digital display with your mechanical obviously gauges for you know for air water oil fuel your RPMs and your speedometer but in the center part a cool option that has been added to the 2024 models is the optimized idle and how can you find that optimized idle easy you go to your menu you go to the little menu where it says vehicle settings you go all the way down to your gauges to your vehicle settings okay and then you press optimize idle if you want to enable it you press OK what is the optimize idle do instead of you idling the truck whenever you are stopped or you know you're pulling in for a 10 hour reset sleeper or you know a 34 hour reset whatever the case is then you don't want to idle and you don't want to run your pack smart system with the optimized battle does is it uses the temperature of the water to keep your truck either cooled to the inside of the cabin either cools or heated once the temperature of the water comes down the truck will automatically turn on heat up the water again and shut off automatically so that you don't have to idle the entire time and this way you know you can also save a little bit of fuel so that I believe is a cool feature that I haven't heard previous models have but I know for sure the 2024 models have it what do you think let me know down in the comments Below have you used that feature while resting what are the pros what are the cons give me something that will conclude our tour of the 2024 Freightliner Cascadia and again I wanted to thank our friends here at Freight Tech transport in Romeoville Illinois for letting us to do a review of the 24th Freightliner Cascadia make sure that you subscribe to our Channel if you don't want to miss any future videos of any Truck reviews or any other driver tips that we share here on our Channel let me know down in the comments if anything you saw was helpful if you've used the optimized idle actually in a real life situation in what are the pros and cons of it because I have never driven a Cascadia over the road and since it's not one of our trucks I don't feel comfortable taking it out for a test drive but anyway like share subscribe and I'll see in the next one cheers [Music]
