[Music] [Music] all right what's up locker nuts we are taking our once a year trip to pinecrest pine crescent lake we're going to go stay at the cabin we stay at there's grace camille in the back seat say hi girls hello we are they're doing actual school back there right are you still in class uh no i'm super calm all right yeah they were doing their online school from the car crazy times all right we've been on the road for about what an hour and a half now and uh coming up to one of our favorite eating establishments yeah little deli that we stopped at and uh it's amazing food really good and we have probably about what another hour and a half to go uh yeah yeah but we're not going straight there we're gonna make a stop and do a little sightseeing out in gold country [Music] there's the good stuff right here that's what i got try tip sandwich oh yeah [Music] [Music] no i have nothing to say you always have plenty to say um did you bring the um conditioner like this i did not you know what we didn't pack the sunblock uh there's some in the green bag i did too is this for the kids there's a cool one right there oh they changed the name rustic roses that used to be called funky junk you remember that i remember that that's the one store one of the stores we always want to go to that's interesting you remember that huh yeah on the left up here there's like a there's a good one too there's antiques and stuff it's the one that has the lock uh like a safe and it used to be big we may have already passed that huh look at that republican headquarters [Music] cool dude on a motorcycle why do you know he's cool because he looks cool no he doesn't kill people oh my gosh okay look at this church coming up this is the church i was talking about i remembered it from before you guys isn't that beautiful it is so pretty saint james this is pretty yeah this town is pretty oh i really like sonora yeah it's pretty cool look at that cremation services 9.95 i've never seen a price point ever on the side of the road for cremation oh i got the signs of miles that's pretty good oh it's super cheap what does he have a fire pit down there playing his property like a burn barrel throws you in the burn barrel my chip in there all right we are at a very historic spot it's called columbia this is a town that was basically a result of the gold rush that happened in this area this is gold country so we're about to go through uh this uh neat little town is like time capsule preserved historic very cool you excited i've gone here you know wow probably at least three years maybe longer it was i think grandma and grandpa was with this yeah remember i think they were on that stage coach with us stagecoach there's like no one here so i don't even know i don't know how much of this is gonna be open we can still walk through it's cool there's some masonic hall right there it's cool [Music] oh yeah evil cottage wasn't that open before i can't remember either down there look at that [Applause] oh look what's that over there mine supply store hidden treasure gold mine oh pan for gold here is it open doesn't look like it's open maybe it is let's go keep out trash pastors will be shot on site remember survivors will be hung up this is for the gold panning oh well if we left a little earlier on sunday we'd come by there's any gold in here nope just leaves there actually is water so when we actually have a pan in the car you see it's like a gold there you do right there what do we know about gold though um no that's all you know about goal really yeah so would it be sitting on top of this hand where do you find it at the bottom so that's more likely fool's gold right this is like a ghost town because there's no one here it's kind of crazy we've actually never been here with so few people no never this really is yeah it's funny it could be oh there's the candy oh i can just do it how cool is this [Music] [Music] yeah very cool [Music] that's all right how long is surprise like 10 minutes [Music] they try to depict it as it might have been in the 1850s and the reason why they put it here is because just across the road is where the hillgrook party actually discovered gold here in colombia oh wow i think there's a leak that's some history right there i think our engine's got a leak hey guys and so they do that every year the third weekend today the same weekend as the calaveras project oh okay so if you've never been to the frog jump you can make it a weekend [Music] is that during the fair time yeah yeah is that like a mark twain uh tradition yeah how neat well do you know how many horsepower this car has two that's right step up yeah so all of this area's been dug dug out surface level was above us at one time and the miners physically dug the soil surrounding these rocks and covering the rocks they dug it out and wash it away so the each miner would come in the stake of claim was usually about 100 square feet so 10 feet by 10 feet by 10 feet by 10 feet they dig that down as deep as they could go usually the average depth is 12 to 15 feet so what year were they originally working at 1852 1850 this place went from a group of six miners to over 3 000 in one month and at its peak there was over 6 000 miners mining here and town population was above twenty thousand had 150 different businesses 24 of those were saloons gold rush sarsaparilla candy cigarettes oh my gosh i don't ever see those anymore 350. oh it's cool what did they do they look they're shaped like little cigarettes and you can pretend it's the way to train your kids to smoke cigarettes when they're older [Music] let's see how long we can go girls to adopting another car it's kind of cool do you want to have a face time with can't even smell any smoke that's a nice break been smelling smoke for weeks now it's not heavy you'll be grabbing more than that right now there's our cabin down there i'll be carrying more than that trust me oh really yeah oh sorry whoa all right guys let's go for a little tour let me show you around the cabin that we stay at this is a friend of my dad's this is his place his family's place very cool [Music] very nice we've been coming up here for several years now and uh it's kind of tradition for us we're really lucky to be able to use this it's such a nice nice cabin very cozy you tell that the the owners they've owned it for a long time but you can tell that they definitely put a lot of love and attention to it we love i love all the the special stuff like the little collection of creamers up here that kind of inspired us to pick up some creamers earlier we auctioned those off a little a few weeks ago a little collection of creamers that we develop on our own uh here's the little living room here family room whatever beautiful uh fireplace there i was talking about the guy in the mirror let's talk about the fireplace big screen tv kind of nice uh it's one of the luxuries it wasn't here when we first started using the place there was a little tiny tv when we first came here we just came in so uh girls well grace doing our homework you a zoom okay go right ahead uh yeah we're going to get got to find the blower blow the deck off for the first one's here so my dad's on his way and then here's the view of the lake there's jenna down there and camille we've been here not even like eight minutes and there she is already in the lake sitting on the rock she loves it here hey camille all right here's a lot of people walk along the trail here watch this follow grace in the house i really annoy her okay we gotta be quiet she's on a facetime she's on facetime here's the girls room two little beds right here very cool here's the uh master that's where jenna and i sleep got a little bathroom right there pretty cool right very very cool all right thank you for the full tour here oh we have a little staircase up here there's a little you know what let's go up there i never go up here the kids always love going up here oh it's dark oh it's really dark here's the uh attic three more beds uh so if we have any company come stay with us you know some of the kids come up or whatever to visit oh there's a crib right there nice there's a few extra beds up here oh a little tv i think that's the tv that used to be in the master all right let's see let me show you the rest of the place it's a little dark because literally we just walked in dropped our bags there's a little bathroom right here bathroom number two here's the second bedroom very nice so my dad sleeps and back here i have a little pantry and laundry pretty nice my dad prefers this room because the views are spectacular look at that lots of views out the window beautiful beautiful beautiful you open the windows up at night and listen to the sounds of the lake all right so we'll be up here for three nights three nights and then uh back home back to school just time for our options and uh probably will not be ready to come home by the time we have to leave it's so beautiful here it really is this is where i sit and edit videos in the morning this is where we play
