Can you beat Elden Ring using ONLY Parries & Guard Counters?

as some of you may know i like sakiro so today we're going to take a page out of sakiro's playbook and beat out and ring using only parries and card counters the rules are as follows firstly if a boss is parriable then i can only use parries against them if a boss is not parable then instead i can only use guard counters if i ever accidentally hit a boss normally then i have to reset the fight and do it over again lastly if a boss is not parriable and not really guard counterable either then i'm going to use carrion retaliation instead this is an ash of war that allows you to parry spells and if you do you spawn these little magic projectiles that shoot out and damage enemies the thing is you can also parry your own spells using carrying retaliation which means you pretty much just get the magic projectiles for free but this is still technically from a parry so i'm gonna allow it for emergency uses and that is it enjoy the video and be sure to sub if you haven't already do we bother a super useful talisman this way the curve sword talisman which increases guard counter damage okay this room right here right i think has the tiles when i'm looking for there it is there 130 crit to 140 crits big ups now we just got to get this upgraded flame and that's it godric would be the next main boss you cannot parry godric so that's gonna be guard counter city which means i'll probably want a better shield than this oh yeah we could buy the heater shield that's true all right we got 100 shield for guard countering good got our talisman for guard countering um there is a heal on critical attack talisman that's in catacombs over here all right there should be a black knife assassin well there you go all right easy assassins crimson dagger critical hits restore hp oh well this weapon's a little worse when you're not critical i don't think we're gonna win this one [ __ ] i hate to break it too slowly even to graft all right we need more power yeah the plus one not exactly rule set of the run and he does give you bloodhound stuff and like 43k ah he fell okay well let's go ahead and get 13 strength actually i mean do we even need the source he'll know okay blood down get the little sword knife thingies on the previous patch this was very very very broken if you upgraded your shield it patched that but even so i'm gonna try to not use it too much but uh you know it'll be it'll be useful for some things so we're still going to pick it up so before we go to ranala let's take a little trip to volcano manor so if you didn't know in volcano meter there's a sombre 5 6 and seven it's number six and up there on that ledge is somber seven but in this patch they made it near impossible to jump up there so we could go the intended way the only problem with the intended way i gotta go through god's ken noble which is fine but i don't have a grace like anywhere near here so every time i die i'm gonna go all the way back to where i spawn in on the bright side godskin noble is a variable boss so let's give it a whirl i'm shocked that wasn't just a one-shot kill oh yo it's not the best damage dude yeah that slam attack is so free well ah god i really need more hp i guess i could upgrade upgrade blood down but i'm gonna just repost with that a six nice that's definitely a little more all right rolling time just pick a pillar and pray oh dude oh my god one more just give me my last attack why is it always when they're one hit from dead this is for more than the somber sun at this point this is for pride okay you know what's weird is bloodhound fang five vigor five endurance five strength and five decks and that's busted how do i kill the bug normally we chase him off a cliff but i don't i don't know if we can chase him off the cliff without need to get an item though the wraith calling bell go ahead and make this carry in retaliation now chad this is perry and guard counter only to attack enemies well you know what's technically a pairing i was parrying my own spell now we we won't use this too much but we can do a little tomfoolery i think get parried [ __ ] i promise i'll i won't use that on bosses unless it's absolutely necessary plus nine what's next chet we can guard counter reichard but i'd like to level the spear up before we try to do that radon is definitely not parriable but he should be guard caterable radon the path to victory on riot card definitely seems a a bit more clear to me seems a little more viable all right serpent hunter plush five see what happens yo look at that damage okay we can make this work looks like the earth shatter move is uh the only real good opportunity to get here some some of his bite attacks are guard counterable yes i mean he's dying good thing this is his only phase right i mean it'd be a shame if he had an entire second health part with a much more difficult fight after this it's only 100 safe to attack on on this third bite that he only does like a quarter of the time and then half the time he does it he [ __ ] misses more than halfway the real question about phase two is can i even block an attack without getting like staggered or pushed over i'm not sure i can here we go can i block a sword attack oh yeah let's do this attack too i can probably guard counter this one oh yeah okay we've got some moves we can uh we can hit back with it's doable it's threes the bell bearings from sealed tunnels oh can i get a uh can i get a talisman slot from the lady gnome i think she gives you this scepter two demigods yeah all right what do i put on there i guard parry gun you can parry them but you can't replace some decent-ish damage okay you gotta be like way up in his face without the hood you know maybe you can carry in his fireball that would be interesting we haven't really taken advantage of carrying retaliation let's try i don't think it's gonna do much damage though because my shield's not upgraded at all that's not bad wait so does that get more powerful with shield level or not it doesn't upgrade with shield level anymore okay so that it's just that much damage always i'm gonna run out of fp here phase two i'm out of mana oh okay guard counter it is i guess oh god dude okay yeah you're countering when he has lightning damages though a bit of an issue this fight's honestly really cool except for that [ __ ] this is winnable this is very winnable fireball please hit him i'm glad we found a boss that carrying retaliation was a good fit for [ __ ] okay god free time i'll stop the guard counter loadout decent damage i'm gonna be trading with him a lot like that i think yeah it seems like he only extends his combo if he hits you with the first part two more oh come on all right bye bye your fourth talisman pouch finally i guess i could just have dagger and curved sword on at the same time just for convenience xbox is borg out though so let's get rid of this one and put on the kilig one just go straight into trigger his phase two off of perry it didn't even do damage though more got pleased it is really hard to get a peri opening in face too what can you not carry and retaliate them yeah i don't know if it's uh carrying sally oh my gosh like golden perry has one more parry frame in retaliation i thought it was the same frames it was just greater range i mean in that case got him when i put it on a shield 100 block well doesn't the animation differ based on the shield class is isn't buckler special ashford parries are special and it doesn't matter is that so serious saying i can slap this [ __ ] on a big old medium shield and it'll be just as fast i mean the effect shows up like immediately honestly even with one cerulean flask i probably have more than enough parries for the entire morgue fight hi let's give it a shot the golden pair is supposed to be one more frame parry window and also you can parry from range with it what the [ __ ] the repost what whatever okay point peru that was pretty good that was pretty good sort of frames sort of rips off every every [ __ ] time every [ __ ] time i do kind of want to put it on the buckler just to see how it's different let's just a b test it here okay i don't know if this is different or not i think cooler with the buckler though and i technically do slightly more damage but these foolish animations to rest one more come on baby my ambitions are thoroughly rested at this point they've gotten plenty of sleep more god it's okay i kind of want to try blood out thing i i have a feeling it might do more period image what the [ __ ] is the point of a [ __ ] parrying dagger no nice the triple because lightning grease two more one more i need you to do a variable move for you for me to even have a chance thank you two more fairies required boss is the fire giants fire giants like definitely not parriable which means guard counters we can maybe carry and retaliate his fireballs in like his phase two like the end of his phase one after we break his leg how are you even gonna break his leg i need to get my perry and a dagger upgraded man we need sixes and sevens the bell bearing for smithing stone sixes back there well and the zamor ruins bell bearing three yes bam bam plus 19 it's getting there it's getting there is this a smithing stone seven i'm tweaking out over here thank you oh it was actually three smithing stone sevens okay we're gonna get at least one more upgrade from that fame okay that went well come on i've never tried so hard to get hit yeah that's not gonna do aha it is possible chet i have no idea what i even got hit with honestly just stand next to his foot and see if you trigger a block his fireballs better be carrying retaliatable man so there's always the ace in the hole of carrying retaliating my own spells that's so lame though it might be the only way forward though well the only reasonable way forward i'm gonna go back in chad we're gonna carry and retaliate but in the name of science okay let's just get him to the point where he's chucking fireballs and see if we can carry and retaliate those it works oh lord it works but it isn't reasonable that's so rough i mean now of course we can build retaliate the whole fight and maybe the way we need to go so everything else is technically possible but is it really so i think we go for bell retaliation stress we'll need to um we'll need to get a hell of a lot of fp flasks and probably just level up our mind in general which means we should probably [ __ ] kill ranala so we can respec i can get through the wolf too hit him okay okay well we can get to ronaldo now okay so i'm not really sure how uh how ronaldo is going to work here we could maybe carry and retaliate the books in phase one i don't really know what there would be to guard counter they might do some some melee attacks oh yeah they do bailey attacks so at least we can get the students though and now what do we do about ranala in the bubble i guess just sit by her and see if someone will attack us they don't attack at all though do they oh come on you can't give me like one attack there well bell retaliation it is i guess okay is it a little great how exactly does the erd tree shield work perry does holy damage it's like carrying retaliation is it okay so you you parry something and then you get little little thingies but they do holy damage wait that's exactly what we need because the reason this is terrible is because it's magic damage and ronaldo has insane magic resist okay where is this thing i gotta kill the double sentinels for it so i gotta kill two trees and over just to see if this thing even works okay erd tree great shield thirty strength and twelve faith oh boy it works it works we're saved it scales with weapon upgrades okay unless fromsoft is completely stupid i don't think it will because they they nerfed carry in retaliation to not work with weapon levels or the shield upgrade level so if they removed that but kept this upgrade level as working that's just beyond stupid okay 238 335 from why i want to upgrade the [ __ ] out of this thing right like i'm gonna need this for fire giant right it's it's the only way i probably don't even need to kill ronald anymore but now i feel like i have to ah okay we can use the shield no matter what now sacred scorpion charm for 12 percent more holy damage yelling at me to make my my misery record lightning damage because it does more damage that way and also we have the oh that's the holy attack one but we could get the lightning attack scorpion charm misrecord plus 22 ritual sword talisman for 10 damage at max hp enhanced critical hits elon critical hits and i think it's 12 extra lightning attack so we fought the fat one earlier so i already know how to carry him i feel like the skinny one might be more annoying to parry but who knows there we go oh boy that's that's not great if i remember right we baited him into using the parable attack by kind of like sprinting into his face and far away there we go there we go oh yeah dude okay this should barely not kill jk killed he requires multiple parries oh that sucks i think it's probably better to stick with what we know and just parry fatty over and over again dude it's insane how reliable fading that attack out is [Music] dude don't make me don't make me i mean it doesn't matter got the regular bell bearing so we can buy infinite seven and eights which means we can max out the misericord bam that's 25 baby we still need to plus on our blood down thing we can do that yeah so malakath is right up there beast clergyman i think is gonna be a whole bunch of guard countering phase two we can use the blasphemous claw to parry his golden sword attacks and it does just a teeny bit of damage so that's that's gonna be a painful kill you get it from bernal [ __ ] one more for the clutch yes freaking bernie man my god all right we got the blasphemous claw so blasphemous claw you use it it's a special pairing you can use as many times as you want it does not allow you to repost him but it will do a little damage to him here we go oh actually you know what i think this is plus nine still i think i forgot to go back and plus on it oh my god this dude does surprisingly little damage to my stamina like i can block this stuff very easily this phase is not bad at all that's second facebook oh boy that second phase here we go so yeah again the claw only works on attacks where his sword grows glows yellow okay this should be one yeah 200 damage baby just gotta do that 50 more times you know that damage should get a boost from like attack power right so like if i if i was a full hp i do 10 more damage maybe oh it does not get the bonus it it's just it's just 205 no matter what if only he had more attacks to carry that's really the only lame part about this i like the parry timing on this though but the window seems pretty generous okay well i'm out of heels and he's like halfway ish dead but you know for a first attempt pretty good whoops oh goodbye okay let me upgrade my blood on thing plus 10 good yeah you know we can ruin it honestly i feel pretty confident that we can get at this attempt bam all right so someone do the math how many of those do we have to even do okay okay oh the double hit to finish it gg you can't say that wasn't a little impressive right okay we're at the end of the game dude we got gideon godfrey ratagan elden beats and then also millennium because you know we got to do melania right so yeah i think for gideon we can carry in retaliation i don't think he'll ever actually swing a weapon at us you know yeah i say carrying retaliation but maybe we should use the erd tree golden retaliation are we are we going eternity are we going okay oh it works i don't think you can parry the laser okay you can parry that that's so weird get in you gotta you gotta get up here dude oh my god those are insane you thought well until now oh the weirdest of things are challenging in this room maybe i shouldn't even try to reflect the beam i feel like it's it's one of those more common moves though maybe we'll just dodge it just rely on the discs and the uh little magic bolts those things okay they [ __ ] wreck as well though well just gotta be patient yeah you're out [ __ ] oh it didn't work yeah okay all right godfrey's not countable or godfrey is not parriable so guard counters it is oh boy how do i hit you without getting hit right back yeah so we're gonna lose this one i don't think it's gonna be the first try here should be his phase one and a half soon yeah there it is oh boy okay you can't block the ground shockwave that's fun this might be the hardest part of the fight honestly i was worried about horuleu but if we can't block that we can't guard counter oh at least let me get to horolu so i know what i'm dealing with nope i'm hoping horolu will be easier i don't i don't know the will okay okay okay so the problem with horolu is that like at least halves of attacks or grabs we go oh i mean i i'm allowed that right i feel like i'm allowed though okay okay if we're aggressive enough we actually get a stagger he missed ibis dude he has like one whole attack that i can actually do something on yeah this is gonna be a [ __ ] oh lord actually i can switch the jellyfish shield yeah switch the jellyfish oh i can actually okay with the great shield i can i can just block the shock wave yeah just go i've lost all sense of strategy in this fight i just hit him and he hits me we see who runs out of hp first and uh guess what it's me i mean it kind of works though right like it does kind of work i think that's gonna be my best opportunity to hit him but the dodge afterwards is so medallion all right chat it's time for the only speedrun skip in this entire playthrough we we have to do this one we are legally obligated to do this skip in the perry only run observe bam i'm actually shocked we got that so quickly off to loretto who we definitely will be carrying retaliating actually no probably bird tree retaliated not bad damage she's getting hard countered brenda i damage i am melania blade of mikala so i've heard step one's just figuring out what moves are parable and what are not i i imagine most of her sword moves will be variable all right the goal for like that one you gotta parry really late on that one's pretty normal timing and now when you to parry really early on any second there it is oh [ __ ] okay two more two more yo phase two baby let's go what i'm sorry uh excuse me is this gonna be another situation where like i parry her once and and then all of a sudden she goes to phase two what the [ __ ] dude phase two wait i'm sorry okay did they fix the bug where she dies immediately at the start of phase two by just making her not be able to transition from a riposte this is how they fixed it wow great job trump's off if i block she's gonna heal there's no way she heals enough to not die from a flood-on thing though this is that's so stupid man i'm actually upset okay i think all the parries are gonna be the same here there we go okay it's just the same stuff she does the periable attacks way less often where do you want me to stand millennia so that you'll actually swing your sword with me there you go little wait no dude
