Chat Controls My Life! Attempting a chat-driven Baldur's Gate 3 session...

it missed it by that much uh yeah welcome in guys uh tonight this this is an experiment uh I have no idea how this is going to go you forgot yeah um so I have not streamed balers Gate 3 before uh it's been an off stream game for me and honestly I and I've been playing it but I still haven't even gotten out of Act One honestly I'm like steam has me clocked in like 35 hours and I'm still you know not far in but uh the last couple of streams there have been some random some random talk of it's like you know hey balers balers Gate 3 that that could be a fun thing it's like you know what it could be a fun thing Ron you finished act one started act two okay you're you're ahead of me um I did get into it a little bit today uh just to kind of refresh you know myself a little bit on the controls and actually I managed to move forward slightly still not in act two though but I thought it might be fun is a uh to have kind of a more chat driven version of this where I have in theory I have the twitch extension loaded so you should see it on the overlay it's not really going to be able to do anything just yet because I I'm not in the game obviously but uh in addition to that so that should allow you guys guys to whenever there's a choice an action choice or whatever you guys you guys would be able to vote on what happens uh I also went and added uh hang on I went and added a little something extra to the stream which I'll preview here is we've got a little Wheel of Fortune so I can click on this so if there's not enough voting going on or anything I can always just you know you know put it up to the the the gods of Randomness you know to uh to choose a course so here these three choices are the uh the story mode difficulty selections um because not all [Music] choices there are a number of choices that I would like to be either voted on or randomized or whatever I I suppose my goal is to have as little control over this place through as possible so uh so in the events of case so I I want to I want chat to choose you know my race class you know all all of that stuff uh in the absence of of enough voting you know I'll put it up to the wheel but uh the goal is for me to not at all be in any control of my life and you know if this if this is a fun experiment what I'll probably do is maybe next because I'm not I I know enough about the starting area of this game I'm not going to get far enough uh to where redeems would be of a specific value but I do want to add redeems for like hey you know for the duration of this battle go melee only or go ranged only or casting only or maybe even just items only like like Scrolls or you know potions or whatever hey swanie welcome in how you doing thank you very much for uh for tuning in yeah I so that that's all all by way of intro is it's like I want to play the game but I also don't want to have any control so without any further Ado Let's uh let's see so I'm not going to continue this is going to be from scratch new game I've chosen violence so here's the first choice is uh difficulty and hang on a sec so this is a case where I need to pop up a pole and after all that talk about having polls ready to go I did not in fact have poles ready to go um one moment so new poll difficulty uh I'm going to do you can choose between balanced tactician which is hard or honor which is only one save file which means I commit you know whatever whatever choices are going is is is I commit to that doing Explorer is your first playthrough just want to focus on story as it's your first D and Style game yeah that that's fair uh I feel like since I have played this before Oh I should also me I think I mentioned it beginning I have not yet completed this game hang on a second I just noticed something on the camera I have not yet completed this this game so but I know enough about the starting area and everything so I'm going to put this poll up this would be a very very short one just to get things going not sure what probably balanced yeah balance is kind of the default the like the normal difficulty so won't be saying any spoilers yeah I how far in are you Swan see I haven't even reached act two I know there are like three acts I guess and I'm still somewhere in act one uh I just reached the uh githyanki crash I think they're called so two votes for balanced uh and here I was hoping you guys would throw me a curveball right right at the beginning a apparently not out of curiosity what would uh so it's going to be a balanced run out of curiosity what would the wheel have chosen wheel would I've been doing too and oh that's right it starts out with the long uh the whole cinematic thing which I'll let that go but yeah like I say the idea is for me to have no control well not no not no control but limited control I'll fight battles as best I can with whatever items and skills I have but whenever there's an upgrade and I choose new skills I'll I'll put those up on polls too and let you guys choose you know what skills I get finish everything as far as you could tell before moving in attack to well thought out game side stuff is super enjoyable yeah yeah so balers gate as far as I was concerned I was having a really really good time with it but I also got sidetracked with a number of other things you know most notably Allen wake 2 um and I've had trouble getting back to it a number of times I think I'm finally getting you know getting to where I can come back I yes the worms almost time to spend an hour in character creation yeah see that's the thing is like I don't know cuz my Tuesday nights I typically only stream oh by the way e gross worm in the eye uh typically on Tuesdays I only uh stream for about 3 hours so I don't want to be in character creation that long but at the same time I am going to be you know having having you guys choose what I'm doing and everything who are you good luck you vote on things when you can yeah no no problem reset tutorials uh is not your first tutorials you have already seen will not appear again if you would like to see them again you can reset don't reset that's fine uh let's turn those off okay so first one origin characters okay [Music] so wait hang on I didn't recall this can I choose to be like one of the principles so I'm I'm already making an executive decision here is is that uh we're going to be playing we're going to play a custom character so but here is where uh the poll will the polls will start and this one I'm going to have to do kind of in in stages oh hey cannibal cane welcome in how you doing uh I'm I'm playing I'm playing this game um honestly chat is kind of going to be making a lot more decisions than I am or or that's the Hope hey zos welcome in you booted up the game too okay so this one I'm going to have to do in uh in kind of groups so let's see and I have to keep these names kind of short uh half elf halfling and then gnome Dragon orc all right so I'm going to put this one up for like 2 minutes or so what race should I be and then depending which one this comes up as uh so they're kind of in groups because twitch chat you know only allows you to vote on up to five things so this is kind of an initial grouping and then you guys can choose uh what you know once you choose a group that I'll recast it with uh you know with the races from that line so like right now the second line has a vote so the follow-up poll would be GI dwarf half elf orc Etc was also just playing thought a good time for a break would be a great idea for a stream see now I've mentioned it in a couple of other streams is I saw uh another streamer doing this she wasn't she was using just the twitch interaction I think and just with that alone chat was able to kill off her stream her playthrough through within 2 or 3 hours you know like they they ran off all the companions or got them killed and then got her killed or got her into a place where she couldn't proceed so uh so me adding in votes like this just adds a little extra an extra element of of random you know I have no control as I say I have no control over my life this Garf is your vote well that we're currently uh two to one on GI dwarf half health and and halfling which is looks like that's going to be the way it goes in such support of this idea well see and that's also I I keep saying this is a big experiment because I don't know I still don't know to what level I want to commit to this I just thought this would be a fun thing to do for a night and uh and if if it's popular and if everyone has fun we'll uh I'll I'll see about doing it some more because my Tuesday nights are kind of you know they're not I'm not really attached to things oops okay so that was the second row so this is the final race um if helps to spell things properly it helps to spell things properly dwarf half elf and half L and I'll just do two minutes again do your worst chat actually I don't really know so what are the so like dwarf oops you can move that much proficiency with battle axe hand axe light Hammer if Yankee astral knowledge I don't actually I haven't actually looked at like a lot of the inherent so it looks like everyone oh no half half elves can move 9 m I think on my main playthrough I think I chose half elf either Elf or half elf I'm pretty sure probably half elf half elf and uh and also probably a r I believe it was a ranger but with like a subass in Druid because I wanted to be able to talk to animals dwarf has won all right so we're going dwarf uh uh so appearance all right no another subpole uh gender and oh this this ought to be a short one so feel free to choose now I don't want to go too far in the Weeds on appearance for character gener cuz we'll we'll be here all night um so but what I might do you know what I think I'll do maybe I'll turn the I mean I suppose I could just randomize appearance but I could also turn control of the appearance over to the wheel and see what happens Swan is going an El Ranger all animal stuff along with melee and heavy armor upgrades it looks like female is going to win where to next H what was that let's hope the locals are friendly Hells something just woke up down here be wary this place is trapped it's opened more of those wretched things there's magic keeping it where to next I kind of like be wary this place is to choose Ranger for me I am curious to see uh what a class I ended up being like simple build first ever style of game like D and D don't regret it next playthrough will be harder mode might do a wizard oh the wheel the wheel is winning and here you voted against oh that that would have tied up uh how how I want versus the wheel well it looks like the wheel is going to get it so now I'm not yes on oh wait no wait wait we're tied if anyone wants to cast a uh a decision a deciding vote we currently tied it's tied okay okay so in the event of a tie so this is actually one thing I did think through is in the event of a tie I'm going to toss it to the wheel essentially as a flip a coin so hang on let me clear out these 88 numbers uh roll so roll no roll so yeah B basically the wheel is let me preview these so subra features gold door gold dwarf hit point maximum increases by one every time a game the level a shield dwarf has armor proficiency ah that changed my that changed the this is going to be is is if uh I'm going to put up this poll the choices are yes or no for choosing the subrace if a vote is no I'm going to leave it on gold dwarf and keep the appearance we already have if we choose subrace then I'll put up a secondary poll that chooses which subrace we go for so like Shield dwarf is what armor proficiency with light and medium armor and durar can see in the dark and advantage on saving throws okay so basic essentially this is a vote to kind of keep the current appearance so we'll we'll see uh with that said the poll is up so again a no vote we will keep and a D100 so now I am going to have to think how am I going to handle the exploration in a way it'll be easier once I start getting more and more side quests because then we can like you know vote on the wheel and when I said that out loud everyone yeah ala go boom yeah that that was that was one of the options uh so when I said Mighty Streaker boom out loud as I was filling in the wheel everyone in chat was like oh yeah do that do that so that that was the birth of the name so uh let's see Jeff definitely not as cool as your name see yeah Jeff yeah you missed you missed out on uh oh we're oh here to hold votes or or what would happen and I've also got the twitch extension so when there's dialogue options you can vote directly through twitch but uh I am thinking if I continue this next Tuesday which seems likely I'm going to add add in some like Channel redeems for things like like if I'm in combat no M no melee for this battle or no ranged or magic only or consumables only you know the the idea is just to be like have as little control over my life as possible so that's my goal on on this play through y welcome in restrictions for bg3 would be challenging yeah oh I also actually had a poll even right at the start for you know what difficulty setting you know do I play balanced do I play hard mode do I play honor mode um I should say this isn't so I have I have not yet finished balers gate on my own separate playthrough I haven't even reached act two on it um so I haven't completed a play through I'm like 35 hours in I haven't even reached Act 2 yet I keep doing a bunch of side stuff I also want to make a run where chat makes all the decisions so it's it's been it's been not quite as chaotic as I was expecting but it has been uh a little surprising in places for sure it it it has been fun still an act one on your own personal play through yep that's that's me too I just reached the gith Yankee crash I think for uh Lazelle and I'm waiting for that to go bad I'm sure that's going to turn into a bad situation somehow um oh yeah so Shadow heart so right now ended up going the goblin Camp route so when I I'm going to go on a little bit of a side tangent here is I fell in love with balers Gate 3 due to an accident I fell in love with it I haven't finished the game but I spent an entire weekend in the goblin camp in the goblin Fort because somehow my party got split Shadow heart was stuck outside somewhere so I effectively lost my healer the rest of my party which are all fighters were in uh it was what my Ranger Ranger Lazelle and Gail all got captured and taken inside the fort and I couldn't get shadowart in the fort so I had I had all my Fighters very very slowly over the course of an entire weekend very very slowly picking off individual groups and and they did finally clear clear the fort you know enough to where Shadow heart could get back and and rejoin them and man that was that that was tense okay now on that main playthrough Shadow heart honestly apart from heels has been kind of useless she she can't hit the broadside of a barn with her physical attacks or her magic attacks um oh wait a minute slashing I've got a wait can I do I not have an AOE oh there we go AOE attack there we go how's this guy still alive but yeah that bit of drama of trying to go through holy crap uh okay he really hurt out of heart that drama of trying to get through the fort was really uh you know it was really really tense but it kind of made me fell in love with the potential of The game everyone has a different experience yeah and then like the next the next day I was watching some other streamer playing and they were just happily just walking through the goblin Fort they were friends with the goblins they're just walking around like how what I had to fight every single Goblin which by the way I know I know all all of you guys you know from The Raid you know might be tired and especially you know Kyo and Jeff you've been streaming for a while if you need to take a break get some food you know do all that jazz by by all means you're welcome to hang out but you're also more than welcome and recommended to uh to eat oh holy crap I'm I'm hurting both of my characters are hurting from this uh from little brain creatures you fought well perhaps our survival isn't such a distant Prospect we fought well against little tiny brain characters that very nearly killed I mean look at this I'm I'm 7 to 15 what am I to do uh you're you are to heal my main character for one also level up oh this is a CH this is a potential chat opportunity [Music] here so one of the other things that I want to do add class oh wait oh you can choose you can level up in a different class gaining a wider set of option missing out on high Lev features of the original class uh I wasn't planning on doing that got head out for the night hope you have a good stream pray that chadow heart pulls her weight we'll see she's she's already landed some good hits like when we were in the ship so we we'll see um so one of the other things I was thinking of doing is there are levels when you level up you can learn new skills or whatever that was going to be another thing that I was going to turn over to chat is excuse me which skills do I do I pick up danger sense you sense when things aren't as they should be advantage on dexterity against trap spells and okay Reckless attack until your next turn you have advantage on attack roles but enemies also have advantage against you e okay that's a barbarian thing that I don't think I want to get into okay now Shadow heart I might be able to learn some repair spells okay so yeah here's maybe a place where chat can help customize things a little bit uh let's do how how many is this eight so there are 11 skills currently have five equipped so let's see you know what here I'll do it this way uh I will put up a pole change skills yes or no if so change skills uh Yes means wheel Randomness oops helps to spell things correctly no I will just means I'll just keep things as as they are and I'm just going to leave this up for a minute it's a twitch poll so it'll be in the sidebar feel free to vote and if I also have an another thing is if the if a twe which vote ends up being tied then I put that vote to uh to the wheel as well again all major decisions are are to be randomized and when I say the wheel will randomize I will roll the wheel five times with choices 1 through 11 and equip whichever one of these uh key numbered skills currently no votes no votes means a tie which [Music] means a [Music] roll oops no votes all right so no boats means the wheel gets it will I randomize my skills I will not randomize my skills all right so I am just going with uh
