I bought a broken $260 gaming PC from Facebook Marketplace and wait until you see what we got the seller had it listed for $750 Australian doll then he dropped it to 500 and ultimately I actually asked him for 400 and he accepted he says that he tried different RAM and a different CPU But ultimately concluded that the motherboard was dead it has not been powered on in over 2 years and it's just been sitting there collecting lots of grime and dust but we're going to put in the time to get this PC cleaned up complete test each part and see how this Beast performs so this is a dual r9290 system and with both gpus around 90 Australian dollar each and the power supply believe it or not is actually worth at least 2/3 of the cost that we paid we've actually got ourselves a killer deal now as I said the seller says that the motherboard is dead there is dust absolutely everywhere and I've actually found a spider living inside the build there's also webs down the bottom here next to the power supply so I'm hoping I don't find anything that is still alive the tubes are completely gone Once Upon a Time the liquid was actually white believe it or not now inside the reservoir is completely clear the fan filter up the top is completely disintegrating it's falling apart it's not doing its job properly on the rear he's installed an aftermarket fan filter and it's not even covering where the panel holes are so it too is not doing its job apart from all the dust and grime the case itself is actually not too bad condition I can't can't see any wear and tear marks maybe small ones here and there but I think once we get this cleaned up it's going to look as good as new hopefully it's just the motherboard that's dead and nothing else because if that is the case this is going to be a easy fix for us and we'll be able to flip it for a nice profit now while my editor and I put together this video I'd love to give away three full licenses of film AA to our audience just comment below your experience with using the free film AA video editing program and we'll pick through winners fil is a video editor program that we use for editing loads of our videos it has built-in AI features that make editing super easy for the individual now with the AI co-pilot tool if you don't know how to do anything such as brighten your clip or even apply a flame effect you can actually ask the AI to show you the steps on how to do that there is even AI text based editing so if there's a particular paragraph or a couple of words or a line that you don't like you can simply highight it press delete and it'll actually delete it from your clip it's that simple let's not forget we also have ai text to video as well and we also have ai copywriting so we can actually type in a video topic get a few ideas for our video and even have it generate a few video titles you could also try AI thumbnail Creator which will allow you to take your favorite snapshot of your video allow you to pick different themes and edit it and you can even add your own uh text on top AI music music generator also gives you a load of different sound options for the background of your video to choose from depending on the mood that you're in we're still have access to all the features we know and love like video effects speed ramping green screening audio visualizer and even audio D noise if you want to try it out for free it is available on Windows Mac IOS and Android I'll leave a link down below [Music] [Music] so now that we've got everything out of the case we could actually take a closer look at what we are dealing with here so to start with the case is actually in a really good condition it's greasy and grimy and obviously very dusty but apart from that once I get the hose on it I think it's going to clean up really well I don't see too many surface scratches or anything around the outside of the case the thump screws they're a little worn so I'll probably give them a little bit of a paint job as well the family of spiders up there they'll be easy to remove as well so we'll be able to get this uh PC insect free now the weirdest thing that I did find with this case was all of these washers they were just all sitting at the bottom there's got to be at least 15 washers there so I don't know why they were just sitting down below but they were there we found them so I've got an endless supply of washers now so let's go ahead and get this case fully cleaned out [Music] [Music] well this case has certainly had a fantastic cleanup and I got to say it's actually in a really good condition there isn't really any marks or anything over it kind of looks brand new the only marks that I found were on the rear side just some scuff marks that's General wear and tear and that's to be expected with a case that's this many years old now of course we did have a spider living inside that's gone now there's no more animals living inside of here the case now smells like lemon I think it is yeah so I mean that's better than what it smelt like before the only thing that I did find with this case is this front panel right here doesn't have any clips that hold it in place anymore they seem to have snapped off the bottom and the only thing holding them is the sort of top half of the clips so what I might try and do is figure out some way underneath to keep it fully clipped in on the bottom side then it should be good to go well we have ourselves here an older Ultra durable am3 motherboard DDR3 compatibility so I hope if the CPU is broken in any way I have a spare one just in case but you can see here that this motherboard it's been sitting there for a very long time we have grease and grime all over it all in the ram slots all down below here in all of the io connectivity all over the pcie slots there's so much in amongst the fins as well it's going to be hard for our toothbrush to reach in there so we may have to get the pipe cleaner in there too to get in between all the little gaps the CPU socket itself is actually not too bad around it a little bit of dust so we'll make sure we clean up all of that and a little bit of hair stuck to it as well and this rear IO here really needs the pipe cleaner in between all of these gaps that the toothbrush will not reach but it should clean up nicely and hopefully we can get it working but as I said the seller did say the mother world was dead so we'll wait and see [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] the motherboard this is the big mystery of this whole entire project the seller reckons it doesn't work we clean it up I can't find anything that I can see is wrong with it but you know there's lots of hidden items on here which could play a role in making this motherboard not work we got all of the dust out all the fins are clean the ram slots completely clean superu socket no dust at all even the PCI lanes and down the bottom there completely clean the rear IO is looking pretty bad in terms of staining but there is no more dust on there as well so it should be functioning as best as it ever has this will be an interesting one I can't wait to test it out so our CPU is the AMD fx8350 and on first glance it looks like that there wasn't enough thermal paste used there's barely any on the CPU block and there is little to none on the CPU itself and it is completely dried up I mean it has been sitting there for 2 years so that could have been the reason but a Fresh coat of thermal paste is certainly going to do this CPU some good now upon first glance none of the pins look damaged at all it looks to be in pretty good order so I don't see why this CPU wouldn't work again but as I said we will test everything outside the case before we put it all back together cuz I really want to narrow down if the motherboard is dead or if something else is dead in the system now apart from the obvious grease SC and dust on the radiators I really want to focus on what is happening inside the tubes all of this white coating is all of the residual drop off from the white liquid if you guys remember it was completely clear when we removed it and that means that all of the white Gunk is not only through the tubes but it's going to look like this inside the radiator so we're going to have to do some heavy cleaning inside of these in order to remove all of that Gunk I'm talking things like vinegar bleach and even some system prep now obviously by the coating on the tubes we know that the liquid was previously white but I've also found blue liquid on this one so at one point in time I believe the liquid in the system was blue I also found some yellow dye so the liquid liid could have also been yellow at one point in time as well now the fact that there is a lot of blue liquid going down this radiator suggests to me that either they spiled it while filling or there has been a leak at some point in time in this Loop the fins on this particular radiator are a little bit damag but the water channels are fine so it's not going to hurt the radiator's performance at all for those of you who are old school water coolers you'll know exactly what this is in the tube they've got a silver kill coil and silver is a natural bioside and that's what the water coolers used to put in their Loops as a preventative for mold and algae and things like that now these should clean up well with the toothbrush and I'll probably hose the fins out as well first to try and remove a lot of that dust let's get into it [Music] apart from the gpus is one of the more harder things to clean we can't actually see inside the radiator so we don't 100% know if we've completely cleaned them out or not however I will say I did three rounds of CLR and one round of bleach until everything was coming out clear and you guys would have SE we had stuff coming out blue so this was really caked in here but it seems like we've got the majority of it it even looks clean when I'm looking into the ports there there's a little bit of staining and stuff around the ports but I'm also going to be doing a system prep Loop run to try and clean it even further now as I touched on earlier we do have a little bit of th damage that's not actually going to affect the cooling ability of the radiators at all because it's not the water channels that are damaged I will say though I made a bit of a mistake myself um I accidentally dropped this radiator here it doesn't look like it's caused any puncture or anything like that any s I'm not sure if it's going to affect the ability to do uper fitting or not but I will leak test this and see if I have caused any damage if I have then we still have the single 360 and I can see if I have another 240 L around somewhere but yeah just sucks that uh I did that I accidentally dropped it wasn't really paying attention so yeah that that is my fault now this power supply the seic prime titanium rated power supply 1,000 WS is probably one of the best power supplies on the market and this is the most expensive part of this build they definitely didn't skimp out when it comes to the power the power supply looks completely clean on the inside even around the sides it looks pretty good but on top obviously it's been sitting there for a while so that's where the dust has accumulated there it's just going to be a simple wipe off really and then this power supply will be good to go I will try and blow out the inside with the blower as well just to see if there is any loose dust there but I don't think we need to open up this one so let's get this looking brand new honestly guys not much to say about this one a quick wipe over and we also did blow it out just to try and remove any little dust particles inside but for the most part it looks super clean inside anyway so as long as this works that's 3/4 of our money back in Profit just from the power supply well we'll have to wait and see our good old CPU block I am very worried about what it's going to look like on the inside especially with the state of the tubes if it's anything to go by it's not going to look pretty on the inside mold lots of buildup but the toothbrush will be able to get into the fins so I have some hope there it'll be interesting to see if any of the nickel plating is stripped or not the only time will tell once we open it up hopefully it is an easy clean the thermal paste on the back is not looking the best very dry doesn't look like there was a lot of paste applied in the first place surprised the CPU wasn't overheating but maybe there was just enough 2 years ago when he was actually using it so we'll wait and see how the CPU performs the CPU block was absolutely terrible inside the nickel plating had started stripping there was rust and corrosion we were able to remove that using some CLR we actually let this sit in the CLR for overnight which completely stripped all of that terrible Gunk especially in between all of the fins and so we got that cleaned up nicely but unfortunately we can't do anything about the nickel plating stripping but it shouldn't affect the performance at [Music] all the only other thing we noticed is that the EK water blocks badge has a little bit of scuff marks General wear and tear and on the rear as well there's a few little scratches here and there but again not going to affect performance so it should be good to go for our Ram we have 16 GB of DDR3 RAM from corset this is running at 1866 MHz and C9 timings there's a little bit of dust over it and around the edges as well the toothbrush will be able to get in between all of the fins on the top there so I'm not too worried about this I think it will clean up nicely my only uh concern well not too much a concern but if you look at the top fins on this one it looks like something has actually hit it and bent the fins so I'm sure we'll be able to get them straightened up but I'm wondering what could actually cause that this has received a heavy knock at some point in its life quite interesting anyway let's get them cleaned up [Music] so we got our Ram nice and clean and unfortunately while straightening these blades I did scratch up the surface just a tiny bit in a couple of spots but it looks much better where it is now compared to how it was before where the fins were actually squished I much prefer to have those little tiny scuff marks as opposed to it being all bent and dented now I probably could have avoided those scuff marks by maybe putting like a rag or something there first as I was bending to prevent the teeth marks on my tools from stripping any of the paint but lesson learned for next time you know I've never really said this before when it comes to cleaning at our PCS but the liquid inside was actually the worst smelling part of the whole build when we opened up this cap and we started taking the water out the stench of it was absolutely terrible there is mold growing inside of this there is all of that white Gunk from the liquid going inside there's loads of dust around it it's is a D5 pump so I'm hoping it still works but we're definitely going to be replacing all of the tubing in the build because it's too far gone but if the tubing is this bad it'll be interesting to see what the pump is like on the inside but at least it's easy to reach so we should be able to clean that up pretty easy well we better get cleaning [Music] the reservoir's glass surface was fully caked with all of the Reser duw from the coolant if you remember the coolant that we pulled out it was actually clear so all of the kind of white particles in that coolant were stuck on here and inside of the plastic this is actually glass as well and it's actually cleaned up really nicely all of the fittings on here however were rusted so I am going to be putting fresh fittings on everything hopefully the D5 still works fans always one of the grossest parts of any PC build cleanup of course we have a load of grease and grime lots of dust that is absolutely caked and stuck onto these fans especially the back of this one here it has really built up I guess from the fan just kind of sitting there over time yeah I can't wait to get these cleaned up once I get the toothbrush in there the pipe cleaner and remove all that dust those will definitely be looking brand new so let's get started the fans cleaned up really well they're looking pretty much brand new which is absolutely fantastic even the 140 mil looks incredible the toothbrush is the biggest help when it comes to cleaning these fans cuz I can get in all of the little crevices and cracks where a normal cloth couldn't really reach and then I went over with a microfiber cloth just to get the remainder of the dirt and grime in out and it's good seeing these fans without mounds of dust and grime so they're also smelling a lot better as well the GPU blocks they are definitely going to be an interesting one especially with the tube going in if there is any indication of what is inside well it's not going to be pretty I noticed one is a full copper water block and one is a nickel plated water block so it' be interesting to see if the nickel plated one is stripped at all but apart from that the major dust buildup is actually on the the top back plate where that GPU is more exposed to the environment above it with all of the Dust coming down and settling on top I did notice that there was dust down the PCB on the back and the front so I am expecting to find some dust once we take the water blocks off and the rear IO of the cards is not looking too bad I'll get the toothbrush in there and it should clean it up really well so I think it's about time that we get started on cleaning this there's a bit of hair on it too [Music] well I just took the GPU block off and it's much worse than I thought it would be I really hope we can get this cleaned up but there is so much rust and corrosion in here I don't know we'll see guys [Music] well we did the absolute best that we could and and as you can see the copper one really cleaned up nicely down below you can see that we've got nickel pla uh stripped off of the nickel PL block uh so it's kind of turning into a copper block itself there's not much more we can really do with this unless I wanted to sand back all of the nickel plating on there but it's not going to hurt the water block at all so I'm just happy we were able to get rid of all of the rust and staining so these are certainly usable [Music] who the gpus I mean probably the worst part of the whole Cleanup in this particular build now on the outside uh we do have some surface scratch marks they are old cards that's to be expected but the io is not too bad few little stains here and there and the metal on the front as well does have some scratching too it is worth noting I did have to drill one screw out of this water block because it was rusted inside and I couldn't actually open it someone had tried to get in before and had completely stripped this one and the back plates themselves also look pretty good not too much wear and tear well we've done everything we can do to possibly help these parts and give them their best chance now it's time to put it all back together and work out what the problem is let's get to [Music] [Music] it righty hey guys first test I've got the fan hooked up just to show that we've got power to the motherboard one of the gpus hooked up CPU is in original Ram original motherboard and original power supply I heard the power supply turn on and we're obviously getting some power to the motherboard all right there's definitely something wrong guys screen's not turning on a few moments later all right trying with a different GPU now and only one stick of ram to see if this works hopefully we get some display output well actually hopefully not cuz I'd rather the motherboard be dead than the GPU and once again looks like we're getting nothing later I just set up a new motherboard we've got the G in and we're getting some signal thank you I'm so glad that works all right let's try the second GPU second GPU is in we know the power supply is working we know the first GPU is working if we can get this second GPU to work it means that either the CPU or the motherboard is bad I don't have another CPU to test in there so we may have to order a CPU and motherboard combo which is fine because if both gpus and the house supp are working then we've already made our money there and we have a little bit extra that we could spend it works yes wow people really are trying to make some money aren't they they can't really justify paying $320 for an am3 plus motherboard we've got the bottom of the line motherboards on there for $79 and 85 I still can't justify paying that they don't even have heat sinks on them pretty ridiculous but I do have another option that I'm thinking we'll go with so I don't know if you guys remember but in a previous cleaning video we actually had the G1 gaming motherboard and it was dead now I had a mate Reach Out Who fortunately actually found another G1 gaming motherboard and hopefully it's working completely fine I think it'll be the perfect upgrade for this system now not only can I repurpose the water block that's on there for the water C build but I also have a CPU which will fit nicely into this as well so instead of paying the hundreds of dollars that people wanted on eBay we're still going to be saving a lot of money there after all paying $200 odd doll even 80 bucks for another motherboard just doesn't make sense with this build so there's two upgrades I'm going to be making to the system number one we've got the I5 6600k overclockable CPU and number two we now have the ability to add an nvme drive so we're going to put a gen 3 fire Cuda 510 inside this is 1 TB so we don't have to wait for the hard drive to load up all the programs and games so that is going to be a noticeable upgrade right there we've also now got some ddr4 Ram running at 2133 MHz this is 16 [Music] GB all right guys I don't really have many other options hopefully this works yes let's let's go oh even straight to Windows would you look at that the nvme dri is working we're in Windows we've got so many benchmarks on here too we're good to go guys let's get it together [Music] [Applause] [Music] I [Music] [Music] oh [Music] I wanted to demonstrate the PC's ability to perform in modern titles versus titles are not so GPU dependent for an older system like this I didn't expect a lot from it in cyberpunk 1080P low settings in fact it was unplayable not the game itself but rather due to the recording or streaming this PC was not able to have gameplay and record at the same time which honestly is to be expected it gets so much smoother when we disable recording we were actually achieving around 50 FPS on average with the CPU sitting around 27° and the hottest GPU around 34° GTA 5 1440p we were experiencing similar issues the load that the recording puts on this PC heavily affects the PC's gaming performance unplayable in my eyes however if you turn the recording off we are getting around 90 FPS in 1440p again the CPU is around 30° while the gpus hit around 33° and now for the Final Shots [Music]
