seniors who have shown exemplary character and a passion for the values of the Season what else is there to listen to the announcement for one thing because you think you're going to win no because you're going to win who would be Mr Christmas besides Fred to court as the it's a fair point besides winning is kind of a winter family tradition don't forget my grand S I know I know your grandmother and grandfather were the first Mr and Mrs Christmas they fell in love and have been together ever since what are you rolling your eyes for it's romantic don't you ever see us getting married well sure your family does what do you mean by that pick um the winners for 2004 I just mean that are Miss Sarah winter Ross and Mr Luke Abshire just talk this is an especially momentous crowning since Sarah is the third miss Christmas in their family these two young folk embody the best of what this town has to offer luk can Sarah New Iberia is proud to call you our own would you like to say a few words I just want to say what an honor it is to be here carrying on my family tradition and having my best friend here with me just makes it even better I can't wait to see what the future holds for us Merry to Grand's dismay Luke spends Christmas with his mom in Texas and it's a good thing too because it's the 50th anniversary of the festival's founding so all of the former Mr and M have been invited back and will be paired out throughout the entire week so not having Luke there will keep the focus where it should be on Christmas and is he still single I don't know you'll have to ask my gr what grandmother tell you I thought it would be a fun twist to have the selection committee choose a past Mr and Miss who've continued to live out the values of the season in honor of the 50th year I was hoping to see you up on that stage again but with Luke not being here and that's okay cuz Christmas is not about Old Flames you're right it's about family and yours is just over here whole darn thing goes out of one tiny little Bulba shot I swear it's like looking for a black cat in a coleal mom you could just use another strand oh no I'm going to find this sucker ladies look who I found oh sweee best thing about this tradition is its power to bring people together uh my granddaughter for example she's a totally independent Spirit but this Festival has brought her home and that's some pretty powerful stuff that's why this festival means so much to me even after 50 years it just reminds me that we're better and stronger and happier when we're together than when we're apart I get a lot of where we can board the animals so I work over here and Ace and I will live out back over that way and this little place will be our happy little home but don't worry soon as all the construction is finished I'll have a Christmas tree every single year I mean this is this is really great Luke I just I don't know I just have uh one question anything why here this building has happy memories and it's the only place downtown in my price range no why New Iberia why stay in our little Old Town the people the food the warmth the way they make it feel like Christmas all year round even when the decorations go back in the boxes and I don't know maybe I was hoping that one day somebody I lost a long time ago would come [Music] back it must be dinner I did promise you some of the finest Chinese takeout you've ever had yeah well there better be some extra fried rice in there don't worry I know it's your favorite not going to lie I didn't know you'd go for the whole dessert before dinner idea well clearly you have a lot to learn about me I look forward to it that it's just so good isn't it I used to get that all the time when I was a kid it tastes as good as you remember it's better I find that most things get better with age yeah like Christmas oh so I know like when you're a kid of course it's all about the presence mhm but when you get older it's more about the moments that you spend with the people that you care the most about well I'm glad you're spending some of your time with me an old Bachelor alone at Christmas time you know what else is great about Christmas no one is a stranger this time if here that's true when you and I bumped into each other it was like meeting an old friend I knew right away I wanted to see you again and my asking you out was way more of a gamble than I usually take but in the words of my daughter dad you miss 100% of the shots you don't take W she's a very wise daughter hey what do you say we forget about dinner and double up on
