Can Hyram Tell Luxury Skincare from Drugstore Products? | Expensive Taste Test | Cosmopolitan

i i feel like i'm serving serial killness realness oh my gosh hello everyone i'm hiram and i'm playing expensive taste tests with cosmo so i have two things in front of me and i'm going to try and choose which one is more expensive serums and these very nice bottles let's try the yellow one first i have a feeling it would be a vitamin c serum but i'm not sure what okay so this one kind of has like a a thicker consistency oh wow it spreads a lot so you don't need very much kind of more hydrating it doesn't really have a smell yeah there's really not a smell and for i feel like for a lot of luxury brands the reason why so many of them are so expensive are for their like unique smell so that's kind of a one thing i'm looking out for with this but it's not foolproof you never know okay next i'm gonna go in with the green one okay so this one has a lighter weight texture okay absorbs way more easily i would probably use a serum like this there may be a little bit of mint but i really don't smell much either oh this is a hard one if i already guess the more luxury one i'd say the yellow one it is more luxury it has like much more like hydration and feels richer which is typically something like the older clientele that usually like more expensive products would like and the thinner one the fast absorbing one would be the more affordable product yes okay at least i got one right at least i can walk away from this video knowing i got one of them right that's so interesting so i'm gonna go in next with the face moisturizer and see which one is more luxury i'm gonna start with the purple one okay a little bit of a smell also kind of medicinal oh it's like a light cream texture let's try on the face okay feels nice very lightweight okay almost has like a a white sheen to it and then i have a feeling this one's going to be thicker and richer because it well it looks like it let's try it oh yeah yeah this one is a a really thick moisturizer let's try oh my gosh that takes a little while to spread 2 000 years later let's see oh i feel i i think i know this one i may be wrong but it has somewhat of a signature scent of a luxury brand but i could be totally wrong honestly instant gut reaction i'm gonna say that the um thicker richer moisturizer is the luxury one and the more lightweight thin one is a more affordable one i got it like when it comes to moisturizers a lot of luxury ones are so thick so rich and for my oily skin it's usually something i avoid nothing to do with the price point of course of course [Music] we'll try the green one first oh wow okay so that's like a strawberry smell what is the texture good thing i didn't apply lip balm okay so it's very lightweight but it feels nice it feels nice but more of like a thin texture and then this one oh okay this one has a more medicinal smell almost like a almost like a vicks yeah something something along those lines ah okay this one's much thicker much thicker so between the two i would say that the the one that smells like a strawberry and has a lighter texture is the more expensive one and the one with a thicker texture that smells more medicinal is the more affordable one oh really no way wow that's so interesting i totally would have expected the the thicker one that honestly feels exactly like vaseline and smells like vaseline one [Music] i'm interested for this one because i am totally willing to pay a lot of money for a good sunscreen so i'm so excited to see which one i like most uh yellowish tint i want to see if there's any white cast oh wow okay so it absorbs really quickly into the skin i don't notice any white cast so that's nice it's always nice to have a sunscreen that isn't you know pasty on the skin and it feels really lightweight too that's a very nice texture next is the green one so this one is just pure white heavier more creamy consistency okay this one definitely i don't know if you can see it definitely has a white cast uh that's noticeable so this is something that you would really you know need to work into the skin so i would have to say that the purple one is the more luxury one that feels lightweight that sinks into the skin really easily doesn't have a white cast and that this one the green one the thicker more white cast sunscreen is the more affordable one yes you know sunscreen is one of those steps where uh a lot of times you pay for what you get just because of the formulation process and how difficult it is to actually make a sunscreen that feels very lightweight and you know not uh super white cast heavy on the skin so that that makes sense two different types of pimple patches which i actually used on this little bugger last night immediately i'm noticing the difference this one is a micro dart patch so let me try putting it on the skin and with a micro dart patch all the ingredients are formulated into little like needles that can be pressed into the skin and typically micro darts tend to be more expensive um you know i'm just gonna try right here yeah definitely micro dart i can feel them pressing into my skin okay and then this one is a more standard hydrocolloid patch which you just put over the top of your pimple i'm gonna put this over top of my already existing pimple this one's good though it has a really nice grip to it based off of what i've seen in the market typically micro dart patches are a lot more expensive than standard hydrocolloid patches so i'm going to say the hydrocolloid patch is the more affordable one and the micro dart patch is the more luxury one yay using a patch on its own is fine but what it does is really just to help make sure that bacteria doesn't get into that environment and that you aren't losing water through the pimple but in terms of actually treating it it depends on the pimple patch but a lot of just hydrocolloid patches uh just regular pimple patches don't do much for actually treating it that's actually why i like micro drop patches more because it's a combination of both the ingredients and the patch ability but if anything i always go in with like an acne treatment or an exfoliating treatment before and then put on the patch afterwards just to make sure i'm covered on all bases [Music] a gold one which is making me suspicious about the price point and i have this one which uh i'm not even sure it has little like um like granule pieces in it i'm gonna try one on either eye see how they perform i don't smell anything on this one i need a mirror see okay put this on the dry area [Music] okay i'm excited to try this gold one because i can't even remember the last time i tried a gold eye mask and i got to feel like my bougie self oh my goodness i feel like royalty putting this on wow look at that my goodness that is some reflectiveness because it feels way more like a seal over the top of the skin like i'm actually getting like a lot of moisture and hydration while this one just feels more lightweight kind of like a i don't know if it's necessarily doing as much it may be doing just as much but it doesn't feel as protective and as nourishing as as this one feels and i would say just because of the gold i'm going to lean into saying that this one's more luxury and this one's not but this could totally be a trick a purposeful trick because of the gold so i have no idea but i'm going to say this one's more luxury and this one's more affordable thank you gold is not not cheap especially for a product like this but it does make me feel fancy definitely wow [Music] these look identical from the inside i want to see what they smell like oh wow okay yeah this one's very fragrant it smells like like a i walked into a field of flowers oh and it has like a well a very nice like moisturizing consistency let me try it oh wow yeah this is this is a nice mask to apply you don't need very much for it to spread really easily and then for the green one oh wow this one is a thick thick consistency oh wow this actually feels like a clay like i'm putting a clay on has a little tiny bit of a smell but nothing in comparison to the other one oh wow okay this one is definitely pigmented as well from an experience standpoint i would have to say i do prefer the purple one just because it's so easy to spread and it feels like it's going to be like you know really moisturizing this one i like from the mask i've used in the past would feel like it would be pretty drying and really get the oil out of the skin and i typically like mud masks that are a little bit more nourishing but i would have to say i would guess that the purple one is more luxury and the green one is more affordable oh i got it wrong really this one is the more luxury one that's interesting i would not guess i much prefer this experience huh wow this expensive one is not easy to remove [Music] i'm gonna go with a green one first because i just love the color of this one don't spill don't spill okay i'm gonna just try on my hand with some water so this one's a gel cleanser which are my favorite type of cleansers to use a little water oh and spill let's see okay oh wow it smells really strong really really strong but so strong that i would not guess that this is a luxury one it smells more like like a product meant for teenagers or kids but it definitely froths up a lot then let's try this one which is completely clear but also a gel cleanser some water oh i didn't spill so this one doesn't actually foam up as much has tiny frothing but definitely not as foamy oh there's really not a smell to it if i had to choose one i'd say i would definitely use this one between the two of these i would have to say this one is the more affordable cleanser and this one is the more luxury cleanser really that's wrong oh my gosh whoever formulates this cleanser needs to step their game up because that was not a luxury experience wow 95 for for this one my goodness there is no need to be spending 95 on a cleanser particularly when it performs like this one i would much prefer to use a cleanser like this i have two different face masks here both are sheet masks i'm going to try the blue one first because blue is my favorite color you would think i would become a pro at applying a face mask oh and this one's actually clear i feel so cheated as a fragrance definitely strong okay i don't love how it feels it feels kind of uh sticky and uh not as hydrating as i would like a sheet mask to be i usually like them when they're like dripping in solution this one just is not it so so this one automatically feels like a sheet mask i would be more inclined to use because it has a lot of solution all over it and i feel like my fingers are already hydrated just from touching it okay so this one does have a little bit of fragrance not anything too intense but it automatically smells more luxury oh wow it's a big face mask okay i already like the experience of this face mask so much more because i already feel like my skin is so plump just from using it i feel like after using this mask my face would definitely feel feel hydrated pose for a thumbnail i i feel like i'm serving serial killness realness oh my gosh but based off of the smell and the feel i would guess that this one is pretty expensive the white one is the more luxury one and the blue one is the more affordable right yes i knew it oh my gosh 35 yep you would not catch me spending that much money on a sheet mask but i feel so lucky to be able to try it on this channel because i would not be that much i think i did okay you know it's always hard to tell with luxury versus affordable skincare because it is such a toss-up not just for the experience but also for the benefits but i feel like a good sign is like smelling and feeling if it feels nice immediately that's usually a good way of telling if it's luxury there's a huge debate in the community as to whether or not luxury skincare is better than affordable skincare and i typically take the stance that you don't need to pay a lot of money to have good quality skin care and if you're spending like hundreds of dollars for a product there's just there's no need to spend that much money if you want to you're welcome to but there's no need to spend that much money so this is actually kind of fun thank you for watching bye
