I am loving this show. The details are great- the 90s decor and fashion, the letters about personal debt, Chris Tarrant's smugness, the village pubs where all the shady business takes place, the shouty ITN executive. Brilliant.

The wife's cough seems fake. Whether its was a ruse to signal her husband is debatable but that cough was fake.

Some noteworthy tweets from the Major about the mix used on the WWTBAM show that was eventually broadcast...

The veracity of 'Tape G' is likely going to be the basis of their imminent appeal. Now that would be 'event television'!

It's surprising to me that they're broadcasting 'Quiz' on ITV - kudos to them for this story which in part questions the methods of their in-house production.

My only knowledge of this case was beforehand limited to their other in-house documentary that is mentioned in the show and which heavily is skewed against the contestant. Now I don't want to make any assumptions based on a dramatized version of the events but if the defense was portrait accurately I would have a difficult time judging that cheating was proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

The strongest reason for doubt is in my opinion the fact that the evident 'tape G' was mixed by the show's producers. And now, on the eve of the last episode of the drama, the official Millionaire account present the "raw footage" (which is clearly edited, if nothing else with text and whatnot). We have no real way of knowing whether the sound mixing has been tuned or if they really are playing all their microphone recordings at the same volume all at once - something else that is needed for it to be considered raw footage.

I reckon the timing of this post is to capitalise on the event now that the drama might make it popular again, which is indeed a form of marketing for the programme, but I can't help but to wonder whether it is an attempt to further skew public opinion in their favour. Either way, and without forming opinion one way or the other, I mostly hope that this won't open up old wounds for the convicted now that they could wind back in the public sphere.

That video should be presented without opinion..

"This is the first cough of the evening" it wasn't, I had already heard 2 or more before that.

Not saying they're not guilty, just saying that video's captions can cause confirmation bias.

EDIT: watching the Craig David one again (just got to it) that's the biggest one for me. She's not at all subtle about it

million he's still got one lifeline in fact he's got that fifty-fifty Charles what's a lot tonight let's play Who Wants to Be a Millionaire [Music] well this is where we put the strategy to the test then you got four thousand pounds okay you can obviously walk away without at the top of the show and duel runner but I know it seemed to get up a bit further let's have a look at question number eight you've got a 50/50 this would bring you 8,000 pounds if you gave me the right answer here it is who was the second husband of Jacqueline Kennedy who was the second husband of Jacqueline Kennedy Adnan Khashoggi Ronald Reagan Aristotle Onassis Rupert Murdoch right okay I'm not certain I would have thought I would have thought that it would be aristotle onassis why well Ronald Reagan I mean but it would be aristotle onassis why well Ronald Reagan I mean I'm I know who he is and I don't remember him ever being married to Jacqueline Kennedy Aristotle Onassis ring rings a bell or two second husband's just for Jacqueline Kennedy wonders one of my sub strategies is to take my time you just say absolutely hell self subscribe okay so I just rethink this one for a moment I I'm pretty confident in Sarah stolen assets yeah I'm gonna go for us Aristotle announces you're a wild and crazy man they took my master I need everyone's yeah final offer still very happy with the strategy no but it's too late it's all right answer [Applause] [Music] smoking strategy worked and you've had the sub strategy they understand well so anyway Emmental is a cheese from which country France Italy Netherlands Switzerland oh yeah alright a counter-attack think counter-attack time I'd like to go for Switzerland but I need to just think about it for a moment when you're up here you know doubts and multiplied tenfold I think it's Switzerland you got a 50-50 could be Francis and again it could be a today sir well maybe it's the Netherlands why yes sort of how the question works John now I got a hand you got a 50/50 but helps you just try it's worth sixteen thousand thousand eight he gave me a wrong answer and the girls will be back two three on the pony mhm oh I must have eaten this a hundred times sure it's whistling I'll I'll go to Switzerland yeah final answer your final answer why do you think it was whistling well I just recall an entire coin from Switzerland I've eaten it a lot I'm sure he had made in Switzerland doesn't agreed on it Swiss made yes I don't know what your strategy and sub strategy is but it's working you just got sick [Music] have a look at number 10 you've got a 50/50 use it if you have to it would guarantee you're going home with a check for 32,000 pounds at least tonight have a look this is it who had who had a hit UK album weave born to do it released in 2000 Coldplay toploader a1 Craig David I'm not sure I'm afraid born to do it I vaguely recall it I found sure I've heard of the title I don't wanna see no for sure take your time have a look at it you can obviously won't go over 16,000 because you will lose 15 if you get me wrong yeah I think I think I think it's a one got a 50/50 Craig David I just can't I don't think I've never heard of Craig David to be honest what was that sinful Coldplay have never heard of toploader is a well it's part of a rifles and I think it's that so so brassia it thank you I mean no so I think I'll them sadly I'll have to take fifty-fifty it's sadly that's what they've all right computer take away two wrong answers leave Charles the right answer one other wrong answer and he'll get always you down it to play this we've got 16,000 pounds it's lots of ponies food nosebag Zoloft think it's a one I just never heard of Craig David sir [Music] sup - I can't help each other see lifeline going but it's worth 32,000 pounds a big ol dropper to get it wrong in this 15 [Music] [Music] who had a hit UK album with born to do it released in 2000 a won and Craig David how old are your daughters 11 9 and 6 you know they'll all know this they will now be at home screaming answer now [Music] Craig David I think I'll go free one cup shoot my car my comment from so judgmental you're only getting the chair once risking 15,000 already up [Music] anyone a wanna create images [Music] hey what a waddle crate engine I'm gonna go free one final answer are we on the main strategy other subsets like detour at the moment yeah okay a lot of money to lose you tell us a play you could take sixteen thousand you know 80% of the time I'm wrong when I guess so now I got Craig David yeah finally I get to guess created by love [Music] we take a break join us get our sambar tonight she wants to be a millionaire don't go away [Music] welcome back to the second part of tonight's Who Wants to Be a Millionaire this Tuesday night just before the break major Charles Ingram here was on 16,000 pounds yet it's real it'll girls hanging on his every syllable at home he was given this question he didn't have to play this who had a hit UK album with born to do it released in 2000 he had Coldplay toploader a1 or Craig David he said his own words he'd never heard of great David use the 50/50 Coldplay and toploader went eh then went for a one then because actually rather lost the plot of his thinking them but basically because he reckons most of his guesses are 80% wrong he changed his mind knowing he'd lose 15,000 pounds of giving the wrong answer and went for Craig David who he'd never heard of you just 1:32 but your strategy of your subsidies go for it it somehow works I have no idea how you got to choose a man what am i a mistake who you've never heard of neither have I I don't think I'll be doing that again all right right have a look somehow just you've got your way up to that 32,000 pounds gentlemen versus players was an annual match between amateurs and professionals of which sport gentlemen versus players was an annual match between amateurs and professionals of which sport lawn tennis rugby union polo cricket that's worth 64,000 pounds [Music] I mean it could be any of them really but I think it's cricket but I'm not sure I don't but the reason I think it's cricketers because I'm sure I've seen a print picture a print either the cigarette cards or you know the old cigarette cards used to go around like I don't have grandfather's study war wars I think because gentlemen versus players but I'm not sure and that's a cricket there was no Clank cricket I think so lawn tennis rugby union Poland cricket I think it might be cricket it's worth 64,000 he muzzle play it indeed take your time good it could be lawn tennis it might have been a long tennis [Music] I need a spotter do this again so hello I think it would have been perfect gentlemen versus players and your match between amateurs and professionals of which sport Las Vegas I think it's least likely to be rugby union I would have thought I'd be Union hello cricket [Music] [Music] don't think it's rugby union don't think it's lawn tennis [Music] and I just don't recall any connection but I've heard of it definitely and about any connection with polo so I think if I had to guess my cat I shall take cricket it's not fair when everyone else so I'll give cricket it does not about everybody else I'll play anyway the point in place fun freakin cricket finalized you got 32,000 pounds the wife came and she won 32,000 pounds you just won 60 [Applause] [Music] the ambassador's in the National Gallery is a painting by which artist van Eyck Holbein Michelangelo Rembrandt [Music] she's gonna check loser look you can go anywhere with that trick but have a good look at this question have you got them all right I think it was either Holbein or Rembrandt I have seen it I think I think it was Holbein [Music] whole buying if I just rethink this for a second yeah sure it was hauled by [Music] don't think it's Malcolm Michelangelo I don't think it was fair Naik write it I'm not sure that nobody ever heard of Van Eyck and I don't mind you hadn't heard of Craig David that's how you got it I don't think it was Rembrandt I'm pretty sure it was whole Bryan are you sure enough to reach 32,000 pounds yeah I think so still cause a lot of money you've got 64,000 you've got no life Lance you can walk away without summer money down payment on the house and I think I'm gonna go for a fault line yeah Holbein final answer can't see any clues in your face all right you you just 120 please thank you now Charles you're an absolute rollers extra right how look at this what type of garment is an Anthony Eden overcoat hat shoe tie [Music] it's worth two hundred and fifty thousand pounds I think it's a hat [Music] I mean again you know I'm not sure but I think it's a hat I think it's one of those really sort of tall hats and sort of came into fashion just you know buddy when he was Prime Minister sure dad now I should [Music] yeah Hatton dad you lose 93,000 persevere on tells going to hat final answer yep - you just won [Music] Baron Haussmann is best known for his planning of which city throne Paris Berlin Athens I think it's bail in I think tells 10 minutes ago you thought it was only one think I think it's Berlin next time it's worth half a million it's a huge amount of money to win there's also a huge amount of money from drawing Houseman it's more a German name than Italian Damon there is your name and Athens name and you're the thought if somebody is best known for something likely to be at home I'm really not sure oh I'm never sure it has at home I'd be saying Berlin I thought watching it on TV it's worth five hundred thousand pounds you drop 218,000 to so cool as long as you need think about it [Music] [Music] secret ballot [Music] everything I don't think it's Paris don't leads Athens sure it's not Rome I thought it's bail-in but there's a chance it's Paris not sure you think kind of redness I think it's Berlin [Music] could be Paris you've done it to play this question you've got a check for quarter million and that's tempting you dinner to play it if you give me the right answer it's worth five hundred thousand pounds and you stand to lose two hundred eighteen thousand I think it is Paris yeah I'm gonna play not hang on no where are we let's go right I'm talking to myself every guess fine right you've got 250,000 pounds yeah you've got no lifelines yeah if you give me a wrong answer you still got 32,000 that's guaranteed whatever if you give me a wrong answer here but 218,000 lost you lose 280,000 give me a right answer is worth half a million you don't have to play okay this is the question Baron Haussmann is best known to his planning of which city wrote Paris Berlin happens it's worth half a million pounds okay it's either Berlin or Paris and I think it's Paris yeah I'm gonna play I'm going to play a good to play Paris you were convinced it was Berlin I know I know I think I was wrong I'm gonna go from Paris final arms final answer you had 250,000 pounds you did not need to play this question you thought it was Berlin Berlin Berlin you changed your mind to Paris that brought you 500,000 yeah to say the major sit down morning major morning for tip cities out there unbelievable right whatever happens you and I I'm probably just about the whole of the United Kingdom we're gonna look at the million pound question which we haven't done very often since we started three years ago you've done it to play this question I think you know the routine by now but let me make sure you're absolutely aware and clear of your situation you've got five hundred thousand pounds question number 15 if you go for it and give me the right answer you win a million pounds you'll be the third person in Britain to win the million since we came on it if you go for it and give me a wrong answer Charles you lose four hundred and sixty eight thousand pounds yeah okay okay you're guaranteed 30 mm that's a long time ago now question number 10 we were about to look at question number 15 you do not have to play this question it's worth 1 million pounds you've got 500 thousand this is it question number 15 of 15 on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire [Music] a number one followed by 100 zeros is known by what name Google Megatron gigabit nano mol it's worth a million [Music] [Music] right then let's see [Music] Megan on earth [Music] I'm not sure however Charles you haven't been sure since question as I said sort of I don't know if you'll think eight years ago now it is the doubt is sort of multiplied well Norma today as long as it evolved but today it's a huge amount of money now hundreds got five hundred thousand pounds in your hand nobody at all would blame you to walk away without a mana money there's a huge chip if you give me a wrong answer you lose four hundred and sixty eight thousand pounds you plunge about the thirty two thousand it is worth 1 million I think it's an animal it could be a Giga [Music] I'm not sure I can go I just don't think I can do this one I don't think it's a Megatron and I have to say I haven't I don't think I've heard of a Google [Music] Google by process of elimination I actually think it's Google but I don't know what a Google is just sort of how we got to pray David you never ever heard of him I don't think it's gigabit I don't think it's not a mole don't think it's Megatron [Music] I really do think it's a Google but he thought it was an animal never heard of a Google there's a million pounds in bulbs I know but it's not a gigabit an animal and Megatron and there's only four of them so it must be Google I don't actually know what a Google is but I mean it's the only chance I'll ever have of winning a million but it's a hell of a Charles it's also the only chance you'll ever have a losing 468,000 well just put that into the equation and got half a million you're going for the one you've never heard of just because you haven't heard of it I can't influence you it's entirely your call but you've got 500,000 pounds now I don't mind taking the old risk now and again that's a joke by the way it has a little joke you've been like it allow you bit like you for two days okay let's um take your time take as long as you need you've got five hundred thousand pounds I mean my strategy has worked so far you know just take it by the bit and go for it I was defensive on the on the last show and you know very slowly got me somewhere but - a lot of lifelines and I've been very positive I think I had a very notable to every non-caustic ever since if you're wrong you lose 400 just everything kills don't think it's a gigabit and don't think it's an animal make it fun make it make it make us Omega yeah I don't think it's Megatron I'm sure it's Google case I'm gonna play [Music] I'm gonna play I am going to play you know you do not have to play this question there's nothing on my screen here you do not to play this you've got 500,000 pounds I wish I could turn around and do not look round right who's 468 thousand pounds if you're wrong I've got no answer on my screen I'm just making you aware exactly how you are no one's ever lost four
