Calm Any Dog!

hey my name's Nando and this is Fez and we're going to teach you how you can come any dog and you're going to need your dog a harness or a normal flat collar a lead and your dog's bed now what I'm looking to do is make sure that she gets it right I'm going to set her up to succeed by making sure she's gone out for a run done a bit of training not a bit of socializing she's likely to be a bit more tired therefore she's likely to lie down when she's got nothing else to investigate now at the moment she's just checking out the environment what and all I'm gonna do is pop her on her harness click the lead on and I'm going to concertina the lead so it's really short now she's got nowhere to go ok and after a while she'll get bored and lie down now I'm not going to tell her to lie down I'm not going to interact with her and I'm going to do it in an environment where it's nice and quiet so again she's not constantly distracted by stuff um but the first time you can do it can take a fair amount of time so let's see how long it takes now when she does lie down I'm going to gently give her a body stroke if she likes to be stroked if the dog doesn't like to be stroked then you can also just take out a couple of treats and pop it down between their legs okay now the key is to do it without the dog getting focused on the food because they might start getting up and start offering new behaviors if they're done a lot of clicker training and that kind of stuff but if you've got a dog like this who has just chilled out then Jen or body strokes is going to help that okay it's going to help them to relax and just keep them nice and calm now I can leave them to it now anytime it's out any time she offers me something that looks like calm behavior like drop in the head or the eyes scientists sharp I can reinforce that if you do it in an environment for instance you have child floors and then put the dog's bed down the likelihood is that they'll choose the bed now here we've got rubber matting flooring underneath this so it's soft pretty much everywhere so she'll just relax wherever sundogs prefer the cold hard surfaces and if they want to sit there that's also absolutely fine the first time you do it it won't happen that quickly I can promise you okay but practice it in quiet places and then take it to more distracting environments and the dog will learn to relax as soon as you concertina the leader fees has got some of a hurt a gear on she's got the padded harness and rope lead on so if you would like to be in a chance with winning some brand new her to equipment then two things first share the video and second make sure you're like us on Facebook it's incredible Nano Brown and fees
