Convert Any Image Into A 3D Design | Two Minutes With MatterControl

hi i'm lars brubaker and this is two minutes with matter control so we're going to dive right in we're going to start a new design so we've just launched matter control we click the start new design button so first we're going to delete the the object that starts on the bed and we're going to add an image converter to the bed so once we have an image converter here we can see that it's just the default object and we want to change this picture so we're going to search for something that we can find on google this will search google so we're going to search for a lego and just see what that brings up and we'll just take this first object this little lego guy and we'll right click on that we'll save that image to our downloads folder and once we get that saved we can go back over to matter control let's see here and we can click right here and it'll bring up the file dialog where we can actually select that downloaded image so we open that up and instantly the image converter rebuilds and we have our little logo guy on the bed and so now we have this little design and we're going to go ahead and modify it a bit so we'll open this up a tiny bit so we can see more of the details in here if we had a different kind of image it would we could do different kinds of processing to get it the way we need it oh and we could like we could adjust the height of it um we could also add a base so this is really interesting we could add like a rectangular base to the image a circular base and it didn't fit very well but there's ways to change how it fits and then my favorite is just to add an outline so we'll go ahead and click on that and that just follows the shape of the object that we put on the bed and we can adjust that as well so we can make it a little wider we can adjust the height of that actual object as well so here you can see we can adjust the height and now that we have this object we can actually save it to your hard drive and from there we can upload it to other other services we can share it through email or we can bring it to a 3d printer and 3d print it so i'll just save this to the desktop as a lego guy here we go and that's it this has been two minutes with matter control we'll see you in the next one
