[Music] trade mark and we've been talking about the trademarks of the church specifically today young community now nothing in a while trademarks of devotion they also have a measure of spirituality a measure of service merundi silang community meringue prayer and setback they do not have the truth about god the rest about who jesus is all across the nation they help many places in the world they also have community they also have a message and a mission they do not have the way of salvation and finally my ideologies who believe in a certain ideology such as socialism fascism atheism humanism so they also have community messages the highest good of man cannot be found in man himself it can only be found in the creator so as we talk about the trademarks of the church i hope i appreciate nothing in the process [Music] organizations or groups of people that also probably gather like this it's still not enough compared to the genuineness of true christianity so let's go back pontampuna on acts chapter nine and uh again if you're joining us for the first time we've been going through some passages from the book of acts how does that example in the early new testament church apply to our day today where i'm at right now so reading from acts chapter nine and uh go ahead and read together so are you are you there already you read your bibles singapore let's begin with verse 26 and then we'll pray and when he had come to jerusalem referring to the apostle paul and when he had come to jerusalem he attempted to join the disciples and they were all afraid of him for they did not believe that he was a disciple verse 27 but barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles and declared to them how on the road he had seen the lord who spoke to him and how at damascus he had preached boldly in the name of jesus so he went in and out among them at jerusalem preaching boldly in the name of the lord verse 29 and he spoke and disputed against the hellenists but they were seeking to kill him verse 30 and when the brothers learned this they brought him down to caesarea and sent him off to tarsus and so the church throughout all judea and galilee and samaria had peace and was being built up and walking in the fear of the lord and in the comfort of the holy spirit it multiplied let's pray lord allow us to see the community that we the lord that the early church was that allow us to see how they responded to people who were once dissenters thank you would you bless our time together in jesus name amen all right i'd like to talk to you a bit about the sequoia floors almost 29. they can live up to 1 800 plus years floor in a building three to six feet under the ground until think about that that to me is a picture of church in church community we can survive we can thrive in the context of christianity that was the question of this man as he was groping on the ground now after that happened that was along the way god gave him a vision that there would be a man named ananias who would come lay his hands on his eyes and then he would see again through enough to make after three days of prayer and fasting finally ananias laid his hands on his eyes and then he saw again then after that has baptized him in christianity within within a few days time he was standing in front of the synagogues and preaching boldly about jesus christ it was a radical turn around anti-india three years later three years later boom alexander and jerusalem the huge dilemma in this situation is that the church does not want to accept a disciple the church does not want to bring into community someone who truly believes already in jesus christ you don't want to bring them into your closer circle you don't really like them spectrum you don't have people you love people you like people you are casually acquainted with uh people you don't know which is probably carami handito people you know but don't like and people who have betrayed you deceived you hurt you satan in church service meeting pastor so the church going back to that passage and when he had come to jerusalem he attempted to join the disciples and they were all afraid of him for they did not believe but barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles and declared to them how on the road how on the road he had seen the lord who spoke to him and how at damascus he had preached boldly in the name of jesus now and how in damascus he had preached boldly verse 28 so he went in and out among them time no acts chapter two pentecost not preach see peter young hellenist greek speaking jews pero jewish act acts chapter six so now he began to dispute with them that's problematic because after that they were seeking to kill him when the brothers learned this they brought him down to caesarea and sent him off to tarsus it's like a philosopher city medjo big time because around eight years and we could only presume that after that then barnabas took him and then eventually acts chapter 13 aguento that they began to go around and and paul began paul paul's name saul became paul and then he began to go around for his missionary journey so my question back to us would be this what would have been the implications if the church had not responded to seoul by accepting him in community it seems that community community accepting soul into the community and the fellowship of the believers was so significant otherwise the purpose of god for this man would have been shut off satin was a church the church if i may say this now the church provides genuine community and church for the isini lord part of the trademarks of the church is that we provide genuine community not only for the people we love the people we like and the people who are neutral people we don't know or maybe are casual acquaintances but apparently the church also receives in community even people who has had a history record in fact paul would eventually write sabine because of the gospel there is neither jew nor greek no male nor female no master no slave that the church provides an opportunity oh the church is not doing its job because it means we're not reaching out enough and we don't have enough new people that are still growing and being transformed by god you're 10 years old for the past 10 years for to be able to seek out the wolves in sheep's clothing and we will not in any way not even for a moment permit you to do what you want to do here in the church that's not according to what god wants but if you're coming here and you're seeking god you're still in a bad place spiritually you don't even know what you want and you're just even starting your christianity and you're inconsistent in your walk perfect the church was designed for you please do come punta punta foreign effect on god saving people and eventually the church being healthy living out its trademarks living out its part in being able to bring people into community the effect was young description purity to the church throughout all judea and galilee and samaria had peace and was being built up and walking in the fear of the lord i love that hello they were walking in the fear of man after nilam processor the church lived out who she's supposed to be now the church was experiencing an even greater measure of the fear of god and in the comfort of the holy spirit the church multiplied la lupung luma this particular that's part of the passage tells us that part of what god uses to be able to bring the gospel to the rest of the people part of what god uses is community john 17 would tell us jesus and praise jesus so that the world may believe that you sent me apparently community in the church a level a place of unity a place of of us standing with each other a place of us accepting each other a place that we will support and stand with each other that is a testament to the rest of the world that tells the world that jesus is in the true true is indeed the son of god he indeed came and what his ma and his message and his life is indeed true and they can begin to believe it organization she is my first and foremost community lord i commune with god and all that indeed you stay long enough you stay long enough for your issues to be resolved you stay long enough for your issues to be resolved in church would you be willing to stay long enough until our issues could be resolved because god designed us to walk in unity with each other in community with each other because that's the way for jesus to be proclaimed with credibility to the rest of the that describes where we were where from where we were called from it's an assembly if it's abnormal church it's an assembly at least in their day it never referred to a building it always referred to a people it always referred to a group of people whether many or few it always referred to a group of people gathering together as believers that would be the church called out once and then an assembly in second in first peter chapter two verse nine it says but you are chosen race describing the church a royal priesthood a holy nation a people for his own possession so this is the apostle peter speaking about the church he described that you may proclaim the excellencies of him referring to jesus who called you out so the church we are a community we are a royal priesthood a holy nation a people of his possession so descriptions describe us together apparently we were called out of darkness and into his wonderful marvelous light right into his marvelous light so apparently description allow me now to summarize that or to rather lay that out in a few phrases first one the church is a community called out of darkness sorry the first peter 2 9 would say who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light but in verse 27 barnabas would talk about soul and say this sabina barabas took him and brought him to the apostles and declared to them how on the road he had seen the lord pinaliwan christ literally evangelized to him i mean and your own path of destruction better than god would visit you then god would speak to you and barnabas was saying jesus spoke to him why are you persecuting me who are you lord it is i jesus whom you are persecuting and he and that was a very concrete moment that he was taken out of darkness he was called out of darkness that's the church called out of darkness it's a community called out of darkness the second one is that it's a community called out into his marvelous light that same passage from first peter chapter two but in verse 27 it continues to say about nine how on the road he had seen the lord who spoke to him and then how at damascus he had preached boldly in the name of jesus think about that so it was soul he was called out of darkness jesus jesus met him on the road to damascus and then after that saul began to preach there was a transformation that came on his life he began to be changed radically that now he had a different message that his message was kill the christians kill the people of the way that's his name the christians are true the christians are real jesus is true jesus is alive our law of judaism which i faithfully followed it is not no avail do not believe in judaism anymore he was called out of darkness into his marvelous light that was an example of what jesus did in his life and what god does for us as the church together finally the church is a community assembled for a missional purpose when first peter 2 describes us you're a chosen race the purpose of god setting apart a nation is so that they can become a community that is opposite the rest of the world you know that's us god called you to be a contrast to the world god called you to be a counter culture you you do not become insecure when you are unpopular when you stand up for the right things you do not become insecure when you're not like the rest of them because that's who you're supposed to be a chosen race a royal priesthood another translation is a kingdom of priests we're like a and we represent the people to god and to a certain degree we represent god to the people so here you are when you pray for another person say a free not just a believer but you pray for them you're literally accessing the resources of heaven and bringing it to that person's life because you are a priest understand this when you come before god he listens to you when you pray for other people he listens to you why because we together are a kingdom of priests further it says they're a holy nation it's a time bans we're a set apart nation young nation of israel where pagan before jesus before god introduced himself to them they were pagan they were not holy they were like everyone else in egypt they were worshipping the same idols that the egyptians were worshiping so they were just like everyone else just belonged he will islam the lord for his purposes and god would god would attach his name to a nation that's just unheard of you know why because god is taking a risk set this nation apart for himself and put his name on the nation of israel and finally it says there are people for his own possession of now at the end of the day god wants you god wants you and god owns you and because god owns you god owns everything about you god owns you which means this the best response is to surrender your life to god and only to his purposes because in the first place god already owns you a people for his own possession it says there at a description john that you may proclaim so sinetta part-time lord in all of that and purpose to proclaim to proclaim the excellencies of him in verse 31 nonpassage it says they're walking in the fear of the lord and in the comfort of the holy spirit the church multiplied apparently god's purpose for the church why the church was designed to be a community walking together is for us to be sent out for us to be sent out for a purpose a reason which is to be able to proclaim the excellencies of him to summarize that the church is a community called out and gathered in assembly together and purpose is for his own purpose is for us to proclaim his excellencies that's fantastic that's amazing now i'd like to ask a few questions just for us to be able to somehow bring this home oona i like this major question have you found the church to be a genuine community later on we will do something that will offend you and we will do something that you won't like some worship man parking the lord is the one who joins you into a church community so if your criteria are external things we will fail at some point at some point when relationships are impermanent it hurts you when you leave always the only way for relationships to be pleasant is when you stay despite everything so the only way for community to work for you is if you'll stay and the only reason why you stay is if you know you're called into such a community would you be willing to church have you found the church to be a genuine community have you been hurt we're not naive to think that majority of you here are really born per se in victory we know that many of you have been to other churches other ministries and my big question is what happened the church could never hurt you jesus is the one who builds his church but people do because people in the church are imperfect again by definition because this is the church designed for imperfect people like you and me and imperfect people will hurt you but the church will never hurt you the church does not hurt you in fact the church is a place of healing the church is a place of truth the church is a place for you to be able to read the word listen to the word and embrace god's purpose for your life so if people in the church hurt you don't blame the church for it and if possible don't even blame the persona i am see the only way for relationships to be enjoyed is if we stay long enough for us to grow our issues if we stay long enough to outgrow our issues would you be willing to accept the idea that god so you've called me hello so i'll just stay oh especially if that's your spouse don't do that okay so but what i'm saying is you can just keep on blaming because you keep coming back to that relationship foreign on behalf of the men and women who have hurt you in the past in the church i pray you'd be able to forgive them and i pray that god would give you a fresh beginning right here right where you're at on behalf of the pastors if i may say this i mean we pastors we offend people on behalf of the pastors spiritual leaders who may have hurt you in the past we ask for your forgiveness forgive us because we too are imperfect and still in progress and we may have overlooked your needs and prioritized we may have been selfish forgive us for the way we've treated you may have abused our spiritual authority over you for the way that we may have we have just served our own interests and not the church's interests and at christ's directions please forgive us i pray that god would heal you as you forgive and i pray that god would give you a fresh beginning in this church community when i was just starting out in church i started out 1991 in church as a high school student victory bill church is are you integrating in the local church community and finally my last question can this mission be done without community could you kindly go to the last slide i'd like to ask everyone to stand up as we pray together you see the church was designed by god to be a community called out and gathered assembled together for his purposes for his purposes alone would you be willing to respond to this invitation so we'd like to give you an invitation a simple invitation to go deeper in community for those of some of you here some of you i'm gonna ask you to pray in a short while some of you here i'd like to ask i'd like to ask you to ask god if he is calling you to be part it doesn't make sense for you to attend church attend church was never meant to be attended church was meant to be dived into in community so there may be several of you here who's like that so do do consider that please because your life will really change when you begin to embrace the community that god's given you some of you here naman you're already in community you have a small group victory group thank you for trusting them small groups of victory [Music] um [Music] it has formed my life and has spared me from destruction because of community the church has preserved my life because of community so i'm going to ask you would you be willing to dive deeper books [Music] on the degree that you dive into it is the degree of the benefit you'll receive if you do not pour in trust and vulnerability there's not much that you're going to get out of any community that god may add you to so we'd like to ask you now for the next moments could you just pray right right where you are stand before god and just for those of you who need to ask him if god's calling you to this church community go ahead and do so for those of you in a place already of initial community but would like to increase further in experiencing that community go ahead and take the next moments to pray then in short while we're going to pray together [Music] do let's pray together lord for those of us who have been hurt by people in the church and praying now for just a measure of forgiveness and healing i ask you now lord all across this place would you heal us as we forgive would you make us whole again would you enable us to trust again so for those of us who are still exploring if this is indeed what you called us to be to dive into this community they're asking you now that you would be the one to direct them and speak to them some of them lord you will direct to go back to their former church community to be able to rebuild that to a certain degree some of them lord you're already asking to stay and begin to build afresh i pray now that you would make it clear and now for the rest of us lord allow us to experience the beauty of the design of the church community you've called us into i pray lord for a greater measure of relationship a greater measure of fellowship a greater measure of transparency and vulnerability a greater measure of experiencing wholeness together lord i pray for a greater measure of discipleship and learning your word together i pray lord that you would enable us to open up our lives to people who will be able to speak into us so that we may continue to grow during our walk with you lord would you now bless your people in jesus name amen may the lord bless you and keep you may the lord cause his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you may the lord turn his face towards you and grant you peace in jesus name amen that happened you
