that now climb up that money tree all right here's what you're up against today 14 questions the money value is growing from $500 all the way up to 1 million [Applause] bolster to that top prize remember you can always walk away with the money you've earned up to that point an incorrect answer you walk away with nothing until you get to those two thresholds $5,000 then again at $50,000 three lifelines this audience is here to help you on one question your fifty-fifty will take away two incorrect answers and finally your lifeline your plus-one who's with you my plus one is Tristan Harris she's a good friend of mine and a former high school student that means teacher teacher in all fairness she did go to high school - yes and in a trivia master as well she's right yeah she is all right well if needed she can come down here and help you out and you were to high school as well you but you're not in high school at this point I'm not I'm a junior in college right now okay you're young looking young man thank you I'm jealous all right you ready to go I'm ready let's play let's play Who Wants to Be a Millionaire you it all starts with your $500 question let's go for it meaning the act of lying with a person what word appears on a t-shirt that warns that it often leads to forking chop sticking herring knifing salad Tong Eng or spooning Sabean high school I've definitely or when I was in high school I heard a lot of this very often so I'm pretty positive with that the answer is D spooning finally answer that is correct and I'm sorry that you just heard about it in high school yeah [Music] $1,000 question here it is journey's don't stop believin and Bon Jovi's wanted dead or alive are just too many songs often referred to as what many melodies power ballets turbo Diddy's extreme waltzes okay it doesn't sound anything like a walls so pretty sure it's not D but they are melodious there are many melodies though and turbo Diddy's they're not really really fast songs but I had to say anything I want to say it's a power ballad so I'm going to say B power ballad final answer two of the greatest songs ever thousand dollars here's your two thousand dollar questions a play on the title of an infamous 1936 propaganda film Kevin Sabet Sethe book arguing against marijuana legalization is called what crack isn't black reef or sanity oxy morons there's something about Molly okay so as somebody who wants to go to pharmacy school you have to know a moderate amount of things have to do drugs I know that Molly is a synthetic drug pretty positive crack isn't whack think of Whitney Houston and then oxymoron see intoxication so just to be safe I'm gonna go with I'm gonna get my 50/50 on this one just reset okay here's a lifeline let's go for it a final final okay I'm gonna help you out by taking two incorrect answers away please crack isn't whack or reefer sanity is what's left okay so this makes it pretty positive for me I'm pretty sure it's reefer sanity crackers and lack it's crack cocaine so I'm gonna say be reefer sanity final answer that's right [Music] $2,000 nice like that here's your $3,000 question for the sake of historical accuracy what's the only building in central London that's been allowed to have a fast roof since a major fire struck the city in 1212 British Museum Tower of London Globe Theatre Buckingham Palace okay so the Tower of London I know is built out of stone so I don't think it would have a thatched roof and Buckingham Palace it's very big you know the Queen supposed to live in the British Museum The Globe Theatre I know it's like supposed to be wooden but it did get on fire catch on fire so I'm gonna say it's see The Globe Theatre final answer you're right [Applause] and now Matthew next question is also your first threshold get this right you're at $5,000 which means nobody can take that away no matter what happens after that here it is your $5,000 questions hoping to avoid mispronunciations when it was established in 1949 what French company dropped the H from the end of its founders last name Renault Nestle BIC Evian not entirely sure on this we still have two lifelines you have your plus one as well as he asked the audience the audience looks like they're very good audience I'm definitely gonna go ahead and use Basquiat a final final all right sir audience we could use your help here so pick up those keypads and please into your vote now all right let's take a look at the results so a nice majority there 63 percent say it's C BIC I'm gonna go ahead and trust the audience they look like a very confident audience so I'm gonna up to them now won't help they've already answered I trust them though so I'm going to say C it's BIC final answer when sucking up never hurts their right eh is the name first threshold Oh [Music] I'll be back who wants to be a billionaire I'm here with Matthew Bailey believe me he's 20 years old it's true he's legal you're good to be here you reached that $5,000 threshold with that last correct answer where you go you're at least walking out of here with that you use two lifelines so you still have that plus one behind you in case you need it hopefully you won't with this next one you're ready to continue I'm ready all right here we go let's play Who Wants to Be a Millionaire here's your $7,000 question two inches taller than his wife Michelle how tall is Barack Obama 5 7 5 10 6 1 or 6 4 not entirely sure about this one either it's a very tall man I haven't seen him in person but I see him next to other people so I would say he's considerably tall think I'm gonna call tristin down as I'm plus one bottle I'm final okay all right Tristan [Music] so you are Matthews academic coach right why is when he was in high school he will throw his whole team and I was his coach well what better person to bring down here than your academic coach but can she help you with the height Barack Obama problem is everyone's tall for me pretty sure it's not 5 7 or 5 10 okay because I would make her 5 5 rice much taller than that my gut instinct is to go with 6-1 6-1 that would make her photo shoot that time is she 5 8 or is she 5 11 I mean I want to say that she's 511 because I really don't think she's 6 to the brain I don't think she's 6 channel make sure 6 to be real I just not 5 5 no Tristan I trust you I'm gonna go with C and I apologize if I'm out nothing to apologize for okay let's go see that's my final answer you're right you have wisely used your lifelines they've helped each time now you were on your own my friend see how far I can go now we're gonna talk about five figures alright this is your $10,000 question let's go for it [Music] translating to mean I have found it what is the only u.s. state to have an official motto in Greek California Florida Texas or Montana California I think their state motto is Eureka I'm gonna go I'm gonna risk it on this one okay and hopefully this is gonna pay off so I'm gonna go with a California final answer a bit of a risk here it is I wish it had paid off it did [Applause] now if your way to go thank you a calculated risk therefore $10,000 you said you were here to play and you did yeah but as you can already see is the numbers and the money gets higher so does the tension said as a difficulty this is your $20,000 question [Music] thanks to its high capsaicin content what common spice is commonly used medicinally to improve circulation and rubbed on the skin to relieve pain is it cinnamon coriander cumin cayenne okay so I know capsaicin is a chemical compound commonly found in pepper I don't think it would be cinnamon coriander Nance of pepper I don't think so I know Cayenne is a pepper okay pretty positive about that pretty sure I think I'm gonna say it's the Cayenne final answer $20,000 more you leave here with five you just doubled your money [Applause] Matthew you're staying alive how much higher will he's flying [Music] welcome back to Who Wants to Be a Millionaire Matthew Bailey up to $20,000 he said they said he came here to play and roll the dice a little bit take some chances you have but as I said at the beginning of the game it's easy to say that now at 20 and going up to $30,000 a little tougher to actually roll those dice isn't it's getting riskier and riskier but hopefully I can just keep making my way up so all right no more lifelines let's continue let's play Who Wants to Be a Millionaire here's your thirty thousand dollar question if you drank the proverbial eight glasses of water a day and live to be a hundred you'd consume 18,250 gallons closest to the amount in which of the following 1,000 beer kegs ten Olympic sized swimming pools to Boston harbours one Lake Tahoe okay it's math let's see eight glasses of water eight who seem to be eight ounces per glass would be a hundred 365 days in a year I don't know why I would compare this to let's say ten Olympic sized swimming pools kind of stands out because I feel like there would be more water in Boston Harbor just like altogether because I think it's fairly deep so I'm pretty sure there's more water and than just eighteen thousand twenty fifty gallons and that Lake Tahoe's pretty big there might be more though in that thousand beer kegs you know what I'm just not entirely sure of this because I can't wrap my head around just like that amount of water eighteen thousand gallons a lot trying to think of that in terms of the beer kegs but to be honest I've actually never been around a beer keg so I'm happy with how far I've gotten I've had a great time enjoyed meeting you it's been a pleasure you're awesome thank you as are you thank you so I'm just gonna cut my losses or gains this the sense and I'm just gonna walk away final that's my final answer congratulations twenty [Applause] if you had ever been around a beer keg you'd have to drink a thousand of them it was a dancer $20,000 buddy that's a good job thank you incredible starving junior in college when we come back here a millionaire someone else we're gonna have a shot at the million dollars here's your question of the day what single invention did susan b anthony once say had done more to emancipate women than anything in the world camera bicycle telephone or zipper stay tuned for the answer the answer to that question was bicycle [Applause] welcome back to Who Wants to Be a Millionaire we're about to make one of our audience members very happy because we're gonna give them a little taste of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire experience and hopefully give one of them $1,000 for $1,000 Florida well welcome Thank You occation and I'm gonna pay for it right now I hate that would be wonderful I'm gonna ask you one question to get it right I'm gonna give you $1,000 are birds do not eat nuts but I know I have now so either you know our raccoon so I'm pretty sure that it's Dee squirrel but I'm also shaking would you like to shakily make that your final [Music] okay so actually I think I'm gonna go with a bird because birds eat seeds and squirrels do not I was thinking about the Nutcracker part of the name so I guess a bird please that's your final sorry yes sure yes hopefully fingers crossed it's been a good vacation either way either way absolutely it'll be better if I give you $1,000 [Applause] enjoy congratulations to Matthew what a great run for that young thank you for watching this one I'm Chris Harrison we'll see you next time [Music] your heart races your palms sweat your adrenalin goes into overdrive and that's just trying to answer the $500 this [Music] what about the who wants to be a millionaire I'm here with Emma Crosby Smith who just got to that $5,000 threshold right before me we got the yellow little emotional yeah of what this means to you what what brought this on we talked about a little bad luck in your life and where you are now what was it so a few years ago I was actually homeless living out of my car and in shelters for about four years and I realized that it can be such a combination of things you can be a victim of circumstance and not necessarily a bad person and end up in bad situations and luckily I was a victim of circumstance to pull myself out and I have the most beautiful daughter and a great fiance and I'm here I just never thought I could be [Applause] I love it [Applause] what a great story this already is $5,000 we could do so much more what story if this culminates with you being a millionaire Wow all right one step at a time yeah yeah all right let's continue let's play Who Wants to Be a Monument yeah let's go Hoover Dam final answer Emma look at me it's all good 7,000 we still have a life and when we come back she's going for $10,000 around here's your question of the day in a 2014 Vanity Fair survey most people named what potentially very public method as the worst way to break up with someone a Facebook post a sticky note a text message or an email the answer to that question was a Facebook post welcome back The Who Wants to Be a Millionaire I am here with the woman that everyone in America is rooting for right now Emma Crosby Smith $7,000 is where you are [Applause] everybody's behind you everybody's hoping this continues on you have one more lifeline you're at $7,000 shall we let's do it let's play Who Wants to Be a Millionaire okay $10,000 question long before he directed comic book guy fare like The Avengers Joss Whedon created what female centric cult TV show Gilmore Girls felicity Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Ally McBeal I don't even know the time to go off of when these shows necessarily aired it looks like their own 90's shows I can't rule anything out but I think it's Buffy the Vampire Slayer I'm gonna go for it so let me tell you where you are $7,000 yeah if your plus one mm-hmm right now you're risking $2,000 and correct answer you're still walking away with five obviously correct answer you move on I'm gonna say see final answer I know everybody wanted that to be right so you could move on and you are that sound means that time is up for today don't worry going anywhere either is that $10,000 and believe me everybody is going to come back to see how you we finish up I love this girl thank you for watching forever has been a part of this one I'm Chris Harrison we will see you next time [Music] I believe it was Lao Zhu who said the journey to $1,000,000 begins with a single question and that journey begins now on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire [Applause] Chris Harrison welcome to the show are you guys ready for this today [Applause] because we have a very special woman here as a waitress at a country club our returning contestant has been so close to so much money and she's ready to make some of it hers from Boston Massachusetts please welcome back Emma Crosby Smith [Applause] all right on our last show we all absolutely fell in love with you everybody is behind you and hoping this continues right now you're at $10,000 but we were talking about how you got here and you work at a country club and you were and I were having discussion of you're just so close to it so close but so far away what would this mean to you it would mean stability and it would mean that I don't have to fear for my daughter you know I want her to go to school I want me to go to school and you never went to college I didn't you haven't had that opportunity I took some classes but now I haven't you know but that's what this money would afford is an education for you and your daughter oh yeah but partly the reason you're here is to prove that you can be self-taught and there are other ways yeah I I didn't think I was smart enough and it was the encouragement of like some of my co-workers and and you know my fiancee that really made me go okay maybe I can do this from living in your car being homeless to finding this fantastic man in your life your daughter and now you're here on millionaire come on who doesn't love this woman so let's recap where you right now $10,000 you are seven questions away from the $1,000,000 you have one lifeline remaining that is your plus one shall we continue yes let's keep going today all right okay let's play Who Wants to Be a Millionaire right away a chance to double that $10,000 this is your $20,000 question because it reacts to the presence of harmful bacteria the FDA test some new pharmaceutical drugs with the blue blood of what creature vampire bat armadillo salamander horseshoe crab you know I'm thinking any one of these could have blue blood I don't know for sure but there's something some memory in my past that's telling me that it's horseshoe crab I think I've heard this before I'm just gonna go with the guy and say horseshoe crab D final answer you still have your plus-one to use but you just doubled your money [Applause] $20,000 [Applause] [Music] I am so happy for you but can I just say are you out of your mind I might be you're not 20 thousand dollars let that sink in okay one lifeline still this is your thirty thousand dollar question [Music] Queen Victoria sat on the British throne for 63 years from which US president to which u.s. President John Adams to Abraham Lincoln ulysses s grant to Woodrow Wilson Martin Van Buren to William McKinley or Andrew Jackson to Herbert Hoover so Chris yes ma'am I prepped for this show knowing that I know so little about the presidents by watching president documentaries over and over and over but I don't think it's helping me right now as I say please tell me you know so I think this is a question for my plus one I want to use it this time I do okay final final answer okay let's use that lifeline who is your plus one my aunt Terry aunt Terry welcome to show I wish you'd asked me the blue crab but we're on TV I wish I knew this answer it's the Victorian era and I'm not sure when it was so can we let's try this let's try to talk this out John Adams we're second president I think that's a little might be to hell with Abraham Lincoln oh I should notice the Victorian era was in the 1800s I think so grant was the Civil War Woodrow Wilson was to the 1920s so we can rule that out I don't know van Buren business and the kids I'm not sure Martin Van Buren he's from New York I don't know I Andrew Jax's also Herbert Hoover was Hooverville that was you know depressions okay so not D then because that's way over I just don't know him I still want to try that so you're gonna get getting about well I don't know maybe we're gonna forget about this girls are fighter minute and just focus on the years that these people were present I really think that we can figure this out no I don't think so yes I think I don't think these might be right maybe it's where's the current Queen it might be see what some what's her name it's the coolest now now how old is she oh she's been in there for 50 years but she just had something anyway maybe it's C can I work my way back from there do you see what I'm saying like well before her was guy that had the stutter that they did the movie about but he wasn't Akeno he was a oh he was I'm sorry and there was the guy that I'm minister that Wallace Wallace whatever she married the divorcee so he abdicated for that maybe it's Van Buren and McKinley anyway I don't think we can figure it out the best part about you there is no give up in you I see why you're fine about him I see why you've climbed back in your life there is no give up in you I like that so the minimum is you get five and this is 4:30 4:30 so you're at $20,000 20,000 it's yours this is for 30 and the chance to go on I don't think we can figure it out I think I have to walk away [Music] $20,000 though why would you want to do yes yes final yes then there it goes 20 [Applause] congratulations Anna anything it was let's go see yeah it was gonna see from June 1837 to January of 1901 Van Buren to McKinley such an inspiration hopefully that would get you on your way to college take care you to hopefully give away more money here on Mary [Applause] welcome back to Who Wants to Be a Millionaire what a great story that was with Emma maybe we'll have just as good if not a better story coming up right now because today's next contestant is not your typical doctor she became a microbiologist because the bacteria in the research lab aren't offended by her tattoos I already liked her from Rockville Maryland please welcome dr. Miranda gray [Applause] so you are the real dr. gray yes I am my checks I'm sure you don't get that much no no no ever calls me doctor so thank you doctor well you are a doctor it's true it's yeah scientist looks like there you go thank you all right you know what else this could be what a millionaire looks like I like that let me tell you what you're up against 14 questions from $500 all the way up to $1,000,000 of course you have your lifelines you know what those were about you know how to use them let's roll that's gap all right doctor let's play Who Wants to Be a Millionaire it all starts with a five hundred dollar question here it is okay when Illinois residents Joel Berger in Ashley King announced their engagement in 2015 Burger King offered to pay for what a gordita of a contestant has written over 20,000 trivia questions in his lifetime that's insane today he only has to answer 14 of them correctly to go home with $1,000,000 from Londonderry New Hampshire please welcome James Middleton you're a trivia host what does that mean so so for the past 15 years every week I've been hosting a regular trivia night at a local restaurant and every week I come up with all my own questions and I've been doing it for years now so I got all this random stuff in my head hopefully it could be abuse tonight okay so 20,000 questions you've created in your lifetime about that yeah if you do the math just figured out over 15 years every week so yeah all right so you know what you're up against 14 questions with the money values going from $500 all the way up to 1 billion dollars at any time in the game you want to walk away with the money you've earned up to that point that is your choice but of course if you give me an incorrect answer you'll walk away with nothing that is until you get to that first threshold level of $5,000 then again there's another one at $50,000 you get to those levels that's the least you can walk away with today that's good but we're going for a million dollars here's more good news lifelines three of them first of all this beautiful audience here today they'll help you out that's pretty self-explanatory then there's the 50/50 I'll take away two incorrect answers and then this is very interesting for you because it's the +1 tell us about your +1 today who you brought to help you out well my +1 today is my friend Patrick who originally was my trivia nemesis so we would go to trivia nights together and I'd always get beat by one player and it was always him so if you can't beat them join them so now we play together well good luck are you guys ready to go you guys James here's your $500 question an indoor ski resorts in the middle of the Middle East Ski Dubai keeps everything cool with the help of more than 20 what frozen margarita machines Chinese paper fans industrial air conditioners or hipsters let's see so ski resort inside Dubai Dubai I think it's pretty hot out there so to keep everything cool while you'd love to have a margarita while you do it I think it's C industrial air conditioners finally I agree in mine it would be margarita machines but you're right just like that $500 off to a good start here's your $1,000 question replacing the typical ketchup and relish with foie gras black truffles and caviar a seattle food truck is charging $169 for the world's most expensive what pizza hot dog salad bagel okay well I wouldn't want to put ketchup and relish on pizza salad or a bagel so while I would never buy this hot dog I will say B hot dog final answer of course it's a hot dog I know flap chuckles don't really sound that good either $1,000 I James here's your $2,000 question not just a talented writer fun Twain also patented a strap and clasping system similar to the one commonly seen today on what type of garment scarf boxer shorts turtleneck okay so yeah I think I know this have some experience here I will say a bra final answer yet experience and that just that no would you like to the librarian and stop would you like me just to move on yes let's go okay yeah you're right let's just [Applause] but I'm not gonna question your private life courage I'm an encourage or of love whatever whatever floats your boat there's like thirty years ago we were young $2,000 here's your $3,000 question which ordering of words correctly corresponds to a Tolkien character a silvery metal and TVs Vincent visit galium guillaume gollum gollum gallium yom-yom golem gallium gallium ghullam Neal okay so let's see first the Tolkien character is Gollum the silver metal would be gallium and Benson was Robert Guillaume so this is really confusing a look at but Gollum gallium Guillaume is B final answer right because I really don't want to do that again you're off to a great start my man here's the thing this next step $5,000 that your first threshold rise means no matter what happens after this point you will at least be taking that money home if you get this question right here it is $5,000 why do I always seem to choose the slowest line at the supermarket is a question answered in what specific branch of mathematics is it Euclidean geometry Fourier analysis vector calculus the queueing theory Richards not oculus not geometry the problem is I don't know what Fourier analysis is but I do know queueing theory so queueing theory has to do with lines and typically it like Bank branches where you you got to design your cue so everybody gets served in a certain amount of time so I'm gonna go D queueing theory final answer take it a shot yeah try to save those lifelines is it a wise play it is indeed you've reached that $5,000 brush [Applause] [Applause] dr. Becker Who Wants to Be a Millionaire here with James Middleton who had kissed Cruz through to that first threshold of $5,000 got his three lifelines intact and speaking of life you got a full one my man five kids at home yes so between me and my girlfriend we have five kids of one house so if you win this million dollars today if anyone could use it at you yeah what would you do with it we had to give up the master bedroom for her two teenage boys so they'd have their own space the only thing about that is that my girlfriend to give up the walk-in closet right so hopefully with the money we can have some more space reclaim the master bedroom and even build a bigger walk-in closet well I'm telling you you guys could use it all right so now I'm ruined for you and your girlfriend what's her name Krystal so this is for you and Krystal $5,000 you've reached that threshold again nothing can take that away from you but let's do better than that okay you ready to play I'm ready to play all right let's play Who Wants to Be a Millionaire okay James here's your seven dollar question Bill Clinton Eli Whitney and Lupita Nyong'o are all featured on Business Insider's list of the most successful what of all time is it twins Texans Yale alumni Catholics I am going to use a lifeline okay and I will ask the audience major decision audience we got to help James out here please pick up your keypads and vote now all right James audience results are in let's take a look Wow okay pretty overwhelming 76% said C Yale alumni and then second place was B Texan yeah that's where I was leaning I wasn't sure about the last two so I'm going to go with that say C final answer Yale alumni seems like pretty smart audiences there right lifeline wisely use 7,000 now we jump up to that $10,000 question and here it is [Music] in 2014 The Wall Street Journal said it costs one point six cents to mint a penny since it's now primarily composed of what increasingly pricey metal is an iron nickel zinc or 10 actually no this so pennies used to be copper then they started doing mixing it with zinc and now of course like it says now it's now more expense to make them so I'm gonna say C zinc final answer is that one of your $20,000 creative yeah well it just got you to $10,000 [Applause] you feeling good you feel good ten thousand how about we double that let's do it ten thousand dollars James here's your twenty thousand dollar question [Music] in the 50 states official postal abbreviations what letter appears the most often is it a B C or D you know what I think I got to do it the one I'm thinking is a because a is the beginning of a bunch of a states and at the end of a bunch of radiation four states you're at $10,000 now two lifelines yep if you get this wrong you lose half your money you're still going to leave here with $5,000 that's the stakes you know I'm going to take a risk and I'm go a mile answer your wrist half your money but instead you doubled your money [Applause] I won't bore you with all of them but a shows up in 12 states ok greevey H is so well done more importantly let's get back to you in your life $20,000 yeah so I think we got a garage right there so we got a good puppet I like this we're acquitting this to new rooms you know what would $30,000 get you garage and a finished basement okay James here's your $30,000 question [Music] with one standing five foot six and the other six foot two which of these roles features the greatest height difference between the actor and the person they portrayed was it Julia Roberts as Erin Brockovich was a Tom Hanks as Walt Disney Meryl Streep is Julia Child Daniel day-lewis as Abraham Lincoln okay so I had something that popped into my head before the questions the answers even came up and it's up there okay but I'm pretty high up and I really want to get to that 50 but one thing is I just don't know how tall this actors actually so [Music] okay talk me through it what are you thinking let me tell you what I'm thinking I'm thinking Daniel day-lewis is Abraham Lincoln because Abe was six foot two but I'm just not sure how Daniel day-lewis how tall he is never seen him in person but I know in the movies people have taught and they actually are you know what let's what's 50 50 it just to be safe final 50 50 let's take away two incorrect answers please that might have just saved a $15,000 you were left with Tom Hanks as Walt Disney Meryl Streep as Julia Child I had the Lifeline so only use it I'm gonna bring up my plus one okay her plus one coming down convinced they almost went for it yeah so I know the Julia Child was especially tall she had special counters made because she was so tall so that was kind of a visual trick on TV not sure about Meryl Streep's height Tom Hanks I would guess probably right around the 510 yeah he's already tall right yeah I just don't I mean I can't imagine Tom Hanks is five six I mean he's not the Tom Cruise kind of height level so my guess my suggestion would be Meryl Streep this is here this is for you so no unison is for - no I I think I remember the thing about Julia Child in in the modified counters so I'm gonna go with my plus one and I'm gonna say see Meryl Streep as Julia Child final answer cut your old nemesis have just gotten you to $30,000 [Applause] and the commercial [Applause] welcome back to Who Wants to Be a Millionaire James Middleton my man is on a roll he is at $30,000 more importantly you are five questions away from 1 billion dollars all right the only hitch now is you've used all three lifelines but we want to get you to that next threshold and that's the next question James let's play Who Wants to Be a Millionaire here's your $50,000 question in order to test them for human use in 1962 a dog named Esmeralda became the first ever recipient of what was it mercury dental fillings titanium prosthetic legs stomach staples silicone breast implants I don't think it's D dental fillings I think that'd be really hard on a dog but you know what Chris I'm really not confident enough so I think I'm gonna walk with the 30,000 final answer you're walking away with your $30,000 yeah that's no idea in the lifeline that's gonna be slide that might be the garage and the closet thirty thousand dollars congratulations but but if you were to take one more step what would you have guessed if I were just guessed I'd probably go the prosthetic legs be it was d silicone breast implants here's your question of the day considered one of the world's most feminist countries what island nation has officially bans stripping and lap dancing Iceland Jamaica New Zealand or Japan stay tuned for the answer the answer to that question was Iceland welcome back to Who Wants to Be a Millionaire we're about to make one of the audience members very happy because we're gonna let them have a little taste of the Who Wants to Be a Millionaire experience and maybe win $1,000 right here right now one question for $1,000 [Applause] oh man possum here you go right over there all right it's a very aggressive man hug all right Dan here's how it works I'm gonna give you a question you get it right they give you a thousand dollars simple ready to go ready all right Dan let's play for $1,000 here's your question [Music] perhaps because it resembles an upside-down one what Washington DC location has reportedly been assigned the Secret Service codename Punchbowl is it the Capitol building Supreme Court the Pentagon White House all right Supreme Court is not round White House is kind of rectangular the Pentagon and self-explanatory and the Capitol building has a dome so I'm gonna have to go with a the Capitol building violence for $1,000 I bet you're a pretty good teacher you're also $1,000 richer we gave the teacher sounds of [Applause] [Applause] [Music] there are some people in this world with the attitude hey it's only money you will not be seeing any of those people on our show today it's time to play Who Wants to Be a Millionaire [Music] are you guys excited applying Who Wants to Be a Millionaire our first contestant is notoriously frugal if he wins today he's gonna throw out his financial spreadsheet have a little fun from Cheshire Connecticut please welcome Mike Hall yeah tall doing I am I'm six foot seven there's a lot of good things that come with being tall I can help old ladies get things off the top shelf at grocery stores but it's not all peaches and cream I himself into cars flying on planes buying clothes where has it your kind of guy I am I'm I like to say I'm money conscious but I know that if my wife ever comes in to the house and says I've got really bad news for you children are fine she's fine it means she's made a purchase absurd if she hasn't run by me that will upset the spread shame upset the spreadsheets but if you win here today you're just gonna go out make it rain just go crazy that's what she don'ts for I make no promises to change sort of things but sort of that that's the family hope well admitting you have a problem is the first step exactly baby steps we get anywhere well welcome to the show let me tell you what you're up against 14 questions the money values growing from $500 all the way up to that 1 billion one step closer to that top prize remember you can walk away with the money you earn at any point if you give me the correct answer you walk away with nothing until you get to those two thresholds there's one at $5,000 then again at $50,000 we also have your three lifeline society it's can help you out with one of these questions 5050 we take away two incorrect answers and your plus-one who's joining in today I'm very fortunate that one of the smartest people I know happens to be my sister Pamela hey is he pretty tight with the money he's always been tight with his money alright well again we're gonna cure that today good luck to you let's play Who Wants to Be a Millionaire hi Mike it starts here $500 question and here it is which of the following is not one of the three objects that athletes fight with in the Olympic sport of fencing foil tape a saber chain link fence big sports fan was hoping it might be a harder question a little later on but I know that the answer would be not one of the objects so it would be d chain link fence final answer of course it is not a second question worth a thousand amigo in the early 20th century new laws restricted holding of what ladies accessory which for suffragettes and other women sometimes doubled as weapons gloves watches sunglasses okay too dangerous watch his sunglasses and pins seems like it could be something that would double as a weapon so I'm gonna say see once you're here it's tough to pull the trigger a thousand dollars chance to double it down to thousand dollar question is it also called emotional incontinence pseudobulbar affect is a disorder marked by sudden uncontrollable outbursts and what knowing or sneezing crying or laughing swatting or fake girls or shrinking we're talking about emotional and confidence I think we can knock out squatting or hopping or growing or shrinking and I know a lot about growing obviously shrinking is what I hope to do when I get older so I can come back down to normal size just be like six five six five little easy days emotional incontinence and countenance things that come out sort of uncontrollably we're talking about emotions so I'm going to say my final answer is B Y or laughing is correct mm now there's three questions down here's your three thousand dollar question derived from the abbreviation and you P universe are folks from the Upper Peninsula region of what state geography just let me do this Michigan Virginia Oregon or California so I love geography I meet people from Michigan they show me their hands and they say this is sort of where I am and I know there's an Upper Peninsula to it so I'm going to say the correct answer is a Michigan final answer you're so excited [Music] $3,000 Mike the next question is that first threshold we talked about okay 5,000 here's the question on the iconic cover of his album born in the USA was Bruce Springsteen have tucked into the back pocket of his jeans his passport a Bible us map a red baseball cap another fan of the boss I remember this I remember the redness of it and the answer is d a red baseball cap final answer $5,000 yes right [Music] [Music] like cold towering over me and the board right now and $5,000 at first blush on degrees so when was this Grossberg you went on high school so I was sort of the regular average guys and from my junior I had a year where I grew seven inches and became six five and then I actually grew two more inches in college I bet that was painful actually it wasn't a thought it would be it was painful of my parents I think they do buy a lot of clothing for me right it was probably like eating it and a callable yeah yeah I was I was putting in a lot of calories because it was a different way of eating what you're doing really well so far here a millionaire you're at $5,000 that's a threshold so worst you're doing here today is five grand but with all your lifelines you can do much better so let's play Who Wants to Be a Millionaire here's the question el pais the name of Spain's leading daily newspaper translates to English is what the country the world the news the truth I knew I should have taken French in high school [Music] all three lifelines are there I think in looking at it it's probably not going to [Music] become easier for me didn't want to have to do it but it's important to get the questions right so I would like to use one of my lifelines which one I would like to use my plus one and have my sister come help me all right final final answer all right Pam help I use the name of spainsley daily newspaper translates to any questions [Music] I mean as she always bossed you realize she's an older sister and she's also mentioned the idea of spending Thanksgiving together and so this would certainly add some conflict to that if she was not correct in fact it could take away the immunity but if she says hey the country I'm going to say hey the country make that my final answer sister got it right it's funny no matter how tall or big you are you're still a little brother exactly happy right it's still beat you yeah all right seven thousand dollars that's exactly how you use those lifelines well done stayin alive is the most important thing in this game next stop $10,000 here's your question in 1986 27 year-old Ron Reagan became the only child of a sitting US president to do what attend an Ivy League university hosts Saturday Night Live win a Grammy become a US ambassador okay I think we're gonna have to do some thinking here 27 years old can the only child a lot of children of presidents of Sheriff on Ivy League universities become the US ambassador when it seems awfully young to do that [Music] graeme is for musicians I don't think of them as a singer still two lifelines I really want to stay in the game right I'm hoping that maybe future questions are ones actually now more off the top of my head and I think I want to save my the audience so I would like to do the 50/50 final final all right let's help Mike out take two incorrect answers away please host Saturday Night Live with ramming I've got my five thousand you're saying excited but I just can't imagine having them post this could end badly for me Chris let's hope not okay just to keep moving I think it could be either of these so I am going to ask the audience okay use that lifeline okay audience Mike could definitely use a little help here so pick up those keypads and into your vote now [Music] take a look what the audience has to say well 67% say it's ho Saturday my 33 Whibley wait a grape [Music] I'm sure we've got some New Yorkers in the crowd where they tapes I live as you said a big I can meet these folks outside afterwards so we have a problem I am don't trust em so I am going to say be hosts and live and think that my final answer you're lucky audience there's gonna be no altercation you're [Applause] [Music] [Music] Michael now at $10,000 only slightly threatening our audience but hey whatever it takes they helped you out and that what is your last lifeline so as we take our next step forward you're on your own from here on out but that next step is a chance to double your money so let's play Who Wants to Be a Millionaire quite a chance to go for $20,000 this is the question having appeared in the 2000 film love the basketball actress Gabrielle Union later married what NBA player Dwyane Wade Kevin Durant on Kobe Bryant LeBron James of course we've hit my where will house a Dwyane Wade final answer [Music] we probably play a little hook at your time I'm just guessing I I tried to be a good basketball player no doing wait but absolutely the height help well you left your hand in the cookie jar there is a good shot nothing but net $20,000 way to go now a chance to get to $30,000 with this question who is stick with me Mike take a deep breath who is Almo Tassimo Malaki Mookie Budin tanku al Haj Abdul Halim mu awesome siya kidney Alma whom Sultan badly shell all right a best-selling British novelist the king of Malaysia the world's richest man the CEO of Emirates oil and the CEO of Emirates Airlines that being a Middle Eastern airline might old oh it's going to take a risk you know I think it is D the CEO of Emirates Airlines [Music] thirty thousand dollars sorry Mike he's actually the king of Malaysia [Music] [Music] further back wants to be very happy give them a little taste of the who wants to be a millionaire experience and hopefully give away a thousand dollars welcome to the show right over here all right my love I will try and make it easy what I'm gonna ask you one question you're gonna give me the right answer on so you've got a thousand
