today's sermon is on calling for salvation calling for salvation a lot of people today love to throw around the word call and they love to go to Romans chapter 10 and to use that almost in place of the gospel itself and a lot of people today will take you to Romans chapter 10 and say well all you have to do to be saved just call on God well I believe the Scriptures I believe in the King James Bible I believe every word of the King James Bible but also believe in rightly dividing the word of truth so today I'm going to explain to you what calling for salvation is and I want to show you from the Scriptures I want you to see with your own eyes what the Bible says because there's a lot of people out there today with a very shallow understanding of salvation in the gospel many of them love to quote Romans 10:13 and tell people we'll just call on God and from the mouth and then you'll be saved and they put all the emphasis on calling from the mouth is that what the Bible teaches well let's go to those verses let's start by reading Romans chapter 10 verse 12 and 13 and then we will look at the entire passage of Romans chapter 12 before we're done here today I want to read all of chapter 12 at the context as well and I also want to define the words there's a lot of people that like to argue that claim to be Christians and all they do is they argue about certain things but they don't define the word they're talking about so we're going to define from the dictionary and from the scriptures what the word calling means and what it is to call upon the Lord but in Romans chapter 10 verse 12 and 13 we read for there's no difference between the Jew and the Greek for the same lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him and then in verse 13 for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved as I said there's a lot of people that love to tell you that well the way it saves you call upon the name of the Lord so if you just say with your mouth o God save me that as soon as you do that that's when you're safe and they take Romans 10:13 as the gospel and that the salvation is nothing to do with anything but simply with the mouth saying O God please save me many of them say well that means Romans 10:13 you know they put their own meaning on it they said that means just ask God to save you and he will now is that what the definition of calling is there's calling me and ask a lot of people put the two together and equate calling with asking and they said well when the Bible says call upon the name of the Lord it means ask him with your mouth and say O God please save me isn't that twisting and perverting the scriptures and putting a meaning to the word calling that is not there I mean that's what it sounds like to me where in the bible does it say ask God to save you and then you'll be saved where is it in the Pauline epistles so a lot of people will come to this verse Romans chapter 10 13 that have a super shallow understanding of salvation and will tell people that this is salvation if you just call upon God and then they say with the mouth then you'll be saved a lot of them like to get that from Romans chapter 10 verse 9 and 10 then if thou shalt with believed that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and believe and shalt believe in thine heart that God has raised him from the dead thou shalt be safer with the heart man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation so they say confession means calling so calling and confessing and asking are all the same thing and so they'll tell you well if you want to get to heaven then you have to get on your knees and with your mouth oh god please save me and ask God to save you where does that leave the gospel of salvation we're gonna look at this today I want to show you from the Bible what the Bible says about it my final authority in all matters of faith and practice is the King James 1611 authorized version I'm gonna take you through the scriptures and show you what the Bible says about Colleague I'm not gonna add my own little twist to this I'm not gonna try to make up my own doctrine matter of fact a lot of the old guys old preachers in the 1800s they they got a hold of this there they preach what I'm gonna preach to you today what calling is according to the scriptures and we're going to look like look at what it means to call upon the Lord I have a video by the way entitled what it means to call upon the Lord that's another video you can look up on YouTube I have a lot more information in that video but I wanted to make this one also and talk a little bit about this Kaali is calling calling vocally from the mouth is that how we're say are we saved by a wing and a prayer is it the prayer that we say that saves us now some people have tried to accuse me of saying that that I don't believe in prayer nothing could be further from the truth that's the dumbest statement I think I've ever heard anybody say well rubber Breakers against prayer I pray all the time I encourage other people to pray all the time Paul says pray without ceasing we should always pray always pray I'm not against prayer whatsoever but they said well you're an extremist because you're against the sinner's prayer Robert breaker well you know what I'm against I'm not against the prayer I'm against telling someone that the prayer saves them you see you're not saved by a prayer you're saved by Jesus Christ saved by the gospel say by believing saved by grace through faith the prayer doesn't save you Jesus saves you you see that's what I'm trying to explain and I guess other people don't understand that and I think it's because they think that the prayer does save you years ago I watched a video put out by Bob Jones University I think it was probably in the 50s or so and they put out this little what they called it was a gospel film and in that little gospel film there was this sinner guy who wasn't saved and he was walking around and he got run over by a train and in that video he's laying down there run over by a train and bleeding out and it's so called Christian runs over to him and says well you're about to die don't you want to go to heaven here repeat this prayer after me and they showed that man dying pray that prayer and then when he when he has done that man laying there dying looked up to the guide says hey that's a good prayer mister and he died insinuating that the actual prayer the sinner's prayer that he prayed saved him and he got saved by repeating that prayer and that has strengthened this doctrine that calling means well it's the prayer that saves you is that true is it a prayer is it the proverbial wing and a prayer does the prayer save you what if a person repeats that prayer with their mouths but there's nothing that he's believing in from the heart so is it the prayer that saves you well so many people today say yes it's the mouth it's what you say with your mouth the calling upon the Lord for salvation is what you say with the Matt whoa what is this oral fixation that people have with the mouth what does the mouth have to do with being saved what is this let's look at the scriptures today and see what it talks about and see what it's saying when it speaks about calling what is calling I want to first look at the definition of calling now I was in Bible School and I graduated from Bible School and in Bible School one thing they taught us was we only need two books we need the King James Bible and then at Webster's 1828 dictionary those are the only two books we need as a minister we don't need any other books you can't ever go wrong if you go with the King James Bible but sometimes there's some words in the Bible that you need to know what they mean and guess what sometimes words have different meanings I think it's the word Bar if I remember correctly is the word in the English dictionary that has more meanings than any other word you have a bar of gold you have a metal bar that's you you go to a bar to drink the word bar has many different meanings and we know what the meaning is by the context so when you go to the Webster's 1828 dictionary you look up the word call and in my other video I gave only seven definitions of the word call but there are thirteen definitions in the Webster's 1828 dictionary of the word call so whenever someone says whosoever shall call upon the name of Lord shall be saved you got to ask well which one of those are you thinking of how do you define call when there's thirteen different ways to define it so let me just briefly read through some of these of one of the definition of the word called it's a verb it's transitive never once a name to de nominate or to give a name I'm about to have a son here in July God thank God and we're going to call him a certain night we're going to give him a name verb number two the two can vote to summon to direct or order to meet to assemble by order number three to request to come are meet and what's so great about the eighteen dictionaries he gives verses from the Bible Matthew 22 he sent his servants to call them that were bidden and called them to come to him number 5 or number 4 to invite number 5 to an invite or summoned to come or to be present number 6 to give notice to come by Authority number 7 to proclaim to name or to publish the name number 8 definition of the word call to a point or designate as for an office Duty or employment number 9 to invite to warn to exhort there are so many definitions of board call then when the Bible says who serves a call for name the Lord what does it say well people say well we know what that means today it means just call okay so do I pick up a phone what number do i dial for heaven now the word call has many definitions today when we think of call we think call somebody on the phone but which one of these is it talking about what it says calling out the name of the Lord for salvation well number 10 the definition of call in the 1828 dictionary is to invite or draw into union with Christ to bring to know to believe now watch this and to obey the gospel one of the definitions of the word calling is to obey the gospel in the 1828 dictionary it means to owning and acknowledge it means to invoke or appeal to now that's the one that many people want to say today we're calling on Lord for whosoever shall invoke or appeal to God for salvation shall we say I believe that's the definition but that's the almost the last of all the definitions and then verse 13 to esteem or verse number 13 to esteem or account so you have all these different definitions of the word call as a verb it's also used as a noun and there's 14 definitions of the word call as a noun and the first one is a vocal address of summons or invitation so what people want to do is they want to take this word call and they want to say that calling upon the name of the Lord is a vocal thing and they want to say something you must do with your mouth and then they go and they define it themselves by saying and it means ask never been defined the word or they applied to the word what they're thinking was that the word meant so people today they will go to the word call and they'll try to tell you that call means ask and they try to equate it with confession and they say confession will Kali come on the Lord is confessing the Lord and so they go so far as to say that when you confess is when you get saved now that sure sounds like a Catholic doctrine to me confession for salvation Catholics believe in going to confession and when they finish their confessing of their sins to the priest the priest says to us well though i absolve you that's what he says in Spanish underline I'm Satan Latin or whatever language he says so he believes that you by confessing your sins to him the priest can forgive you is that what the Bible teaches for salvation do we confess our sins to God and by confession we're saved is it the mouth an actual confession that saves us well many people today go to that extreme and to say that salvation is with the mouth and that what you say with your mouth is what saves you it's that true is that what the Bible is saying when it says whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved well back to the definition number 10 - breaks you know to believe and to obey the gospel what he was talking about that UCC calling is more than one thing calling is believing the gospel now some people will attack and say well that's not true no calling me okay so you calling his only volkl so you believe the calling is with the mouth what if you call with the mouth but you don't believe from the heart are you saved believing that gospel needs to be from the heart as we'll see here in a little while later so I hope you can see how it's possible for a person with their mouth to call upon Jesus and not be safe because with their mouth they did something but what if they're not believing in the gospel from the heart are they saved you know most people don't think about this but it's true you can call on God and say oh god oh god oh god and said I need you to save me and you can do that with your mouth but are you saved what if there's no faith from the heart that's my testimony my testimonies on YouTube I have it there how my dad sent me down one day showed me many different verses from the Scriptures and showed me how it was lost as he went through the many different verses in the Bible and I realized man I had been calling upon God with my mouth for years from age 13 to age 18 every night before bed I'd get down next to the bed and said Oh God now please save me and I do that every single night why did I do that so much if I was saved why would I say it again because I had been instructed by a false religion and a false denomination that calling means asking with the mouth and so I thought well if I asked God with the mouth and he'll save me but I did it every single night before I went to bed from H 13th and 1818 of course is when I've heard the gospel for the first time was I saved if I was saved then why did I do it again which one of those times saved me but today people say know that asking for salvation from the mouth that's what saves you is it okay maybe it is well then I got saved quite a few times because I asked God to save me every single night in my life from age 30 no no I wasn't saved it was because I was asking with the mouth but I had no faith in the heart in anything I was thinking that the asking is what saved me and I didn't understand that with a heart man believeth unto righteousness so I was putting my faith in what I was saying and what I was praying and I wasn't trusting in what Jesus did for me on the cross now what did Jesus do for me on the cross well let me put the blood up here and you know that's that's not a rare testimony the older I get the more I meet people the more I realized that they too have the same testimony and I sit and I talk with them and they say well you know I said the sinner's prayer when I was a kid and every night I'd sit down and I pray and I'd say sort of couple in Lawrence oh lord please save me let me say every night they pray lord please save me and it wasn't till later in life that they understood the gospel and got saved so do you see how a person can say something with the mouth but still miss salvation sure they're calling on God for some but they're doing it with the mouth they're not going to this definition now you say well yeah well you don't need a dictionary the Bible to the Bible defines itself you know that was something else I was taught in Bible school that the Bible defines itself so okay let's let the Bible define itself then let's let's just cast away the dictionary and pretend that the dictionary definition is silly what does the Bible say about calling is calling in the Bible just from the mouth or is there a calling from somewhere else why let's go to 2nd Timothy chapter 2 and let the Bible define itself all right 2nd Timothy chapter 2 verse 22 second Timothy 2:22 says plea also you youthful lusts but follow righteousness faith charity peace with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart well if you want the Bible to define itself like I do I believe the Bible calling is not just with the mouth there is a calling upon God from the heart so from the heart there's a calling upon God so do you see that there's two colleagues there's one calling that's right that's the calling from the heart there's one calling that's wrong it's only with the mouth and not with the heart so when the Bible says whosoever shall call upon a Lord shall be saved the Bible's saying when you call from the heart but if you don't call from the heart and you only call from the mouth does that save you there's a right way to call upon the name of the Lord there's a wrong way for salvation which one is the right way well in our definition of calling from the Webster's 1828 dictionary it says to bring to know to believe to obey the gospel what does it mean to believe well I went to the 1828 Webster Edition Dictionary looked up the word believed now these people that want to go to Romans 10:13 and are so extremist that they believe that the calling is from the mouth and that the mouth saves you these people believe that that's what saves you they go to one extreme you see what's wrong with church today and people that claim to be saved is there going to an extreme quite often and they go to the wrong way the Bible says line upon line precept upon precept the Word of God is like a line you ever see a tightrope walker he's got to keep his eye on that line or he's gonna fall off this way or fall off that way which way is he gonna fall off the way that he's looking and so I don't want to look at what men are teaching I want to keep my eyes upon the line so I don't fall off in this extreme or fall off in that extreme well here's what you have today you have people that fall off into one extreme they become extremists and they get so extreme that they will not define calling according to the dictionary or the Bible and they'll say that it's the actual mouth that saves you and so it's what it's said with the mouth that's safe well that almost sounds like a work you're doing something with your mouth oh I won't go there but I'm just saying it's what you do with your mouth that saves you I've heard him say that before so they say that what you say with your mouth saves you so you call upon God with the mouth and you're saved that's an extreme extreme position and they go to that extreme so far that they say that it's the mouth that saves what you say with the mouth and that the belief is not what saves you and so what they do they attack believing in the gospel and they call it easy believe ISM and so many of these people that adhere to the Romans 10:13 calling with the mouth they believe against what they call easy believers so what they'll do is they'll say oh you say you believe the gospel well you're not saved because you never called upon the Lord with the mouth number one who are they to judge number two how do they know you see what's in your heart can come out in the mouth so it can't be that when you believe in the heart big does come out the mouth yeah that's possible but in the world in which we live today often people will repeat a prayer a vain religious prayer with the mouth without any faith from the heart are they saved so I don't want to be an extremist and take an extreme anti biblical position I want to take the Bible position what does the word believe me remember one of the definitions of calling is believing the gospel what does it mean to believe well they say well believe means only with the head that you know something so they said well if you just know the gospel and you said well now I believe it with the head they call that easy believe ISM and they said well you're not safe to begin with because you just believe it but you've never called really all right let's look at the word believe in the 1828 dictionary believe verb transitive to credit upon the authority or testimony of another to be persuaded of the truth of something upon the declaration of another or upon evidence furnished by reasons arguments and deductions of the mind or by other circumstances than personal knowledge when we believe upon the authority of another we always put confidence in its veracity the second definition to expect or hope took with confidence now watch this word to trust so believing means to trust something now we got a Bible word yes the word believe is in the Bible believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be safe but the word trust is in the Bible as well and quite often when it talks about the gospel it tells us we're supposed to trust the gospel so Trust is how you're saved I'm going to show you some verses on that so salvation is more than just calling with the mouth according to the other definition of the word there is a trust involved in which you're trusting in something from your heart what if you only call with the mouth but you don't trust from the heart are you saved that's a good question I have seen so many so many people they claim to be Christians that preach this sinner's prayer in which they go to people and say oh just repeat this prayer after me and then they declare that person saved because they repeated a prayer yes they said something with the mouth but you never see that person ever again or if you do that person's living a life of utter sinfulness and adultery and fornication and drunkenness and it's obvious that person is not a Christian and you go talk to them about you oh I don't believe in Jesus but I thought you said the prayer oh I said a prayer yeah I've said lots of prayers why is it they denied Jesus but yet with their mouths they called upon God for some I thought they were saved if they call with the mapper sub you see how a person can call it the mouth but not trust from the heart that's called a vain repetition and we're supposed to watch out for vain repetitions in the Bible so to believe is to trust so there's a believing of the gospel that accompanies calling would you agree and what it says what is that what is the trusting in what are you to trust when it comes to calling upon the name of the Lord are being saved well according to the Bible you're supposed to trust the gospel go with me to first to Ephesians when my favorite verses in the Bible Ephesians 1:13 Ephesians 1:13 is a great verse in the Bible it tells us about salvation and why people don't go to Ephesians 13 I don't know why don't we'll go to Romans 10:13 all the time when they probably should be going to Ephesians 1:13 because it explains it way better but no they want to go to Romans 10:13 and then tell somebody do something with your mouth well I go to Ephesians 1:13 and tell them look trust from the heart because it's the trusting you know we read earlier in Romans with the heart man believeth unto righteousness when you believe in what the gospel you receive salvation so if he since 1:13 says in whom ye also trusted after that ye heard the word of truth the gospel of your salvation and who also after that she believed you were sealed with that holy spirit of promise now here we have the word trust and believe used in the same verse and so it says after you've trusted the gospel after you believe the gospel you're sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise so what is salvation was the salvation when you said something with your mouth or did the salvation come when you called by faith in the gospel well we're going to look at a lot of verses today and I'm going to show to you that there are people out there that think that the words you say in a prayer are what you say with your mouth or asking not or begging God to save you they think that salvation and what are they omitting when they say that the gospel of salvation so what do they have they have a blood gospel a person needs to hear the gospel see what it says there after that you heard the word of truth the gospel of your salvation so you have to hear the gospel what happens if a person calls upon God with their mouth and says o God please save me and yet they haven't heard the gospel are they saved the Bible says you have to trust the gospel or you're not sealed with the Holy Spirit so it's a person like that saved according to the Bible no not until they trust from the heart in the gospel for salvation so what you have is you have people out there that are shallow in their understanding of the truth and shallow in their soul-winning and they go around and they just tell people who'll repeat this prayer after me and then get a person they trick them into repeating a prayer and then they assure them oh you're safe because you said the prayer and you know what's even worse is that person comes later and says you know I'm not sure if I'm saved or not and the person says oh well let's have insurance here let's say the prayer over again enforcing in that person's mind that lost person's mind that the actual prayer that they prayed is what saves and so if they doubt they're saved then just pray again and then the person that does that says well you set it with your mouth you said the sinner's prayer and you call upon the light see what they're doing they're taking the word calling and they're defying it only something done with the mouth and not the Bible way of calling by trusting in the gospel for salvation what does the Bible say Bible says you're saved when you trust the gospel now in order to be saved according to the Word of God there is a hearing and a knowing that must come first salvation is more than just oh I want to get saved so I'm just gonna say Oh God please save me you can do that and that's great but you're not saved when you do that if you're not trusting the gospel now there are some people that pray and the moment they pray they trust the gospel oh that's great but there are other people and many of them in this world we live today I've met them I was one of them in these denominational churches that are taught from it her eh we'll repeat this prayer and you'll be saved and our thinking is oh well the prayer saves us and then when we get to worry if we're saved or not will we say it over and up we've been taught wrongly that calling is the prayer and to trust in the prayer rather than trust in the blood of Jesus Christ so do you see how there can be people who are lost and yet they've called with their mouths upon the navel or why they have it by definition trusted in the gospel okay so let's go to Luke chapter one verse 77 before a person can be saved they must first here in know the gospel look at Luke 177 there is a knowledge involved of salvation now people that believe in easy believe these them they hate that oh they hate it when you say that you have to know something before you can get saved because they say well that's easy believing some that's telling somebody that just what they know saves them so they say so you're telling somebody they said by than mine rather than the heart yeah they're so blind they don't see what they're doing is telling your person you're saved by your mouth and they're ignoring faith from the heart huh talk about them kettle calling the pot black wait a minute what are we missing let's go to Luke chapter 1 verse 77 when Jesus is born right before he's born the Bible says that Jesus is to give knowledge of salvation unto his people to knowledge of salvation there's a knowledge that accompany salvation there's something you've got to know before you can get saved let's go to first Timothy chapter 2 verse 4 let me explain this to you unless you know something you can't get saved until you know what the gospel is you can't trust it and how are you saved by trusting the gospel first in a chapter 2 in verse 4 look what it says here it's talking about God our Savior verse 3 in verse 4 says who will have all men to be saved now watch this and to come to the knowledge of the truth so there is a knowledge that you need to have of the truth and until you have that College you can't get saved it doesn't matter how many times you call upon God with the mouth and say God save me God's at me God said until you get that certain knowledge of something you can't be saved well what do you have to know you have to know what the gospel is because salvation is by trusting the gospel let me show you another verse 2nd Timothy chapter 3 and verse 15 I'm just showing you what the Bible says they meant the Apostle Paul is speaking in verse 14 he says but continue down the things which thou has learned and that has been assured of knowing of whom that I have learned them verse 15 and that from a child thou has known the Holy Scriptures which are able to make thee wise unto salvation alright so the Word of God makes us wise unto salvation in other words we get wisdom from the Word of God which shows us what we have to know in order to get saved and what do we need to know that maketh thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus so salvation is by what faith now wait a minute what is faith well faith and believing are the same thing and trust is faith so faith believing trusting is how we're saved faith in what faith in the gospel believing in the gospel so if someone calls upon God with the mouth alone with no faith in the heart in the gospel or they say well people say well it's understood that that person is believing in the gospel when they call upon the Lord no it's not no it's not don't give me that in this world of which we live it's very hard very hard to hear the preaching of the gospel I get emails all the time for people that say hey brother breaker look I was raised in church 20 30 40 50 years I've never heard the gospel preached one time other people said brother breaker you know I used to go to a great church the price to preach the gospel now we can't find a good church that preaches the gospel no one's preaching the gospel anymore the Bible says we're in the last days and the last days there's apostasy we are in that apostasy in which there's been a falling away from the truth and we see it falling away from the truth and a lot of people have fallen away from gospel of salvation now let me show you some more verses here according to the Word of God there is a knowledge involved you have to know something before you can get saved let me show you this this is just scripture this is not my opinion let's look at what Jesus says in Matthew chapter 13 I want you to see this because there's a lot of blind Pharisees out there that I guess don't see this Matthew chapter 13 and verse 15 look at what the Bible says for this people's heart is waxed gross and their ears are dull of hearing and their eyes have been closed they have closed less than any time they said see with their eyes hear with their ears should understand with their heart now watch what Jesus said and should be converted so you have to hear understand and then believe and then there is a conversion what is the conversion conversion is when you're saved so out of the mouth of Jesus Christ he says that you're not just saved by saying Oh God saved me he says there must be a hearing and understanding and then when you believe that's when you're saved so when you say whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved you have to tell them what to call and how to call because you call upon God by trusting something by believing in something but if you tell someone no you're not saved by believing you're not to say by faith you just repeat this prayer you go to heaven what have you just done you've given them another gospel a false gospel a bloodless gospel and made them think that the prayer or that the words or the what they do with their mouth saves them and you just stand there sold ahead because they're not trusting the gospel they're trusting what they did with the lips they say well that was Jesus okay what about Acts chapter 28 did you know the Apostle Paul quotes these very same words of Jesus Acts chapter 28 verse 27 Paul quotes our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in verse 27 for the heart of this people is waxed gross their ears are dull of hearing their eyes that they close lest they should see with their eyes hear with their ears understand with their heart and should be converted and I should heal them so there has to be a hearing and an understanding before a person can believe and be converted so unless a person hears the gospel they can't be saved they must hear first well the day and age which we live I've come across many churches and many so-called pastors and many denominations they go around and they say things like this I've heard them say this with my own ears a person doesn't have to know anything about the gospel just be saved they just called on God and they get saved or I've heard them say things like yeah a person never has to understand the gospel or even know what it is if he just gets on his knees and cries out to God and says oh god please save me you'll get saved is that Bible is that teaching scriptural or is that someone lying and saying something that's not true well then they say well you're wrong breaker because you you're against calling on the name of the Lord no I'm not I am for calling upon the name of Lord for salvation and I am for defining what calling is you call by faith if you call vocally without faith you're lost if you call before even ever hearing or understanding the gospel you're lost you call on God once you've heard and understood the gospel and that's when you believe it that's when you get saved how anyone could teach otherwise I have no idea so salvation comes from a person hearing understanding believing the gospel and then they're safe believing what Acts chapter 15 in Acts chapter 15 listen to what Peter says this is interesting after the first time he never preached to a bunch of Gentiles Peter says in acts 15 seven and when there have been much disputing Peter rose up instead of them men and brother and you know how then a good while ago God made choice among us that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel and what belief salvation is not just saying oh god please save me and begging or asking god for salvation or repeating a prayer and then you're safe there must be a hearing and an understanding of the gospel first then you could say oh god I come to in prayer and I trust you I trust what you've done for me but if you don't know what Jesus has done for you and you ask him to save you how can you be saved if you're not understanding and hearing and believing and trusting and the thing that Jesus said to trust in to save you 2nd Corinthians chapter 4 you see this modern bloodless gospel of this Romans 10:13 will repeat this / after me it leaves out the gospel so it's not of God it's a man-made teaching sacred is 4:4 look what it says in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ who is the image of God should shine unto them for we preach not ourselves but Jesus Christ the Lord and ourselves your servants for Jesus sake so the Apostle Paul says look at verse 3 if our gospel be hid its hid to them that are lost so if a person goes and I'm a sinner I don't want to go to hell and he's never heard the gospel one time but yet he says God please save me did he get saved right then how could he if he has not heard the gospel understood and believed if he's never heard it then there's no conversion because the Bible says faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God again Ephesians 1:13 I've read Ephesians 1:13 earlier in Ephesians 1:13 we read and who he also trusted after that she heard the word of truth the gospel of your salvation oh you mean you got to hear it first before you can get saved in this world in which we live today there are many people that claim to be Christians that are going around telling people you want to get sent just repeat this prayer you want to get saved ask God to save you you want to get saved as Jesus in your heart one gets it and they're telling you to do something with the mouth but they're not telling you what you're supposed to hear that you're supposed to put your faith in because without hearing it and putting your faith in it then there's no conversion so we have a problem we have people out there that are telling people hey you want to get saved just repeat after me or just say this prayer or just ask God to save you and what are those people leaving out gospel of salvation what is the gospel of salvation first Corinthians 15:1 34 moreover brethren I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you which also you seem to wear and you stand by which also ye are saved if you keep in memory what I preached unto you unless you believed in vain fraud literally you first of all that which I also received how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures that he was buried and then he rose again the third day according to the scriptures now how do you receive that how do you stand in that he says by which you're saved because you have believed so salvation is through faith through believing through trusting in the finished work of Jesus Christ to tell someone a lost sinner we'll just ask God to save you is to get them to ask God for her salvation but then not telling them how to get that salvation because the Bible says they've got to hear the gospel and then when they believe the gospel that's when they get the salvation so you haven't even led them to salvation if all you do is tell them we'll just going to save you so you've got a problem so what if someone's called on God vocally in prayer with their mouth and got down under knees and said O God please save me but they've never heard the gospel nor understood is that person saved no how can they be what would they be trusting in you can't trust if something you've never heard how can you trust the gospel if you've never heard it so we have a false gospel being presented in the world today that's coming out of hell it's not of God and those who are teaching it are deceived into telling people well if you just repeat this prayer or just ask God in your heart or ask Jesus in your life or just bocalee just so God I want to be saved then you're telling those people that they're saved but yet how do you know they're saved Salvation conversion according to Paul and Jesus only comes when they've trusted the gospel if that person never heard the gospel then they have not saved yet so they are a false convert 1st Thessalonians 2:13 says but we were bound to give thanks always to God for you brother in beloved of the Lord because God hath from the chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth believing the truth what is the truth why where's he wearing - he called you by our gospel trusting the gospel is how your Co is how you're saved if you've asked God to say you are you've called the bun God with the mouth but you've never trusted from the heart in the gospel that you are still lost and you are not saved look at Colossians chapter 1 verse 5 I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news but actually it's good news because I'm telling you how to get saved try to anyway trying to give you the way of salvation what is Colossians chapter 1 and verse 5 says oh you cannot read the epistles of Paul and not see that over and over and over his stressing is to people to believe the gospel trust of the gospel Colossians chapter 1 verse 5 for the hope which is laid up for you in heaven where have you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel before you heard so you've got to hear before the gospel before you can get safe it doesn't matter how many times you ask God to save you or you call upon God with the mouth and say O God please save me until you actually believe the gospel you're still not saved it's the believing in the gospel that saves you know my dad knew all about this my dad went to the same Bible school I did and when my dad went to the Bible school and he went to he found out that there are a lot of people in that school that began to preach this other gospel oh just ask Jesus into your heart or ask God to save you and I began to preach more Romans 10:13 then first Corinthians 15 one through four and so my dad wrote my old pastor who was then still alive and who was the head of that Bible Institute because my dad used to hear what I used to hear when I went to Bible School their exact same thing that I'm teaching to you now what my dad used to hear was calling upon the name of the Lord for salvation was calling him by faith in the gospel from the heart and that used to be preached from the pulpit and so my dad wrote to the pastor of the Bible Institute where I went to and my dad wrote to him this and this is the return letter from this famous preacher to rockman and this is the letter that ruff been returned to my dad my dad wrote the letter and he says in the letter my dad was concerned because he heard people in that school going around and accepting this Romans 10:13 gospel and they weren't preaching the true gospel of salvation and this is how he returned to my father I don't know who the graduates were that you talked about in here about the blood because my dad said they're not preaching the blood atonement for salvation they're just telling people repeat this prayer or pray after me or this kind of stuff and then he says that there must have been some sort of quotation of some kind I've never told anybody that all they have to do was ask Jesus in their heart to save them I'm reading from this famous preacher he goes on I don't even teach a child that's the plan of salvation I don't teach anybody they're saved until they realize their own goodness will land them in hell I believe a man has to be saved from something and I believe he's saved from hell and I believe until he sees his own goodness can't save him the prayers don't amount to a hill of beans now what is he saying he's saying you're not saved by the prayer the actual calling from the mouth is not what saves you it's the belief from the heart after you've heard and understood the gospel now watch what he says here this is a term that this pastor used I'm gonna write it up here I've heard him say this many times from the pulpit because this famous preacher who's now deceased used to preach this not often but he used to preach that just because you call it upon God for salvation with the mouth doesn't mean you're saved you have to believe from the heart watch what he call he called it cashing in let me read this to you he says now a man can ask Jesus Christ to save him how with the mouth vocally he could say Oh God please save me and then months later or years later the Lord may cash in and bring the man to the point of salvation because he asked because the book says whosoever shall call upon the name of Lord shall be saved but if he doesn't give up his self righteousness the prayer is useless according to Romans chapter 10 God doesn't say people are going about to establish their own righteousness now what is he saying here cash he said a person can ask Jesus Christ to save them then months later or years later the Lord may cash in and bring the point to the point of salvation because he asked so what he was saying is if you tell a person just ask God to save you you know Roman sent there - so does your caller the person thinks that means with the mouth and so the person with their mouth they say Oh God save me he said they're not saved yet until someone brings them the gospel and once they bring the gospel that's when the person can get saved when they trust the gospel so when a person prays and says oh god please save me they got up in heaven goes up oh we need to get this guy the gospel right now so he can get saved hey hey Gabriel hey Michael did somebody to preach that guy the gospel because he wants to get saved and he can't get saved until he trusted so let's cash in on that guy let's bring him to the point salvation why let's get him the gospel to trust in so he can get saved that's what he's saying right here that's a term I heard him use from the pulpit many times cash in what does that mean that means he knew that you're not saved until you hear and understand and believe the gospel and then God will cash in if someone wants to be saved God so like I want somebody I'll send somebody to give him the gospel because if you pray and ask God to save you without the knowledge of the gospel and understanding what it is then there's no conversion it's not until you hear the gospel and understand and believe that you're even saved do you know what that means that means there are countless people out there who claim to be Christians who and with the mouth prayed and said oh god please save me and they're just as lost as they golf ball and high weeds they are lost and they're not saved yet and you know why I'm preaching a message like this to give you the gospel hopefully we can cash in today maybe you'll get saved today that's what I hope I hope you get saved by trusting the gospel you know it's not wrong to get down on your knees and ask God to save you but that's not what saves you but what have you done you've told God hey don't want to go to hell now it's up to God to get you the thing that you're supposed to trust in so you can't go to heaven and when you trust the gospel that's when you go to heaven so have you trusted the gospel many churches today do they teach what I'm preaching to you right now no they don't even preach the gospel at all all they do is just say Oh God please save me Oh a person doesn't have to hear or understand the gospel to get say though a person doesn't need it here and so they do is they preach this new doctrine a lot of it comes from the Hiles person who started we called the Romans Road there's one two three pray after me you know repeat a prayer and they put all the emphasis on the calling from the mouth rather than the calling upon the Lord from the heart you say what's the difference is there a difference on calling upon the Lord from the heart or calling upon the Lord from the mouth let's go to Romans chapter 10 and I want to read the whole context I want you to see what Romans chapter 10 says in context the entire chapter Romans chapter 10 starts out with the Apostle Paul talking about these Jews Israel rather than my heart's desire and prayer for God to Israel is that they might be saved verse 2 for I bear them record that they have a zeal of God but not according to knowledge oh oh they they lack knowledge they have a real zeal for God they want God they talk about God they say they love God but they don't have the knowledge of what salvation you see he says I want them to be saved but they're not saved until that knowledge comes same with a person who might have called from the mouth and said Oh God saved me until the knowledge of the gospel comes to them and they trust the gospel they're not saved they might have a zeal for the Lord but they're not saved until they trust the gospel so we need to pray that God would cash in and get those people saved it says in verse 3 for that being ignorant of God's righteousness and going about to establish their own righteousness have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God for a Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that what believeth over and over again salvation is for believing it's trusting now watch this verse 5 for moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law that the man which did those things shall live by them verse 6 but the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise okay these people they want to go to Romans 10:13 and they say well speaking is what saves you so it's what you say with your mouth and so what you speak oh really okay so you're saved by what you say with your mouth they say what is the very next thing in this chapter which is a faith speaketh on this wise say not in thine heart do you see what the context of faith is faith speaks from the heart what the Bible is saying in Romans chapter 10 is when you from the heart believe the gospel that calls out to God and that faith calls out to God you see God's looking at everyone's heart and just looking for the person that's gonna trust the gospel when they trust by faith not in their own righteousness but in the righteousness of Christ and they trust the gospel it's like their heart knows God I got it I can't I see it I trust it and God says he's sealed he's sealed you see doesn't just come out of the mouth it comes from the heart but the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise say not in my heart who shall ascend into heaven that is bright and bring down Christ from above or who shall descend into the deep that is to bring up Christ again from the dead now watch what it says verse 8 but let's say it either word is in is nigh thee even in thy mouth and in 9 part so yes the word can come out the mouth I'm not saying it can't but it must come from the heart if you at the mouth say O God please save me and there is no faith in the gospel from the heart are you saved no you are a false convert you're someone who has done something and then you expect God to save you because you asked him but God hasn't cashed in yet because God said in his holy word that the only way you can be converted is that you have to hear and then believe after you understand the so until you hear believe and understand you're not even safe yet you might have said a hundred million prayers with your mouth but the prayer is is is worth about a hill of beans so it's the it's the saint saving is from the word of faith look what it says here per se but what say it the word is nigh thee even in thy mouth and in thy heart that is the Word of Faith which we preach what does the Apostle Paul saying he's saying we're preaching that by faith is how we're saved and that even though that can come out the mouth and sometimes it does it's got to come from the heart now look what he says in verse 9 that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God has raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved so it's believing in the heart right people say yeah but it's confessing with a confession is what you do when you are saved when you're saved you'll confess that you're saved that comes after the confession itself doesn't save you it's whether or not you believe from the heart how do you know that verse 10 for what the heart man believeth unto righteousness imputed righteousness by believing by faith and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation when you're saved you'll confess that you're safe said Corinthians 4:13 Paul says we believe therefore we speak so because we believe the gospel then we speak and we say I believe the gospel that's confession the actual confession with the mouth isn't what saves you it's whether or not you've believed in the gospel from the heart verse 11 for the scripture saith whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed wow so it's believe me that seals the deal that saves us verse 12 for there's no difference between the Jew and the Greek for the same lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him how do you they call upon the Lord why 2nd Timothy 2:22 of a pure heart their calling upon God from the heart yes it might come out the mouth too but it's the heart the mouth speaketh the Bible says there are some things that we say out of our mouth that comes from the heart then there are other things we say with our mouth that we don't even believe and I'll show you a verse on that in a minute so it's got to be the matter of the heart when did you first hear the gospel understand and believe because that's when the conversion took place if all you've done is set a prayer with your mouth but you've never heard or trusted the gospel that you are lost and you need to God to cash in on you by hearing the gospel this just might be the time that you do hear the gospel and believe it and get safe and then it says verse 13 for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved numbers 14 how then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard and how shall they hear without a preacher well there you go without hearing how do you get saved but today that's all they preach I repeat this prayer after me or say something with the mouth and you're safe yeah but what about a preacher preaching the gospel oh they don't preach the gospel they tell you the mouth is what saves you so save the purse so they put the emphasis on the prayer rather than Christ the propitiation and that leads to people thinking well the prayer saves me just like that old Bob Jones video heard of us a good prayer mister thinking that the prayer itself saved him it's not the prayer that says it's whether or not you've heard the gospel understood and believed because that's when you're converted that's when you're saved let me continue verse 14 how then shall they call on him and whom they have not believed in how so they believed in him who they're not heard and how shall they hear without a preacher verse 15 how shall they preach except they be sent as it is written how beautiful are the feet of them that preach Romans 10:13 is that what it says no that preached the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things it's preaching of the gospel that leads to conversion why because until you hear the gospel and believe it you can't be saved so do you see how people take Romans 10:13 out of context and rather than preaching Romans 10:13 with the gospel often they preach it in place of the gospel and then till a person who suffers couple name Lord shall be saved and that person thanks look call means I'm calling on you or call so I guess that just means prayer so oh god please save me what have they done well that's good that's a sign that shows they want to be saved but now it's up to God to get them to gospel to trust so that they will be saved because that didn't save them just asking God to save you does not save you you've got to trust the gospel to be safe verse 16 but they have not all obeyed the gospel for Isaiah saith Lord who hath believed our report again believing it's through believing that we're saved and it's through the gospel verse 18 so then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God without faith there's no salvation I've come across people that I've met they claim to be Christians and I asked him what's your testimony they say well when I was five years old I repeated the prayer because my mom told me to I said well did you ever heard the gospel what's that and so I gave them the gospel of 1st Corinthians 15 one through four I said I never heard that before I said well then are you saved and I shown these verses and they say well I guess I would say my whole life I thought I was a Christian because I did the little thing that I was told to do in the church and I repeated the little prayer but all my life I thought I was safe because of something I did the prayer I said that I wasn't trusting in the blood that Jesus shed so do you see how in their mind they're thinking that what they did save them rather than trusting what Jesus did to save them do you see how this is a damnable heresy and how it can lead people to hell if you do not rightly divide the word of truth and explain Romans 10:13 in context if all you give a lost soul is Romans 10:13 how do you know they're gonna get saved you maybe know if they've ever heard the gospel shame on you if that's all you ever give them why don't you give them first Corinthians 15 one through four at least well it just makes me sad just makes me sad that you have all these people out there that claim to be Christians that are preaching another gospel they don't preach the true gospel and then when you preach the gospel like I do right here they attack you and say you haven't eat you spawn of Satan you demon from hell you're teaching another gospel because you're preaching against Romans 10:13 no I'm not i'm defining romans 10:13 I'm telling you that calling upon the name of Lord for salvation is your coming to God and you're saying I understand the gospel and now I receive it and god I just want you to know I take what you've done for me and I trust your blood it's not coming to God outside of the gospel and asking God to save you and expected him to do it but that's what many people say I like that term cash in I want God to cash in I want people to want to be saved but I know the only way to be saved is through the gospel nothing close with this in Jesus time when he came to this earth Jesus came at a time of apostasy and when he came he found a whole bunch of lost religious people and Jesus ministry was here and he found a bunch of people called a pasta called Pharisees and I'll just abbreviate and he found that these Pharisees they claimed to be of God but they preached something different than what God told them to preach and God Himself manifest in the flesh showed up and rather than saying thank god he's here they killed him because they were so in apostasy they did not recognize the true God they did not recognize salvation Jesus Christ was their salvation we're living in a day and age today where it's almost the same we're living in a day and age where many people say oh I'm a Christian but what are they they're lost religious people they claim the name of God but they're blind because they're blinded to to the gospel they don't see the truth and they don't have the truth and they don't see salvation for what it is so what do these people do well the same thing as in Jesus day go to matthew chapter 15 and verse 8 look what Jesus said about the lost religious hypocrites in his day it's the same as the lost religious hypocrites of our day because the matthew 15:8 jesus says this people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth mouth and honoureth me with their lips lips they say calling is just what you say with your mouth or your lips but then look what Jesus says but their heart is far from me what do they do in vain they worship Me teaching for doctrines the commandments of men we have a false denomination in the world today in apostate so-called Church that's running around telling people who suffers a couple anymore she'll be saved and that means if you'll just with your mouth say Oh God please save me that you'll go to heaven that's a lie from hell that's giving lip service to Jesus but when never stressing that a person should trust from their heart in the gospel of salvation what does that do it leads a person into thinking that they're saved by something they said with their mouth I get emails all the time from people that watch my videos and said brother breaker I finally got saved I just can't believe I was so deceived I was saying the sinner's prayer every night over and over and I thought that saved me and then I realized that's not how I'm saying I'm saved by trusting what Jesus did for me well praise God God cashed in and got him saved but they saw that it's not just what you say with your lips it's whether or not you've trusted from the heart mark chapter 7 and verse 6 he answered and said unto them well hath Isaiah prophesied of you hypocrites as it is written this people honors me with their lips but their heart is far from Acts chapter 8 verse 37 says if thou believest with all thine heart thou mayest salvation is by faith from the heart Galatians chapter two verse four and five Pulse places the emphasis on the gospel Philippians 1 5 the Apostle Paul says look our fellowship should be in the gospel yet you go to many churches today they don't even know what the gospel is I had someone contact me the other day they went up to a church and they said that church is in their town was one of the only churches in their town and they went over there and they knocked on the door and they said the pastor was there and they said hi my name is so-and-so who are you the pastor long pastor so-and-so and you know this church has been closed for a long time so we decided we're gonna open it up again and I'm the pastor of this church you know what it was it was a Baptist Church well this guy who called me on the phone he said well I asked that man cuz I watch your videos Robert breaker he said I ask that man will appear the pastor what's the gospel because you know isn't a pastor supposed to preach the gospel so he said to the man he said if you're the pastor what's the gospel and the pastor says well you know it's so it's you know Matthew Mark Luke John Hay says no it's not those are Gospels plural because they talk about the gospel of Jesus but where in the bible does it say this is the gospel and that pastor went well you know any even you tell the guy was getting kind of scared and so this guy a viewer of mine says would you like to know when he took them to first Corinthians 15 one through four now that is a shame that is a shameful thing that there's a man that claims to be a pastor he doesn't even know what the gospel is you know what the problem is all he heard was the Romans 10:13 just calling to God and I'm sure he probably said the prayer he probably instructed others hey repeat this per after me and all he's doing is telling people with the lips to come to Jesus but he's not showing them how to come to Jesus through faith in the heart in the gospel from the heart in the gospel well Philippians 1:7 says even as it is meat for me to think this of you all because I have you in my heart as much as both in my bonds and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel you are all partakers of my grace all I want to do today is defend the gospel of salvation and try to confirm it try to ask you are you saved when is the time in your life that you first heard the gospel and understood and believed because that's when you got saved was it when you've repeated a prayer or way back in your kid I mean it could have been for some people maybe so that they had already heard it but for many people they've never heard the gospel they're trusting in will I called upon the name of the Lord by it by with my vow saying O God saved me well if you did that and you never heard the gospel you're still lost you're still lost and I want to confirm in you whether or not you've trusted the gospel have you have you trusted the gospel you could be a lost Minister a lost preacher a lost Bible teacher you could be a lost Sunday school teacher or deacon and you could be watching my video and you're just as lost as a goose because you did the romans 10:13 thing with the mouth but you never trust it from the heart not to late why don't you get saved today Philippians 1:27 and I'll close the Apostle Paul says only let your conversation be is to be cometh the gospel of Christ that whether I come and see you or else be absent I may hear of your affairs that you stand fast in one spirit with one mind striving together not against each other notice that it says not striving against each other as some ministers do attacking each other striving together for the faith of the gospel so what God wants is our faith in the gospel that means you believe the gospel how can you believe it without having never heard it first whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved I believe that but I believe whosoever shall call upon the name the Lord means whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord from the heart by faith in the gospel it does not mean whosoever shall compliment me more just with their mouth because if you've called with the mouth alone I never trusted in the gospel from the heart you are still lost and on your way to hell and this message is not to put you down it's not to attack you or ridicule you or make fun or mock you like some ministers like to do other Christians know it's to help you get saved you can honestly look back in your life and say well I never heard this brother break I was told in my church just Romans 2:13 just ask God to save you well then I want you to look into your heart and ask whether then I really get saved have I really gotten say I might still holding on to something I said back then or am i holding on to what Jesus did there's a lot of old preachers many years ago that saw this I don't even have time to get into this I was going to mention some of this the old preachers looked at this modern teaching of oh just ask God to save you as from the Unitarians and Universalists and they looked at it is against the gospel many of them used to preach against someone just saying you're saying about what you say with your mouth they said you're trusting from the heart I guess I'll close with this one old famous famous preacher I mean I don't really like that much he was a Calvinist but he's well-known Baptist preacher in England from his famous sermon our suffering substitute he says that were to be saved by faith in Christ and in Christ alone do you think that must experience this or that before thou cometh unto Jesus rely not on anything now kids do or think or say or no rest alone on Jesus only in that work saved give up all other trusts and rely on Jesus alone alone on Jesus and thou shall pass from death unto life you see it's not what you do that saves you if there are people out there that think well you know when I was a little kid at I repeated the trailer so I must be a Christian I must be safe and what are they thinking they have a zeal for God but they're trusting in our own righteousness and they've not submitted themselves to the righteousness of Christ they're still thinking oh well that's what saved me and they're not trusting in the gospel alone to say that I hope this is a blessing hope this clears it up I have not twisted or changed any definitions of terms today I'm not put for my own idea of what I think it means or what it says I have simply showed you the scriptures from the Word of God sure I've read the words of some other men but also showed that they agree with what the Bible says and I've tried to show you that the emphasis is salvation by grace through faith in the gospel never should we put the emphasis on what we do we should always put the emphasis on trusting and what Jesus Christ has done for us I hope this will be a blessing I hope if you are a Christian and you are saved and you go out to win souls to Jesus Christ I hope you do everything within your power to present clearly the gospel of salvation so that sinner will not be deceived into thinking well I'm safe because this prayer saved me rather they should understand full of the gospel and if they do get saved they'll say I'm saved because Jesus saved me because I'm trusting and what he's done thank you for watching we'll see you next time
