now we all love Nintendo I mean if you don't then I have no idea what you're doing here but anyways we love those Japanese bee Boop games and out of all of them there are three franchises that are the Undisputed Kings kind of like a Triforce you have the Legend of Zelda then you got Super Mario and last but not least you have Pokemon the game that is based on roaming the world like a deranged poacher capturing innocent animals to use them in battle which became a worldwide hit it conquered a planet capturing the hearts and souls of children everywhere across the world now now calm down little boy I know this sounds morbid but that's the point now thanks to its rise to fame the very first Pokemon game became a hit in the west and Asia and believe me people were hooked I mean the franchise is still really popular however back during the days of the Game Boy when Pokemon red blue and green were brand new there were a lot of rumor first going around on the playground about a special Pokemon that everyone wanted Mew a strange creature that is mentioned in the game but isn't really seen by anyone and so naturally people were like wait bro can I get this thing and so people went looking far and wide with people claiming to have found ways to capture this Beast which started to spread across the internet but is any of this even true is this Pokemon even in the game and how do you actually unlock or catch him if that's even possible well let's find out foreign [Music] and something new entered a strange World me oh yeah and also Pokemon red blue and green the first games of the franchise and within a year Pokemon was well known as a popular Nintendo franchise and so with its dominion over this mortal world established people started talking about some stuff they found in the game and one of those was Mew but this legendary Pokemon wasn't really seen in game but he was mentioned inside of the Cinebarre Mansion here amongst the rubble and wreckage is information that the scientists who once worked there obtained a Mew and impregnated it yes that sounds weird with the genetically altered Mewtwo who then escaped and destroyed the entire mansion and after a lot of players found this they were fascinated they wanted to get their hands on these two versions of Mew and Nintendo even used this to create hype to keep interest alive in the title which resulted in increased sales for for the game according to Nintendo heck they even did special promotions where they gave a few hundred people a Mew in the game and so others were hell-bent on finding one for themselves without Nintendo's help and this is where it all went wrong I mean started while Mewtwo was pretty easy to find because you could actually find him in a cave Mew was pretty tricky people searched high and low but found nothing and so the rumors surrounding it all got Wilder and Wilder and one of these supposed methods of getting him went as followed first he would have to get cut without letting the SSN ship sail away at that point you play through the game until you get the surf ability and at that point you would have to use surf on the water that the ship was on and swim East all the way down the river and on the river you would supposedly fight level 100 Pokemons until you finally got to Mew now obviously this was a bit of a crazy claim but many people actually tried this and it wasn't the only one out there near the SSN ship in Vermilion city which was front and center in a lot of these rumors for some reason there's a secret ledge that is home to a single pickup truck of Unknown Origin it's actually quite weird that it's there because it's out of sight and normally you would never see it in game and the only way to access this ledge is to have a Pokemon used to move surf unfortunately though under normal circumstances the ship and by extension access to the water is impossible as soon as you have surf but clever people have found a way to get around this either by trading in a Pokemon from another game that already possess a surf or by intentionally losing a battle on a ship after obtaining the move which sends them back to town without triggering the departure of the ship this allowed players to get to the truck and because Nintendo never explained the purpose of this truck many people thought that either a rare item or the rare Pokemon Mew could be found underneath it and so a lot of people try to get their hands on this rare gem by going to the truck and using strength on it but did any of this actually work well no while these rumors were fun and all they didn't lead to Mew and if you actually look into the files of the game you will soon notice that you actually can't catch Mew anywhere in the game but there are people out there who have Mew and some even got their hands on him in the early days so how did they pull this off is this rumor actually real well yes it is actually true and there are two ways to do it one way people did it back in the day was by using a freaky device known as a game shark which allows you to use cheats and so using it you can actually spawn in any Pokemon and enter into a battle with it allowing you to catch it which you could also do with Mew and so that is how people got their hands on him in the beginning but at some point people found another way of pulling it off and for this one you didn't have to use cheat all you have to do is use a glitch known as the trainer fly glitch and it goes as followed the first documented and most commonly known method to perform the mule glitch involves the Gambler on Route 8 who's facing north towards the underground path entrance and the second trainer you need is the youngster on Route 25 who's facing north and has a Slowpoke in his team to begin you must stand in a very specific spot so that the Gambler will be exactly one tile off screen at that point you take one step down and hold the start button while doing so this way you're in the line of sight of the gambler but your menu appears at that point and you fly to Cerulean City at that point he will see you but you're in the process of flying away and so you don't end up in a battle why Mr gamble man bye now after landing the Start A and B buttons will not function properly because the game believes that the player is about to be in a battle now at that point you must go to the youngster I mentioned before and battle him but be sure that he walks up to you so keep your distance now after defeating him you return to Route 8 and you must open the start menu at least once along the way and upon entering around the start menu will appear by itself and once you close the menu boom a battle with a wild Mew begins and that's it this is how anyone can quite easily get their hands on the Mew of their own and this was discovered back in 2003. now the reason why this works is simple the game still thinks you need to battle someone or something and so the game will use the special value of the last Pokemon you fought which is Slowpoke in this case and the number associated with him is number 21 and that Pokemon is Mew and so you end up in a battle with him now there are other ways of pulling off this trick but they aren't completely different or something however all of this clearly shows that while a lot of rumors were fake you can actually catch Mew in Pokemon Red blue and green and this isn't the only one like it out there because I also covered others for example playing as Master Hand in Super Smash Bros melee or the secret world that
